JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

Hello and thank you.

I'm just getting started with photography.  Got some stuff and a some more is still on the way here.  Camera, 3 lenses, tripod, light, and some basics.  I took my first photos with this new camera yesterday.  I took some of a fall decoration in the front yard and a few of my youngest daughter.  It was really fun.  I have many things in mind that I want to photo as I get the chance.  I've long enjoyed looking at good photos and hope I'll enjoy creating them just as much.  I seem to enjoy many different sorts of photographs and believe I'll enjoy attempting to capture many different sorts myself.  I have the opportunity to be out where I can get some wildlife photos some and want to make good use of that.

I've long wanted to get into photography, but just got to it.  I have another hobby that uses some of my time so I've been reluctant to jump into another hobby.  My plan is to take some time from the other hobby to give to this one.

My beautiful wife and I have been together for 12 years.  We have three wonderful daughters.  .... so time is important....

I love God and hope to learn and share here.  I hope to capture some photos of the beauty He's shared with us.  I hope to enjoy this hobby with my family.

I ordered 3 books to read and then ordered one more.  I'm about half way through the first book and have already learned a lot.  I'm excited to learn and the information is appealing so far.  I plan to really get out and practice and learn.  I have a few friends in the area who have been into photography for a while so I'll do my best to learn from them as well.

Anyway..... thanks for the welcome.

Hi Joshua, I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of you photos.  What kind of camera did you buy if you don't mind me asking?  Your first shot looked very good.

It was tough for me to decide.  I almost felt like I should jump in a little deeper and go with one with a bigger sensor, but decided to go with the Nikon d3200 after reviewing some of the photos created with that line.  I almost went with the d5100, but after a lot of reading and discussion with a few friends I decided to go with the d3200.  I'm not sure if I'll stay with it or grow some, I guess time will tell.  Knowing how I am I figured I'd still be happy to keep the d3200 even if I end up going with another one in the future.

I know I have a lot of learning to do, but I really am interested in photography so I hope to grown and do well with it.  There is a beautiful old A-frame chapel right outside of town that is at the top of my list.

Thanks for the kind words about that first photo.  I realize I have a long way to go and a lot to learn - that's part of the fun for me.

It looks like the D3200 is rated good.  It looks like you made a good choice.  I bought my first DSLR in 2008, it was a Canon XSi.  A little over a year latter in December of 2009 I bought a Canon 7D.  I enjoy taking pictures of birds in flight so I wanted something that had a better focusing system.  After you shoot a while you will fine out what you like to shoot the best and get a camera that is best for your style.
