I noticed the nice lighting on my mom's roses Saturday.  Originally pink, I used a filter to change this to more of a pumice or light sepia tone.  I like the results.  I've started a "Fabulous Filters" gallery on my new website. (http://shekinahphotography.zenfolio.com/) because sometimes a filter can add that extra something to an image.

The softness comes from a very shallow DOF with my 70-300mm lens zoomed all the way in on the rose.
