JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Wherefore, God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Morning Devotional...

Discover What the Name Can Do
[/b]

"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth."
(Philippians 2:9-10)

Once you make up your mind to keep the commands of Jesus and begin to allow the Word to dwell in you richly, the Name of Jesus will become far more powerful to you. It will become more than just a word. It will become a force that will cause every circumstance and every demon that tries to stand in your way to bow its knee to your command.

I tell you, the Name of Jesus works. There is far greater power in it than any of us have yet realized.

My faith is so set on the authority of the Name of Jesus that there are times I just say, "In the Name" and the power of God comes on the scene.

In fact, I've discovered that the Name of Jesus--just the Name alone-- is effective when spoken by a Word-abiding believer. Revelation 19:13 says the Name of Jesus is the Word of God! So, when an evil spirit is trying to bring sickness, poverty, depression, or any other garbage into my household, I don't have to quote every scripture I know to stop him. I can just point my finger at him and say, "Jesus!" That's like throwing the whole Word of God in his face at one time!

Discover for yourself what the exalted Name can do. Begin to speak it with confidence and authority. There is power in the Name of Jesus.

Thanks, Janet, for the devotional thoughts for today ... it's still late night on the 27th where I live, but I still get to be #1 here today!!   ;D

Marilyn and Al ... Thanks for your concern, but don't sing any sad songs for me because

Through it all, through it all,

I've learned to trust in Jesus,

I've learned to trust in God.

Through it all, through it all,

I've learned to depend upon his word.

Boots~I lived (off and on) for several years about 3 hours north of Dallas ... in Oklahoma!  What happened that you never made it to the Texas bash?  Or any of the others that this Jaywalker managed to intrude upon?

We have lightening and thunder and rain here ... then it all stopped and the frogs are singing their halleluyah chorus again!  More lightening and thunder rumbling across the night sky ... This is so neat!!

Gotta shut down again ... don't want to fry my computer just yet.  I'll see y'all later.[/b]
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Good Morning Jane and Janet and to all who will be stopping by later today.  I have about 5 minutes before I need to leave to pick up my friend to go to coffee at the cafe.

I worked long hours yesterday and finished up the written instructions for the laptop computer we will be sending Pat's aunt next week.  It turned out to be about 50 pages with many illustrations and hopefully not too many words.  I took a screen shot of the desktop with all the icons and then tried to individually explain what each program represented by the icon does.  It was a big job but I am fairly happy with the result.  Today I need to put in some "Favorites" that she might enjoy, delete some temporary files I have created and try to be sure everything is ready.

This afternoon I will attend an open house for the daughter of our choir director, who is graduating from high school today.  There are over 900 students in her graduating class.  Sure glad I don't need to attend the graduation as it is going to be very long.

Janet, that is a very good devotional.

Talk with you all later.  Time to leave.

Does Prayer Influence God?
JAMES 5:13-18

Today's passage assures us that "the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much" (v. 16). Our heavenly Father graciously chooses to involve the prayers of His children in the outworking of His plan. (2 Kings 20:1-6) But what about a circumstance like a friend's serious illness, for which God has already predetermined the outcome? Why should you pray about it when God already knows how the situation will turn out?

As you pray, God works in your heart so that when He does what He has chosen to do, you will be in harmony with His will. Through prayer, God lets you in on what He is doing; as your faith is strengthened, and your love and faith increase, He is glorified. In the event that God is going to call your friend home, He will also be preparing you with awareness of His presence—in that way, when you walk through the approaching stormy valley, you will have peace. And in some situations, prayer is necessary because you may be the very instrument God plans to use in bringing about a result He desires.

No farmer can control the yield of his crops. He can till the soil and plant the seed in the best way he knows, but it is the Lord who causes growth. Of course, God could produce crops without help. But no farmer sits at home doing nothing while still managing to reap a fantastic harvest. The heavenly Father in a similar way chooses to work through us because He is a God of relationship. He wants to involve us in His work!

Good Morning: Thank you Janet for your devotional this morning. I read it last night but did not post then. Oh that wonderful Name of Jesus.

Not much to say so far this morning, I have to got o work for a couple of hours to make sure that Fay has plenty to eat until I return on Monday. I am going to take her a piece of the Carrot cake that I made yesterday.

Forest got his permanent cast on yesterday and I spoke with him last night. He says his arms doesn't hurt at all and that he will have the cast for 2 months.

Still very overcast here (fog) doesn't look like the sun will come out again today.

Boots ~ Do you live near Big Sandy, Texas?  I have been there to Annie's Attic.  I used to get their crochet pattern books but I have too many now so quit subscribing.  Beautiful Victorian homes there.

Great devotions today and so nice to see so many posting.

I got a call from Ivalou this morning and I am going to her son and DIL for a cookout tomorrow after church.  Since the 500 race isn't televised in Indiana until evening, I am sure the race will be on the radio.  Since they made those changes a few years back, the 500 isn't what it used to be.  I don't even know who is sitting on the pole.  Just know that a girl qualified and is expected to go far in the race but if she knocked on my door, I wouldn't know it was her.  So much for the 500 race.

I ordered some plants last year and they didn't come up.  I called them Wednesday and they said they would re-ship and to expect them a week to 10 days.  I GOT THEM YESTERDAY.  Just two days.  So now I need to get outside and plant and then water.

When I got up, it was bright and sunshiny.  Then while I was hanging some clothes on the line, it turned dark and dark clouds.  Again now it is bright and sunny but the second load of clothes are in the dryer.  Suppose to be scattered showers today and it is only 61°F.

Pat:  I was happy to read that you are sleeping better.

Howdy!  We also have continuing overcast and cool weather---I love it!  I have gotten a little done today, laundry, floors, dishes, and went to town to cut roses from my friend's garden.  She offered to share with me, so I told her I will use them for Mom's party tomorrow.  She was so glad to be able to contribute.  Both she and her husband are having serious health issues.

Darrel's Mom, sis and bro-in-law came this morning to pick up the flowers stored here, to take to the cemetery.  His Mom is 92 years old, and still doing great!  ;D

Beth's foot is swollen to twice its size today, painful and cold.  She says she cannot put her weight on it.  I have no idea what is causing this latest problem.   :(

We will be going out to register for the school reunion after lunch.  They had early registration last night, but we didn't go. The banquet is tonight, then church services and a carry in dinner tomorrow.  So I am preparing food to take for that, as well as stuff for Mom's party later in the day.  Plenty to keep me busy, I think.

Jane, good to see your cheery post today!  God is in control, that's for sure.  Darrel always says, about problems similar to yours, "they can't eat you, that's still against the law!"  So it will all come out right eventually.

Hi there, Larry!  What a lot of work you did for Pat's aunt to get started on the computer!  That is a very thoughtful thing to do, and I'm sure it will prove so helpful to her.  I still get very frustrated, even after daily use of the computer for several years now.  Always "new worlds to conquer!"  Have a great weekend, and I am glad too, that you don't have to attend a graduation for over 900 students!  Just reading the names would seem interminable.

Hello, Marilyn.  Glad Forest's arm doesn't hurt.  Have a good weekend!

Hi there, Carol!  How are things at your end of the swamp?

I think I will go work on those eggs to be deviled.  See you all later!

Hello all!  Dreary and rainy today in Western NC.

Gonna go take pictures at my sister in law's parents' 50th wedding anniversary celebration today.  I'm taking nards along as a backup photog. :)

Here' s neat little story.  Actually, it is all completely first hand and true, so "neat" is probably way too small a word.  Take it as an encouragement that God's word does not come back void though it may be years before you start to see the fruit.

10 or so years ago, my mom, my aunt, my younger sister Kasey, and I went to visit relatives in Washington (Mt. St. Helen's area)  and Oregon (Hermiston/Pendleton).  While there, I had the opportunity to spend some time with my cousin's daughter who was 6 or 7 at the time.  I remember me and my mom talking to her and finding out that she didn't know why we had Christimas, didn't know who Jesus was, and had never seen a Bible.  This literally broke our heart because my grandmother (mom's mom, and this little girl's great grandmother) was a Godly woman and prayer warrior, but because of the cross-country move of the kids, (two of my aunts and their families), my cousin and her daughter never really knew my grandmother, and my two aunt's apparently didn't find religion too important at the time.  :(

So, we bought her a Bible (and maybe had her name put on it, don't remember) and prayed that somehow Jesus would become real to her.

Fast forward ten years to yesterday.  My mom calls and says listen to this letter.  She then reads to me a letter this young person had written her asking for prayer support for a mission trip she was going on in June, and financial support, if possible.  yep, you guessed it.  The letter was from the same little girl (who is now 16 or 17) that we had told about Jesus 10 years ago.  Did we do something to cause this trip?  Who knows?  But we did tell her about Jesus, so who knows what else may have watered and loved that little seed we planted.  Ain't God good?  <karmat waits for Janet to reply>

love ya!!

Well, we're all going over to our pastor's house today.  Everybody will be on the front sidewalk and lawn watching the "Kinetic Sculpture Race."  Entrants build their own mobile sculptures, enter them in the race, and try to complete the race to a place about 12 or 15 miles away.  Of course many don't make it.  At one point, they have to cross through aomwe water, and at another they have to go down a hill called "Dead Man's drop!"  Anyway, the people of our church will congregate on the pastor's property to watch it all go by.
Got to go make myself a low-sodium lunch now to take along.

Pat

Hi Everyone...

I just got in.  It seems I've been driving all over Guelph and didn't manage to accomplish much!  Ever have days like those?

I was hoping to get out and take some photos too as it seems so long since I've been able to do this but now it's raining.  Maybe I'll get some rainy photos.  LOL

MY ATTORNEY

After living what I felt was a "decent" life, my time on earth came to the end.  The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I thought to be a court house.

The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and have a seat by the defense table.  As I looked around, I saw the "prosecutor."  He was a villainous looking gent who snarled as he stared at me.  He definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen.

I sat down and looked to my left and there sat My Attorney, a kind and gentle looking man whose appearance seemed so familiar to me, I felt I knew Him.

The corner door flew open and there appeared the Judge in full flowing robes.  He commanded an awesome presence as He moved across the room.  I couldn't take my eyes off Him.  As He took His seat behind the bench, He said, "Let us begin."

The prosecutor rose and said,  "My name is Satan, and I am here to show you why this man belongs in hell."  He proceeded to tell of lies I had told, things I had stolen, and that I had cheated others in the past. Satan told of other horrible perversions that were once in my life, and the more he spoke, the further down in my seat I sank.  I was so embarrassed I couldn't look at anyone, even my own Attorney as the Devil told of sins that even I had completely forgotten about.

As upset as I was at Satan for telling all these things about me, I was equally upset at My Attorney who sat there silently not offering any form of defense at all.  I knew I had been guilty of those things, but I had done some good in my life - couldn't that at least equal out part of the harm I'd done?

Satan finished with a fury and said, "This man belongs in hell, he is guilty of all that I have charged, and there is not a person who can prove otherwise."

When it was His turn, My Attorney first asked if He might approach the bench.  The Judge allowed this over the strong objection of Satan, and beckoned Him to come forward.

As He got up and started walking, I was able to see Him in His full splendor and majesty.  I realized why He seemed so familiar; this was Jesus representing me, my Lord and my Savior.  He stopped at the bench and softly said to the Judge, "Hello, Father" and then He turned to address the court.

"Satan was correct in saying that this man has sinned,  I won't deny any of these allegations.  And, yes, the wage of sin is death, and this man deserves to be punished."

Jesus took a deep breath and turned to His Father with outstretched arms and proclaimed, "However, I died on the cross so that this person might have eternal life, and he has accepted Me as his Savior, so he is Mine."

My Lord continued with, "His name is written in the Book of Life, and no one can snatch him from Me.  Satan still does not understand yet.  This man is not to be given justice, but rather mercy."

As Jesus sat down, He quietly paused, looked at His Father and said, "There is nothing else that needs to be done.  I've done it all."

The Judge lifted His mighty hand and slammed the gavel down.  The following words bellowed from His lips..

"This man is free." The penalty for him has already been paid in full.  Case dismissed."

As my Lord led me away, I could hear Satan ranting and raving, "I won't give up, I will win the next one." I asked Jesus as He gave me my instructions where to go next, "Have you ever lost a case?"

Christ lovingly smiled and said, "Everyone that has come to Me and asked Me to represent them has received the same verdict as you,

Wonderful messages folks. Al, hope you enjoy the races. (You, too, Etta Sue.)

Well, my daughter awakened me this morning calling to ask if my son and I would like to see the Star Wars movie. We went, but the sound and movement on screen gave him a terrible headache, so he will probably be in bed with the door closed the remainder of the day.

Then, my daughter took me to a nice restaurant, and their grilled fish of the day was halibut (one of my favorites).

Then, she gave me a beautifully embroidered muu-muu style dress that will be pretty to wear on hot afternoons. My birthday is in late July, and she said she wanted me to enjoy my birthday present all summer, not just for a few weeks. How thoughtful!

Y'all have a good evening. I think I'm gonna rest for a while.

ALL THE TIME, Karma! Praise the Lord that you and your Mom planted the seed in that young child's heart, and only He knows how many may come into the kingdom because of it.  WONDERFUL!!!

Hi, Pat, whatcha doing?  Yes, I have had days like that---sometimes weeks, or it feels that way.

Marilyn, I expect most of us got that email from Fran.  I have had it numerous times.  But I hope somebody who hadn't read it already enjoyed it.

Ruth Ann, did you enjoy the Star Wars movie?  Sorry it was too much for Leslie.  So nice of your daughter to take you for a lunch you enjoyed and give you a gift you will enjoy as well.  Daughters are great! :-*

I need to press a shirt for Darrel.  He is wearing his custom made suit from Thailand tonight!  Woo Hoo!!  I'll have to watch that some other woman doesn't try to steal him!  ;)  (Can you tell how worried I really am?)  hahaha

Abby is staying with Beth while we go to the reunion banquet.  Beth graduated here, too, but doesn't want to go, as the kids were cruel to her in school, as they are sometimes to anyone who is a bit different from them.  Sad.

See you later!
