Photographed a couple of weeks ago, the objects look like huge pillar or post boxes, they are in fact stantions that carried the railway over a factory reservoir, from Accrington down the Rossendale valley, through Bury, and down into Manchester. The line was lifted many years ago, and this is all thats left. There is an apartment development going up in the background, and it should be worth revisiting when everythings completed.

  That's neat. I've never seen anything like it.
