Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

          Morning Devotional...

Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
          Romans 3:24

Burdened by sin, a young man asked the question, "What can I do to be saved?" He was shattered by the answer, "I am sorry to tell you but you are too late!"

Thankfully the speaker went on to explain, "You see, everything needed for your salvation was done by Christ. He finished the work that was needed for you to be saved when He took your sins upon Himself on the cross." You can do nothing to earn salvation!

Simply cry out to Christ in your distress and trust in Him.

Receive by faith what He died to give you--salvation full and free.
                                                                                  --David Croudace

          Jesus wept and died for me;
          Jesus suffered on the tree;
          Jesus waits to make me free;
          He alone can save me.

Well It looks as if I am the first one in here. I just got back home from Gilbert's house, he called and invited me over for dinner. We had a real nice visit and we may be doing something as a family this weekend.

Thank you Pat for the devotional. Sand the song "Blessed Assurance." I love that song too.

          Good Night all.

Morning folks. I'm a bit easier today and I managed to write a post for  my own website. I do not know how appropraite it would be to copy it out for this site as much of it relates to my own congregation and this weekends communion Season. If however you would like to read it then here is the link:-

          Streams in the Desert Devotional

          Title: The Lightest Cross
          Author: Mrs. Charles E. Cowman
          Source: Streams in the Desert
          John 19:17

          The Lightest Cross

"And he went out carrying his own cross" (John 19:17).

There is a poem called "The Changed Cross." It represents a weary one who thought that her cross was surely heavier than those of others whom she saw about her, and she wished that she might choose an other instead of her own. She slept, and in her dream she was led to a place where many crosses lay, crosses of different shapes and sizes. There was a little one most beauteous to behold, set in jewels and gold. "Ah, this I can wear with comfort," she said. So she took it up, but her weak form shook beneath it. The jewels and the gold were beautiful, but they were far too heavy for her.

Next she saw a lovely cross with fair flowers entwined around its sculptured form. Surely that was the one for her. She lifted it, but beneath the flowers were piercing thorns which tore her flesh.

At last, as she went on, she came to a plain cross, without jewels, without carvings, with only a few words of love inscribed upon it. This she took up and it proved the best of all, the easiest to be borne. And as she looked upon it, bathed in the radiance that fell from Heaven, she recognized her own old cross. She had found it again, and it was the best of all and lightest for her.

God knows best what cross we need to bear. We do not know how heavy other people's crosses are. We envy someone who is rich; his is a golden cross set with jewels, but we do not know how heavy it is. Here is another whose life seems very lovely. She bears a cross twined with flowers. If we could try all the other crosses that we think lighter than our own, we would at last find that not one of them suited us so well as our own.--Glimpses through Life's Windows

If thou, impatient, dost let slip thy cross,
          Thou wilt not find it in this world again;
Nor in another: here and here alone
Is given thee to suffer for God's sake.
In other worlds we may more perfectly
Love Him and serve Him, praise Him,
Grow nearer and nearer to Him with delight.
But then we shall not any more
Be called to suffer, which is our appointment here.
Canst thou not suffer, then, one hour or two?
If He should call thee from thy cross today,
Saying: "It is finished-that hard cross of thine
From which thou prayest for deliverance,"
Thinkest thou not some passion of regret
Would overcome thee? Thou would'st say,
"So soon? Let me go back and suffer yet awhile
More patiently. I have not yet praised God."
Whensoe'er it comes, that summons that we look for,
It will seem soon, too soon. Let us take heed in time
That God may now be glorified in us.
--Ugo Bassi's Sermon in a Hospital.

Life, at times, is filled with pain and sadness and we wonder how we can ever feel better, no light in view, no-one listening, or worse, telling us to " get on with it, there are others worse off than you!"
But when we are hurting, we feel no empathy for the "worse off than us."
But eventually things change, very gradually sometimes, but they do start to get better; then comes a day when we wonder why we ever felt so bad, and looking up we begin once more to praise and thank the Lord, our gracious God, for His patience with us.  It is like a light breaking through the gloom that lifts our spirits high once more and life again is well worth living.  Many on this board are suffering physical and mental pain,  also some need supplies. God sees and knows all this and we wonder sometimes why He takes so long to do anything about it!
But His love for us never ceases, and He WILL supply all our needs, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on to His promises " I will never fail you nor forsake you".
Prayers are being offered up for you.
          Love, Chris and Margit.

          Cami

Good morning to all of you! Pat, a special thank you to you for getting me back here! I had tried to set up on my little web unit a "shortcut" to get here with one click, and, in the process, lost everything! I won't try that again for awhile! Your devotional was really good, and I like the other links, too, Ria, glad that you finally had rain; I'm like you, when it rains, my old joints hurt, too! My brother, Iain, so good to hear from you, and know that you are a little better. Chris & Margit, I loved your little message. We so often forget tthat what God gives us to bear, is to make us stronger. It just doesn't seem that way at the time we are going throught it! I love all of you, and you have been more help to me than you will ever know. I pray that God blesses you all today.
          Love in Him,
          Cami

Hi everyone.  We had another inch of rain last night but didn't loose power except for a moment.  It looks like it will be a nice day today.

Pat, I really enjoyed the story you posted about Fanny Crosby yesterday.  I had no idea what her background was or how many hymns she had written.  Blessed Assurance is such a wonderful hymn and says so much in a few words.

Ria, sure sorry to read that you continue to have such bad back pain.  Hope the exercise helps bring some relief.

Chris and Margit, it is interesting how a story can make such a profound statement.  Thanks for sharing that article with us.

Iain, I certainly see nothing wrong with you putting in the link to your writing.  Hope you are feeling better.

Marilyn, I hope you can have a family time during this holiday.  Our son plans to come over for a cookout on Monday.  This is a tough time for him right now.  We have no other special plans for the weekend.

Cami, glad to see that Pat was able to get you back online with us.

Pat, glad you got your car back, hope it wasn't anything too serious or expensive.  Another fine devotional message this morning.

          Marilyn

          Good Morning:

Chris and Margit what a wonderful story. So many time have I tried to lay down my cross and pick up another that was much lighter only to find that I had to bear my own.

Good morning Larry you were posting wHile  I was  reading, I am hoping for some family time this weekend.

Hello Cami, so glad to see you back here. This is a wonderful place, so full of God's love and the family here is a great bunch where age makes no difference at all. WE have young and old.

Hello Brother Iain Still praying for your health. We do miss you though. Just come in a post you don't have to do anything you don't feel up to doing.
          Be Back Later.

My, what powerful devotions this morning.  Thank you, Pat, Iain and Chris.  I enjoyed all of them.

Pat ~ Glad you got your car fixed.  That must have been scary....no brakes.  The background of Fanny Crosby is truly inspirational.  I love the song, 'Blessed Assurance'.  Now, the new challenge.  I wonder where I might find a pet?  Hmmmm!

Jen ~ Yes, I called a plumber.  I did a load of laundry and the water wasn't draining at all.  So the plumber came and yes, he cleaned the drain out but the bad news was that it had tree roots in it...a broken tile.  But he said I was probably good for a couple of years!  Then I would have to do something and field tile drainage isn't 'code' so I would have to tie into my septic tank.  Like I say...this home ownership isn't cracked up to what they say it is.   :o

I took Jerry home yesterday.  The skies were dark but where he lives...just 10.5 miles away...it didn't rain at all.  But as soon as I got home, it was a gully washer.  I need to mow today but suppose to rain some more.

I spent last evening cleaning my computer....moving PSP stuff around and reorganizing my notebooks of lessons so I can find stuff easier.  Karma, you will be amazed when you see them!!!!  Haha.  They don't call me Ms. Organization for nothing.   ::) ::)

Good morning to all.  Stopped by for only a minute and was totally captivated by all the good things being posted.

Thanks for the devotional Pat.  I am going to get a spare scanner from my son-in-law and will post pictures if I can figure out the process.

That was a timely bit about the cross posted by Chris & Margit.  Guess we all must carry our own cross in the end.  Helps to know that others walk the same path.
The important thing is to simply keep carrying on....God Bless, Liz.

          Maria

Thank you Chris and Margit for your good message
Larry i am doing a lot of exercises today and it is helping me
          Thank you
          Bye Ria

          Pat

I have only a couple of minute in which to say, "Good Morning".

Thanks so much for the many wonderful messages already here.

Iain, I'm glad that the new "rub" worked.  Is it "Tiger Balm"?  Take it easy my dear brother.  Your words in Apples of Gold were so timely.  Thanks so much.

Streams in the Desert was a favorite devotional book in my home while growing up, Chris and Margit.  Thanks for that entry today.  So often we think that the cross we are bearing is so heavy and why can't we have a lighter one or none at all and that's when we must remember that the Lord doesn't give us a cross too heavy for us to carry.  Thanks so much for the reminder.

Larry, how are you today?  I hope that the situation at home is a little better.  We're still praying for both of you as you cope with this new trial in your life.

I'm sorry too, Ria, to read of your continued back problems.  Get better soon, please!

Yes, Etta Sue, now where in the world will you ever find a photo of a pet????

Glad you found your way back, Cami!  Do you now have it in your bookmarks?  I have a line of links called "Links" on my MSIE browser and I have CPForum there and it's always on my browser.

Great to see you too, Liz!  I read somewhere that you play golf?  Boy!  That's one sport I never got into.  I hit a practice ball once back in Grade 12 in high school.  LOL

Marilyn, you'll have to keep us posted on how your care giving job goes.  I sure was grateful for help I received from an organization here in Guelph right after my shoulder surgery 18 months ago.  Couldn't have got along without those wonderful ladies.

          Papa John

Hello everyone.  We are in Helen, Georgia, a resort town in the north Georgia mountains.  We drove over here yesterday and plan to stay until next Friday.

It is beautiful here.  There is a little river flowing by the grounds with a lot of picnic tables and shaded areas.  I hope to make some pictures.

Today we drove over to Cleveland, Georgia, and found the church where we will worship tomorrow.

I won't be responding to the posts because it costs me $6.00 an hour to get on line here and I am going to keep the cost down by being on line as little as possible.

I hope you are all having a good day.

          Hi Everyone:

Thank you Pat for the devotional.

I have just spent 2 sessions at the Air Canada Centre listening to Joyce Meyer.  There were thousands of people there, mostly women.  I came back all inspired to be a fully, devoted servant of Jesus Christ.  If you ever get a chance to here her on TV or radio, you will be blessed.

Hope you all have a nice relaxing long weekend.

Hey where is everyone. Am I the only one at home this fine Saturday evening? I guess I'm not going anywhere this weekend. I have another job interview at 2 pm tomorrow after, with a man who has 14 hours a month. The Caregiver Registry gave him my number. It's ok that he only has 14 hours, that will leave me open for something else.

Be back to check on y-all later.

My goodness, things are slow in here today.

Only one post since I left for the birthday party.  Found it a bit difficult tonight as this fellow was a personal friend of Jack's since 1955 when Jack first was on the police force in Northern Ireland.  Both were Christian friends and have remained so over the years.  This was Malcolm's 70th birthday and in two years it would have been Jack's 70th.  Oh well, the Lord needed Jack much more.

Now, how have the rest of you spent your Saturday?

          Hi ms Pat  ;D
I work to put all my things away from my trip today. I am SO happy to be home again. It is soon a pets challenge here and I am very sad. I am home not long to learn my neighbor kitty he is ate by a coyote dog when I am gone  :(. He was a picture for me in a challenge not long ago. I am glad I did have a picture from him.  - too sad  :-\

I know there is a rainbow hill, but it is my wonder if we will see the animals in the heaven one day. Did Jesus ever talk of this? is it in the Bible that we will?

Ms Pat I love you. You help me so much.

Papa John it is wonderful to see you today.
I must think, there are 92 members on the CP.
$6.00 a hour it is six cents for each.  :P
I will give to you a dollar and you can stay for many hours ok.  ;D 8) I will like it very much.

Ms Sue, Hi I am mieka. It is a great honor to me you make your first post of the CP on a my pictures. I do hope you will come to the new Every Morning and talk with everyone here. They are all so wonderful here.

Ms Ruthie, I am happy to find 54 books of Ms Joyce Meyer. I will like to read from her thoughts. I thank you that you share this with me today.  :)

Ms Pat what ever was broken with your car? is it ok now? I do hope it is safe.

I do hope it is a wonderful day for everyone. I did make a VERY big post when I an home yesterday and it is GONE.  :-\ I am happy that I do have wonderful thoughts in this post for all of you here. But now only I will know what they are  ;D  I did make some pictures to share and I hope to have a post for them soon.

          I love you all,

          and I love you God.

          JudyB

I have spent today totally hectis and wonderful.  We had my son Doug and his 2 boys and Bonnie Sean and her 2 boys.. Praise God it is the first time they have been here in over 3 years!!!  The men worked on cars and the kids played outside and we "ladies" visited and prepared food.  Isn't that rather normal?  Mom had a busy day and it was too hectic for her.  Thank goodness tomorrow will be a day of rest.

Well have a good evening and rest well.  One thing my mother used to say that I have seen to be true so very often.  Saturday night destroys Sunday.  or something to that effect.  It is so trus, a late night on Saturday will make you too tired to worship our Lord on Sunday.    So rest well and enjoy the Lords Day.

          Love all
          JudyB

          Pat

I love you too, Mieka.  And don't you ever forget that.  I pray daily for you.  My car has new rear wheel cylinders and new brake fluid.  I drove it today to the birthday party which was down near Hamilton and I experienced nothing wrong.  So I think it's now fixed.  Thanks for asking.

Sounds like you did have a busy day, Judy.
