Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

That does make a difference, Marilyn.  It's so easy for us to miss some of that fine print!   ;)

Good Marilyn I thought there was something wrong, I have taken Cipro before Never had the restrictions you originally posted.   You will be feeling better soon.

Was shopping with Kim today. Bought her a pair of white pants, that look wonderful on her.

Gord good to hear Noreen is working on physio again.  Tell her to keep at it, even when  it hurts.

I have read all the posts and know I am praying for each of you.

God bless you all.

Janet:  They can never ruin anything chocolate, can they?  They probably made a lousy lunch for you just so you would work in the cafeteria.  flowers for Beth, how nice she is remembered.  They are good and loyal friends.

I have been cooking tonight because.... the worker helping today plugged in a drying machine using the outlet our garage refrigerator uses - and... forgot to plug the fridge back in.  So, a backpack of semi-frozen food went home with son as I called and told him to come soon.   We have to BBQ everything else tomorrow morning.  Good grief.  OK, I was a little upset and then reminded myself that thanks to heaven, we caught all this in time so the food isn't spoiled.

Gord:  We will know more in the next week or months to come but right now he is in Merritt, B.C.  He is really enjoying meeting new friends and playing hockey.  They also do community work (as he has always done too) and play baseball, so many things as so many people want to show the boys the area and so forth.  It is beautiful.  Hi to Noreen!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Well, it's almost midnight tonight, and I'm really sleepy, but haven't been able to "simmer down" enough to crawl into bed yet. :)

My son had problems with his van, so I took him to run the errands he had planned to do, then rested a couple of hours, went to a doctor's appointment, then on to church, then somewhere to grab a bit of supper (didn't have time to do so before church).

So, likely I'll rest well, once I get to bed. :)

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  The sun is a little tardy in rising this morning but know the sunlight hours are becoming fewer as we head to the beginning of fall.  Nothing on the schedule for today except my EECP treatment.  The end is in sight with the treatments.  I got up feeling good again this morning and even made myself a "To Do List" for the first time in several days as haven't felt like tackling one for awhile.  I don't go to coffee on Thursdays so get an earlier start on the message boards so should have a little extra time this morning.

Carol, it sounds like your grandson is in a good situation and hope it all works out so he can play since that is obviously his dream.  Some days crazy drivers seem to be out taking unnecessary chances.  Glad you discovered the refrigerator problem in time.  I am sure the workman didn't leave it unplugged on purpose and felt bad about it.

Janet, a belated Happy Birthday to Beth.  I share the same feelings about still having Stacey that you expressed about Beth.  Aren't we glad we are not God and don't make such decisions.  I never heard of green roses.  Is there something special and meaningful between them with that color of rose?  It sounds like Beth had a full and eventful day to celebrate.

Gord, I remember once staying with my sister-in-law and her then husband in their big mobile home and one of the shower knobs had come off and he had had attached a pair of vise-grips to the hot or cold control and it served the purpose.  It looked rather strange but did the trick.  I think Stacey may be getting her leg today, at least that was the last I heard unless more adjustments are needed.  Good to read that things are looking up for Noreen.

Hi Ruth, Jeanne, Judy and Marilyn. I will stay out of the discussion on yogurt as can't stand the stuff.

Ruth Ann, see you had to come to the rescue again.  I think you need to get your little car repainted as the "rescue car".  :)  Good you were up to doing what you did yesterday.

I Am Resolved
(Click to hear music)

"Christ hath made us free." Galatians 5:1

Words: Palmer Hartsough, in The Praise Hymnal (Cincinnati, Ohio: Fillmore Brothers, 1896).
Music: James H. Fillmore, Sr., 1896

I am resolved no longer to linger,
Charmed by the world's delight,
Things that are higher, things that are nobler,
These have allured my sight.

Refrain

I will hasten to Him, hasten so glad and free;
Jesus, greatest, highest, I will come to Thee.
I will hasten, hasten to Him, hasten so glad and free;
Jesus, Jesus, greatest, highest, I will come to Thee.

I am resolved to go to the Savior,
Leaving my sin and strife;
He is the true One, He is the just One,
He hath the words of life.

Refrain

I am resolved to follow the Savior,
Faithful and true each day;
Heed what He sayeth, do what He willeth,
He is the living Way.

Refrain

I am resolved to enter the kingdom
Leaving the paths of sin;
Friends may oppose me, foes may beset me,
Still will I enter in.

Refrain

I am resolved, and who will go with me?
Come, friends, without delay,
Taught by the Bible, led by the Spirit,
We'll walk the heav'nly way.

Refrain

:ticked:  Lost my whole post!  POOF!  Gone!!  Those gremlins are at it again!

I looked everywhere I know to look and cannot find it.  Rats.  Anyway, I had said I was more than tired by the time I got home last night, but Beth had a wonderful birthday.  There were nine of us at the Pizza Hut, and we all enjoyed visiting, eating and singing Happy Birthday to Beth.  She got some really cute and funny cards, and also a bag of potato chips.  Something strange like honey and vinegar or something.  John had bought her some, and we can't find them in Ulysses, so her friend Mindi found them in Garden.  Beth was tickled.  She also got a lovely cross to hang in her room (hope we can find space on a wall!) and our new friend Jo baked her chocolate chip cookies!!

She wanted some Chocolate Dunkers, so we all shared an order of those.  Pretty good--as Carol said, hard to mess up chocolate!  The total bill was less than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise.  By the time I took her home, got her back to her room, then made a couple more trips carrying in her balloons (we took them along!  :)) and other things, I was more than ready to come home to bed.

Gord, Darrel would certainly have done what you suggested IF there had been enough of the spindle sticking out to get hold of with anything!  But no, it broke off almost flush with the hole.  He worked on it and thought he had it fixed, but the compressor doesn't turn on with the fan.  He called someone to come fix it, and I am now waiting for a return call.  Whoever answered the phone said the guy is leaving on vacation and she doesn't know if he will have time to fix it before he leaves or not.

Larry, I do hope Stacey gets her artificial leg soon and that she can use it without pain or problems.  I know everything has to be just right, and the healing well done, too.  I do wish her my best.  I am trying to emulate you in your attitude toward health problems (Beth's, not my own--I don't have any to speak of, thank God.)  You are a wonderful example to the rest of us.  So many complain about every little thing, and you never have to look far to see others with so much worse problems.

I hope that AC guy calls soon, as I would like to get another interview done.  Darrel has gone to Liberal to consult yet another doctor about his lingering bladder infection.  So I am stuck until they call.  Oh!  I guess I can call and give them my cell number--I'll do that!  :D

Got the get the trash to the pit before the wind comes up again!

Love and best blessings to all of you, and thanks for all the birthday wishes for Beth!

Hi everyone on a Friday morning.  Yesterday turned out to be a red letter day.  Stacey had called her mother in the morning saying she hadn't slept the night before due to the terrible phantom leg pain and that she was going to have to cancel her appointment with the office making her new leg.  Well, as she had a doctor's appointment she didn't want to miss she didn't cancel.  As a result she came home with her new permanent leg.  I don't know when I have heard her so excited about anything.  She had a picture taken with her standing on it and she looked six feet tall, although she is only about 5'2" tall.  I think she must have called everyone she knew last night to share her good news.  It is so nice to see things go right for her on occasion and we are very grateful that she has had such good care over these many months.  She was released by the surgeon to go ahead with the leg.  She now has to be taught how to walk with it at the place that makes them.  After coffee this morning at the Senior Center I am going to meet a friend for breakfast and then go to Athens for my 30th treatment.  I was happy to watch a little of the first night of college football with South Carolina and North Carolina with South Carolina winning.

Janet, it sounds like you provided Beth with a very fine birthday celebration.  Hope Darrel finds some help for his persistent problem soon and you also get your AC fixed.  Hope you were able to rest last night.

Jeanne Lee

Larry, what great news about Stacey's new leg!  It must make both you and Pat very happy to hear her "up" for a change.

Hello friends this cloudy day in Nobleton.   :coffee:

Larry:   About the yogurt once several years ago I had a bad experience and swore never again will I eat that stuff, the vanilla I do not care for but if they are fruit filled or add my own fruit I now have them also I check the expiry's dates.

The cost of gas has increased approx. 5.??? cents since last Thursday terrible and I feel unnecessary.   Yet a town an hours drive to the north of here is at least 5 or more cents less always  go figure.    Then North Bay and north it is even more than down here on the good days.

Mel is out cutting the grass with the hopes of getting it done before the rain

JudyB

Ruth If I shop for eggs in Powassan 18 eggs are over $5 yet if I shop in Basics, the same eggs are $4.50.

Kim is going home tomorrow. She is waiting anxiously for Mom and Dad to leave home and head north.  It is now noon and a 7 hour drive will be a 9 hour drive by the time they battle traffic north.  This is the last long weekend of the summer and the crazies are out in full force.

I may be dog sitting again this weekend, haven't heard from my friends yet as to when Autumn will be arriving.

So this is a day all up in the air!

How Great Thou Art
(Click to hear music)

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Chorus

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Chorus

Janet

Larry, I am rejoicing with you and Pat over Stacey's good news!  Isn't it a relief to get GOOD news for a change?  Also glad you had a good day yourself!  :)

I rather enjoy yogurt, and ate a LOT of it in Turkey.  They sell it in four GALLON buckets, if you can imagine!  I think that would last me beyond forever.

Ruth, I sure know what you mean about gas prices!  Ours went up 20c overnight.  Yet only 20 miles from here, it is 20c less, and in any direction--all the other towns have better prices, and this town sits smack dab in the middle of one of the biggest gas producing fields in the country!  Go figure.  I am so shocked by grocery prices every time I go to the store, which isn't often, as Darrel enjoys going to the grocery store.  (And I enjoy letting him do it!)

We have gone to the gym and exercised, I have gotten my hair done, and now it is time to go to lunch.

Darrel got the AC fixed!   :cheer:  :excited:  Now maybe we can get the sleep we need.  Thank you, Darrel, and thank you, God.

Darrel went to the urologist yesterday, has another appointment for next Thursday to have a camera run where no man would like....so he says he needs me to go with him for that one.  Poor guy.  :'(

Need to run, see you later!

Heather and Jon have finally left now to see how much traffic they get stuck in.

Hello everyone from the west coast. It has rained some here and to the sun is out again. Crazy earthquake weather. I see where there was a 7.0 in the Aleutian islands off Alaska. but the notice said there was no Tsunami danger here.

Not much going on here to speak of, i went to the gym this morning and took the dogs out for their walks, this time Bebe didn't make it as far as the corner before she wanted to come home. happy decided he would walk our usual route. he has been panting a lot. Getting ol is no fun not even for the critters.

Larry I know you are beyond glad and happy that Stacie got her leg and that she is so happy.

We received news that a 24 year old son of one of the OTA Road Knights has passed away.  As far as I know he didn't know the Lord.  So much sadness, for the father.  I'm now trying to get the message to the other Road Knights on that team and let them know.

Heather and the family are here, with their dog, and I am dog sitting.....This is going to be a strange evening!

Till later

Ruth Ann Bice

It's so good to hear from y'all this evening.

I went to the grocery to stock up on essentials . Hopefully, that treatment will make things much better. :)

Y'all have a good day with our Lord.

Love to all,

Well, I just figured it was about time I made a showing again.  I have not been idly sitting by, however.   ::)
For one thing (among many) my refrigerator/freezer decided to quit on me over the weekend ... I only just yesterday got the new replacement, and did the grocery replenish run today.  At the same time I had a stop at Western Union to rescue a granddaughter in distress (again).  She called Tuesday, crying uncontrollably, and I couldn't even understand what she was saying.  Of course, I wasn't home when she called, because I had gone to the Senior Movie ... (my, my, I actually did something for myself! )  seems she had lost her wallet with ALL of her rent money in it!  Grandma to the rescue -- again.

My Spokane daughter is vacating the state of Washington on Sunday, and heading "home" to Sacramento.  She has no job to go to, but hopes to find work quickly, and will be staying in my mobile manufactured home until I can get down there and make legally "our" home.  I'll have to add her to the title in order for her to be able to stay there beyond 3 weeks.

My granddaughter who made the great escape to Springfield, Oregon in March is back in Sacramento.  She says she just couldn't afford it there because they were coming into the slow season where she worked and she being low man on the totem pole was having her hours cut to 16 a week!  >:(  She and her son and his father moved back last weekend .... lotsa drama and headache and heartache that doesn't need to be put on y'all .... just this grandma gets to hear it all!

It has been hot here (for me) 80º on my porch and warmer than that inside.   :-[   With all the frantic phone calls coupled with the heat my blood pressure soared to a new high.  I was dripping wet and no way to cool down!  I'm getting too old for this sort of thing. :-\

I'm happy for all the good news from each of you, and am praying for the concerns as I read of them.  I saw a post from Al over the weekend ... and responded ... just as the Thoughts was being locked, so no one else was able to "see" him.  :-\

Y'all take care now, y'hear?  That's what I'm planning to do ......
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

JudyB

Jane those grands of ours....... Good to see you here though.  Glad you got your fridge, and resupplied.

This has been a long frustrating day. Heading to bed soon and hoping tomorrow is better.

Janet

Jane, always good to "see" you, but sorry you are having so many frustrations and heartaches.  I often say being a Mom is a lifetime job, as even when we get our kids raised, there are still times they need us, and then there are new generations  over whom to be concerned.  Hope things shake out  and fall along pleasant lines for you soon.

Hi everyone.  Another nice morning here in Georgia with some chances of rain over this holiday weekend.  After coffee this morning I went to Kroger's and was able to walk to the back of the store for milk and get a couple of other items and back to the car without being breathless or feeling tired.  It has been a long time since I experienced this.  I am really optimistic.  I plan on attending a meeting this morning and will watch a lot of football today as the college season basically starts today.  Georgia plays Clemson tonight at 8 pm and I will be tuned it.  Pat and I went out to eat last night and had a good meal.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Ruth, the price of gas here has gone up this week as well.  It is now $3.59 a gallon.  I guess the situation in Syria is being blamed but it is always some excuse or another.

Judy, wow, the eggs are really expensive up your way.  Ours are less than $2.00.  I expect you will miss having Kim once she leaves.

Janet, yes it is a joy to get some good news once in a while.  So far this hasn't been our best year.  :)  Your gasoline price situation reminds me of the shoemakers family not having shoes.  Everytime I go to the grocery store I am just thankful that I can still afford to buy groceries.  I can't imagine how tough it must be for some families.  Glad you got the AC fixed before this holiday weekend.  I don't envy Darrel his appointment next week and your comment is certainly right.  They will surely sedate him.

Marilyn, that is a strong earthquake.  I wonder if they felt it in Alaska.

Judy, such a young age.  I do hope it wasn't drug related.

Hi Ruth Ann and Pat.

Jane, did you lose much food when your refrigerator quit?  We have been there and done that with a granddaughter but had to put a stop to it.

JudyB

Gas is $1.379 here this weekend. Larry that is equivalent to about $5.16 a gallon.

Kim and family has gone.  I will miss that girl so much.

Didn't sleep last night so I am off to lay down for a bit.  John won't be home till late tonight or early tomorrow.  This has turned into a weekend not to be repeated!

Al Moak

I'm thankful I don't have buy gasoline just now.  My son Joel has my car - I don't get out hardly at all.  But I'll pray for all of you,

Carol

Larry:  That is such great news for you and Stacey.

Prices going up and up - unless you sew, you wouldn't be paying attention to the price of fabric.  It is unconscionable to my mind and in the national & popular craft store, a good coupon helped me today for the insulating fabric for hot pads was marked $9.99 per yard when it wasn't even $4.00 just a couple of years ago - made in China junk.

Yes, I truly am most grateful for the fact that we can afford food, still can drive a car and get around to visit with the family.

I have the book, "Dietrich Bonhoeffer" and it is an amazing history.  He was a pastor who rebelled against Hitler - a brilliant person and so interesting - murdered by the Nazis.  He wanted Protestants and Catholics to look at their similarities rather than their differences.  Led by the message from God, he did the most dangerous things .  I highly recommend this story.

JudyB:  Sorry that your weekend has been so up in the air.

Jane: Wishing you well on all your efforts with grands.  I would recommend you checking if the ownership added might cause you any financial issues in future.  Just a thought.  Things always do work out alright, don't they?

Carol

Al:  Good day to you!  I hope you are staying cool during these warm days.  Miss your longer posts.

Ruth

Hello Friends:

It is looking and feeling so much like rain. oops the sun has decided to shine right now.

I have been to the grocery store for a few items, a load of laundry is waiting to come from dryer.  Now before that I must get dinner prepared and in the oven.

Al, Carol, Marilyn, Janet, Larry, Jane, Ruth Ann, Pat & Judy,
Good to spend time with you .

Hi from the island.
It is 3 A.M. and I have been awake since 1.30, so decided to stop in and read all the encouraging posts.  Hard to sleep due to the old body......

My main reason for posting is to mention to Janet about my grand Amanda and  bladder problem called IC/BPS (Interstial Cystitis).  After a year of terrible pain and a GP who should not be allowed to even be a dr., she finally got a specialist that helped.  They did a operation to stretch the bladder and she has a strict diet that keeps the pain more or less under control.  There is no cure...only careful attention to diet and only water as a beverage.  Also pain medication and some other meds when really severe.   Men can also suffer from this disease, although it is more often found with women.  Don't know if this info is helpful .....

So nice reading all the posts.  Like Al, I don't get out often and life can get lonely.  The kids are going to New York for a few days so I will have lots to keep me busy with feeding pets, looking after the garden and all the happy birds that come to feed....we have a large flock of Quail that has returned with all their babies. So cute.  Keeping my cat away has been a problem.  She wears a loud bell and a cat bib.....still have to squirt her with the garden hose some days.  Oh the joy of pets.

Hope this post doesn't get lost.  Will close now in case!

God Bless,

Liz
