Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

JennyW: Autumn is shaping up to be quite beautiful this year! 2021-10-02, 12:24:03

For the wages of sin in death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

We took this tree down recently.  For all appearances to all but the most discerning this was a good old viable tree.

We needed the wood it would supply.

As we started work on the tree the truth became obvious.  There was rot hidden deep in the trunk.  The saying rotten to the core was appropriate here.  The head of the tree new nothing of this rot or the death that was imminent.  It may not have happened this year but it would happen.

When we took it down the tree was bent on falling its own way, not the way it was led.  Sound familiar?

As we cut it up, the tree almost had the last hurrah.  To clear room John almost got trapped by a spruce that was taken down with it.  Sound familiar?

The tree was difficult to the last.  As old as it was, (75 + years) it gave fits, and wore us down.

My mother would have seen a parable here.

Excellent analogies, Judy.

Did you get enough wood from it?

Jeanne about 3 face cord.  We expect about 1 face cord per tree.

Jeanne Lee

I'd say that was satisfactory, then.   ;D

There's a parable in there somewhere for sure. Maybe even a 3 point sermon!
You might be a dog lover if:
You have more dog toys in your bed than people.

Don

Great analogy Judy, glad you were able to gain wood from it.
Don

Eph 2:8,9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Thank you Glenn and Don!

Glen I was mulling this over for a few days before putting it down on paper, My mind wouldn't let it go!

buddywoods

Nice shot Judy.  Look like you did get a lot of wood.

JudyB

John has corrected me We got 4.5 to 5 face cord.  It is all split and in the basement.  we have a lot more splitting of hardwood to do and likely more aspen to bring in.  There are 5 dead trees we are going after likely Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

That's even better figures, Judy.  How much do you usually plan for the winter?

John likes to get in 35 face cord, however after last winter I am pushing for 40.

BigSkyKen

Nice object lesson, Judy!  And perhaps a story you'll remember all winter as it helps to bring you warmth :)
