Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

JennyW: Autumn is shaping up to be quite beautiful this year! 2021-10-02, 12:24:03

These are some shots from this past weekend. I was at a place in Northern Minnesota called "Covenant Pines" for a Men's Retreat.

I was telling Barbarian in another thread that I was experimenting with ND Graduated filters and Photomatix. I am not altogether pleased, but as a first shot at this type of photography I'm okay with it. I learned some things I will do different next time. The tonal range from the sun to the foreground is HUGE. I think our eyes can process around 24 stops (levels) of light, while a decent camera only records 10-14, thus the need for special processing if you want to record more tones.

Here's the seven images I used, I used two ND Graduated filters, then Photomatix:

The processed image:

After all the processing, I think I prefer something along the lines of the 5th image over the higher dynamic range image:

A couple more shots from the weekend. It's a beautiful camp (even more so in the fall).
I wasn't sure how many I should post (a few more are here in my gallery:

We had a wonderful weekend praying and sharing together.

I should have posted that one in the "What Easter Means to Me" challenge. ;)

I like your work.   I haven't tried an HDR sunset yet.   Sounds like an interesting challenge.

Thanks Barbarian. I am somewhat anxious to try it again (without the filters). Probably once all the ice is gone.

You could still do that with the Easter contest!

Beautiful, memorable shots-I especially like the chipmunk!  :)
God's Word is truth, You can trust and believe what he says more than any human word!!!--"Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. Thanks. That chipmunk shot was rewarding. There were a couple scurring around and I wasn't able to get a good shot earlier. But I went back and slowly approached and was able to get this just before he jumped and ran.

I've been toying with the idea of downloading Photomatix, and I think you've convinced me to do it.  That's a great composition, given what you had to work with in terms of available light in your 7 images.  I would have thought you used a star filter as well...did Photomatix create the star pattern, or was that native in the images?  Nice job!

Thanks Ken. The star pattern is native, due to the small aperture. I think you often don't see it unless the area around the light source is somewhat "dark". I have noticed this in some night shots I have taken too, where the street lights do the same thing.
