JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

POSTING FOR WOOLADY aka MAUREEN....

I am in the midst of making my fruit cakes for Christmas, I make large fruit cakes, this is dried fruit, sultanas, currants etc.

Each cake weighs in at 10 pounds, and I give these as Christmas presents to the family. Plus each cake has 2 large glasses of wine in!!!!!!!! By the time its cooked the "booze" is legal.

I also make fruit puddings, which are boiled in a cloth for 3 hours, then "hung", and reboiled on Christmas Day for 2 more hours. So for a while this house will smell "heavenly". LOL.

Tis tradition in NZ to have fruit cake at Christmas time, it came from the pioneers who settled here all those years ago, remembering our Christmas is in the hot summer, but in the UK Christmas is in the middle of winter.

Even after 40 or more years I cannot get used to hot Christmases.

Back to the oven.

My they look good.  Christmas cake is one of my Christmas favourites.

Have you ever tried to sell them?

Pat

I just hope that Maureen puts the recipe over in our "In the Kitchen" area and we'll also put the photos of the cake there too.

Maureen, do you ice them with a lovely scene like they do in Northern Ireland?

Maureen, they look very yummy.  I too would like the recipe as I have someone who really likes fruitcake.

Etta Sue

I like fruitcake but not all fruitcakes.  I like them moist, not dry.  Maureen, please do put the recipe in the Kitchen Area.  Did you bake yours in a stoneware?  It looks like stoneware.  Your fruitcake looks yummy!!!!!

Pat

I'm not Maureen and I hope she replies, Etta Sue but I do believe that that is brown paper.

We always grease our pans well, line them with waxed paper and brown paper to stop them from scorching as they are baked so very long.

I really have my mouth watering looking at these photos.  I want the recipe!

Wow they look scrumptious!  Reminds me of the fruitcakes mother used to make, combining the fruit and setting it aside for a day or two to let flavours blens.  I remember sneeking out the cherries,  mmmmmm so good.  Your pictures are well done but the cakes look marvelous!
