JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Luke 10:42

"One thing is needful."  It is the Lord who says so.

In today's world health, home, family, business and pleasure clamour for our attention and time, but just to sit at Jesus' feet and hear His Word is the one thing which the Lord says is needful. The enjoyment of this privilege is not so
much a matter of time as a matter of choice.

Mary chose that good part.

Will you?
--J. Strahan

Is there a thing beneath the sun
that strives with Thee my heart to share?
Ah, tear it thence--and reign alone,
the Lord of every motion here!

Jane, I'm so happy you enjoyed your card.  Just sorry I missed it yesterday.

Belated is just fine!!

Thanks Ruth Ann and Liz.  This afternoon a huge bouquet of Peruvian Lilies was delivered.  They're from my daughter.  So, you see, belated is GREAT!   :D
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Nita

Jane....well, I guess so!  Beautiful bouquet.  :)

Janet,   so sorry to hear about Beth.    Bless her, Father    You are so strong in your faith and in your caring for her.   When I read your posts, I can feel your heart.  I'm sure everyone of us, parents and grandparents,  wonder how we could do what you do.  I know I do.  I wonder if I would be overwhelmed with sadness at times.   I admire you and your strength, dear sis.

Pat, hoping you get a good night's rest.  I have had two nights of little sleep.   oh, my...I used to sleep like a baby every night.   I wonder how aging messes with solid sleep for so many people?    Last night I thought I'd sneak up on sleep, so slept in my recliner. haha  Tried anyway.

Blessings,  Nita

Good morning to all and I hope that all have a blessed day with the Lord.

My great news is the Lord answered prayer again I got a phone call from one of the places that I ahd put a resume into and I started work yesterday.  I am picking up flowers all over the Niagara region and  I cant believe how many growers that thier are. I praise his name for giving me this job.

My wife is still in need of your prayer as she has not had a lot of good days. It so hard to see her suffer so much and she wants to do so many things but it just gets her so tired.

Pat.  Its so nice to see you on again hope that you are keeping well.
Could you email me Ruthis e-mail address please.

Well must get to bed its very late.

It's wonderful to see ya back and posting the devotional, etc., Pat.  And that devotional was TRUE.  Oh how we need to take time, no matter what, to sit at Jesus' feet.  I'm going to be preaching this Sunday, and it's about "the Lord's Prayer."  The following hymn came to mind as I was preparing:

Come, my soul, thy suit prepare
Jesus loves to answer prayer;
He Himself has bid thee pray,
Therefore will not say thee nay.

Thou art coming to a King,
Large petitlions therefore bring;
For His grace and power are such,
None can ever ask too much.

The words are by John Newton (Amazing Grace).  Oh that God would make our churches PRAYING churches!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee and a bright, sunny but a bit cool morning.  Fortunately the cafe wasn't cold like it was yesterday.

Not much on my schedule today until this evening when it is choir practice.  We will have the practice this evening and then a special rehearsal on Saturday afternoon with the orchestra and then will present the Easter music on Palm Sunday.  This is a very powerful piece of music and dramatic reading.  I am really looking forward to the experience.

Gord, nice to see that you got the job that you wanted.  Is this full-time or a part-time job?  Sorry that your wife isn't doing better.  Being ill really gets in the way of doing what a person would much prefer to be doing.

Nita, do you experience sleep apnea?  Sorry that you are not sleeping well.  I had one of those nights a couple of nights ago and I didn't like it but that is very unusual for me as usually go to sleep very easily.

Pat, thanks for that fine devotional this morning.

Liz, I usually put off getting a haircut a couple of weeks longer than I should.  I figure over the course of the year it saves me a cut or two and as you say it is expensive.  My wife said she was getting her hair cut today.

Marilyn, I expect your grandkids would be delighted for you visit their classroom.  Sorry about the pastor's wife passing.

Ruth Ann, we took one of those driving courses last year.  It is good to refresh our knowledge periodically.  This was the second time we had taken the course and it does help on the car insurance.

Janet, sorry that you are finding Beth in a declining way.  It sounds like it is time for her to face some realities of her situation and realize that she needs more help than is available as she stays in her own home.  I really feel for the delimma that you are in and know it is very difficult for her.  It sounds like you will make Abby's day with your visit to her school.

Guess I had better get busy on some other projects for today.  It seems like there is always a lot to accomplish or try to get accomplished.

I received this from a friend today.  It is really touching, and God is still in the miracle business.

This week's promise: God cares for the persecuted

Turning evil to good

Don't be intimidated by you enemies....you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him.

Finding God in Russia

In the 1930s Stalin ordered a purge of all Bibles and all believers. In Stravropol, Russia, this order was carried out with a vengeance. Thousands of Bibles were confiscated, and multitudes of believers were sent to the gulags where most died for being "enemies of the state."

Years later, CoMission sent a team to Stavropol. When the team was having difficulty getting Bibles shipped from Moscow, someone mentioned the existence of a warehouse outside of town where these confiscated Bibles had been stored since Stalin's day.

After much prayer by the team, one member finally got up the courage to go to the warehouse and ask the officials if the Bibles were still there....The answer was, "Yes!"

The next day The CoMission team returned with a truck and several Russian people to help load the Bibles. One helper was a young man—a skeptical, hostile, agnostic collegian who had come only for the day's wages. As they were loading Bibles, one team member noticed that the young man had disappeared. He had slipped away, hoping to quietly take a Bible for himself. What he found shook him to the core.

The inside page of the Bible he picked up had the handwritten signature of his own grandmother. It had been her personal Bible. Out of the thousands of Bibles still left in the warehouse, he stole the one belonging to this grandmother—a woman persecuted for her faith all her life.

He was found weeping—God was real.

Thanks Pat ... again ... for the devotional !
I am having such a struggle being a Mary....
At one time, I could say...this is ME!
Now I feel like such a hypocrite!
I need to be close to JESUS SO...desperatly. And I just get SO distracted by busyness, and that hunger and thirst are just not there.
My heart feels very scattered and divided right now.
I wonder sometimes if somehow I had pride in my relationship with God. And now he is letting me know, that even THIS is under HIS control. That "I" cannot maintain this relationship.
I have been in the wilderness for SO........long!!
I wish I could get it soon!
When I hear words about getting closer to Jesus. I feel as though I am going to miss what He is doing, because I am NOT listening.
I SO want to embrace Marys heart once again.
It seems SO distant though, and SO unappealing.
I don't know what is happening to me.
Maybe I need the world purged out of me.
Please agree with me Pat, and any one else that reads this.
That I would find JESUS more appealing to me than all the things that are distracting me.
I appreciate you all.
Thanks a TON>

Busy day today.  All for myself.  Almost done with laundry and I actually cooked.  Jerry's favorite meal was smoked sausage, green beans, potatoes, carrots and onion in a pot so I have that on the stove.  AND I baked an Angel Food cake.  I was going to ask Ivalou over and then remembered today is the day her Red Hat Society goes out to eat.  Maybe she would like leftovers tonight....

That's about it.

Interesting Pat that was the subject of Sunday Morning message.  It is a good place to be.....At Jesus feet.

I have a doctors appointment set up for the 21st.  I will ask for blood test to be done.

Janet, is there a higher supervisor you can call on?  Also is there a young person from church who could help and get her quota of volunteer hours in?  There has to be a way to help you out with this.

The temp is +1*C today.  Burrrr it is cold.  A damp cold.  The fire is going but I am chilled from it being out.

We have a friend living with us.  He drives with John, and is usually gone the same time as John.    On Monday he was admitted to Hospital for about 6 - 10 days.  Please pray for his health, and for his salvation.  Thanks

I am off have a lot to do.

Humility comes before honor.  Proverbs 15:33

Humiliation of soul always brings a positive blessing with it. If we
empty our hearts of self, God will fill them with His love. If we
desire close communion with Christ, we should remember the word of the
Lord: "This is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and
contrite in spirit and trembles at my word." Stoop if you want to
climb to heaven. Is it not said of Jesus, "He who descended is the one
who also ascended"? So must you.

Pat, why do I have to log in every other day instead of staying logged in?

Etta Sue

I just received the cutest granddaughter picture from Kitty.  I put it in the Gallery here.

Janet

Thank you to all of you for your continued prayers, and encouraging words.  Situations like yesterday are so humiliating for Beth and so heartbreaking (and backbreaking) for me.  What to do?  What to do??  I am going to go into his office and talk to her doctor again, ask him if he has any suggestions.  :'(

I had fun in second grade today!   The kids are all so well behaved and so eager to get their book ready to be shipped by Friday!  All but one had their illustrations finished (He had lots of detail, and is a meticulous worker!) and what we did today was to watch each child copy his or her page of the text, making sure all spelling, punctuation, etc. was correct and that they had all the words on each line so they all fit.  Once that was done, I helped go over the child's handwriting with a permanent black marker so it can be reproduced.  This way, their own writing and their own drawings will be in their book.  It is a LOT of work for the teacher, and she does this each year with her second graders.  There were six adults there today to help, and the teacher sure appreciated us.  :)

I need to go get more work done!  See you later.

Chris, when you login do you make sure that you click on "Forever" for the length of time?  All I can think of is that it's something to do with cookies and how your browser is accepting them.

I wanted to say----Marilyn, do go and visit your grandkids' classrooms.  I think you will find that most teachers are happy to have parents and grandparents who care enough to get involved in the kids' education.  You may need to call ahead and get permission, or stop at the office for a pass; it's a shame we have to do this, but it is necessary these days, for the kids' protection.  And I'm sure the kids will be happy to have you come!  :)

JudyB, thanks for the suggestions.  I am searching online and asking everyone with whom I come in contact, for information for possible places Beth could live.  I want it to be somewhere she will be content....if that is possible!

I'm going to my sister's church tonight, as a lady I have known for years is speaking there and I want to see and hear her again.

I am signing off now, and wish you all a restful night.

Good evening to all.  Well it was a crazy day at work today when I went to all my pick ups it seemed that nothing was ready to go into the truck so it seems that a lot of the day is wasted but I am getting payed by the hour.  So I will have time to read and to pray so I have no excuses again the Lord always makes a way.

I want to encourage all on this site that many prayers go to Lord for those who have problems and I know that they get answered. May the Lord be with you all tonight. God bless  Gord.
