As many of you may know, one of our Mods - Don - was right in the path of Hurricane Irene and flooding from Lee.  He is still facing major repairs and clean-up and has asked for our prayers.   

He says:  "...ask everyone to say a prayer for me, my family and my business. With the economy the way it is and the storm it does not look good for my business."

Let's keep Don and his family in our prayers.

Don, my wife and I just held hands and agreed in prayer that God honors your request in Jesus name!

I have so many things that I want to say right now  that I really don't know where to start. Please bear with me.

First I want to say THANK YOU for praying for me. I don't know what you are praying but I do know it is working. When Jeanne got in touch with me and I asked her to ask you to pray for me my thoughts were focused on material things. Material things are not what I need, I need more of the Lord. I am sick and tired of being a slave to the prince of darkness. I don't know of a single material thing that I need, God has more than taken care of me even before I knew that he was taking care of me. Besides that I belong to a church family that I can ask for anything that I might need and they will freely give it to me. Thank you Lord for my church family.

I started this year with a failing business because of the economy and now I have to ask God every day what to do. I still don't know what to do but I am not worried about it because I know God will provide. I buried my Mom in January, not a  fun thing,  my oldest daughter her husband and their two kids whom i am very close to moved 100 miles from me. They were 5 miles from me and I felt like I was close enough to help them if they needed help. I still see them every week but it is not the same. Now I feel that I have to depend on God to look after them. Here comes Irene and I lose use of one of my greenhouses,half of my next years crop and just about all that I had left from last years crop.

Do you see the pattern here. God has a way to make us look up even if it is flat on your back in a hospital bed. Thank God he has not put me there. Thank you Lord for opening my eyes.

My new prayer request is that you pray that I will get in Gods word and seek out those jewels that he has hidden there for me. Reading his word is a hard thing for me to do and that's the one thing that I need the most. I want people to look at me and have what I have. Living like the rest of the world is not the way to do it. Help me and say a prayer for me. Prayer Works!

Don, thank you for that message.  God has certainly used your trials to bring you closer to Him.  I will , of course, be praying that you find His message for you in His Word.  And I pray that He will give you His peace and comfort in all your circumstances, as He opens your eyes to His leading.

   Dear Don.   Well again this is a unbelievable story and yes we do not understand why this continues to happen.  But the Lord always gets us through it and he gives us the strength to have for an other day.   So continue to trust him in all things and he will look after you.     The days that are sometimes the worst are the ones that show us what the Lord wants us to do.  I will remember you Don and always keep trusting him.     Love in Christ.    Gordon and Noreen.

Just wanted to say Thank You to the ones that have said a prayer for me and my family and let you know that we are all doing good. Things are getting back to normal and clean up is continuing. Things look bad some times but God knows what he is doing. God is good! 

I would like to ask that you pray that Gods will be done in my life. As of lately that has become a priority for me. I have major decisions that I have to make about my business and I need Gods leadership in what He wants me to do. I am in a position where I can go either way, keep it open or close it, but I really want to do his will in this matter. You can help me by saying a prayer for me.

Don, it's not always easy to see God's leading - as I know full well.  I pray you'll be able to clearly "read" the signs.   

   Hi Don.  I do hope that you are getting along a bit better and Noreen and I will continue to remember you in prayer.  As I said before when it looks so bad and all things seem to be going the wrong way God is faithful and just and he will give us all the strength we need.   God's richest blessings.       Gordon and Noreen.

Don I am and will continue to pray for God's leading with your life and your family's.  Keep looking up my friend and dwell on a couple of my favourite verses. Phil.4:8-9.  Look it up and dwell on it.

Just a update to let you folks know that I am still hanging in there. Clean up of downed trees is slowly progressing. It will still be a while but with the help of God I will make it. Praises be to God!!!

Thanks everyone for your prayers. If it had not been for someone praying for me I have no idea where I would be today. Prayer Works!!! Thank You Lord for answering prayers.

Don, thanks for letting us know how things are going for you.  Prayers continue for you as you cope with all of these difficulties.  And yes, I'm sure we all know that "prayer works"!

Just wanted to let you know that I am still hanging in there. Thanks for your prayers and support. 

I truly understand how you feel, Don. One of my sons is in process of closing his business because of the economic situation.

As for reading the word, you may do well with listening to the Bible through your computer if reading is difficult. One of my vision challenged friends owns an iPhone, and he downloaded the OliveTree software to the phone. Now, he listens to the Bible every day as he walks for exercise. He ruefully commented that intensive listening to the Word has really changed his thinking on many things, for now he's hearing it directly from God's Word.

Also, I downloaded The Message version of the Bible onto my computer, and love listening to an entire book at a time, which gives me a better context than just a single chapter or even a few verses.

I'll be keeping you in my prayers.
