Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

Love old buildings. This was built in 1881. Located in East Liverpool OH where lots of beautiful old buildings are. Because lack of maintenace & money -some historical ones are razed. They don't have a way to save the old work out of them......Now this one in particular is just an old house in what use to be residential area. They tore down lots of houses back in later 70's or 80's to make way for a new highway, this is one that's left.  EAst Liverpool was once a thriving community & also known as pottery capitol of the world...

Beautiful home.  Too bad they tore so many down, why didn't the historical society get involved, or is that a Canadian thing?

During the time that we were house hunting, in 2003, we were looking at houses such as this.
It's what I WANTED, however God had other ideas.... so we are here, and very happy.

I still love the old houses and, in our searches, found many still in excellent original condition.

Thanks Judy and Ruth!

Judy-There are many reasons. The economy is not good in this area. Some think 21st century, make way for new, The cost of upkeep or restoration-just don't feel like its worth it. There was talk about someone coming in to save/salvage the work inside but that cost lots too and there is no one close by that could do it-basically that would cost money. It's really sad!

Is there a Historical Society in the area?  That could take it over?  Does anyone live in the house? It looks pretty run down.  Could it be used as a type of 1991 museum an be furnished as such?  I don't expect the answers are easy to come by.

juanital

There is a Historical Society. Not much they can do either. Funds.... There is a museum already! Lots of residents & peoples in this area have asked suggested, opinioned, researched, etc-some don't really care.

Here in Ontario a lot of homes like this have been put into a "Pioneer Village" and admission is charged.  That is how they get the $$$$ to pay for nthe renovations.  If you are ever able to come to The Toronto area take a gander into Upper Canada Pioneer Village.

I just wanted to say that your treatment of the image nicely fitted the subject matter, adding a note of sadness and emphasizing the decay of a once-fine home.

Lovely old house.  Don't you just love all the porches they used to have?  With air conditioning not yet available, those porches were ways to escape some of the summer heat, and they provided a slight buffer against the ravages of winter.

This photo would be lovelier to see in Sepia or BW.

What a shame that we have to lose these old buildings.

I thought so, too.  Here's my attempt:

What I find most poignant about this picture, is the sled against the wall on the back porch.  A child lives there, and no doubt loves that place as his or her home.
