Morning Devotional...

Two Kinds of Lives
Psalm 1:1-6  NLT

1  Oh, the joys of those
who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
       or stand around with sinners,
       or join in with scoffers.

    2 But they delight in doing everything the LORD wants;
day and night they think about his law.

3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither,
and in all they do, they prosper.

4 But this is not true of the wicked.
They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.

5 They will be condemned at the time of judgment.
Sinners will have no place among the godly.

6 For the LORD watches over the path of the godly,
but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

What kind of person do you really want to be?

God doesn't judge people on the basis of race, sex, or national origin.  He judges them on the basis of their faith in him and their response to his revealed will.

Those who diligently try to obey God are blessed.  They are like healthy, fruit-bearing trees with strong roots, and God promises to watch over them.  God's wisdom guides their lives.

In contrast, those who don't trust and obey God have meaningless lives that blow away like dust.

There are only two paths of life before you--God's way of obedience or the way of rebellion and destruction.  Be sure to choose God's path because the path you choose determines how you will spend eternity.

Confession time.....When I read that 'stoob' was 'Boots', I was thinking female.  I am on SrNet but haven't 'talked' to Boots on SrNet.  I forgot Boots is a white-haired gentleman.  Sorry, Boots but welcome back to the fold!

Karma, Pat and Janet ~ Yes, I wish all of you were close enough to visit, picnic, talk, just be together.  I would love to play with Travis and Kristi...what fun that would be.  But following Janet around...well, I get winded just reading what Janet does.  And cleaning for Pat?  Well, you know the saying...a woman's work is never done.  So when I get 'done', I will be up at Guelph and clean at your place.  (Don't hold your breath!)  But it would be nice to get together with my CP friends.  That would be wonderful!!!

I got a gift card from the little gas station in Lapel for Kaye Don for his birthday.  He can buy gas or coffee or pizza or potato chips or even get his truck washed!  What a deal!  Then I stopped at my favorite store...Dollar General.  I always feel like I hit the jackpot when I leave there.  I got four heavy bags of stuff and only $27.  Can't do that at a regular grocery store or even WalMart!!

The rest of the day was spent lolling around...even took a nap.  Then tonight I watched the finale of American Idol...so glad Carrie Underwood won!  She is beautiful and a great singer.  A wonderful idol for America.

Be back tomorrow!!!

Etta Sue, wouldn't that be wonderful to just pick up the phone and say, "Hey! Are you busy?  Let's go and snap some photos!"  I'd love to do that.

Thanks for the devotional and also the great graphics, Etta Sue!

Talk to you tomorrow.

Don't forget to choose a caption, folks.

Thanks, ETTA SUE, for the devotional and all your great graphics each day.  I love the devotionals each of our "hosts" post each day ... Just fail to comment. Sorry.   :-[

I watched the finale of American Idol tonight as well .... YEAH CARRIE!!  I'm glad a little known country girl from Oklahoma made it BIG!!  I agree with you Etta Sue.

Today (well, Wednesday) was our last meeting before summer break with the small group Bible Study.  We finished the season with a wonderful enchillada dinner prepared by one of the group using a family recipe with homemade tortillas and sauce, etc. .... Oh so good!!

The Lord seems to be launching me into a ministry and I am feeling slightly inadequate, but He knows best and He also knows where the need is and who is best able to minister to that need.  I am available and know He will be glorified in whatever area He chooses to use me.

I have a granddaughter graduating from high school tomorrow.  I have no contact with her but arranged to have gifts sent to her anyway.  I want her to know her mother, Jean, would be so proud of her and that I love her and am proud of her as well.  One day we will be able to reunite and I can hug her for her mother as well as me ...

I'll be back later ... time is limited and I am tired.   Love to all of you.

Pat ~ We ought to meet halfway somewhere (Toledo?) and spend some time together.  That sounds like a deal...how about a plan?

Jane ~ Great...will you elaborate in what ministry?  Good to see you posting.  I miss them.  Graduations are abound around here, too.  I only have one great-niece graduating next weekend.  Ivalou and I may not be back in time for commencement...300 kids and wait all evening to hear one name.  But we are planning to go to the Open House next Sunday afternoon!  Ivalou will be bring back from Ohio one or two of her granddaughters.  Picture time coming up!!

Well, I woke up around 4 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep.  Finally got up close to 6 a.m.  I will probably mow the grass today and maybe do some shopping.

THINK AS JESUS TAUGHT

     Pray without ceasing.

   1Thessalonians 5:17

We think rightly or wrongly about prayer according to the conception
we have in our minds of prayer. If we think of prayer as the breath
in our lungs and the blood from our hearts, we think rightly. The
blood flows ceaselessly, and breathing continues ceaselessly; we are
not conscious of it, but it is always going on. We are not always
conscious of Jesus keeping us in perfect joint with God, but if we
are obeying Him, He always is. Prayer is not an exercise, it is the
life. Beware of anything that stops ejaculatory prayer. "Pray without
ceasing," keep the childlike habit of ejaculatory prayer in your
heart to God all the time.

Jesus never mentioned unanswered prayer, He had the boundless
certainty that prayer is always answered. Have we by the Spirit the
unspeakable certainty that Jesus had about prayer, or do we think of
the times when God does not seem to have answered prayer? "Every one
that asketh receiveth." We say - "But..., but . . ." God answers
prayer in the best way, not sometimes, but every time, although the
immediate manifestation of the answer in the domain in which we want
it may not always follow. Do we expect God to answer prayer?

The danger with us is that we want to water down the things that
Jesus says and make them mean something in accordance with common
sense; if it were only common sense, it was not worth while for Him
to say it. The things Jesus says about prayer are supernatural
revelations.

Good Morning: Thank you Etta Sue fpr the devotional today and for you work to help Pat withthe administrative duties here on CP.

Time is getting close for me to have to move, I want to be out of here soon. A niece of Fay's is coming for a visit in July so I won't be working for her during the time that her niece is here and I don't know how long that will be. So I need to get a place before that times comes and get myself moved. Please renew your prayers in my behalf.(Not to visit me  but to visit Fay.)

It looks like another beautiful day here today. Yesterday day it got up to almost 70* very warm for this neck of the woods. Then I had to keep the windows and doors closed because of all the dust and noise of the heavy equipment moving earth around cutting the road behind me.

May 26 - Be Patient

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh" (James 5:8 ).

Many of us have been looking for the return of the Lord Jesus for a long time. The writer has kept a simple little plaque on his office wall for over 50 years. It reads: "Perhaps today," and serves as a daily reminder that today might indeed be the day when He comes again. We do long for His appearing, and as things seem to grow worse in the world year by year, it is easy to become impatient—or perhaps even despondent—when He doesn't come.

Yet day by day "the coming of the Lord draweth nigh!" as our text teaches. "For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry" (Hebrews 10:36-37).

Even the first-century Christians had to learn patience as they also anxiously were awaiting Christ's return to deliver them out of their tribulations—tribulations which were so great they seemed to fit "end-time prophecies."

"Occupy till I come" (Luke 19:13) is His admonition to all who await His second coming. "Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when He cometh shall find so doing" (Luke 12:43). But rather than hoping the Lord will come quickly to free us from our tribulations, we should "count it all joy when [we] fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of [our] faith worketh patience" (James 1:2-3).

We need patience, and "tribulation worketh patience" (Romans 5:3). For God will render "To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life" (Romans 2:7). We should "be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises" (Hebrews 6:12). "Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord" (James 5:7). HMM

Karmat - I don't mind sounding like a camel, but please do not even begin to insinuate that I look like one!  Well bless you anyway!  Good morning to all, even Stoob.  By the way, Karma - you aren't what yer cracked up to be.

karmat

harharhar Al. ;)

Jane, if we were fully equipped to do what God called us to do, we wouldn't be able to see His glory in it, and we would not trust Him to do it through us.  We would continue on in our own power, and never seek His.  We can't grow until we are stretched and forced to grow.

Etta -- Just thinking about having a picnic makes me want to drive north.  heck, Toledo isn't that far from Canton, NC.  Well, it is, but . . .  I'll just invite myself to your gathering with Pat. :)

Marilyn, I'm praying about your housing.  I just know God has something for you because he takes care of sparrows and other little critters, and you know you mean more to him than they. :)

Great shot Matt, and take it easy Pat.  You feelin' any better?

Hello, friends.  It is a lovely, cool day here, supposed to have a high of 70.

Darrel got the rest of the tile grouted, so later, I will polish it off, then seal the grout in the morning, and we can get the extra furniture out of our bedroom and get things back in order again.  That will be nice.

I think I will go see what I can do to help my sister.  She is having trouble again, could hardly move yesterday.  I wish they would find out exactly what is causing all this misery for her!  :(  She wants to get her house in order because of all the family coming this weekend for Mom's birthday, and doesn't feel like doing ANYTHING.

Goof to see you all here today, and I shall return!

We're having another beautiful day here in Coos Bay.  I've been out pulling weeds, cutting back shrubs, but had to come in and rest.

I'm glad for Carrie, and she is so talented, pretty and nice.  She will make a great American Idol.  But my vote was for Bo, an Alabama boy. His voice was so strong and versatile.  I read from a blurb from one of his band members who said the best thing that ever happened to Bo was when he joined the church. :)   I believe that he and Carrie are both Christians.   This has been a good season.  The first time I've ever voted. :)

Ok, Jane.  Are you going to tell us what God is doing and what ministry he's leading you to? :)

Company pulled up.  Gotta run.     love, nita

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just back from Calvin Cove where we had a nice time singing.

My good friend gave me a digital camera this morning and a memory stick reader.  This was a camera his daughter had used but had dropped it and thought it was broken.  She got a new camera and Rod couldn't find anything wrong with this one.  I took several pictures at Calvin Cove and will post a couple of them when I get a chance to work them up.

I started yesterday to prepare a booklet for Pat's aunt on how to use the computer we will be sending her next week.  It is a lot of work as did a screenshot of the desktop and then made separate images of each icon on the desktop and am preparing documentation on what each does and what she will see when she clicks on it.  I am hoping that, along with the next door neighbor and her family in the area, she will be able to use the computer without too much difficulty.  I still have a lot of work to do on it and havien't gotten anything done on it otday as was learning about the digital camera.

Good to read all the postings.  Ruth Ann, thanks for the additional information.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Well I am finally sitting down after and long but fruitful day. First off I took Jan to the doctor, Longs drugstore, then Safeway to shop for groceries.  I left there at 11:30 went to Versal's and took her out to lunch at a Greek resturant we had Gyros., back to her place for awhile then on to fay's stayed there about 2 hours, came home.

When I got here I used the weedeater some more in the back yard, repotted my spider plant, Aloe Vera, Rose Bush, and Lilac tree with the new soil I bought today. Had to sweep the porch when I got done. What a mess. Hot tired sweaty. Calling it a day now.

Anyone want to follow me around for a day?

Aw, shucks, Boots, I hate when that happens.  Please try again, though.

I had another busy day.  I went in and helped my sister clean her house, as she has been feeling really bad again; then drove to Hugoton to get Abby.  While there, I borrowed back my punch bowl, and got plates, forks, cups, napkins and tablecloths for Mom's party.  Diane had all this stuff left from Mark's reception, so she generously said we might as well use it.  ;D ;D  I also picked up some pepper plants and some petunias to plant in my old bathtub out by the mailbox.

Etta Sue, am I invited to the get-together?  It sounds like a LONG way from here, but you never know what we might do!  Sure would be wonderful if we could all get together.

Marilyn, did you hit any of those groceries you shot at?  ;)  And does Fay like her new name?  ;)  Hope you don't mind a little ribbing.

Larry, when I started using a computer, I really wished for something like you are making for your aunt.  You are such a caring and giving man; God bless you.  But please do not overdo it!

Time to rustle up some supper for this girl, and she says she wants Chinese.  I told her that is Grandpa's forte` not mine.  We shall see what we come up with.............

I will try to recap what I had said earlier and sent it into cyber space.

Janet, I think I hit post and then hit the back arrow too quickly.

Larry that is nice of you to put a booklet together on computing.  I am really the dummy on this stuff sometimes.  I do most every thing with my Mouse and that works out well because I do not have a cat.  ;D

Karma, I think we might just want to check out the knees on Al.  One of the Disciples, John or James was know as "old Camel knees" because he spent so much time in prayer on his knees.

I know Brother Al is a Praying Man.
Oh by the way Al,  Stoob sends best wishes to you, and hopes your legs are doing better.

Pat I presume the baby picture is a Grandchild, sorry I am not in the know about that.  Still a cute baby.

Etta Sue, loved your devotion today.  I love Psalm 1.
I do not think I ever talked to you on Senior Net.  I have talked to you on this site about Indiana.  I lived in Evansville Indiana at one time.

Nita, make sure you are pulling weeds and not flowers.  ;D

Jane, are you the Jay Walker that was on Senior net at one time?

It has been a nice day here in Tyler Texas.  We had 1/4 inch of rain yesterday and it was welcome as we are 7 inches below normal rain fall for the year.

I will post more tomorrow.

Janet I don't mind the ribbing, ya never know what will come off the ends of your fingers when you are tired or sick. You should have seen the emails I wrote while I was sick. Sheeesh I really misspelled the words. You will notice that I made the corrections above.

Now I have injured my hand, boy oh boy I don't know what is going on. I was doling out my vitamins and meds  into pill cases and slammed my left index knuckle into the table real hard.  A big knot  has popped up and until I started typing this I had it on ice. At least I don't have to do that for another month. (put the pills in the boxes.)

Hey Boots I know Al Moak in person we live in the same town and I met him  on the phone before I moved here to Northern California from Southern California a couple of years ago. We have visited back and forth and I have visited  his church and he has visited mine. I've heard him preach too.

You should hear some of the weird conversations we have. Most are "tongue in cheek" to say the least. Before long I will be canning some more Blackberry jam for him and Marbeth. Marbeth is a wonderful artist, two of her paintings are hanging in their church.

Okay thats enough for now.

Okay, AL!  You have been holding out on us!  You never told us Marbeth is an artist!  Now I want to see some of her work, so how about it, huh?  (You can take pictures from a sitting position, if necessary!  ;))

Marilyn, what else can you do to injure yourself?  Ouchie!

I just finished polishing the tile and sealing the grout.  Now in the morning I can get my sewing machine out of the middle of my bedroom!  :)

Whewww...  I just got in the door.  I went to the mall and met a friend and we had coffee and then I went to a 24 hour supermarket and just walked around and around and then came home and took Geordie for a little walk.

Nice to see you Boots.  Sorry about you losing your post.  No that photo this morning is Matt's little girl and he won Photo of the Day on Photography Cafe so I thought I 'd put it in here for everyone to see.
