I would appreciate your prayers.  I have been sucessfully battling stage 4 cancer since 2006. I had finished all my chemo, radiation and surgeries and been declared "in remission". The Lord gave me many months of remission and then they found cancer spots on each lung and my liver. Again the Lord was with me and they were dormant. Now the "spots" have become agressive and are growing. I was headed back into chemo but had to delay it as I fell and broke my wrist. I had to get my wrist in a cast first and now I will have my first chemo session tomorrow. Your prayers and Gods love will see me through this. I read something a few days ago that I would like to share.

Bob, I am also praying as I write this ... Our God is so faithful to answer our prayers and I know He will bring you comfort and a calmness of spirit as you, once again, place all in His hands and trust Him through this time of testing.

I'm a newbie also as I don't post very much. These verses in Psalm 119 have always been an encouragement to me reminding me to draw closer to God and His presence, as He is "The Blessed Controller of all things".  Pat and I will be praying for you and may His presence, become more real to you each day.

Psalms 119:71-76  NASB   It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes. 72 The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. 73 Your hands made me and fashioned me; Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments. 74 May those who fear You see me and be glad, Because I wait for Your word. 75 I know, O LORD, that Your judgments are righteous, And that in faithfulness You have afflicted me. 76 O may Your lovingkindness comfort me, according to Your word to Your servant.

Greetings Brother in Christ,

I am fairly new here.
I do however know that God is faithful and can be trusted.
Know that I am on board praying for your Peace and Healing.
Healing is in His Hands.
Know that there are others out there at the Savior's feet holding you up in prayer at this trying time.
God Bless you beyond what you can contain.

In Christ,

Dear Bob,

I have just said my prayer to our God. I prayed that He look after you.
I asked Him to provide you with what is best for you.
Each day you say your prayer and re-affirm your faith, He is with you.
And knowing that He is there is a lot more than healing.
Take care my friend, each day is a new hope and something to thank about.

I am praying for you, also.  I know God can sustain you for His good purpose if it is His will.  My step mother-in-law has had stage 4 breast cancer and tumors on her liver and spine since 2002.  The doctors don't understand it.  She witnesses at every doctor appointment and testifies to the love and faithfulness of God, no matter how she's doing.  Keep your eyes on the Lord and He will carry you through whatever lies ahead.

Dear brother, I so very fully agree with Paul's prayer and quotation from the psalm.  Our Father has a good purpose for EVERYTHING.  I pray He'll carry out His best purpose for you.  I pray He will give the doctors insight and wisdom and that He will lay His hand of love upon you through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Bob, I will add my prayers to those who have been offered up to the Lord on your behalf.  We know that what we give Him, He knows how to care for.  God is your loving Father and loves you more than we could ever understand.  I pray for peace and a sense of security that you are safe in Him.  And I will pray, too, for healing for your body and that Christ might be more real to you than ever before.

So sorry to hear that you have cancer, weare1. And having a broken wrist at the same time is quite a concern too, as the treatment for the cancer might also interfere with healing of the wrist.
My girlfriend had breast cancer a while back, but she is now clear of it after having surgery and radiotherapy. A friend of hers also had cancer but had to have the chemotherapy, but she is now clear. My girlfriend is a christian, and I think that prayer certainly helps. I will be praying for you and for your healing, as cancer is a concern, but God has the power to defeat cancer.

BOB:

I pray that God will give you the strength to endure the chemo.
I pray that He will put to rest any fears you may have.
I pray that you would feel His Holy Spirit right there with you.
I pray whatever the outcome, you would be drawn closer to Him.
I pray that you would turn to Him each time you feel so lonely, even when surrounded by friends and family.

Roger Bennett fought cancer for 12 years .  He was piano player for The Legacy Five.  He sang two songs that I think will minister to you.  The first one is "Whispers In The Night" begins "I am waiting for His whisper in the night."  The other "Stay Close To Me,"  says "I guess that I could ask you some miracle....but stay close to me Lord, stay close to me."   He sang them in the midst of his battle.

Hi Wear1.

Just know that you have got many people behind you including me, as I am praying for you right now. I am sorry to hear about this and to have a broken wrist at a time like this is really not helpful, but if you trust in him, he will be holding your hand all through this!!

Just remember this verse : Proverbs 3:5

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
       and lean not on your own understanding;
     In all your ways acknowledge Him,
       and He will make your paths straight.

Janet

I cannot add much to the above wisdom, but I do add my prayers for your peace, healing and joy.  May you feel the reality of the presence of Jesus our healer at every step of your journey.

Don

Hi WEARE1

I'm really sorry to hear your cancer has returned. I will be praying for healing for you and also for Gods peace in your life. I have found that if you can find peace from God not much else matters. He can carry you through anything.

Let me tell you about my mom. She is 78 and has been diagnosed with cancer 5 times, breast,lung,uterus,stomach and skin, and if you were to meet her you wouldn't have a clue. She worked a full time job at a christian day care center until a year ago when they made her quit. Her doctors are amazed and just can't understand how she keeps going. She tells them it is in the Lords hands and when he gets ready for her she will go but not before. I talked to her today and she is doing fine, as a matter of fact she says she is cured. Keep your eyes on JESUS and never give up.

Blessed be the Lord

Bob Print out the words for the scriptures quoted by our members.  Review them often as you walk through this exam.  God will carry you as you progress, feel his arms about you.  We don't understand the purpose behind illnesses like this and many experiences are the same, but our Father has a special purpose for you and for your journey.  Perhaps someone will come to the Lord because of your faithfulness?  That is my prayer.  He is the Healer, of the spirit, body, soul, and mind.

Here are the words for Whispers in the Night and Stay Close to Me.  Print them out and take them with you.  As you go through the Chemo you can read them and lean on him.

Whispers in the Night
I am waiting for His whisper in the night
I'm depending on His word to give me light
I'm expecting a victory in this fight
I am listening for what God whispers in the night

REPEAT CHORUS

In the midst of tribulation, seems the darkness has no end
When my light of faith is fragile like a candle in the wind
All alone 'tho I'm surrounded by my friends and family dear
It's Your strong voice that comforts me
Your voice that says "I'm near"..

CHORUS

In your word I've found my hope
rest from my affliction
evidence of faithfulness, abiding love and grace
It is in this lonely midnight that I've found my greatest treasure
the assurance that You hear me and that you see me in this place...

Stay Close to Me
Lord, I knew a time like this would surely come my way
When in disbelief, I'd watch my whole life change
I thought I'd have the words to tell You how I feel
But the only thing my heart is telling me to say is

Chorus

Lord stay close to me, as I journey through the darkness of this great unknown
Lord, stay close to me, though I've place my faith in You, I feel so all alone
My heart trembles like a child as I walk each scary mile
And the only prayer my lips can find to speak is Lord, stay close to me

Verse 2

I guess that I could ask You for some miracle
To even take away this trial that I face
But Lord, I know that You alone know what I need
So would You hold me tight as I journey through this place

Chorus

Oh Lord, when I'm so scared, please be there, Lord
So I can rest in the promise, the promise that You care
Lord I know that I can make it through if all I have is You

God Bless you Brother

Dear Father, we lift Bob up to you in prayer, asking for courage for him that he doesn't despair, but that You will "keep him in perfect peace whose mind is fixed on you" Be gracious to him Lord, and heal him of his cancer, in the mighty name of Jesus our Lord, amen.

Joining with those who are praying for you here.

I REFUSE TO BE DISCOURAGED
I refuse to be discouraged,
To be sad, or to cry;
I refuse to be downhearted,
And here's the reason why...
I have a God who's mighty,
Who's sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who loves me,
And I am on His team.
He is all wise and powerful,
Jesus is His name;
Though everything is changeable,
My God remains the same.
My God knows all that's happening;
Beginning to the end,
His presence is my comfort,
He is my dearest friend.
When sickness comes to weaken me,
To bring my head down low,
I call upon my mighty God;
Into His arms I go.
When circumstances threaten
To rob me from my peace;
He draws me close unto His breast,
Where all my strivings cease.
And when my heart melts within me,
And weakness takes control;
He gathers me into His arms,
He soothes my heart and soul.
The great "I AM" is with me,
My life is in His hand,
The "Son of the Lord" is my hope,
It's in His strength I stand.
I refuse to be defeated,
My eyes are on my God;
He has promised to be with me,
As through this life I trod.
I'm looking past all my circumstances,
To Heaven's throne above;
My prayers have reached the heart of God,
I'm resting in His love.
I give God thanks in everything,
My eyes are on His face;
The battle's His, the victory is mine;
He'll help me win the race.

Bob, so many have provided so much encouragement here.  My addition is simply to provide encouragement as well.  Also, you have been lifted in prayer by me as well.  I pray God's strength and peace to you.

Hi Bob!

How are you doing today?

I've just dropped in to see if you've posted to let us know how your chemo went today.  No word yet but I'm sure we'll hear from you later on.

Please know that Paul and I have prayed for you several times and we'll continue.

I was thinking that isn't it wonderful to be able to lean on Jesus?  We don't have to think of leaning on our own strength but what a wonderful Savior we have that we can just lean on His wonderful arms.

Here's a nice hymn about that...

Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
(Click to hear music)

"He was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, 'Lord, save me!' Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. 'You of little faith,' He said, 'why did you doubt?'" Matthew 14:29-31

Words: Elisha A. Hoffman, in The Glad Evangel for Revival, Camp, and Evangelistic Meetings (Dalton, Georgia: A. J. Showalter & Company, 1887).
Music: Anthony J. Showalter--Showalter wrote this tune and words to the refrain after hearing from two friends whose wives had died, and asked Hoffman to write the remaining lyrics.

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain

Hi all,
             I am overwhelmed and grateful for all your love and support. I am printing every word of encouragement and your words will be with me throughout my chemo and where ever my healing journey takes me. I think our Lord is trying to tell me something. My first chemo was cancelled due to my broken wrist. Today my rescheduled chemo was cancelled due to a foot of snow- which is allot here in Indianapolis, IN. My infusion center at IU Med Center was closed. So my second reschedule date is Monday Feb 2nd. Please know that all your Christian love and support will be with me always and your words will be read and reread during my healing journey.

My Humble Thanks,
Bob Traber  <3
