Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

What a Future!

"God hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus."
(Ephesians 2:6-7)

All my life people told me the reason God saved us was so that when we got to Glory, we could spend the rest of eternity loving Him and worshiping Him. But, you know, that's just not so.

It sounds pretty good, but it's just something somebody made up. God isn't selfish. He's just the opposite. He's the ultimate giver. The ultimate lover. He doesn't do anything just so He can get something in return.

Why then did He save us? The Word of God tells us He did it so that in the ages to come, He could show us the exceeding riches of His grace.

Think about that! God is going to spend eternity showing the riches of His grace to you and me.

That's why He sent Jesus into the world. He so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. God gave Jesus so that He wouldn't be His only son. He sent Jesus so He could have more sons to love and give to--and He plans to spend the eons of time doing just that.

As a believer, you have the most glorious future ahead of you that anyone could ever ask. But don't wait until you get to Glory to enjoy it. You can start right now. You've already been seated in heavenly places!

Hey I'm firstest today!  I wanted to thank Marilyn for the Birthday wishes yesterday.  I had a great day ... doing nothing and lots of it!  I told my sister that I am enjoying being alive -- so far so good!  Life is good and I am glad that I have a Father who loves me and is interested in everything that concerns me.  He is soooo good -- all the time.

Y'all take care and I'll be back d'rectly.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi everyone and a belated Happy Birthday Jane.  Don't these years roll around quickly and the older we become the faster the birthdays seem to come.

It is suppose to be a beautiful day here in Georgia.  Today is our Explorer's Seniors luncheon.  We are going to a Chinese buffet that we haven't visited before.  We have about 30 who attend.  Just what I need another big meal.  :)

Janet, I believe that you can plug your cellphone in and then make a call while it is recharging.  At least that has been my understanding.  Janet or Chris I haven't read the DaVinci Code and have no intention of doing so.  Dr. Jack Van Impe has had a lot to say about the agregious errors on which the book is based.  Unfortunately a lot of people will see the movie and be mislead.

JudyB, hope your daughter has a great weekend at the concert.  Will you be accompanying her?

Liz, we shared a table Sunday for lunch with our Interim Associate Pastor and he was talking about his days as the founding pastor of a new congregation and church and that he had to be able to do everything.  It fit with your joke.  Unfortunately, I think we often expect way too much from our pastors.

Ruth Ann, what type of course are you taking?  Good to see you posting again.

Ed, your comments on your visit to Mississippi to help out mirror what I hear from members of our congregation that have made several trips there.  I am sure we are all dreading this upcoming hurricane season.

Jeanne, aren't Powerpoint Presentations fun to prepare and use.  Glad your One Great Hour of Sharing offerings are going so well.

Etta Sue, I have asked our sound booth people to set up a computer and record the Sunday Sermons directly on the computer at the same time the tape is being made.  I tried a couple of days ago to digitize one of the recent sermon tapes and while the tape was of excellent quality the digitized recording was of very poor quality.

Karmat, I hope that Krisi gets rid of that fever soon.  It is so tough to see our little ones feeling poorly.

Papa John, I hope that you and Cornelia will be able to attend the graduation.  That is a wonderful achievement for Ruth.

Thanks Janet, for the good Word.  We have SO much to look forward to...just being in His presence...to think about that for a minute is just mind-boggling :D !

I call on cellphone all the time when it is charging, it just hard to be tied to the cord....so I unplug it after a fashion.

Oh! Hey!, Good morning everyone! :D I haven't had enought coffee yet.  :coffee:

Marilyn

Good morning all you fine  people of God. I have had my first  :coffee: and will have 1 more  :coffee: when I get to my job at Jan's this morning.

I went shopping yesterday at Costco to get dog food and came away $80. lighter in my bank account. Had to pick up more vitamin supplements too.

The sun looks so nice out there this morning. Oh how I wish someone would come and mow my back yard. The grass is up to my knees now. I can't afford to hire someone  to come and mow it.

Gotta get my  act together now and get  ready for work and eat some breakfast.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO JANE!! Maybe you can do more of nothing today, and stretch out your birthday celebration for another day!  ;)  (((Big birthday hugs!)))

I got six miles woth of exercise this morning, and am going to MAKE myself get more done around here today.  That refrigerator must be cleaned out.  Does anyone else have the problem of multiplying jars and bottles in your refrigerator?  :P

The wind is blowing again.  Earlier, it was so overcast, moist feeling and cool, I had high hopes it might rain, but the wind will probably blow the clouds away.  :(

The guy who has filed a suit in court against Brown, the author of the Dainci Code, was on TV yesterday.  He has written another blasphemous book claiming that Jesus survived crucifixion!!  He claims Brown stole his ideas (his "intellectual property") when he wrote his book.  :ticked:  Yes, the books are listed as fiction, but people are so easily misled, many will believe them.  Sad.

Beth continues to get worse.  She has given up even trying to get into bed at night, as she cannot get her legs up- onto the bed.  So she sleeps in her recliner.  They called from the Doc's office yesterday and said her MRI showed "tightening around the nerves" in her neck; and that they sent it to her neurosurgeon.  So we don't know what that will mean for her future.  I'm getting weary, and if I am, can you imagine how she feels?  :'(

We are going to attend Open House at Kansas State University this weekend, with Diane and Jeff.  It will be hurry, hurry, hurry, as we need to visit both campuses.  Curtis is attending Manhattan, while Mark is attending Salina.  They will both march in the ROTC parade on Saturday morning, and Curtis is the Wimg ommander this year.  Should be fun!

My timer went off, back to the chores at hand!

Pat, what a cute card for Jane!  I wish I could bake a cake that quickly, and have it so pretty!  ;)

Etta Sue

I am so tired.  I still haven't caught up on lost sleep yet.  Maybe tomorrow.  It seems I have so much to do and not getting it done either.  I look at my yard and see all that needs to be done...picking up limbs, spraying weed killer, mowing.  Then I get overwhelmed!  I did walk outside a while ago to take a picture of my forsythia but the wind was sooooo cold....Brrrrr!  March winds are still blowing.

I went for my blood work today and stopped for breakfast afterwards.  Ivalou is baby sitting for a g-grandchild so I went by myself.  This evening is Photo Lessons.  I had to print two pictures for class...don't know why yet.

Happy Belated Birthday, Jane!  So sorry I missed it on your day.  Cute card, Pat.

And.....

to all the new members...I have been lagging behind.

Hey there all y'all!   :D  I just have to say a great big THANK YOU for the Birthday greetings!  Belated or not, I really love 'em!

Janet, I plan to do exactly that --- lots more of NOTHING today, too!   ;D  I'm so sorry Beth is having such an experience and I know you must be totally exhausted and feeling helpless to be able to help her.  That is alwys so very hard on a mother's heart, to see her child suffer.   :'(

Pat, that card is really too cute!  So glad you sent it.  <3

Ritz, and Larry, and Etta Sue and each of you, my friends here at CP ... I really appreciate your taking the time to wish me a happy birthday.

Each of my daughters called me last evening as well as two very special friends, and I received cards from each of my sisters and a couple friends so I am truly blessed!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Nita

It's still morning, so I'll say "good morning".  In about 10 minutes the morning will be gone and I still haven't gotten outside.

We're having beautiful sunshine today with lots of blue sky.  So far, that is. :)
I need to mow too.  The grass is so tall, and still so wet.  Maybe if it stays nice this afternoon I can try and see how the mower does.

I received a nice phone call this morning.  My grandson (Kaleb...5 yrs) entered a drawing contest at his preschool, and won second place.  He drew a shark. haha  His drawing and his ribbon are displayed at an art musuem, so I'll go tomorrow to see this masterpiece.  He'll meet us there so he can have his moment of glory while his family brags on him.  I'll take my camera, of course. :)

Happy Birthday again, Jane. :)

Blessings,  Nita

Prayer: Long Before the Lord
But whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with Him, he would
take the veil off until he came out; and he would come out and speak
to the children of Israel whatever he had been commanded.
--Exodus 34:34
It is written of Moses that he "went in before the Lord to speak with
him...and he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel." This
is the Biblical norm from which we depart to our own undoing and to
the everlasting injury of the souls of men. No man has any moral
right to go before the people who has not first been long before the
Lord. No man has any right to speak to men about God who has not
first spoken to God about men. And the prophet of God should spend
more time in the secret place praying than he spends in the public
place preaching....

One swallow does not make a spring nor one hot day a summer; nor will
a few minutes of frantic praying before service bring out the tender
buds or make the flowers to appear on the earth. The field must be
soaked in sunshine over a long period before it will give forth its
treasures. The Christian's heart must be soaked in prayer before the
true spiritual fruits begin to grow.  The Root of the Righteous,
121-122.

"Lord, it seems like much of what we've been emphasizing all year
requires that we slow down from our frantic pace. It takes great
spiritual discipline to 'spend more time in the secret place praying
than we spend in the public place preaching.' Quiet my heart today,
slow me down I pray. Amen."

It took quite a while, but I got the refrigerator all cleaned out, scrubbed, dumped a lot of "stuff," and now it looks nice.  The challenge will be keeping it that way.  ;)

I went out to take Beth some things, and she was in a terrible mess.  :(  She just cannot take proper care of herself, and the nurse told her that when her wounds from the burns are healed, they will also cut her off from home health.  Then there won't be anyone to help her shower and dress 3 days a week.  I just can't do it all!! :'(

Yes, Marilyn ... it will be a difficult time for Leroy as he begins the grief process although, intellectually, he understands Joanne is at peace and pain free.  The heart still hurts from the loss.

Thanks, Nita, Chris and Margit, and Kevin ... Y'all are too much <as the saying goes  <3>

Nita that's really a BIG deal for Kaleb!  Wow!  Displayed publicly and  a second place ribbon too!  That is something to brag about for sure!

Oh, yes!  Give Kaleb our congratulations on his winning drawing!  That is so cool!  8)

See y'all tomorrow!  I am going to second grade in the morning at Abby's school to help proof-read the children's stories for the book her class is writing.  :)  That will be fun.  Abby said her teacher requested her mom or me, and since two of Diane's help are off tomorrow, she can't go.  So I get to!  ;)

Hi Everyone...

So sorry to read your news, Marilyn.

Jane, I'm so happy you enjoyed your card.  Just sorry I missed it yesterday.

Great to see the rest of you in here today.

I'll be back later.

We're expecting snow!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I worked late today, so am just now getting onto my home computer.

Larry, the class was on safe driving techniques. I'm also in training on the job to set up and administer some web sites using our in-house software. My poor brain is bulging from all the stuff being crammed into it!

Janet, I think so often of Beth and your family's need to be of assistance to her. Prayers are going up for you.

Jane, I'm slow but wanted to wish you a late happy birthday. May this year be filled with His presence and the deep down joy of knowing you're a Child of God.

Judy, please ask for a blood test to see if you're low on iron. That's the way my anemia manifests itself - by exceptional tiredness and then along comes the aspect of being so very intolerant to cold.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Marilyn

Janet I would sure like to go visit my grand kids school rooms. I guess I just have to do it don't I? I am so sorry to hear that Beth is having more problems.

Not much new here. Someone is finally going to mow my back yard on Thursday if it isn't raining.

I am looking forward to having more time off to do things that I want to do. I know that the worker is giving Leroy more hours so if they give him at least 40 a month I will keep on working for him. If not I will have to look for another job. Right now he only has 13 per month and I need more than that.

Thanks for the devotional, Janet.  Please know that I am praying for you and Beth.

Happy Birthday Jane!  That cake from Pat is sure cute!

A lovely, sunny day today!  I have some pictures to put on the computer and if they turned out, will post a couple.  Wendy drove me to the hairdresser and I had a haircut, then walked home.  Thinking about all the money it cost....seems more each time! :ticked:  Made for a faster walk home.....

Lots of conversation about that book, The D. Code, and Janet it correct, many folks will not realize it is fiction.  Not even good fiction!  Had a look at it in the library and was disgusted by both style and content.  Will probably make lots of money as a movie and Satan will smile!

But we his sly methods are sure to discern

Have to go and take things out of the dryer.  Loved reading all the posts and so sorry about your friend, Marilyn.  God was kind in not allowing her to continue suffering.

Pleasant Evening/Day and God Bless.

Liz
