JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

They looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up.
Acts 1:10

They continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Acts 2:42

We cannot, as the apostles, see the Lord taken up into heaven.

But we can look steadfastly toward heaven and continue in fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayer to Him from whom comes our help.

The apostles have no monopoly on the upward look.

We can look to Him for His Word to guide us, His walk to encourage us, His worth to inspire us, and His work to occupy us.
                                                             --Elliot Van Ryn

E'en now let my ways Lord,
Be bright with Thy praise, Lord,
For brief are the days ere Thy coming again.
I'm waiting for Thee Lord,
Thy beauty to see, Lord;
No triumph for me like Thy coming again!

Thank you Pat for your email about Papa John.  I hadn't had the computer on all day, and when I did turn it on.... :'( :'( :'(

Cornelia and Papa John, you are both in my prayers.  Having walked in your shoes, I know how tough this is!

Marilyn, rest up, and I hope you are feeling better soon!

On request........

When I was in the prison ministry at "Super Max" (Maximum facility)  We used to call it the "Gray Bar Hotel".  When I arrived on Sunday mornings at 9:45.  I checked in with the deputy (Showed my ID) and he would press a buzzer to open a large sliding bar gate.  This allowed me access to  the gun box lockler where I would store my weapon.  I then would stand in front of another metal gate.  This had me standing in a small room with two metal gates, one in front of me and one to the rear, with solid walls on both sides.  No one could get to me, and I couldnt get out without the deputy pushing the button.  When I was allowed entry into the prisoner area I would go to the Chaplain's office to load two large boxes (Similar to Egg crates) with the materials I needed,  i.e., sound equipment, and film projector.  I then would have to carry both boxes down a long hallway (At least 125'). I did this for many, many years, and ALWAYS, standing behind the bars was a black man (a prisoner) named Zacharia.  Zacharia was in prison for murder, armed robbery, rape, and criminal assault, and had a very long criminal record (A lifetime of crime).  No police officer arresting Zacharia would ever think of approaching this man alone, nor without sufficient back-up.  You see, Zacaharia was 6'8" 280 lbs, all muscle, and he knew I was a retired officer.  Now here's where the Lord comes in.  Zacharia gave his heart to the Lord through the prison ministry and was a true born again, God loving, and God fearing Christian.  Zacharia would accompany me to the office and would pick-up each box with one hand and sling them onto each shoulders and we would walk together.  Why did this man do this?  Because he loved ther Lord, and this was HIS service to God.  I loved, and still love that wonderful man named Zacharia.  Pray for him, and give him a hug when you go home after the Rapture.  I will.

Pat.

Thank you for the morning (Evening) message.  You're right Pat, we didn't see Him rise up into the clouds, but we'll not miss seeing Him "IN" the clouds.  That's our blessed hope.

23rd Psalm.......

Many years ago our pastor told a story about a great theologian, Dr. Barnhouse.  Dr. Barnhouse had just lost his wife prematurely and was left with two young children.  On the morning he was driving to his wife's services he labored over how he could explain the 23rd Psalm to his young children so they would understand it.  As they were driving along the roadway a very large truck and trailor passed between their car and the bright morning sun, which cast a quick shadow into the car.  Instantly he knew he had an explanation they would understand.  Speaking to his children he asked them:  "Would you rather we were  hit by the truck, or for us to go through the shadow of the truck?"  They both answered at the same time, "Oh daddy, we'd rather be hit by the shadow of the truck".  Dr. Barnhouse then said:  "Children, that's what happened to mommie, she went through the valley of the shadow of death".  Mommie is safe on the other side."

Hello Lee!  I have read many of your posts awhile back when I visited "manna" in SeniorNet.  I feel you have a very close walk with the Lord.... wish I had the same.

Its always a struggle for me...just arising in the morning.  You see I have rheumatoid arthritis, and everything is such an effort.

I hope we get to read many more of your posts.  I see Marilyn has made a request to you.

Pat - would you have the mailing address fr Mary Maxim?  I'd like to get Karen on their mailing list!

Thanks.,

I always seem to be in a rush.  Today is my day to do the lighting for both church services, so I have to be out the door soon.

Welcome, Boots!  I know this isn't my normal way of welcoming someone new but like Pat, I just don't have it in me after hearing about Papa John.

I was almost dreading getting online this morning.  Maybe if I ignore the computer, Papa John will forever be well in my heart.

But I know Papa John wouldn't like that.  He is a rock to a lot of us here.

We love you Papa John.  Get well soon.

After a rough night with Melaura, I am up to vheck if there is an upgate on Papa John.  I will continue to pray.  Melaura's ears are aching and she is coughing to the point of her tummy heaving.  well today  is day 2 for her meds.

Gotta get, time is flying.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I am praying that no news is good news regarding Papa John so far today.   He has been through a tremendous amount of trama in the last few days.

Judyb, so sorry to read that your little girl is under the weather and do hope that she will be feeling better by the end of the day.  Thes same goes for you Marilyn.  Hope that throat is feeling better by the end of the day.  It was a very nice thing for Al to stop by and visit with you and bring some medication.

Boots, don't think I welcomed you yesterday and certainly want to correct that oversight.  I am glad to see you posting and look forward to seeing your posts and your picture.  It helps so much to have a mental image to go with a name.  Very often I find the photo is quite different than the mental image I have formed just reading the postings.

Jenny, isn't tomorrow your son's first day on his new job.  It was so nice to see him posting.

Lee, that is quite a testimony to the changing power of our Lord and Savior regarding the conversion of Zacaharia.  Thanks for sharing that with us as well as the illustration regarding death and the 23rd Psalm.

Pat and I are headed to Sunday School and church in a few mintues.  This will be our second Sunday in a row to attend Sunday School, something we haven't done in quite a few years.  Then we will probably go out to eat with friends from church.

Ruthie

Hi Lee....for sure I will remember Zacariah, the big 280 lb man, who is in prison, but who loves the Lord.  Pray that he will sense God's presence and continue to walk with Him.

For sure Christ's return is our blessed hope.  We couldn't go on if we didn't know that.  Praise God.

Keep posting Lee, they are very interesting.

Lee:  I so appreciate your morning devotional. Thank you for the message.

I read about Papa John and his set-back.  Waiting for the family is such a stressful time and I pray for peace of heart and mind for everyone - friends and family.

Ruth Ann Bice

Well, Boots, I hope if you read my welcome, you understood the INTENT, not the content! I suppose my brain and/or my fingers slept through that post - else I would have welcomed you, my SISTER!!!

I'll check with the hospital this morning and return to post any news I learn of Papa John.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Marilyn

Good Morning. Thank you Pat for the devotion and Lee for your additional words of encouragement. That is a wonderful story of the Zacharia's conversion.

My throat is feeling much better  this morning and I really slept good last night. However I am staying home from church today to rest and prepare  to go back to work tommorw.

I pray that there will be good news regarding Papa John today. May our loving Father lift him up from his bed and bring him back to us. If it is time for Papa John to go home then Praise the Lord he will be with Jesus.

Be back later.

Let's sing...

When They Ring Those Golden Bells
(Click to hear music)

There's a land beyond the river that we call the sweet forever
And we only reach that shore by faith, you see
Yes I want to see my Jesus
Shake His hand and have Him greet us
When they ring those golden bells for you and me.

Don't you hear the bells a - ringin'
Can't you hear the angels singin'
It's a glory hallelujah jubilee
In the far off great forever just beyond the shining river
When they ring those golden bells for you and me.

When our days have known their number
When in death we sweetly slumber
When the Kingdom mends the spirit to be free
There'll be no more stormy weather
We'll live peacefully together
When they ring those golden bells for you and me.

Don't you hear the bells a - ringin'
Can't you hear the angels singin'
It's a glory hallelujah jubilee
In the far off great forever just beyond the shining river
When they ring those golden bells for you and me
When they ring those golden bells for you and me.

Hi Ria...

I haven't heard any details except what I've posted.  Perhaps Larry will be able to give us more when he gets here since he lives nearby.

How's Marcel's foot?

Now, I must get ready to leave.  I have to take photos of some people hiking for our club newsletter as today is National Hiking Day and our Guelph Club is leading a hike on what we call the Starky Loop and I'm off to take photos of some of the folks.

Then I'm going to Waterloo (hopefully with Judy McKenna as well) to meet one of our SeniorNetters who is from Oklahoma!

So, I'll talk to you all later tonight.  I'll check in before I leave to see if there is any news of Papa John from Ruth Ann.

A day and a half without any internet access is terrible enough on its own, but then to finally get online and learn that Papa John has taken a turn for the worse....

I know I'm way behind but I can't stay right now.  I'll be back later (if my ISP keeps working) and I'll catch up then.

9 p.m.

Hi Karmat!

Hello Brothers and Sisters,
Pat is out this evening and we are so quiet on here.

I do ask please if any further news of Papa John, will one of you let me know by my e mail  Thank-you.

It is very, very cold here tonight. An icy wind.

I did manage to go and see Sidney my old friend in the park.  He's feeling low and yet he managed a little laugh with me.  He's 91 and is amazed at the technology of the internet.  The other day he and another friend were concerned about me and they said they were coming to "search" the net for me!  He knows Jesus and is glad that I pray for him although he doesn't go to church now, he did use to.

I didn't cook today, we had a tuna and
sweetcorn pizza delivered. , plus salad. It was lovely.

Chris starts his new job in the morning.  He will let you know how things go.  That reminds me I must prepare his sandwiches to take for his lunch.

Kay, I hope you manage to come and see us soon.

Iain I hope the wind doesn't blow too cold tonight  and that you are keeping warm in  your little "Cot".

Marilyn.  Take great care if you return to work tomorrow.  Give Bea my love when you see her again.

Pastor Al.  Special blessings for you.

Goodn-night, God Bless Everyone.
Jenny.
