Morning Devotional...

Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us.
Psalm 90:17

Psalm 90, authored by Moses is thought to have been written during the wilderness wanderings of Israel. We too are wandering in a weary wilderness and life at times seems hard and unfair.

In this weary world do we not desire the beauty or the favor of the Lord our God upon us?

Do we not long for "the deluge of grace," as Luther states, to be our portion? At times our yesterdays seem like a thousand years, but they don't to God.

Our future in Christ is secure. Don't give up and don't give in.

Keep busy for God and His grace will "be kindly disposed to us."

He Giveth More Grace
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Annie Johnson Flint, 1866-1932
Musician:  Hubert Mitchell

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater;
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase.
To added affliction He addeth His mercy;
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.

Refrain
His love has no limit, His grace has no measure,
His pow'r has no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again!

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father's full giving is only begun.

Hi, just a little note to say hello and thanks for all your concern and prayers for Earl and me.  Yes, sometimes it seems like the old saying is true, "when it rains it pours", or was that a Morton Salt commercial???   But God is faithful, and we will get beyond all this soon.  He is our strength and hope!

Judy McK, yes, the phlebitis is sore.  I noticed pain in my right forearm right away after the surgery, but as time went by, I also noticed some of the blood vessels were "firm" as well as painful, and then in one of them it was like a string of pearls.  Little clots.  The doctor said the clots will not travel and in time they will disappear.  So, I am not taking anything for it.
Earl is having prostate surgery, Judy.  The doctor said he would be in hospital 3 or 4 days.

Pat, when his doctor heard about the additional water, he said no, no, no!!  He told Earl that water is his enemy.  So – that was the end of that excess intake.  He is so patient with it all, though.  And he is asking for crushed ice more often too!  Thank you for that hint.

WELCOME, BKSELLER2 .....come on in and tell us a little about yourself.

Good night, all.  I will try to report on Earl's surgery tomorrow night.
Love from Janice

This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Thanks Janice for telling us about Earl and also you!  My goodness, you are going through so much these days and now having to take Earl for this surgery.  We'll be remembering you BOTH in prayer as you undertake these journeys to the hospital, etc.

I really was concerned about the extra fluids.

Talk to you soon.

Jenny. U.K. 8.30 a.m.

A very beautiful goodmorning to everyone. It really is a glorious morning here in Birmingham England.

This area of the city is on the outskirts and very pretty in parts, so that this weather shows it to full advantage.  The grass is very green and the trees are full of leaves in the park.  The squirrels are out and about enjoying themselves.  There are one or two naughty dogs who like to chase them up the trees.

The children's playground is full to overflowing during these Summer holidays from school and the park benches are well populated with "friends" who meet regularly to chat and just enjoy fellowship.,  Mostly older folk who appreciate being able to get out of doors for a while and talk to someone.  The Winter's get longer as we get older.

We have a small green in front of our house with two great oak trees.  The squirrels used to be out and about there regularly until the Telephone people put a new pole there.  Now they are mainly in the back garden where there are more trees and allotments.

My geraniums look bright and cheerful in the wall at the front of my home.

Janice I shall be in thought and prayer for you and Earl today.

Mieka, Hello! Nice to meet you.  What a pretty girl you are.......Gosh I feel old when I look at your picture.

Thanks Pat...Our Advocate never loses his cases.  I need to be reminded of this daily at the moment.

I gauge it must be about 4.20 a.m. over there so you will be in bed as I write this.

I wish ALL OF YOU a blessed and happy day in the Lord.

Love Jenny.

PAT AND LARRY..........I THINK YOU'VE GOT IT!

BY GOSH I THINK YOU'VE GOT IT!

BIGGER TYPE.......YES.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We had a nice weekend here in Georgia with no rain yesterday, although it sure looked like it was going to rain about mid-day.  After church we went out to eat with 13 other friends and the place was packed so we had a long wait.  However, it was enjoyable to visit with our friends while we waited.  Our sermon yesterday was on "The Anatomy of Sin" based on David's  sin related to Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11:1-17).  Our youth minister gave the sermon and stressed how one sin led to another sin as David tried to coverup his actions.

Jenny, it sounds like you live in a very beautiful community.  Georgia has lots of trees and with all the rain we have had this year everything is still very green.  Usually by this time of the year things have turned a bit brown, but not this year.

Mieka, it is always good to read your postings.  Hope everything is going well for you.

Judyb, sure hope you get in to see your doctor this week.  That high blood pressure is nothing to fool with and can do so much damage without you realizing it.

Pat, another fine devotional.  Hope your week won't be as hectic as some of them in the past has been.  How many more trips do you have to make with your neighbor for his treatments?

Janice, I will be waiting to hear how Earl made it through his operation today and am praying that all goes very well for him and that he will have a quick recovery.

Hi to bkseller2.  I look forward to seeing your postings here.

Jane, that was a nice gesture to have a neighboring church join with you in support and unexpected.  It sounds like you had a marvelous service and that Pastor Bev is doing well.

Etta Sue, I appreicate your daily updates on Jerry.  I will go to the "Have you prayed about it" discussions next and read your last report.

Jeanne, sure hope Gene is over his headache this morning.  It sounds like you had a busy time at your church yesterday but that all turned out well.

Karmat, it is great you are working with the youth of your church and that you have a quartet to start your youth music program.

Marilyn, are you getting unpacked and finding a place for everything?  Hope the dogs have calmed down as know you are very worried about that situation.

Marilyn

Good Morning to all. I like the bigger type easier to read.. Yes Larry the dogs have calmed down, I found a good sized gash on Gitschie's shoulder that I have doctored for her and will doctor again this morning.

Mieka, I only see 1/2 of your face in the profile  photo.

I will post an update on my friend Bev in Have You...shortly. I spoke with her last night.

Thank you for the devotional Paty and I wonder where Iain is this morning I hope he is alright.

Hello Jenny Is it cooling off therein the UK ?

Janice I will be praying for Earl and of course for you too.

I will be back later.

Good morning all!  Looks like it will be a fine day in WNC, at least the first part of it.  We usually have a thunderstorm and rain in the latter part of the day.

I like the thought that "Christ has never lost any case he pleaded" because he has pleaded MY case for ME.  Makes me go wooHOo!

Janice, I am praying for you and Earl.  I hope all goes well today, and this week.

Hey Mieka!!!  How is Sunny California doing?

Jenny and Larry -- Good morning/afternoon to you.  I hope that each of you have a wonderful God-filled day!

Take care, Pat, don't work too hard today! :-P

Janet

Good morning!  Nice to see Pat, Jenny, Janice, Larry, Marilyn, Mieka, Karma and JudyB already this morning!  I enjoyed your description of your surroundings, Jenny.

Pat, when you mentioned that we should talk about God's goodness in our lives, it makes me think of our neighbor (renter) who has just returned from Iraq.  He is in the National Guard, is in his 40s, and was over there for a few months.  He told Darrel this morning that the temperature where he was averaged 130 degrees!!  And not far from there, it is 150!!  Can you imagine??  He had a heatstroke, so they had to send him home.

Anyway, it made me think "I'm sorry, Lord, for complaining about the heat when it gets to 103 to 109!"  That must feel cool by comparison!  WHEW!!

We are getting a break from the heat here, as it is about 10 degrees cooler today than yesterday, which is a most welcome change.

Beth has gone to Amarillo again for two doctors' appointments.  I pray she gets a good report!

Janice, prayers for you and Earl today.  You have a wonderful attitude about all of your problems.  I think that is a big factor in how you do!

Mieka, how nice to see your sweet face here again!

I will be back again later!

Papa John

Good morning everyone in Christian Photographers.  I feel like a stranger this morning.  For several days we had the house full of family and then Saturday we witnessed the beautiful wedding of our granddaughter, Ruth.  Now we have no more granddaughters to get married.

Welcome to the newcomers.

Our good friend, Bob Hope, died this morning.  He was 100 years old, a good long life.  It reminds us that no matter how well known someone is, no matter how successful, death comes to us all.

I hope to post a few pictures of the wedding sometime today.  I hope you all have a good day.

Hello everyone.  Looks so far like most people are doing well.  Janice, I will be praying for you and Earl.  I look forward to a positive report.

Papa John-I'm sorry to hear of your friend.  Praying for you and your family as well.

I guess I'm not on here for long, so take care everyone.  Jen.

Janet

Darrel told me about Bob Hope when I came home from swimming this morning.  What an encouragement he was for many years to our troops all over the world!  I pray he did know Jesus as his Saviour.

First of all, thank you for the wonderful devotional.  I, too, am wondering where Iain is.  I am praying his health is fine.

Janice, it seems like you are having a time of it.  'When it rains, it pours!'  I think it was a Morton Salt ad but sure fits our situations at times.  My prayers are for you and Earl.

I know I will miss addressing someone so I had better quit while I can.

It is rainy and gloomy today.  I plan to relax and then go get Jerry's mail and then go see how he did today at the rehab.  He will be tired tonight...I am sure.

Also if anyone wants his rehab or home address, just ask by message here or email.

I'm here Etta, thanks for your concern, Just having a day off! You seem to be getting on fine without me. I have a market to do tomorrow and it means an early start. It is about 70 miles away (that is as far as I can go on this Island without falling off the end!)

If I'm up early enough I'll try and post. If not then you'll know that I slept in!!

LOL

karmat

Sleep in Iain!  Sleep in!!!

I just wanted to share a funny Travis story.   ;D  This morning, I took him to my mom's so she could watch him while I work.  He was sitting with me on the couch when "Bear in the Big Blue House" came on.  I knew that Trav had a "dirty diaper" but he was refusing to let me change him.   All of a sudden, Bear starts sniffing around the room, and I said, "See, Travis, even Bear can smell you."  Then, the bear got closer and closer to the screen, backed up and said, "I know what I smell, I smell YOU!!!"  At that, Travis turned to me with big eyes and climbed up in my lap.  hahahahahahahahahahahaha  Then, he let me change his diaper.  The bear was talking about how everyone has different smells, he wasn't telling all the kids they stank.  But it was so funny.

Anywya, I suppose I should get back to work.

Ya'll take care
karmat

Hello Everyone...

Seems I've had a full day so far.  The phone rang at 4:15 am and I got up and dressed and went to Hamilton with my neighbour.

Then when we got home, I only came into the house to let the dog out and I immediately went to Rockwood where son Andrew lives to get a roof rack for Judy McKenna's car for out trip to Calgary.

I've been to Judy's, the roof rack fits!  We're so happy and now I'm home.  I think I'll have a wee nap.  I've already been up 10 hours!!!  And it's just after lunch.

Thanks for the lovely lunch, by the way, Judy!  It was delicious!

Please, Iain, don't fall off the edge of the Isle of Lewis!   :o  We need you and appreciate you so much here on CP.  How I look forward to your daily little talks.

I know that many here do.  But I know that I like to hear that the little devotionals are appreciated so we should all let Iain know if we do.

I'm off for a nap.

So, hey!  Do y'all like the size of the text on here?  It only took me about a week and a half to figure it out!  HAHAHAHA!

I love it, Pat!  Thanks so much. :D

I always appreciate the devotionals every morning from Pat and Iain ... Usually they go right along with what I am reading in my own early morning time with the Lord.  That makes it a confirmation of 3 and the way the Lord has always confirmed His word to me!   ;)

KARMA ~ that is such a cute story about Travis and the Bear in the Big Blue House!  Guess that really makes a believer out of him now!!
I am in a sort of rush at the moment, so I will just have to wave a cheery "hi everyone"~~~~~ as I scurry out the door.  I'll be back just as soon as I can find the time and hope to catch up with all y'all.  Take care ...

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Marilyn

I would really appreciate your prayers for my little dog Gitsie and for myself. The request is under Bebe and Gitie and am very concerned about her.

Pat, glad the roof rack fits.  Is there room in it for me??

Time to see about getting some supper for my hard working hubby!

Talk to you all later..............

Haha, Karmat, that's soo funny.  I can only imagine what other television shows will scar him for life ;).  Or maybe it's his mom???;)  Just kidding.

Getting things rolling now Pat?  And the countdown is on!

Pat

Oh, Janet...    Wish I could drop in and have some of what you are preparing for Darrel for supper.   ;D

My goodness, you are scaring that wee boy, Karma!  HAHAHAHAHA!  The poor wee fellow, being afraid that this bear can smell his dirty diaper!  This is so funny!

Jen, yes, getting things moving.  At least we now have the roof rack.  That's one big thing that's out of the way now.  I have so many things to do though before we really pull out.  I have garden to weed and raspberries to pick and you know, the every day things.

Glad you're coming here to stay.

Let's sing...

DOES JESUS CARE?
(Click to hear music)

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress
And the way grows weary and long?

Refrain

Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Does Jesus care when my way is dark
With a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
Does He care enough to be near?

Refrain

Does Jesus care when I've tried and failed
To resist some temptation strong;
When for my deep grief there is no relief,
Though my tears flow all the night long?

Refrain

Does Jesus care when I've said "goodbye"
To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks,
Is it aught to Him? Does He see?

Refrain

We all seem to be so busy these days....so much to do, ..so little time! ( before Norm, Pat and I are off to Calgary).  We are really getting excited!

Many thanks to Pat's son and daughter-in-law for loaning us the car-top carrier.  Thats such a help, as I have a big car; but having to take a walker, takes up valuable and much neede space.

Karma:  Love the "Travis Story"... do tell us of those priceless things he does.  We Grandmas and Papa's here miss the cute little things our own children did.  Did you ever think of jotting down those cute things that he says and does?

I kept a "baby book" of memorable (and not so memorable) antics!...LOL

Papa John:  I look forward to seeing Dr. Ruth's wedding pictures!

Marilyn:  I hope your pets soon adjust to their new surroundings.  I have emailed you a note.

Pat:  Hmmm., photos of bridges eh?  well....the only bridge I have is in my mouth....haha... guess you don't mean that kind....LOL

Janet:  I was checking off my prayer list this afternoon.... Beth's name is at the top...just want to tell you that I'm still praying!

Iain:  I do look forward to your posts.  I have looked at "Apples of Gold" many times.  I must get over to your other Inspirational Site as well.

How is your back these days?

Jen:  I have missed reading posts from your Mom....is she still away?

Jo:  How was your weekend?

Love to all....I'll be back later..... Judy M.

BTW, I posted an update for Jerry and some pictures if y'all want to see how Jerry is doin'!  Check 'em out on 'Have You....'.

Iain ~ I am happy you are okay.  We miss you when you are gone.  70 miles and you are at the end of Isle of Lewis.  My maps say that Calgary is 2174 miles from my home and that still isn't the end!!!!  But I remember Hawaii and Bermuda.  Can't drive too far unless you are going around in circles!!

Karma ~ Funny story!!!  Poor little Travis...thinks that bear could smell him.  Give him a hug from Etta Sue.

JudyB ~ Did you get your friend signed on CP.  We need more people!!!

Pat ~ Yes, the print is larger.  I like it!!!!  I think I just realized that I will be on my way to Calgary SOON today.  I have to make sure that Jerry's daughter has keys, etc. to Jerry's place.  I, too, hope he will be much better by the time I leave.  I may get me a cell phone if I don't have to sign a contract for a year.  I have never had one.  Anyone have ideas of a cheap deal!????

Jane ~ Good evening....as you scurried out the door

Marilyn ~ Aw, Marilyn.  I thought Gitsie was getting better.  Is all of this from the bite that Bebe gave her?

Janet ~ Good evening.

Jen ~ I see you are going to Geordie, Lauren and house sit.  I wish I had someone to do that here.  But my sister-in-law said she will check on Ali and get my mail.  Now to find a mower for the yard!!!

Judy M ~ I'll be seeing you before you know it!!!

Bridges?  Hmmm.

Worked until 2:00 today and then came home and did some (very little) housework.

I know I don't often comment on the devotinals and studies, but I cerainly do appreciate them.  It would be even better, of course, if I could start the day with them rather than end it, but for now at least, this is the way it works.
