JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

Morning Devotional...

Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great.
Numbers 13:28

In a famous judgement, Lord Denning said "Be you ever so tall, the law is always above you".

Sometimes, we look on our difficulties as insurmountable. We fail to grasp the fact that the One who can remove the mountain into the midst of the sea will help us overcome the obstacles in our lives.

Failure to grasp this cost the Israelites 38 years of misery. We must not fall into the same trap.
—Brian Russell

One there is above all others,
O how He loves,
His is love beyond a brother's,
o how He loves,
earthly friends may fail or leave us,
one day soothe,
the next day grieve us,
but this Friend will ne'er deceive us,
O how He loves.
M. Munn

O How I Love Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19

Words: Frederick Whitfield, 1855.
Music: 19th Century American melody

There is a name I love to hear,
I love to sing its worth;
It sounds like music in my ear,
The sweetest name on earth.

Chorus:
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Because He first loved me!

It tells me of a Savior's love,
Who died to set me free;
It tells me of His precious blood,
The sinner's perfect plea.

It tells me of a Father's smile
Beaming upon His child;
It cheers me through this little while,
Through desert, waste, and wild.

It tells me what my Father hath,
In store for every day,
And tho'I tread a darksome path,
Yields sunshine all the way.

It tells of One whose loving heart
Can feel my deepest woe,
Who in each sorrow bears a part,
That none can bear below.

It tells me what my Father hath
In store for every day,
And though I tread a darksome path,
Yields sunshine all the way.

It tells of One whose loving heart
Can feel my deepest woe;
Who in each sorrow bears
A part that none can bear below.

It bids my trembling heart rejoice.
It dries each rising tear.
It tells me, in a 'still small voice',
To trust and never fear.

Jesus, the Name I love so well,
The Name I love to hear:
No saint on earth its worth can tell,
No heart conceive how dear.

This Name shall shed its fragrance still
Along this thorny road,
Shall sweetly smooth the rugged hill
That leads me up to God.

And there with all the blood-bought throng,
From sin and sorrow free,
I'll sing the new eternal song
Of Jesus' love for me.

Chorus:
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Because He first loved me!

It all is a matter of perspective.
do you have the perspective of an ant or grasshopper (like the Israelites)
the perspective of a mere human
or God's perspective?
You might be a dog lover if:
You have more dog toys in your bed than people.

Good Morning: Thank you Pat  for the devotional this morning.

My foot is feeling much better today, I rubbed it real good with muscle rub (generic Ben Gay) last night before I went to bed, It only hurts when moved a certain way so I am being very careful with it.

Gilbert called last night to tell me that Forest (5) was climbing on one of the cars and fell off breaking both bones in his arm. It will not be set  and casted until Friday but he is wearing a temporary cast until then.

Our WM president is going away for a couple of weeks and I have been asked to coordinate the dinners for the Pastor's family while they are gone. His wife only has 2 more chemo treatments to go. The tumor has already shrunk to just about nothing.

Good morning everyone.  Just back from coffee at the cafe and enjoying a beautiful but cool morning here in Georgia.

I have good news to report, a praise certainly, that Pat saw the orthepedic doctor yesterday and after he examined her and looked at the x-rays told her she definitely does not have arthiris in her hips but rather thought it was bursitis and possibly the fibromyalgia.  He gave her a cortisone short in one hip (the one where she didn't have the surgery) and in a month she is to go back and get a shot in the other hip.  She was so relived that even though it still doesn't feel much better her whole outlook has changed as she can see a light at the end of the tunnel.  She said this morning that she was beginning to experience some improvement from the shot although the doctor said it might take a few days before the full benefit of it is felt.

Tonight is choir practice.  We have just 6 more practices before we take the month of July off.

I have a lot to do today as am working on getting the laptop ready to send to Pat's aunt.  She is flying home next Wednesday so will mail the computer on Tuesday.  She is very anxious to have it.  I am trying to put together a set of 4x6 index cards to provide some helps.  Since she has never used a computer it is hard to know what she will need and then put it in language she can understand.  Fortunately she has a next door neighbor who has taught at one of the SeniorNet Computer Learning Centers and has offered to help her as needed.  I got her signed up for a dial-up Internet connection and got her a Hotmail e-mail address so she can use Instant Messenger with me or Pat and possibly with some of her grandchildren.

Marilyn, glad to read that you are feeling better today.  Sorry to read about Forest but suppose that isn't too unusual for a young boy as they like to climb.

Pat, thank you for the devotional today.

Ruth Ann, is that just a local program for the health coverage.  My daughter has no health insurance and I would be interested in looking into it unless it is just local for your area.

Guess I need to be brief today as want to get a lot done.

Etta Sue

Sarah ~ A Senior Cruise?  How great!  Enjoy all you can.  Before long you will be out in the working field.

Ruth Ann ~ What a praise!  Insurance is a must these days and it still can be costly.  I know you rested well last night knowing you and your son are taken care of with insurance and RX benefits.

Well, I am not going to do much today.  I did too much yesterday.  I cleaned two bedrooms and a bathroom.  I am pooped, sore and tired today.  So I don't think I will get much accomplished today.  But I would like to go see if I can find a birthday gift for Kaye Don, the 31st.  Perhaps eat out somewhere, too.  My lunch eating buddy isn't here anymore and I miss him being here to go out and eat.  Ivalou has a bad cold so I doubt if she will want to go anywhere.  But I will call and see.

Now to remember to keep the pc on for tonight!!

It sounds like everyone is pretty busy today.  Marilyn, sorry about your grandson's arm, but he will have fun getting people to sign his cast.  The time will go much faster for a 5 year old than for an adult, I imagine.  However, at that age, it is at least 20 years between Christmases, so maybe not!  ;D

I had a great swim this morning, now I must clean house and be ready in case someone decides they want to stay here this weekend.  We are not having services tonight because of 8th grade promotion.  I wish we had church.

Larry, great to hear about Pat, I'm so happy for both of you.

Ruth Ann, I am praising God with you for your good news!  God is SO good!

Etta Sue, my heart goes out to you, I know you must miss Jerry more than I can imagine.  (((hugs))))

I'm at work, and we are trying to get year-end paperwork done, so I'd be skedaddle and "git r done!"

Thanks for the devotional Pat

Ruth Ann that is wonderful news. Here in Ontario we do have health coverage although it is changing for the worse I must say for us we do have 80% coverage on most things so I am thankful for that.

Marilyn: It will be good to hear when you are better again.

This is a most beautiful day - sunny and warm today and tomorrow and rain again on Friday with no gardening done I will have to hurry and get it done.  At least get my plants purchased and then perhaps the rest can be done between rain drops.  Now I need to get a bite of lunch and head off for work.

Boots:   I tell my daughter that I know very little about the computer and she is forever saying, mom you know more than what you give yourself credit for.  I am sure that you are the same as well.

Everyone have a great day.

Preaching: Preach the Person of God
He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was
strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully
convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
--Romans 4:20-21
My faith does not rest on God's promises. My faith rests upon
God's character. Faith must rest in confidence upon the One who
made the promises....
When I think of the angels who veil their faces before the God
who cannot lie, I wonder why every preacher in North America does
not begin preaching about God--and nothing else. What would happen
if every preacher just preached about the person and character of
God for an entire year--who He is, His attributes, His perfection,
His being, the kind of a God He is and why we love Him and why we
should trust Him? I tell you, God would soon fill the whole
horizon, the entire world. Faith would spring up like grass by
the water courses. Then let a man get up and preach the promises
of God and the whole congregation would join in chorus: "We can
claim the promises; look who made them!" This is the confidence;
this is the boldness.  Faith Beyond Reason, 45.

"Lord, begin with me. I commit myself today to knowing You more
fully and preaching and teaching Your person and character as the
foundation of faith. Let confidence and boldness be my testimony.
Amen."

Hi everyone.

I feel like I have been 40 years lost in cyber space, and have just crossed into the promised land.   ;D ;D

A Great Big Thanks to the Expert and Founder of this site, Pat Scott.
She has rescued me from the twin "stoob" and I am "free at last, free at last"  :)

I am glad to be posting again with my name Boots.
Hey Al, makes me think of the beginning of Psalm 1.  Blessed, Happy and Approved.  ;D

Thanks for the Devotion today Pat. I love that song "How I love Jesus", and yes He first loved me and still loves me in spite of myself.

I will close off for now, I am anxious to once again see a post from me.  ha.ha.

Congratulations, Boots, for no longer being a "stoob."   ;D ;D  Good to see your face again, too.

I'm just passing by my computer, still doing housework.  But I am making progress!

Abby just called to ask if I can pick her up tomorrow, as it is her last day of school.  ;D  I will probably do that.

I am home form work now and have been shopping at Walmart online since I don't have a Walmart near here. I needed to order some new unmentionables which of course I won't mention.  :P

Bible study tonight I am looking forward to lesson 10 in the 12 part John Bevere series Drawing near to God.

All kinds of heavy equipment working around here, cutting a couple of roads and blocking the street in front of my house, at least they have only blocked one of the driveway entrances tomy house.

It is BEAUTIFUL today. Bright sun just a little breeze. Supposed to fog rolling in tonight though according to the weather report.

Just to let those of you on this site know the truth.  Al Moak has always held my name very high. ha ha

You see I got acquainted with Brother Al years ago on Senior net when he would lead Bible Studies.

I am so happy he never thought of doing my name backwards and calling me Stoob in those days.  Of course, we had several participants and we kept Al very busy.
Some of the students would (just for the fun of it) slip an odd idea in the discussion sometimes.  Of course, I was not one of those kind.  ;D ;D

Thank you so much Brother Al for adding the "Sir" to my name.  Now if only I could teach you to put a "yes" and a "no" in front of your Sirs, we would be well on the way of teaching you some manners. ;D ;D

Pat thank you again for getting me straightened out here.  I put a caption on the latest picture.
I was tempted to give a name to the picture, but I am well mannered. ;D ;D

Boots

Janet I am glad you came by the computer and recognized my picture. Thanks for the message.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I'm thankful y'all got to see my post last night. Yes, I am indeed grateful.

Larry, check with the local Medical Association - the Nashville Medical Association has set up this program called Bridges to Care. So call and talk with them. This one is only for our county, but when I saw the tv program about it, they said that many states and county officials have looked at it with an eye to using it as a model.

No insurance is certainly a scary place to be.

I worked pretty late this evening, although the work was not stressful - just time consuming.

So, need to rest and get ready for tomorrow.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

karmat

Hey stoob Boots, at least your not a kaomal, which is what Al wudda been in your situation, and that looks a lot like "camel" to me. :) (i crack myself up, you know)

Yes, being without insurance is no fun.  Of course, being six months pregnant and no insurance is even less fun!!  (Ask me how i know).  But God is good, and it is all being worked out.

I've got test reports to write (gotta love the end of the school year), so I'm outta here.  Have a good night.

Etta Sue

It's that time again.  Time to put out the cat and call it a night.
