1881 marked the beginning of one of the largest silver strikes in California history and the birth of Calico. This authentic silver mining town lives on as one of the few original mining camps of the Old West.
One third of the town is original; the remaining carefully reconstructed to recreate the spirit of Calico's Old West past.

Marvelous, Sam!
It's so good that they are keeping alive the historical aspects of this area.
Boy! I enjoy your work!
These are wonderful. Where is Calico?
Do you have any more?
It is located just north of Barstow, CA along interstate 15 toward Las Vegas, NV.

I've been there, Did you shoot the shoot out?
During my truck driving days I would pass there twice a week. I had a one track mind, get to LA and then get home. We hope to drive there again only this time as tourists. Perhaps then we can see the sights and enjoy them.
I was in Calico years ago on a family trip to California.
I hope to upload some of my photos from shootouts in Tombstone. They have several groups that do historic reinactments of the Shootout at the OK Corral.
Great photography.
Blessings, Francine
