JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

I wonder if I should try this.  Everytime I have tried making biscuits they taste great but looks similar to a light brown toad!  All bumpley!!!   ::)  Am I brave or not?

Marilyn

Oh Etta Sue you are so funny. I am going topost a different biscuit recipe too.

Etta Sue

It is true, Marilyn.  I make biscuits though.

1) Go to store
2) Go to biscuit department
3) Put a can of biscuits in your cart
4) Pay for biscuits
5) Take them home
6) Read directions on can
7) Preheat oven
8 ) Open can by pealing and whacking on countertop....I have this down pat!
9) Put on cookie sheet
10) Put in oven
11) Set timer
12) When timer buzzes....biscuits are done!!!!

Don't forget the sausage gravy though! :P

BTW, they even have frozen biscuits and all you have to do is preheat the oven and put these white hockey pucks on a cookie sheet and bake.  Not bad but canned ones are better... :-[

Jeanne Lee

Etta Sue, if you make "drop" buiscuits they'll be lumpy.  To get smooth ones (like from the can) you need to roll out the dough and use a cookie/biscuit cutter - or the top of a glass - then lift each round onto the baking sheet.

I will have to agree with Etta Sue. She does have biscuit making down to a science. Her sausage gravy is great also! ;)

Etta Sue

Jeanne ~ I have a biscuit cutter.....brand new...never been used!   ;D

Jeanne Lee

I have one, too, Etta Sue.  But it's been a long time since I've seen it.  ;D

Pat

I wonder if these biscuits can be frozen and baked later!

I like your recipe, Etta Sue.  That's the one I use most!  ::) :o  But I'd really like to have some homemade ones and Marilyn's recipe sure sounds good.

Check out the recipe for "Angel Biscuits" this isn't the only biscuit recipe here.
Marilyn

PS I love to cook, just don't do it that often just for myself.

MARILYN.I'm coming over for your biscuits.  They sound delicious.

Can I have a cup of tea with them too? Please.

I used to make them years ago when I lived with my Nanna......now I make Etta Sue biscuits......

I am good at eating them though.  No problems there.

Jenny.

Judy McKenna

These biscuits do sound good, Marilyn.  Now, do you prefer them made with Buttermilk?  I happen to have a quart of Buttermilk on hand.''

I'm going to be brave and try them Thursday. (will be out most of tomorrow)....

Here is a recipe for those who don't bake!
These biscuits can be in the oven in 5 minutes with a food processor or 10 min. by hand.

2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese (optional)
1 cup of milk

Put first four ingredients in processor
Pulse just to mix
Add butter cut into chunks
Pulse until crumb stage
Put into bowl
Use grater disc and grate cheese
add to mix and stir well
add milk and mix - if dough is stiff add a bit more
put onto floured board and knead a few times
yes, really!
pat out with hands into a round and cut biscuits
put on ungreased sheet
bake at 400 for 15 to 20 min.

Enjoy!

this is the second time I wrote this out - power failure - common in our area
Jenny - will you have to convert this to oz and grams?

Pat

YUM!  Sounds good, Kay!

I really enjoy Tea Biscuits.

Jenny

KAY These look good and simple for even me ....
I will have a try but I don't possess a processor.

When I lived with my grandmother we always used cups and spoons to measure.  That's O.K. We also added cheese. In Lincolnshire we used it in lots of things...even a lump of cheese with apple pie and custard. Lovely!

I love tea biscuits too Pat with a cup of TEA OF COURSE..........you know me, don't you?

Your kitchen sounds lovely Kay. I wish I had a chef's island.  Did you finish the "varathane" coating?

Yours hungrily,
Jenny.

Marilyn

Hi Kay:
These biscuits sound good too, however I don't have a food processor either. Since I am now living alone I don't bake as much as I used to.  I was so used to cooking is such large amounts it is hard to cut recipes down for just one. Pat knows, right Pat?
