On Saturday, some family and friends went walking on the Jack Scott Memorial Hike.  It was quite rainy at times and drizzly at other times but a wonderful time was had by all.

I love that picture Pat.  Great frame too.   I enjoyed the Jack Scott Memorial Hike.   Fun time of taking pictures and walking down the old railway line.

The Fall colors must have helped to enhance the walk.  How long was the trail, and where did it lead to? Oh, and how many people were on the walk?  And, is this the first annual?  Is the walk church sponsored, and if not why not?

Lee, this is part of the (to be completed) Trans Canada Trail which eventually will go from the east side of Newfoundland to the west side of Vancouver Island in British Columbia but the part that Guelph Hiking Trail Club maintains is about 20 miles.  

Part of it still needs a bridge over a creek and that will be put into place probably by the end of October and then our part is complete.  This walk on Saturday wasn't all that long.  It was about 8 miles.  There were about 20 people I think...  The photo above is a bit brighter in its original state but this was being done for my Paint Shop Pro lessons and so that's why I posted it.  It's got a white wash over it to fade it out a bit.  I still like it though.


This is the third year that they've had a Jack Scott Memorial Hike.  It's absolutely nothing to do with me.  I just see it mentioned in the Hiking Newsletter and then I know it's planned!  I like it that way too.  They honor Jack due to the fact that he was such an avid hiker and was the President of our Club several times.

Pat----nice photo, nice hike, nice memorial to Jack!  I hope you have more photos to share of it, do you?  You don't have to change them for us!  But that does give a misty look to that one!

Pat, nice picture although I would like to see the brighter one as well.  Did Geordie go with you on the hike?  I see a couple of other dogs in the pictures.

The person closest to me is Terena and she's holding Geordie.  Andrew is ahead of her and he's holding Celtie, their dog.

I think I like the original photo best.  But it's nice to see the other effects you can get, too.  I just knew Geordie wouldn't miss a hike!

Lovely spot for a walk.  I like the original best and enjoy the colours.  Your husband must have been a very special man for people to remember him this way...

I recognize that frame!!!  I love that leather look!  

Pat, I know you had a great time hiking and knowing it was all done in memory of Jack.  I wonder if Geordie remembered the trail.  Did he go on that trail with Jack?

That's a wonderful photo.  I love the fall colors and the angle of the shot.  It is great to have the animals along for the hike. Good company.

I like the clear shot much better.  Me and my ideas.  I believe someone should put a bee in the bonnet of the hiking club president that they should adopt a special memorial in the name of the club by placing signs along the trail in memory of all fallen (Those who passed away) members. This would be an excellent tribute to the fallen, and would give hikers something to look forward to as they walk along the trail.

Because of the landscape, short signs wouldn't do, but six foot white 6X6 posts with the names written on each post would be perfect.  Where do I send my donation for Jack's post?

What a happy looking group, even though it looks wet and chilly.  Wonderful that so many of your family could be there, too, Pat.

Oh Pat, it is so nice to finally see what your boys look like.  They are so tall? Was Jack real tall? How old are they?  Very nice photos.  what cute little grandkids.

Yes, Jack was just about 6 ft. until he got very ill and his bones started to shrink and his height did as well.

Ian was 40 (on Oct. 8 ) and Andrew was 35 (Sept. 18).

Janice wasn't there with her four and Ian's other 3 weren't able to travel from Ottawa.

Yes, these are great photos.  Happy to meet your family and friends, Pat!  Four-legged ones, too!  It did look like all of you were having a great time!!

David Hugh is sure growing.  I remember when he was born and was at your house.

Great shots.  That looks like it would be  a fun day.  another question -- does the trail loop, or is it an out and back?

This particular day, the hike was an "out and back" one.  But at the end, there was a place for cars to be parked if people so wished not to walk back.  When the next bridge is put in, the trail will be about 22 miles long and then the next section will be looked after by another Hiking Club.

I would have loved to be on the hike on Saturday.  I wasn't sure where to go to join you though.  Next year I will be there for sure!  It was good to see pictures of Ian, Andrew and Terena!  It has been a long time since I have seen them.

Uncle Jack was truely a very special man, and it is a real  thrill to see him remembered in this way!  I have been thinking that maybe (now this is only a maybe) I would join the Hiking Club so that I can learn to love hiking too!

Are you sure you didn't take one of the pictures of Ian when he was David's age and do a switch???.........  The resemblance is like Doug and Brytan!!!!!

Next year if you remind me soon enough I will try an make it to the hike.

That is some gathering considering the weather.

Judy, do you recognize the coat that Ruthie is wearing?  It's that red jacket that I made for Jack to hike in.  He took it to every hike in the UK and on all of his hikes here.  He liked it because of all the pockets.  

I would have never recognized it if you hadn't pointed it out.

My goodness, Pat!  There is no end to your talents!  I don't think I would attempt to make a jacket like that, but I used to do a lot of sewing.  I made a man's suit once, and I remember the jacket had 14 pattern pieces.  I decided that was my first and last suit jacket to make!

That red coat looks warm, comfortable and handy!  Great job!  I remember seeing Jack wearing it in some of you other photos.

Janet you are right! Pat is a gifted lady.  The amazing thing is she really didn't sew for serious untill the children were wee.  Then she just went from one thing to another very quickly.  I remember many a day spent in her home sewing in praparation for a trip to N.Ireland.  We have had a lot of fun doing it too.  She mastered the art of X stitch and got me, and my daughters started stitching too.  Thank you Pat.
