JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

Saturday was Prom time in Hugoton.  Darrel and I went down to help Mark get dressed.  :)  He and two of his buddies are fascinated with all things Asian, and had decided to wear kimonos to the Prom.  One boy's Mom made his, and Mark and Mike bought theirs on eBay, a piece at a time.  Mark's obi was about 10 or 11 feet long, and he had printed out 16 pages of instructions from the internet on how to tie it!  ;D  So, yes, it took all three of us to get him ready!  When we got the obi done, we went over to the store to show his Mom how he looked.

Janet, suppose this will start a trend at his school for the future?

Here are the three boys together.

Darrel got home and I left in the middle of posting these to go and vote.

I don't know, Larry!  I asked Mark if anyone made fun of them and he said just a couple people, and "they were just jealous."

And, if anyone is wondering-----NO, there is no gender confusion here!  Just three guys who march to the beat of a different drummer!

It now costs over $250 to rent a tux for one night!  Can you imagine?  And these boys' kimono outfits cost less than that, and they get to keep them.

One girl's parents rented a stretch Humvee for prom night for her----to the tune of $1500.00.  :o  Whoa!  In that little town?  Who was she impressing?  A couple of other girls rode with her, and she charged them $90.00 each. I think I must be from the dinosaur generation!  I sure can't see this!

Thank you for sharing Janet, what fun they must have had at that prom.

That is hilarious!!!!  (And thank you for clearing up the gender issue. *wink*)

It is outrageous what some of these people will spend money on.

What a different thing to do.  Mark looks dapper in his kimono.

I do not understand how the Prom thing got out of hand....same with Open House's for Graduation.  Parents are EXPECTED to shell out big money for these events!!!!

But when you think of it....perhaps a better investment that big money for a wedding that may not last.  :(

When Curtis graduated, we had a reception for him and his two best buddies at the church.  All the mothers brought food, and it didn't cost a great deal.  Mark's reception will be at their house, and I think they are having hamburgers on the grill.

But I know some people do go overboard.  I always wonder who they are trying to impress, and why.

How interesting, Janet.  Those shoes don't look all that comfortable though.   :o

Pat, Mark wore his wooden shoes around the house and learned they made his toes hurt, so he took string and tightly wrapped the cords together, then they were better.  He practiced walking in them until they didn't bother him much.  His Mom said "Mark, you can't dance in those!"  And his reply was "I'm not going to dance anyway."

The "custom" around here now is for the kids to wear their prom finery to church the next morning, and Mark planned to do that.  But when I asked if he had, he said no, he got too hot in it on Saturday night!  (Silk is very warm, and he had on about 4 or 5 layers!)

They are really good looking guys, Janie.  We enjoy seeing Janet's photos of her grands when she puts them up.

Thanks for posting the prom pictures.  This was a neat way to avoid paying so much for a tux.

Maybe things will get back to a normal expense soon.   I applaud these boys and their attempts to stand up for what they want.   :)

WOW ... I love the outfits ... sometime we might have to post our own prom pictures to share and get a good laugh !!  But yes you men look very nice indeed !!

Janet

Thanks for your comments.  I'll bet everyone who attended the prom will always remember what these guys wore to it!  ;)  Should be a conversation starter for years to come! ;D

As long as they had fun and a good time that is all that matters! And it looks like they probably had a lot of fun. I know I wouldn't forget if someone had done something intresting like that at my prom. Something good they can always remember as well as everyone else who saw them.

I really, really, really applaud those three fellas!  May a precedent be set!  I must admit, Mark looks terrific!

Janet

Thanks for the comments.  Mark seems to have a good sense of who he is, and doesn't let peer pressure sway him.  He seems stronger in that regard than does his brother, and that surprises us (the grandparents, that is.)  I know for sure I didn't have that much self-confidence when I was in high school.  Go, Mark!  ;D
