Morning Devotional...

After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.                                          Genesis 15:1

Abram had just been through some trying experiences--a famine in the land; the defection of his nephew Lot from the path of faith; the battle with the kings--but Abram had stood firm in his faith, unmoved by the swelling tide of circumstance.

It is "after these things," that God gave Abram this word of encouragement: Fear not.

So it is as we tread this wilderness scene. Often we face trial upon trial, but our God is aware of it, and just when we need it, He gives that renewing word from Himself--fear not!
                                                            --Wm. Burnett

Though thy way be long and dreary,
eagle strength He'll still renew,
Garments fresh and foot unwearied,
tell how God has brought thee through.

Thanks Pat for putting this up early tonight.

I need some help with Zachery's diet.  I am looking for recipes with low fiber, low fat, and no spices or hot(spicy) foods.

If you come up with anything would you post it in the recipe area and IM me so I know it is there.  Thanks.
So far we figured he can eat pancakes, ham, turkey, or chicken sandwiches with lettuce and tomatoes and eggs.  He can not eat anything crunchy like chips.

I had a busy day and will say good nite to all and good morning to some.  I will see you tomorrow.
God bless you all.
Sonja

Wow!  It was busy in here yesterday.  I can't remember if I ever posted or not!  Oh well, hello today.

Sonja, I don't know of anything off the top of my head, but I'll keep my ears and eyes open!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!!

Happy Wednesday everybody!  I just stopped by to say
GOOD MORNING, Uncle Anthony!

;D

See y'all later....
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Anthony

Good morning everyone (especially Jane :D)

Lots of posts yesterday.  I did read them all but had better not reply to everyone.

It was a good devotional this morning.  Someone once told me how many times fear not appears in the bible.  Reading it so many times shows two things:

A. We humans are inclined to fear.
B. God is bigger than our fears.

It is great to read about Abraham's.  The apostle Paul used him to illustrate the doctrine of justification by faith.  Great stuff.

Anyway, just say I trust everyone has a great day today, and see y'all later on.

Anthony.

mercychild

Good morning everyone.  Sonja, so glad to see you're home.  I will try and get mom to post some later, we have a bunch.  My dad was diagnosed as diabetic a few years ago, and so my family has to watch what they eat.  She has a lot of health food books and so on.  I'm still praying for you.

Pat-I really like that devotional.  Are you following a book that you post them from?  Just out of curiosity.  Of course, we appreciate your time and faithfulness in posting for us.

Anthony-I enjoy when you expound on them too.  It's wonderful reading everyone's posts.  How's the headache?

Well, I'm going to be late for work if I spend too much more time on here.  God bless you all.  Jen.

This looks like a site that may have some good information, Sonifo:

It seems to be targeted directly to teens with Crohn's.

If other links seem promising, I'll bring them to your attention.

Edit: This looks to have a number of recipes as well:

Pat ~ Great Devotional as others  have already said.

It sounds like you have a great manufactured home factory right there near you! I use to haul prefab homes. They of course were all cut and the walls were assembled, but not fastened together. I would haul two houses to the job site and then go back and get two houses of roof trusses and deliver them to the job site, then I would take all the interior trim packs to the houses that had already been set! Then I would have to go pick up any trailers I had dropped from the morning deliveries and take them back and reload for the next day! Some days were from 5:00am until 12:00pm midnight! When they had a tornado hit Xenia, Ohio, it hit Arrowhead homes and the houses I had taken there a few years before were blown away! I had quit hauling homes by then, They had decided to start building the modular type which was a room at a time that was hauled by truck and then the next room was added until the building was finished. They had to be set by crane!

I know this is more than anyone wanted to know, but it is great to be able to reminisce about the old days!

Sonja ~ Are you sure about the lettuce. I was on a bland diet for stomach problems and that was one of the things I wasn't allowed. Only my experience with my case. Trying to help!

Etta Sue

In re to manufactured homes.  I don't know how it was taken to the site but my niece lives in Michigan and she has a two-story with basement manufactured home.  I have never seen it but Ivalou says you would never know it was a manufactured home.  I am assuming it, too, was brought to the site and assembled after the foundation/basement was done.

Pat ~ I see your Royal Homes and Quality Homes are what I was taking about that my niece has.  Looks like very nice homes.

Marilyn ~ I do not see how people can be cruel to any breathing things.  Does spiders breath....?     I Love your burning name!!

Papa John ~ Seems you and Cornelia are staying young by helping and doing for others.  That is great.  You have a wonderful attitude about your back.  A positive outlook.  Great!

Jane ~ ROFL....those smileys are so cute!!!

Great devotion, Pat.

Sonja ~ Low fat, low fiber, no spices or hot spicey foods. Hmmmm!   That means no lettuce or tomatoes either.  Eggs are great and very little breads.  Even fruits are fibrous.  Milk shakes would be good with low-fat milk and ice-cream.  Sherbet?  Does Zachary like sherbet?  I have never had to be on a diet like this...I am just grasping at straws.

Good morning, Anthony.

Good morning, Jen.

Good morning, Ruth Ann.  Those two websites looks like great information for Sonja and Zachary.

It was hot in the house last evening so I opened a window or two. Then  I opened the two windows in the bedroom.  Ali didn't know what to think of that.  Still hot...even with the ceiling fan on.  So I shed some covers.  Then I got cold.  So it was a fitful night.  But oh, God's glory woke me up.  Birds started singing around 5am.  Sounded like they were on my window sill.  Ali again, was trying to investigate.  Was getting between the mini-blinds and the window.  Finally I got up around 6:30am.  Now I have a load of clothes hanging outside.  I love line dried sheets!!!  Ali is laying in a bedroom window as I type.   8)

Great devotional this morning Pat.

BTW Anthony "Fear Not' is in the bible 365 times, once for every day of the year.

In the story of Abraham both in the OT and Pauls examples in the NT show the great amount of faith that Abrahm had. Oh that I had the faith of Abarham to call those things that be not as though they were. I do that a lot in my prayers then just thank the Lord for the answers that I have yet to see. Just like my prayers for my house up north. For the last 6 months I have been thanking the Lord for the 2 bedroom house with a fenced yard for my dogs, near Gilbert and the g-kids. Just look what the Lord has done. The house next door to Gilbert is a 2 bedroom single wide trailer with a fenced yard for my dogs and it will be availabe when I am ready to move. Do you know how hard it is to find a house where dogs/pets are welcome? My Lord went there and prepared a place for me. Keeping his word, and I by faith have been thanking Him for 6 months for something I did not see. PRAISE THE LORD

Good morning to everyone in CP.

Pat, thank you for the devotional.  When we really put our faith in God our fears are overcome and we can have peace in our hearts because we believe in God, in his power, in his love.

Anthony, thank you for your good remarks which are so true.

Jerry, I enjoyed reading about your work hauling those materials.  You had a full days work back in those days.  It is funny how there were times when we were younger we were able to do things which we couldn't begin to do today now that we have a little age on us.  Of course I have a few years on you.

Sonja, I hope you find just the right things for Jeffery's diet.  We have some friends who have that disease.  One of these is Cornelia's cousin's husband who is 80 years old now.

Marilyn, I am so glad your housing problem seems to be working out well.  I am thankful every day for the good provisions God has made for us through the years.  In 1959 we had been working for a church in Kentucky and we came to Nashville to work.  The church did not have a preacher's home so we bought a house.  When we moved to Chattanooga a few years later we kept that house and rented it to make the payments.  The rent took care of the payments for over 20 years until it was paid for.  When we retired we came back to that house and lived in it until we were able to sell it and buy where we live now.  Cornelia always says that the Lord takes care of those who don't have sense enough to take care of themselves, speaking of us. ;D

I hope you all have a good day.  We are going to have lunch  with some friends today.  I don't know what else the day will bring.  Then tonight we have our midweek service at church.

--- Papa John    ;D

Carol ~ The houses I hauled were not assembled. The walls were, but they were within the 8 ft limit for highway travel! The panels were laid flat on the trailer and the rest of the house set on top of that! The hard part was all the hours that went into driving, loading and waiting until they could get men there to help unload you! Thank you for thinking I had a hard job. I loved driving more than eating! It was a natural for me. Another God given talent I am thankful for!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful day here in Georgia.  I have the windows open and the ceiling fans going as it is headed into the mid-80s this afternoon.  This may be the day the air conditioner is turned on for the first time this year.

The devotional today fits so well with the Old Testament readings I have been doing so far this year.  When God's chosen people trusted him he provided for them but when they turned to evil, which they seemed to have done over and over, he no longer provided  for them and some terrible things happened to him.  I am glad we live after the time God provided Jesus Christ as our Saviour and we now need not live in fear.

During the night we heard a dog barking and finally my wife got up and let the cat in.  This morning when we looked at our screened in porch one of the screens had been wrecked by the big dog trying to get at the cat.  As I was leaving to go replace the screen I noticed two dogs going through the neighbors trash and then one of them got into their pool enclosure.  We called the pound as this looked like a bulldog to me and there are many small children in our neighborhood.  Of course, by the time he got here he couldn't find them.  I hope the owner's had found them and penned them up.  Didn't want to cause my neighbors problems but we have leash laws in our county and I can't afford to replace screens everyday or risk having a child attached.

Ruth Ann, I sent that website for the IBS/Chron's disease site to my son.  He has suffered with IBS for years and I thought the sight might be helpful to him.  Sonja, it is a bit overwhelming to suddenly have to change your cooking and meal preparation plans but I am sure you will get it figured out.

Yesterday there was the discussion of mobile homes.  In the early 70s, when we moved back from Alaska to Springfield, Illinois we couldn't find a house to rent.  So we purchased a mobile home and found a new and very nice park in which to live.  Fifteen months later I was transferred to Frankfort, KY and we moved the mobile home there.  Unfortunately we were not able to find a nice park in which to live and ended up in an old park with some pretty run-down mobile homes in it.  A few months later a new park opened in Frankfurt so we decided to move to that park.  The movers came and as the truck driver tried to turn onto the road from the park with the mobile in tow, he didn't turn wide enough and one side of the trailer when off the road into the ditch.  The trailer was at a terrbile angle and he couldn't get it out.  I had to go and purchase plywood to put under the wheels and I don't remember what else.  He finally got it out and nothing was damaged from the event other than our nerves.

Fifteen months later we moved again to the Washington, DC area and decided to sell the mobile so left it where it was.  We eventually got it sold.  Later we learned that a few months later a tornado came through and destroyed the mobile we had been living in.  I think God was looking out for us.  Fortunately no one was hurt when that happened.

Pat

Good Morning!

I have to hurry and post this so I can still say "Good Morning!"  I only have a couple of minutes.

I hope you get lots of help, Sonja, with a diet suitable for Zachery.

"Fear Not"!  What wonderful words!  Thanks for reminding us about them, Anthony and Marilyn.

Great to see your early morning posts, Mercychild!

It's so good to see the help that Sonja has been given by several.  Ruth Ann, those are terrific sites!

Jerry, those homes used to be a lot less as the person must buy the lot to put it on and in days gone by, Royal Homes were a good alternative to getting a wonderful home for less but now, they are just out of the world in prices!  Andrew's in-laws had a lovely bungalow that they purchased from Royal.

I love your funny quote today, Etta Sue!    ;D ;D

Good Morning, Carol.  It's always so nice to see your posts.

Papa John...
QuoteWhen we really put our faith in God our fears are overcome and we can have peace in our hearts because we believe in God, in his power, in his love.
How so very true!

Larry, it looks like rain here!  I have to take some garden waste from my back yard to the recycling area.  I'm not sure yet how I'm going to fit it into my little Saturn but maybe two trips will do it!

That was really something to read about the dogs.  What a terrible time you had!  Will it cost much to get the screen fixed or do you do it yourself?

What an interesting time you've had with your mobile home!

Well, I must get busy.  It's now past noon.  So, I must now say, "Good Afternoon"!

Jerry~I seen one of those houses being built here.  A really big house!
I can't believe you worked that hard.  My dad is still an over
the road truck driver.  He works so hard and doesn't get paid what I think
he deserves.  It takes alot out of you.

Papa John~Thanks for the reasureing words.  I am sure Zachery will live
a long life.

Etta Sue and Jerry ~I thought lettuce would be bad too but when I asked the nutruitionist
at the hospital he said it would be ok with his sandwich. He can eat
fruits, but with no skin.  Anything that can tear the intestine up with
its fibers is a no no.  His intestines are really inflamed right know and
on part of his small intestine looks like someone took a blender to it.

Ruth Ann~thank you so much for finding that site for me.  I will use those
recipes.  I will show Zachery the site later.

Etta Sue~yes Zachery likes sherburt icecream as long as it isn't to cold
I know it sounds weird but he has braces and it hurts his teeth so he
lets his icecream set for awhile to get it soft.
BTW~I also like the sound of the birds in the morning.  What a great way to
wake up.

Larry ~Dogs can sure be a nucience when they are not in their yards or chained
up.  We had a routewhieler running around our neighborhood.  He went to the
dog pound!  That is some story about your home.

I have a busy day.  I have to get pictures taken of me and Chandraya at the
photo studio for our dances.  I have dance tonight after church.

A couple weeks ago Zachery was doing his paper route and over heard some
of his customers at the old folks apartments talking about how they would have
to go upstairs to get their food and bring it back down to eat.  It is a long
walk for them.  Well one of the Ladies that was talking about it died yesturday.
Zachery was very sad because he is very close to most of his customers.
He come up with the idea that he and I could bring the food down to their
apartments and probably cause less stress for them.  So we will be doing
that today.  Sounds like fun.
I will talk to you all later.  Have a good morning and afternoon for Anthony.

Good afternoon....just popping in very quickly to say hi to you all....what a busy place last night in here....wow....it still amazes me very much,,,,,
just received some sad news....my aunt who is 73 was found in her apt.....dead..she had a heart attack in her sleep.....so my mom and sister have gone up to the funeral....it was too short a notice for me to go....
it is about 500 miles from here. But I am looking their pets for them.....:)

It doesn't seem possible this is the last day of April!  Where did the month go?

Today is lovely and sunny, and will be around 70 this afternoon.  Beautiful!!!  My hyacinths and daffodils are blooming, too.   ;D  (Just in the nick of time to get a couple of pictures in for the April challenge. )

Just when I go away it seems that everything happens.
Papa John I hope your back is improving.
Sonifo Sure am glad that Zach and your mom & Mike are on the mend.  I, too, wondered about the lettuce; but maybe only a leaf on a sandwich would be different than having a salad.  I know Zach is sad for the loss of his customer.

I know how you must feel, tender heart about your aunt.  My sister died that same way last year late one Tuesday night and we  didn't find her until Thursday AM.    We had a member of our church who had a stroke last Wed, but was not found until Fri PM.  She is still in intensive care, cannot talk, but...she does understand what is going on.
Even under the best of circumstances things like this do happen. My sister & I always talked by phone every day and this still happened.

Marilyn & Anthony  Thanks for the "fear not"  input.

Miss Pat Thanks again & again for the devotionals.  You use your gifts so well.

To The Rest of CP's  I  hope the rest of the day/night is full of God's special blessings for you.

Oh, Kathy, how lovely to see you posting.  I didn't know you had gone away.  Hope you had travelling mercies.

Paulette, I've been to the recycling depot 3 times.  I still have some but the lineup over there is so long.  What a waste of time sitting in a lineup.  They should have a coffee vender over there (or even green tea!  I would have bought a cup of that!!!!).

Hi Jeanne!  Glad to see that you got some photos for the Spring Challenge!

Hi Ruth!  "Fear Not" is a great couple of words to remember!

This is going to be difficult for you, Sonja, trying to eat the way Zachery can eat.  I went through this when Jack was on dialysis.  That diet is just awful.

tender heart ~ I am sorry to hear about your aunt. My sympathies go out to you and your family at this time! I hope she was a Christian and there will be much joy in knowing she has gone to meet with our lovely Lord!

Larry Hanna

Pat, the screen only cost about $16 to replace.  I could not repair it as it was an aluminum frame and that was all bent.  However, this afternoon the neighbor, who I now knows owns the dogs, came to the door with her two little boys.  She explained that while they are kept in the house the one is a pup and had gotten past her last night and the older dog had chased after the younger.  She said they had searched for both of them for 3 hours last night without success.  She offered to pay for the replacement screen and I really appreciate that and that is the proper thing to do.  Her young son just brought the money to the door.

Sonja, what a thoughtful thing to do to bring the food to the older folks.

Paulette and Jen, certainly sorry about your aunt.  These things can really be a shock when they occur so unexpectedly.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hmmmm - doesn't take a statistical mind to see that we were intended to "fear not" every day of the year, even if we need to read a different passage each day!

How neat.

Larry, that's really good that the folks paid for the screen.  They deserve credit for coming over to do that.  I can see the whole thing happening too and they must have been distraught not being able to find the dogs.

Sonja, I'm sorry I called Zachery, Jeffery.  I should have looked back and made sure about his name.  It was what we call a senior moment.  One thing about Zachary is that he is a thoughtful young man of whom you can be proud.

I had a nice visit with my brother this morning.  He usually comes over this way once a year.  He is spending the week down in Dickson, our home town.  He is coming back Friday and we are going out for lunch.

We enjoyed having lunch with some old friends today.  Their son James married our daughter Beth so we share grandchildren.  We have known each other before any of us were married back in college days.

Ppa John How nice that you have friends that have been around since your college day. I would have no idea where any of the people are that I was in school with. I do have one friend that I worked with several years ago. I think we have been friends for about 20 years. Most of the people in my past I would not want for friends unless they have also changed their lives.

Ruth Ann isn't it amazing that God wold put fear no 365 times in His word. God never ceases to amaze me with His word.
