Wow!  Marilyn, you really had some problems.  Glad that all is taken care of now.  You and Keith were lucky to not have a fire!  I wonder about that when I use the cleaning feature on my oven.

At the pool yesterday there were 5 big fans running.  I guess that over the weekend the facility had a water pipe that burst and 10,000 gallons of water sprayed everywhere.  I don't know how they know it was 10,000 gallons and not 11,000 gallons.   ::)  A maintenance man found the problem when he went in to change a light bulb!  The fans were drying the place out.  While repairing the pipe they changed the filter on the pool.  Wow!  Those jets propelled you across the pool!

Today I am going to Nurse Andrea to talk to her about a few things.  Then probably Wendy's for a late lunch/early supper.

It is bright and sunny again today instead of the predicted rain!!  I am beginning to think that whatever the weather guesser say, it will be the opposite!!  It is already 72°.  Yeah!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I am really late getting to the message board today so will try to keep things brief.  After coffee this morning Pat dropped me off at the church for Bible study while she went to the fabric store.  Following that she went to the shoe store to once again try to get her shoe adjust correctly.
Then she came back and joined us at Dunkin' Donut and visited with her lady friends.  Finally, we stopped to eat a good lunch at the local pancake house so she won't need to fix supper tonight.  I had to bring about half of my lunch home as it was a large portion.  I just got up from a nap and we will stay in the rest of the day. Stacey was in a lot of pain today with her amputated leg.

Judy, I grew up on a farm about that same size, perhaps 90 acres, and that is a bit of territory.  Is that a dirt road in your pictures?  I am so used to everything being paved where I drive that it looks strange although I grew up on a country dirt road and only a few streets in our little town had any paving on them.

Etta Sue, glad you are seeing some sunshine and you were able to mow.  Of course, this time of the year you will probably soon need to mow again.   I think the same thing about our clothes hamper and how two people can have so many dirty clothes.  Pat has taken over the washing once again and I don't mind one bit.  Sure hope that mold doesn't result from that water break at your pool.  It sounds like the fans made swimming easier, at least going one way.  :)

Carol, I would think one of the big problems with Bitcoin is there would be no deposit insurance back of it if it blows up.    It sounds a bit like trading futures with the hope you are always on the plus side and don't have to cover losses.  You are right about Big Brother.  I get an email from a Federal News report from Washington and they were hacked and were able to turn off access to their site with IE8, which was the source of the hack and putting rouge bad software on other computers.  From a little I read it sounds like the police were very negligent in checking on the complaints called in about that house where the three women were held.  What a nightmare.

Marilyn, perhaps we need to refer to you as Pauline with all those perils you have encountered the last couple of days. I know it wasn't funny but I had a chuckle out of the cake story and all is well that ends well as there was no damage except for the "brick" and perhaps the electric bill.  That was a terrible problem with the blocked drains.  Glad you took action when you did but you still had a mess to clean up.

Jeanne, we get the same thing even if things are burning on the stove but their is some smoke created such a frying bacon.

Jane, you are probably on the road now as I write.  Hope you have a good trip and a nice time with your family.

Gord, sorry I missed your call.  Glad Noreen is keeping up with the therapy and the recovery from knee replacement I know is painful as watched Pat go through it.  Her hip surgery, while not pleasant, certainly was better than the knee.   Actually, Pat does make our own laundry soap but fortunately hasn't gotten it mixed up with her soup.  There is a different consistency.  :)

Hi, friends,

It's been a busy few days since I came here last.

Ahhhhhhhh, how nice to settle into the computer chair and read your posts.

I don't have much to say tonight - just a note of thanksgiving that we're all doing as well as we are. :)

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  It looks like it will be a glorious day here in Georgia as I don't see a cloud in the sky and it is suppose to get up to about 82 this afternoon.  The major activity for today will be a trip to Atlanta to get my pacemaker checked and then to visit with Stacey and we are going to have a little Mother's Day celebration.  I think I will likely get something at the Kroger deli for lunch as Stacey hasn't been feeling very good although she planned on getting up early this morning and going to the food stamp office as they have reduced her monthly allotment to $48.  It is hard to eat on $48/month.

Ruth Ann,  I have missed your postings but glad you checked in last evening.

Carol

Our women's bible study yesterday had a motivational speaker.  She was a teacher and lost students and a fellow friend in a school tragedy years ago - she even had a heart attack on that day.  She inspires everyone, including family, to "choose your attitude" daily.  I have been thinking a lot about her talk and it is so true.  Remembering a pastor and wife we met who had a bumper sticker "Gratitude is an Attitude".

Larry:  When the children were small, Sears would deliver a huge container of their soap, perhaps 75 lbs.  Since there were 4 little ones, I washed clothes or something daily. That was really good soap at an excellent price.  There isn't enough storage room here for anything like that - it just reminded me when you talked about Pat making her own soap that we all could do a little more simple living.  Glad that Pat had fun at her fabric store!!!  Did Stacey have a setback with her pain control?  $48 for food per month?  Something is wrong.

Beautiful rain here for the next three days - it is so welcome but not the thunderstorms , of course the nitrogen from that makes everything green and fresh.  We had thunder snow in the mountains.  It can happen.

Don is off for his monthly men's breakfast.  He can usually hear the guy next to him at least so that is good.  Our friend in Arizona is considering a lawsuit against a doctor who made a sloppy diagnosis - never read the medial background or prescriptions and prescribed something so we almost lost our friend.  He is now slowly recuperating and they may stop to visit on their slower than usual drive back to Minnesota.

I felt fine until the nurse came in yesterday.  My BP was the highest it has ever been.  She asked me if I ever had chest pains.  I said no but I do get winded after walking to my sister's or to the mailbox.  So now I am waiting for a call to schedule a stress test for me.  Always something!

I walked 10 minutes in my house last evening.  I have a double figure 8 that makes walking easier.  I set the timer on the oven.

Kaye Don and Barb got home from Florida just before I got back from the nurse's office.  Barb seems pretty chipper even though she had a heart cath last week and saw two doctors since.  50% blockage but they don't stent until 70%.  She has one stent that was 90% blockage.

It isn't fun getting old.

Today is my class lunch.  I think a couple from Peoria is going to be there and also Kitty and Bob...who seldom goes!

Another bright and sunny day out here.  It is overcast but mostly sunny with a gentle breeze.

I have noticed that the two big rabbits that are living under my Blue Spruce has two little babies!!  What fun!

It Took a Miracle
(Click to hear music)

Words and music by John W. Peterson

My Father is omnipotent
And that you can't deny;
A God of might and miracles;
'Tis written in the sky.

Chorus
It took a miracle to put the stars in place;
It took a miracle to hang the world in space.
But when He saved my soul,
Cleansed and made me whole,
It took a miracle of love and grace!

Though here His glory has been shown,
We still can't fully see
The wonders of His might, His throne;
'Till eternity.

Chorus
It took a miracle to put the stars in place;
It took a miracle to hang the world in space.
But when He saved my soul,
Cleansed and made me whole,
It took a miracle of love and grace!

The Bible tells us of His power
And wisdom all way through;
And every little bird and flower
Are testimonies too.

Chorus
It took a miracle to put the stars in place;
It took a miracle to hang the world in space.
But when He saved my soul,
Cleansed and made me whole,
It took a miracle of love and grace!

Hi everyone. It is a truly beautiful morning with mild temperature and sunny skies.  However, we may get some rain later this afternoon or evening.  After coffee this morning a friend came over for an hour and just left.  Pat is on her way out and won't be back until after lunch so will have a quiet remainder of the day.  Our trip to Atlanta yesterday was without incident and we enjoyed our lunch and visit with Stacey.  She gave Pat a set of wind chimes with a butterfly holding the chimes for Mother's Day.  I did get into a mess trying to get to the Kroger's store to get something for our lunch and got lost.  Thankfully I was able to use my iPhone GPS using Google Maps and it got me to Kroger's but the traffic was truly awful and the lanes of the road very narrow.  We didn't get home until about 3:30 and by then I was very, very tired and feel the results of yesterday today even after a good night's sleep.

Carol, that bumper sticker about gratitude sounds like it came from AA or Al-Anon.  I don't think Stacey has had a setback in her pain control but suffers from phantom pain of the leg that is not there.

Etta Sue, good to get the stress test done as that is a first step in diagnosis or to set a baseline for future tests.  Glad to hear that Barb's blockage is not yet where they need to stent it.  Hope you class lunch was a lot of fun.

Etta Sue

Our class lunch was at Greek's Pizzeria.  If there is one in your neighborhood, I say go.  Very good pizza!  There were 18 of us there!  Big bunch for us.

Tony and Charlene are coming here tonight and then taking me out for Mother's Day.  I am giving the house a 'lick and a promise'.  Charlene's house is always neat and clean and she watches 6 little ones every day!!

I searched 'Stress Echo Test' on Google.  Everyone is telling me what was done to them.  I will tell everyone what was done to me Monday afternoon!

Must get on to 'lickin' and promisin''!!

I received a message from a friend on FB that his MIL had surgery on both legs.  There were blockages, and one was by the foot.  There isn't much hope for the one near the foot.  Please be praying for this man his Mom in law and the rest of the family.  God knows who they are.

We have rain here today that started this morning.  Believe it or not we do need the rain!  even after all the flooding!

We were to go for dinner today with friends, however John won't be home in time.  So I will go alone and have dinner out!!!

How are you doing Betty? You are in my prayers.

It May Be At Noon
(Click to hear music)

H. L. Turner

It may be at morn, when the day is awaking,
When sunlight through darkness and shadow is breaking,
That Jesus will come in the fullness of glory
To receive from the world His own.

Refrain
O Lord Jesus, how long, how long
Ere we shout the glad song?
Christ returneth, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Amen, Hallelujah! Amen.

It may be at midday, it may be at twilight,
It may be, perchance, that the blackness of midnight
Will burst into light in the blaze of His glory,
When Jesus receives His own.

O joy! O delight! should we go without dying,
No sickness, no sadness, no dread, and no crying,
Caught up through the clouds with our Lord into glory,
When Jesus receives His own.

Judy, thanks for the information about the friend's mom-in-law.  That must be very stressful for her and all the family.  I will be keeping her in my prayers.

Hi, friends,

It was a bit busy for me today - going to a doctor near a really good eating place seems to make the afternoon fly by. :)

I think I'll visit son #1 tomorrow.

Love to everyone,

Thanks for the prayers, Judy. We are doing fine  :) I didn't have access to internet this week as we decided to go for a short camping trip. We went to Leamington, Ontario - to Point Pelee, to see the bird migration. We've always wanted to go to see what Point Pelee is like and we thought it would be good to go during bird migration. The weather was good while we were there and we wore ourselves out walking all over. There were a lot of birders there. We like watching the birds, but would not be considered birders.

It sounds like the weather is getting cooler again. They are calling for snow tonight. I've seen the same amount of fast growth in our area. You could almost sit outside and watch the plants grow.

Praying for the requests I see on here
Betty

Enjoying God's handiwork!

Hi everyone.  It is a sunny morning and to be in the 70's here in Georgia and just back from coffee.  I did have a quiet day yesterday as wasn't feeling very chipper.  I do hope today I am not as tired.  I do have to present a program topic at my meeting this morning so do have an obligation for the day.  I also need to go to the hardware store as our front door deadbolt lock broke yesterday.  I had used it earlier in the morning and relocked it.  In the afternoon Pat went to unlock and and found the key went back and forth without moving the deadbolt.  I took the lock out and will take it to the store with me.  Fortunately, we have a regular door lock on the door.  I put some tape over the whole where the other lock was and with the screen door it doesn't show from the street so feel relatively safe.

Etta Sue, nice you had a good turnout for your luncheon.  I have never heard of the Greek's Pizzeria in our area.  A stress echo test is more than just a stress test but nothing to worry about.

Judy, glad you were able to dine with friends.  It must be tough to have both legs operated on at one time.

Ruth Ann, it does sound like you had a busy day yesterday but an enjoyable eating out experience.  I know you look forward to spending time with your children.

Betty, sounds like a very nice camping trip with a lot of walking.  More snow--ugh!

Jeanne Lee

A dull, rainy day today.  It seems extra dark in comparison to the beautiful warm sunny days we've been having for the last week.  Temperatures will be falling into the upper 50's and lower 60's for the next several days and then back up around 70 on Wednesday.  Hard to believe it's mid-May already.   :)

JEanne we have the same temps here except as Betty said we are expecting snow tomorrow.  Yuck, However typically we have been known to have a cool/cold.  We moved here on May 19th 1996 and it was too cold to camp. Yet a week later it was considerably warmer.  I am thankful I got the lawns mowed before it started to rain.

Heather Jon and Kim spent the night here, what a wonderful time we had, chatting, laughing and getting caught up. We will be having brunch tomorrow with them as well. It was 3:30 AM before we got to bed.

I am late posting the hymn I will do that now.

It Is No Secret
(Click to hear music)

Lyrics: Stuart Hamblen

The chimes of time ring out the news,
Another day is through.
Someone slipped and fell
Was that someone you?
You may have longed for added strength,
Your courage to renew.
Do not be disheartened,
For I have news for you.

Refrain

It is no secret what God can do.
What He's done for others, He'll do for you.
With arms wide open, He'll pardon you.
It is no secret what God can do.

There is no night for in His light
You never walk alone.
Always feel at home,
Wherever you may go.
There is no power can conquer you
While God is on your side.
Take Him at His promise,
Don't run away and hide.

Refrain
It is no secret what God can do.
What He's done for others, He'll do for you.
With arms wide open, He'll pardon you.
It is no secret what God can do.

I so enjoy being with my son and his wife.  We went to Logan's Steakhouse for supper and then back here.  They came in for awhile.  When it is supper time for the furkids, Ali gets very vocal.  Tony said he could tell she was meowing because of her mouth but he couldn't hear her meow!  Oh, how I wish he would get hearing aids!!

I made a graduation card for g-nephew, Justyn, today.  His Mom, Keri is having a reception for him tonight at 5pm.  Ivalou forgot it was this evening and her daughter, Teresa, SIL Doug and g-daughter, Lauren, are here.  But they are going to the reception, too!

So even though it is cloudy, overcast, looks like rain any minute and cold...only 48°, it looks like it will be a fun day!!

I sent you a message, Marilyn. So sorry you lost your address book.

How'd everyone's day go? Mine was pretty quiet, with the exception of a heart-fluttering experience of being called downstairs mid-day to pick up a flower arrangement one of the children sent. My kitchen has a yellow theme, and the arrangement is yellow roses with white daisies in a yellow vase. How nice!!

Well, y'all have a wonderful day.

Hi everyone.  Anothr sparkling day here in Georgia after a brief period of rain last evening.  Only suppose to get up to 70 degrees this afternoon.  Pat fixed a number of food items yesterday so we had a really good dinner and will have the salads with some tuna fish salad she made for our lunch after church.  This being Mother's Day is not a good day to go out to eat so will just eat at home today.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.  I have watched a couple of the four episodes about the Medici Family in Florence on Netflix.  These are documentaries with actors to illustrate the scenes for no dialog and obvious experts being interviewed and filling in details of the narrative.  I will probably watch the other two segments today.

Jeanne, the month really is speeding past--I feel the same way.  We are going to have some cooler weather during the next few days if I remember the forecast correctly.

Judy, how nice to have family to share good memories with.  I don't think I would last until 3:30 am unless it was an emergency.  Is it normal to get more snow in your area this time of the year?

Etta Sue, nice you could share a meal with Tony and his wife.  I always like the Logan's Steakhouse as the food was always good.  Do they through the peanut shells on the floor?  We used to have one of those close by but it closed when the Texas Roadhouse opened and they have peanuts in the hull but put a little bucket on the table for the shells.

Marilyn, I sent you a quick email per your request.

Ruth Ann, those are the kind of surprises that are nice to have.  The roses sound beautiful.

Jeanne Lee

The sun was shining for a while earlier but now it's totally overcast and expected to stay cool (?) for the next three or four days.  In fact, there's a frost advisory for tonight!

Marilyn, I'll send you an email as soon as I finish here.  A horrible feeling to realize you've had that kind of accident.

Nice to see all the posts in here.  All but one in our family celebrated Mom's Day at a pizza type restaurant last night.  One grandson had been in swimming competition and we watched him on Friday but Saturday did not see him win one heat and come in third on another heat.  He missed going to State by .30 (one third) of a second.  So surprised by seeing our Minnesota grandson walk up as he flew home for this weekend - his first Mother's Day visit with his mom in 4 years.  Only one of our family was missing as he was in San Jose, CA supervising a move for his company - he did call just as they were going to the beach this afternoon & will be home tonight.

After church, we went to Panera's and I had a Cinnamon Crunch bagel with hazelnut spread.  We read the paper and stopped at the hardware store to buy some more flowers.  We did get two hanging tomato plants set and a big pot of geraniums plus filled the containers for reddish colored Salvia on the NW side of the house.  My dear neighbors have volunteered to water whenever we are gone or nothing could be outside.  Flag is flying today so the front looks colorful once again.

This week will be two doctor appointments for Don at the VA, I have another meeting here - never will book everything in May again.  What was I thinking?  Breakfast goodbye with the bible study - we have two goodbye brunches - it is so hard to let go.   ^-^  I am on a high today - family gatherings are so wonderful.
