JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus:  Cook, Water Walker, Healer
Matthew 14:13-36  NLT

13As soon as Jesus heard the news, he went off by himself in a boat to a remote area to be alone. But the crowds heard where he was headed and followed by land from many villages. 14A vast crowd was there as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

15That evening the disciples came to him and said, "This is a desolate place, and it is getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves."

16But Jesus replied, "That isn't necessary--you feed them."

17"Impossible!" they exclaimed. "We have only five loaves of bread and two fish!"

18"Bring them here," he said. 19Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. And he took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and asked God's blessing on the food. Breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave some of the bread and fish to each disciple, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20They all ate as much as they wanted, and they picked up twelve baskets of leftovers. 21About five thousand men had eaten from those five loaves, in addition to all the women and children!

22Immediately after this, Jesus made his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake while he sent the people home. 23Afterward he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone. 24Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves.

25About three o'clock in the morning Jesus came to them, walking on the water. 26When the disciples saw him, they screamed in terror, thinking he was a ghost. 27But Jesus spoke to them at once. "It's all right," he said. "I am here! Don't be afraid."

28Then Peter called to him, "Lord, if it's really you, tell me to come to you by walking on water."

    29"All right, come," Jesus said.

So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. 30But when he looked around at the high waves, he was terrified and began to sink. "Save me, Lord!" he shouted.

31Instantly Jesus reached out his hand and grabbed him. "You don't have much faith," Jesus said. "Why did you doubt me?" 32And when they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped.

33Then the disciples worshiped him. "You really are the Son of God!" they exclaimed.

34After they had crossed the lake, they landed at Gennesaret. 35The news of their arrival spread quickly throughout the whole surrounding area, and soon people were bringing all their sick to be healed. 36The sick begged him to let them touch even the fringe of his robe, and all who touched it were healed.

Would you have been more likely to step out with Peter or to stay in the boat?  Why?

Peter was not testing Jesus, something we are told not to do.  Instead he was the only one in the boat to react in faith.  His impulsive request led him to experience a rather unusual demonstration of God's power.  Peter started to sink because he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the high waves around him.  Then his faith wavered when he realized what he was doing.

We may not walk on water, but we do walk through tough situations.  If we focus on the waves of difficult circumstances around us without looking to Christ for help, we too may despair and sink.

Maintain your faith in the midst of difficult situations, keep your eyes on Christ rather than on your inadequacies.

Good evening.  I'm getting ready to head to bed but wanted to see what you've all been up to today.

Geri-jean.  I'll pray for you.  Please, please pray for me too.   We can receive all the assurance in the world, but we know the difference in our own hearts.  Each of us know if our hearts are waiting and so ready to respond to His touch, or if we're simply walking out the day in "Christian" works.  Yes, make us all Marys.  Sitting at His feet in adoration......so filled with the passion of knowing the ONE who is everything.   I don't know how my heart became so cold, but I know the difference.     I'm so very tired of myself.  I am like you.  I can't do this anymore.  You just reminded me. :'(

The holding and restraining truth is that we are HIS, Geri-Jean.  Cold and feeling far way from your Lord, or wrapped in His very arms of Love...we are still His.   That's what saves me.  That's what saves you.

Yes, Jane!.  The rejuvinating, renewing power of the Holy Spirit!  He is the only One who can do the supernatural breaking of our hearts to love Jesus more.  That's what I need.  Again. :'(

Good exhortation, Etta Sue! Thanks

Hi everyone.

I have about 10 minutes before needing to leave for coffee so will go ahead and post.  Not much to say other than it is going to be a beautiful day in the 70s today.  My schedule is clear until evening when I have a Communications Committee meeting to attend at the church.  I was asked to serve on this committee since I serve as the webmaster for the church.  I need to gather some stats on our site for the meeting tonight and begin to think about a revision of the appearance of the site.  I don't think there will be much change in content.

Janet, glad your day at Abby's school was so enjoyable.  I am sure the teacher was most appreciative of your fine help.  I think you are doing the right thing in talking to the doctor and you need to be very candid in terms of what this is doing to you.  Perhaps the doctor will have more impact on Beth's decision process since he is not emotionally vested in the situation as you are.

Etta Sue, those are certainly cute graphics you are putting at the beginning of your postings.  Hope you get rested up and I like all those things that Jerry liked to eat.

Gord, unfortunately if you have to sit around and wait the hours can go very slowly even if you are getting paid.  Perhaps this is not the norm on the job as I am surprised they would want someone just sitting around with nothing to do on a continual basis day-after-day.

Pat and Judy, sure glad it isn't snowing here in the South.  BRRRR.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Pat

Well, today I stood at my back door and watched the sun come up!  It was lovely.  I tossed and turned so much in my bed that I finally decided to get up even though it was still dark.

We're supposed to have a lovely day today but tomorrow it's going to be raining.

Geri-Jean, I will be praying for you.  And please also pray for me.  I often think of the verse, "Pray one for another" and how true that is.

Nice to see you posting in here, Jim.  I was looking at your gallery and you have some lovely roses for sure!  They are one of my favourite flowers!

Can you put the URL in here again, Larry for your church website?  I'd love to have another look at it.

I must do an overhaul on the CP website soon.

Another day in Indiana.  I woke up refreshed.  Thank you, God.  Maybe I have finally found the lost hour of sleep since day light savings time is observed after 36 years of not changing our clocks.  I didn't remember how many years it was until I was in church Sunday and I was told then.  It was still a little daylight at 9 p.m. last evening!

Dark and gloomy here today.  I did get out last evening and trimmed my Butterfly bushes and Hibiscus.  Then I carried some fallen limbs to the garage to take back to the woods later sometime.  I can see in my near future that I will need to mow the grass, too.  Easter grass all over my yard.  That is what I call those areas of grass that grows taller than other areas...little patches of Easter grass!!

Thank you, Larry, on the comment on my animations.  I tend to have a lot that I can share....all varieties!  You can't go wrong with God, Jesus, kids, puppies and kittens.

I am praying that today's day is exactly how you plan it and your plan is to have a Blessed Day.

Marilyn

Good Morning Thank you Ettat Sue for the wonderful devotionl  this morning, it is a good word.

Today I only have to work this morning so I have already started my own laundry, I will probably have a load done before I have to leave for Fay's house.

It looks like my back yard is not going to be mowed today beause it is supposed to be raining. maybe I will have the chance to get out there with the loppers and  cut some of it down. It is pretty bad when one has to go out and scissor down the grass.

Gilbert is supposed to give me an old lawn mower that has to be fixed  so I can do my own yard. If it can't be fixed I will just have to see about renting a mower. People tell you they will mow and then  no one seems to get around to it and the grass just keeps on growing. For the last three month  I was told as as there is a doy without rain I will be there. There have been some days without rain in the last three months Not many but some.

Nice devotional, Etta Sue.  Liked that quote:
He who loses money, loses much;
he who loses a friend, loses much more;
he who loses faith, loses all.

Eleanor Roosevelt

Friends come and go in life, for various reasons....faith is something quite different.  Possibly Christians look for faith to always be at a high level, and expect more from themselves than what God intended.  I have found it to be a quiet strength, not always saving me from making mistakes, certainly always present and despite my floundering, definately the foundation that keeps life worthwhile.  We can always draw a line in the sand and start a new day....it is simply a matter of reaching out and talking to God.

I have been up since 4:30 A.M. and thought to post now as the day becomes quite weary after such an early start.  Have to go to the doctor today and so will be taking the local bus.  Went with Wendy yest. as she had her Physio and I needed to get some things at Walmart.  My daughter cried all the way  home as she drove.....so much pain, so little relief and so much trouble with ICBC.  Meanwhile, the person who caused the terrible accident goes merrily along with her life....It is the first time Wendy has cried in a very long while.  We talked about all the little blessings that have come our way recently and know that, no matter what, God is in control.  I can relate to what Gord is saying regarding his wife being ill.  My SIL has had a complete life change and also shows great courage in dealing with the limited life, terrible expense for treatments, and patience necessary to get on with life as it is today.  They will be married 25yrs. this fall....

Here is a little thought for the day, not about anything, other than a love for pets.
Can a dog take a 'catnap'?
Where do cats go during the 'dog days' of summer?

                      ;)

Pleasant day all and God Bless.

Liz
CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Gracey

I haven't posted in this area before, though I've been reading it for a bit.

One thing I've found "New Every Morning" does for me - gets me to praying for people I don't know, along with the ones I do.

Something I've learned to give thanks for: the trials I face in my life. I don't like em' - not one little bit, but I am thankful for them because I can only get through them in one way - with Christ all things are possible - including having to live with the "horrible". Seeing the Son-shine after the darkness of the pit; that always thrills me.
I am enable and strengthened by Him alone - He is my creator, and only by His grace, do I have life.

JudyB

Pat do you remember mom had trouble sleeping.  I guess we know who we take after.

Today Melaaura is not coming home from school.  She goes to a dear friend's home and tomorrow at 7:30 the bus leaves for Ford Field in Buffalo.  Uphold the youth in prayer this weekend, for safe travelling and open hearts to God's Word.  I am so excited to see what she comes home with this time.

John has run a double load this week.  That helps our pocket book.  Rick is still in Hospital, and there is no word when he will be home.  It appears that there is some family reconcilliation going on as well.  Trials do that.

Good devotional Etta Sue.  You are right we are not able to walk on water, but we are told we will walk through tough times.  It is in the tough times that we are streached.  When our faith is streached we resist.  Streaching can hurt more than anyone else can know. BUT  If we resist His streaching we also miss out on the blessing he has for us.  In the past 2 years John and I have been streached beyond what we thought we could endure, but oh the blessing at the end was well worth it.  I am praying for each of you as you caarry on in life.

The puppies woke me up at 4:30 in the morning to go out.  By the time I got up it was already too late. Oh the joys of puppie training.  Pastor Dennis has a saying, you may not enjoy every day, but you will enjoy every season.  That applies to all of life, but it sure applies to Puppie training.  They are cute little gaffers, but I don't enjoy the training misses.

Well Have to go be back later.

Janet

Hello!  I hope all of you have a Thursday that is going well, keeping your eyes on Jesus.  I can say with Geri-Jean and Nita, that I am tired of being dry, shriveled and needy.  I need the fresh rain of the Holy Spirit to drench my thirsty soul, bring me to the place of true repentance for my neglect, and show me the way He wants me to live.  Yes, we go through all the motions, never miss a church service, say all the right things, read the Word daily..........and still we can feel so dead inside.  The cares of the world press heavy on us, day after day, and I want FREEDOM!!  This is my prayer, as I prepare to go on the Walk to Emmaus the end of this month.

We will be celebrating Mark's 20th birthday this weekend when we attend open house at K-State.  It's going to be a very busy weekend!

Today is my painting class, and I hope to get started on another painting soon.  I can't work on mine while helping them with theirs, but sometimes it does get me inspired again.

Etta Sue, I know how you feel.  I told someone that I think my "spring forward" spring must be broken.  I really dislike having to adjust to the change every year.  Fall back? That one I can handle!  :)

I need to call a friend and inquire if she has time to bake a cake for Mark.  See you later.

Prayer: Just Wait on God
But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence
before Him.
--Habakkuk 2:20
I think we are the busiest bunch of eager beavers ever seen in the
religious world. The idea seems to be that if we are not running in
a circle, breathing down the back of our own neck, we are not
pleasing God!

When Jesus said, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel
to every creature" (Mark 16:15 KJV), Peter probably leaped to his
feet and, no doubt, scooped up his hat on the way out. He was
going to go right then!

But the Lord said, "Peter, come back, and 'stay in the city until
you have been clothed with power from on high' (Luke 24:49)."

I heard a Christian leader warn recently that we are suffering
from a rash of amateurism in Christian circles. Christianity has
leveled down and down and down. We are as light as butterflies--
though we flit, flit, flit around in the sunshine and imagine that
we are eagles flapping our broad wings.

Sometimes I think the Church would be better off if we would call
a moratorium on activity for about six weeks and just wait on God
to see what He is waiting to do for us. That's what they did
before Pentecost.  The Counselor, 95.

"Lord, this morning I'll stop for a while at least to 'just wait
on God.' I know You're wanting to work, and I for one am willing
to wait this morning to hear Your voice and discover what You
want to do for me today. Amen."

Thank you for posting that devotional, Chris.  It sure goes along with what has been said by some. :)

Janet, I appreciate you saying what's in your heart.  It touches and moves me when I read others saying the same thing that I've been feeling and thinking.  The Holy Spirit is within us and speaks to one,  and many.    I long to respond.

I get a little daily devotional.  Always few words but I am always blessed.  I thought I'd post today if it's ok.

Manna ~ The Great Helper
Martha Kilpatrick

John 14:14,15

If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

I will ask the Father and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;

that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know HIm, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

"The word "helper" is Greek: paraclete. In the root of this word are the ideas of advising, exhorting, comforting, strengthening, interceding, and encouraging. (Ryrie)"

This amazing help dwells within you and also among you.
"you know Him" is singular...."He dwells with you and shall be in you" - the you is plural.

The Holy Spirit dwells with you as an individual, an inside "Helper." He also abides corporately in the Body of Christ, in those who love the Lord and manifest the Spirit's 'helping' ministry to each other.

joyce robson

I was reading over the last few days postings and my heart stirred while reading Geri Jean's post.

I was wondering why no one was responding and then I saw Nita's post, Pat, Janet, Liz ---oh, how my heart swelled.

You see, I was going to post to Geri Jean that sometimes we just don't know because we are so busy trying to hear and discern HIS word.

Sometimes, we are so hard on ourselves, I think  Liz said it best that we are harder on ourselves than our Heavenly Father is.

Remember to be aware that the evil one would love to throw confusion our way at any chance that he can so don't fall for his
lies.

Look what happened when Geri Jean posted!!!

So much love came pouring forth, so many with prayer concerns of their own, so , dear Geri Jean THERE is your answers.

You reach out looking for HIS word and you have it so many times over in the love of others who are here waiting and praying.

Prayers to all who are in need today, take care and as always,

Love in Christ,

Joyce

I, too, am full of disgust about the books DaVinci code and the new comments made by the other "so call" author about Jesus's resurrection.

I have posted in Manna for the Soul a wonderful message about HIS resurrection,

I thought that I would share at this time of the year

Love in Christ,

Hi Gracey...Good to see you posting.  There's lotsa things for the soul here on this site.  I have not been to all of them yet, but will some day.

Your attitude about trials is a good one.  "Lead me through, not out of."  For a play on Popeye's words, "I yam what I yam" because of what I have been through.

Hi Everyone!

What a joy to read all of your messages just now.

Gracey, I'm so happy to see you posting in here.  This is the "hub" sort of of our site.    I also agree with your post...  Phil 4:13 is so true, "I can do ALL things through Christ which strengtheneth me" and He will strengthen us through our trials and tribulations.

Hi Ed...

Hope you're rested, Etta Sue.  Yes, I look forward to all of your neat little graphics.  Thanks for the devotional today...

And thanks Nita and Chris for yours as well.

Hello to the rest of you as well.  It's so good to see each one of you posting.

We're getting some fantastic new photos in the Gallery.  Hope y'all are enjoying them.

I'll be back a little later.
