Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

I took this at a beach on Cape Cod. It seemed to be a very interesting subject, and it was early morning lighting, but the picture is less than interesting to me. What could I have done differently?

I touched it up by correcting the levels and rotating it to make the horizon level. I don't remember if the stand was leaning that much or if it is perspective distortion because I tilted the camera up with a wide-angle lens.

Any comments would be appreciated.

At first I thought that it needed straightening and then I noticed that the horizon is indeed straight.   ;)

Just wondering if maybe the main subject is too centralized?  Maybe have a bit of the beach to the right of the object and have your main subject to the left of the photo?

These are just ramblings at the moment and I'll be back to add more (if I think I can) about it.  LOL

I really like the lighting for sure!  I love the morning sun and long shadows.  I'd also crop off the black lens marks at the top left and right.

This is what I would have done.

Back up a bit and take a picture with the rule of thirds in mind.  I see there is a path on the left side of the tower, maybe try to incorperate that in the photo by having the path lead you to the tower.  I would really try to play with the shadows and even convert it to b/w.

I wonder where Daniel is.  I miss seeing him posting.

Dan,

Two things that I saw immediately.  One the main subject is dead center.  Objects placed off center have more impact than objects placed in the center. Two, the horizon divides the photo directly in half.  Thirds are lots more interesting, than halves.  I will post a lighthouse pic tomorrow showing both of these compositional rules.

Ben,
I know those rules. Apparently though, I had temporary amnesia when I took this picture. I think I didn't notice the horizon because the lifeguard stand dominated the picture. If I had it to do again, I would have gotten down real low, maybe laid on the beach, and shot up, either eliminating the ocean or putting the rule of thirds in use.

Hey, Daniel!  Great to see you!  I've missed you and your painted face!  LOL

I'd so love to live so close to the ocean like you do.  Have you any more recent photos?

Dan, I just looked at your webpage and see some photos from Niagara Falls.  I'm going there next week!  Hope to get some images from there.

I have a few, I'll work on getting them posted. However, I have been taking a lot of slides lately, and I don't have a slide scanner, so I don't have a lot of recent ones I can post right now.

It seems also something is vingetting on the top two corners. Are you using a lens hood that is to small?
