JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

WOW!! What a magnificently beautiful building.  Do you know when it was built?  I'd love to attend Iowa State University, but I'd probably not do much studying for gazing at the architecture and furnishings!   8)

Great photos!

What a beautiful place. I would love to go there with you Jane.

These are beautiful buildings.

I would love to take a walk through the U grounds and go into the buildings.  They have such a peaceful atmosphere.  I am willing to bet that it changes during the school year though!

Are there any more interesting buildings?

You said you went to Iowa State, What courses did you take?

Barbarian

It gets mighty cold in the winter, often subzero with blowing snow drifts, and a huge open meadow in central campus to cross.   Those old buildings were mighty inviting, I can tell you.

I graduated in bacteriology, mostly because I accumulated enough hours in that subject first.   I spent a lot of years there interrupted by a war, and got my bachelor's degree in that school.

I understand Iowa winters.  Spent enough years driving through there!

I love the preservation of the old.  There is so much to teach our youn in their preservation.

Are there any other campus buildings, you can include in this forum.  They are so beautiful and you capture the personality of each one!

Barbarian

This one faces Beardshear, across a long stretch of open central campus.   It was taken by my wife, but I like it better than any I have of this building.

My wife's old residence when she attended ISU.

She's furious with the university; they kept the Georgian exterior, but gutted the interior, and made it modern.

I think this is the oldest surviving building on campus, built in 1890 and named in honor of the Congressman whose law made Land Grant Colleges possible.   It at one time housed just about everything in the college.

It was slated to be torn down, as it was in terrible structural shape, but they found the funds to restore it and I'm glad they did.   I never took a class in there, but there was this store in the basement where you could buy film and paper, and chemicals at wholesale, for your school projects, and they never asked questions about that.

Wow they are amazing.

I just love the History you have included.

It is too bad they gutted the interior of that one, it kind of spoils the "aura" knowing that.

Lovely pictures.

Barbarian

BTW, the picture of Morrill Hall is also by my wife.

I would love to see a picture of both you and your wife!

Perhaps sometime soon?

Sue

Thank you for this wonderful tour of old architecture!

JudyB

Yes Sue, I agree. I would love to see more if you have any more!

Pat

Just a lovely array of photos of your old alma mater!

I've made you a "friend" on flickr!  Some more wonderful shots on there.

Thanks so much for sharing.
