I suspect many of you have seen Columbine flowers, however this was the first I have seen, and was really taken by it's beauty.  My wife and I were traveling to Denver (via Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons) to pick up our daughter after a short term summer mission trip in Kosova, when we happened across these flowers at a ranch entrance east of Jackson, Wyoming.

I've heard of this kind for years, but I have never become truly acquainted with them.  Thank you!

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment Jeanne Lee and Al.  Up until I took up photography a couple years back, I never really paid much attention to the beauty and intricacy of God's vast creation.  Sometimes I think I am learning to see for the first time!

I love Wyoming, too!  I just returned from Yellowstone and Grand Tetons a week or so ago.  A few pictures are already posted on my Shekinah Photography Facebook fan page, but had to do the new computer thing and haven't processed anymore yet.  I'll post some on here, eventually.  I didn't get any columbine, but I did get some landscapes and wildlife.

Thanks Jim & Kathleen.  I've had the opportunity to make a number of trips through Yellowstone and the Tetons this summer, as well as the surrounding areas.  So far as I am concerned, this region is the apex of God's creation!

We have columbines here in Colorado near where I live, mostly blue ones.  I love these flowers.  Great captures.

When we were kids, exploring the bluffs along the Mississippi, we'd find columbine, and nip the back of the flower, getting a burst of sweetness from the nectar inside.
