Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

I really was impressed by the light in this scene; it was almost mediterranian in the warmth and brightness.   I did some changes to make it look more painterly than a photograph.    Did it work?

JudyB

Yes it worked... My reaction was Ohhhhhh lovely.

YOu are skilled at getting out of a picture what you want.  Well done.

Jeanne Lee

Absolutely, it worked.  My first thought was that you had taken a photograph of a painting!  Wonderful scene.

Did you use Gimp on this? It sure did a good job on it.

Barbarian

Actually, GIMP, NeatImage, and Photomatix.

ScottyBoy

What do NeatImage and Photomatix do?

Barbarian

NeatImage (which has a freeware version) cleans up noise, and Photomatix is an HDR program.

JudyB

How is there noise in a picture???

Barbarian

"Noise" is the term for grainy-looking areas with dots of slightly different colors.   Often shows up as grainy-looking skies or light areas.   Noise removal tends to smooth it out.

Huh  You are a good teacher...I didn't know that!.  Thank you!

myfotoguy

That's really nice, you did a great job and it's not overdone. It definitley worked! :)

I recently purchased Photomatix for a sunrise scene I shot last weekend. I shot it with ND Grads, but the dynamic range between the sun and reeds in the foreground was still too much.  had been planning on purchasing anyway, so I ran the bracketed shots through photomatix and that was my first experiment.

Have you done much with HDR and Photomatix, or did you just get the program?

Barbarian

I've used freeware programs for a year or so.   But I like photomatix light.

How about posting your result for us to see?

And they are great!

Barbarian, Have you used this technique with any other pictures?  If so can we see them?

Barbarian

Haven't tried others like this, yet, but I'll see what I can come up with this weekend.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Barbarian, you will let us see, won't you?   :D

I tried it with some flowers today.

WOW, that turned out great
Good eye to see that and know it would work for HDR.

I'm anxious to get out and experiment more now. Will get out more when the spring fully arrives here.

Were you in Holland???  That looks like a scene of the tulip fields in Holland!!

Well done.  There is a lot of nostalgia for John in this.

juanital

Whoa-those flowers are popping gorgeous!  :)

I really like what you did with these images, especially the tulips. Rich colors!!

I use GIMP, too, but to clean up noise I use GREYCstoration, which plugs in and runs inside GIMP.

I'm going to try NeatImage.

I recently downloaded PhotoMatix lite and it works but leaves a watermark until you buy. I have a couple of HDR plugins I've been running from inside GIMP. I've really liked what I've seen of your HDRs, though.
