JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

      Morning Devotional...

      I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

      Psalm 40:1
      [/b]

      I often sympathised with our soldiers during the Gulf War. There they were in the desert, trained to fight the enemy, professionals; men and women prepared to die for their country. The enemy was so close, they knew that the battle would be won, and they couldn't wait to get started. Day after day they waited, trained to perfection. Days turned into weeks and even months, yet they could not take one step forward until their Commanding Officer gave the command to "go forward!" The victory was won in hours and all the preparation had been worth the wait.

      Waiting is one of the most difficult activities for the child of God. How often in the Scriptures are the people of God told that their strength is to sit still. It is much easier to be up and doing something, anything but this awful waiting. God never does anything in a hurry and He does all things well. We live in a day and age where everything is instant. Instant coffee, flick a switch and the lights come on, ready cooked meals, what next? Instant answers to prayers! What a dreadful mess we would be in if that were the case. No dear friend, we have to learn patience, yes I know it's the last word on earth that you want to hear, however it's the truth, and the truth shall set you free. Sometimes it is the case that we spend months even years waiting for God, when all the time God is waiting for us!

      If you are truly waiting for God, then my dear friend you can be assured that He will come, in His own time and in a Royal manner. There are times when God gives us a promise. We wait and wait for it to be fulfilled. Nothing happens; in fact it seems more unlikely now than ever that it will come to pass! We often try to give God a helping hand in trying to bring it to pass as if He wasn't capable of bringing it to pass Himself! We take our 'step forward in faith'! Wrong! It wasn't a step forward in faith it was a step forward in presumption!

      There is no quick fix. Wait my friend, not murmuring against God. Wait and be good soldiers until the command comes to 'go forward'.

      Iain Mackenzie

      Psalm 40
      (Click to hear melody)

      Author:  Authorized Version
      Musician:  Robert Simpson, 1790-1832,
      from a melody probably by
      Francois Hippolyte Barthelemon, 1741-1808

      1   I WAITED for the Lord my God,
               And patiently did bear;
          At length to me he did incline
               My voice and cry to hear.
      2   He took me from a fearful pit,
               And from the miry clay,
          And on a rock he set my feet,
               Establishing my way.

      3   He put a new song in my mouth,
               Our God to magnify:
          Many shall see it, and shall fear,
               And on the Lord rely.
      4   O blessed is the man whose trust
               Upon the Lord relies;
          Respecting not the proud, nor such
               As turn aside to lies.

      5   O Lord my God, full many are
               The wonders thou hast done;
          Thy gracious thoughts to us-ward far
               Above all thoughts are gone.
          None can them reckon unto thee;
               If I would them declare,
          If I would speak of them, they more
               Than can be numbered are.

      6   No sacrifice nor offering
               Didst thou at all desire;
          Mine ears thou op'st; sin-offering thou
               And burnt didst not require:
      7   Then to the Lord these were my words,
               I come, behold and see;
          Within the volume of the book
               It written is of me;

      8   To do thy will I take delight,
               O thou my God that art:
          Yea, that most holy law of thine
               I have within my heart.
      9   Within the congregation great
               I righteousness did preach:
          Lo, thou dost know, O Lord, that I
               Refrained not my speech.

      10 I never did within my heart
               Conceal thy righteousness;
          I thy salvation have declared,
               And shown thy faithfulness:
          Thy kindness, which most loving is,
               Concealed have not I,
          Nor from the congregation great
               Have hid thy verity.

      11 Thy tender mercies, Lord, from me
               O do thou not restrain;
          Thy loving-kindness, and thy truth,
               Let them me still maintain.
      12 For ills past reckoning compass me,
               And mine iniquities
          Such hold upon me taken have,
               I cannot lift mine eyes:

          More they than hairs upon my head,
               Thence is my heart dismayed;
      13 Be pleased, O Lord, to rescue me;
               Lord, hasten to mine aid.
      14 Shamed and confounded be they all
               That seek my soul to kill;
          Yea, let them backward driven be
               And sham'd, that wish me ill.

      15 For a reward of this their shame
               Confounded let them be.
          Who in this manner scoffing say,
               Aha, aha! to me.
      16 Let all who seek thy face rejoice,
               And still be glad in thee;
          Who thy salvation love, say still,
               The Lord exalted be.

      17 I'm poor and needy, yet the Lord
               Of me a care doth take;
          Thou art my Saviour and my help;
               My God, no tarrying make.

      I'm first in the door again!  ;D  Actually I was just outside and looking around in some of the other threads and watched Pat locking up for the night!    :P

      IAIN~Good thoughts for today!  I had another email regarding my young grandson/soldier.  He is learning about waiting for those orders. We can learn so much in the waiting period.  This young man is still a bit apprehensive about his orders to go to Iraq next month.  "He is packed - but not ready", his mother says.  He will be gone for one year and he is hoping and asking everyone to pray that he will be given a reprieve until his (18th) birthday.  Joy had a telephone conversation with him last night and they both felt a lot better.  She said she told him about Bev and he cried.  She then told him of the significance of her last sermon--for him!  I know he loved Bev and there was a real bond between them.  It should be a comfort to know that the very last time she ministered to anyone it was to him ... and that evening was the last time she preached at church and that, too, was a continuance of the message she had for him at her home just before church.  When I told her how grateful we all were for her taking the time to minister in such love to Bryan, she answered "I'm a minister ... that's what I do!  This (meaning the cancer) isn't going to stop me!"

      I still miss her ... guess I always will.  :(
      Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

      RIA.....I AM HERE!

      IAIN...thank-you once again for a lovely start to our day.....fits the story of the Prodigal.  His father came "running" to him.
      We take one step towards our Heavenly Father and He RUNS to us.....

      A very dull and wet, damp day here. Such a shame as the church has a jumble sale and it's a cold building so the turnout will be affected.

      PAT I heard from Kay this morning.  She tried to pop in the other day and it refused her Password.  She's changed it and will try again but has been very ill in hospital in Vancouver. Her husband , is in the Ministry and is away this weekend.  They have just been away on a cruise to Alaska! She was my first Web-friend and is a special person.  She helps out with Christian Women Today Mag. (Canadian Magazine which is also on the Web.

      I may pop in later but my fingers are so stiff and painful today as it's really damp and cold.  Yes folks I have fingerless gloves and do wear them indoors at times too!....My mother used to say "what can't be cured must be endured".How everyone prayed for her healing.  She is healed now and with Jesus.

      The Lord has put a hymn  on my lips this morning and I am singing loudly...

                "HOW GREAT THOU ART"

      Then sings my soul my Saviour's love to me.
      How great Thou art, How Great Thou Art.

      Blessings to all.
      Be at peace one with another.
      Forgive one another.
      FORGIVE YOURSELF.
      Jenny.

      Carol

      Another great day ahead!  We have church service to look forward to tonight.

      Jenny:  Sorry about your aching hands.  Do you have the electric paraffin dips that can be bought for home use?  My friend who has artheritis in her fingers has this and the warmth of the melted wax helps her begin the day - she lives in a more humid climate.

      Our niece, husband and their son is visiting next weekend so I have begun to deep clean this place and washed the blinds yesterday by dipping them in the tub and drying them outside.  Whew - even that gets heavy.  Housework is never done  :'(

      Jerry Fantastic to see that you are back & posting.

      Papa John: You must be glowing with relief.

      Many blessings to all of you this day.  Carol

      Larry Hanna

      Hi everyone.  What a day yesterday was here on CP with over 100 postings.

      Pat and Iain, fine devotional thoughts this morning.  We certainly do live in an age where we have little patience to wait.

      Jenny, sorry to hear that your hands are bothering you.  I am very fortunate in that the only physical ailment I have is my heart and most of the time I feel very good, although not very strong.  I am not afflicted with other aches and pains unless it is the angina, which seems to be under control at this time.

      I hope everyone will have a good day.  I have a lot I would like to get accomplished here in my office today and then later this afternoon will have to watch Georgia play Alabama at football and keep an eye on my Atlanta Braves as if they don't win this afternoon their season is over.

      Sonifo

      This is sure a busy place this morning.

      I haven't read the devotion but hope to when I get back.  We are going to the Big Horn mountains in Sheridan to take some more pictures.

      Hope you all have a good day.

      Marilyn

      Thank you Iain for the devotional this morning.

      I am not feeling so good this morning. I have a sore throat and it bothered me all night long so I didn't sleep much. I'll be back later. I am going to take it easy today and not go to work as  I don't want my little lady to get sick from me.

      Miss a few hours, miss a lot!  That could be our new motto here on CP the past couple of days!  Of course, I don't want to MISS anything, so I have to take the time to read it all!

      The play we attended last night was good, but I prefer the comedies.  The attendance was the lowest I have ever seen at one of their plays; not sure why.  They said their Community Concert was last night, that may have taken some of their audience.

      Jenny, I hope your fingers get limbered up and feeling better soon!

      Welcome to the new folks!  I hope you love this place as much as we do!

      Iain, great devotional today!  And Pat, I really enjoyed the Creation Moment about water.  Isn't water just the best substance??  Without it, we couldn't live.

      It is so wonderful to hear from Papa John and Jerry!!

      Thanks Iain.  Waiting can be so difficult.  Sometimes the only certainty in life seems to be it's uncertainty. Or is that such a terrible thing for a Christian to say?  I recently read:  'Write your plans in Pencil, Then give God the Eraser.'

      Jenny, have you ever tried using small metal balls with magnets inside?  'Magboy' is the name on mine.  They help to limber the hands & fingers.  I also have serious Arthritis and can relate....

      Today really feels like fall on the island.  What a difference a day can make!  Isn't that a song??  Must  get warm clothes ready to wear and lots of work ahead today....Hope you all have a wonderful day and that we will all be a blessing to everyone we meet.  God Bless, Liz.

      Janet i love it to be on CP

      When i wake up in the night then i must take a look
      on CP. But there are in our night a lot people on line
      That is our time different.
      Love for you all

      Dear Ria,

      no, we don't speak Dutch but would this do?

      Guten Tag, liebe Ria, wir wünschen Dir und alle Mal in dieser Runde einen Gottgesegneten Tag.
      And it turned out to be a wonderful day indeed, after the rain came beautiful sunshine and a wind that blows the dust away - just in case the rain didn't clean all to full satisfaction. :-)

      And....since this is only my second post here, let me say it so all can understand, in English, I wish you all a God blessed day and want to thank you for your welcoming spirit, many have come to visit and stayed for such.

      God bless you all.

      In His love, Margit

      I have been reading the news stories on the link that Pat provided for us to Sermon Audio. We really need to pray for our respective countries with all this legislation going on and debating about passing laws that would just about make speaking about Jesus a Hate crime. Quoting any scriptures as in 1 Cor. 6:9-11 could land us in prison.

      We need to stand up as Christians against the legislators trying to pass these laws.

      Ok I down from the soap box now.

      Be back later

      My, everyone has been busy posting on Pat's little website!!!  Little?  Well, I say it certainly is growing.  God is wrapping his strong arms around this website and all it's members.  Don't you feel those loving arms?  Aren't they comforting?

      Nita

      Hi from Oregon again. :)

      Marilyn, I'm sorry you're feeling puny. Take care of yourself. k?  Maybe it was just a day for you to get rested.

      I'm going with my youngest daughter to The Pottery Company later today.  She and my grandaughter started pieces, and now Angel(grandaughter)has lost interest, so I'm going to see where she is on hers and finish. :)

      Angel is into crocheting now.  I really like the idea of a 13 year old, in this day and age, finding joy and accomplishment in crocheting.  She picked it up right away and she's doing great. We'll see how long it holds her interest.  At least till she finishes it, I hope. :)  I used to have lots of unfinished everything in my "craft room". haha

       I just wanted to check in and say how wonderful you all are.  Etta Sue, I agree.........you can sure feel God's arms around this place.

       I'm looking forward to hearing from the new people who have registered.  If you get lost, just email any one of us.  We love you already and want you to feel safe and valued here.  Better than all our love, God loves you.....and if He's led you here, then please make yourself known when you are ready.  :)

       Hi Boots.  I remember you from SN. :)

       Jane, you know I'm praying for Bry and Tim.  I'm really glad that Joy and he connected again.  I know all this isn't good for a gramma's heart (the Iraq stuff).  Wouldn't it be wonderful to have it all over before he gets there!   God, have YOUR way in Iraq.....Your will be done as it is in heaven.  amen

        Gotta run and get all my stuff going in the same direction.

        love, nita

      Hello Everyone.

      Nice to SEE you Margit, and Carol and Liz...thanks both for the info.  Iike the "wax" idea.

      Pat I did some pics in the Old Park and the Elizabethan Manor the other day but the film is away to be developed...We are looking at Digi cameras now...Me and Chris...the ME part is the part that's paying!

      Gosh this is wonderful.  We are growing as a Christian Family.....that's it, these Governments are trying to shut us up and we all come to  Pat's "Hutch" to sort things out!  Making a much better job of peaceful relations than they are doing!...............AMEN FOLKS!  We don't need Arnie do we?

      Marilyn I am sorry you are not feeling any better but I am glad you are using wisdom and taking it easy.  The Lord will make up the money for you.  He will provide....even as you sleep.

      It's still pouring wirth rain here and I can hear the sound of banger fireworks going off.  As usual weeks before Guy Fawkes Night the silly folks with lots of money go out to frighten others by throwing these dreadful things about in the street.  It isn't safe outside at the moment!

      Larry I hope you enjoyed the football game.  Take care of your heart.  The Lord tells me He has given you a new heart and put His Spirit within you.  That is wonderful news...Yes?

      Etta Sue and Jerry have a lovely weekend. Glad to see you posting again Jerry.  God Bless you.

      Love and blessings to everyone.
      I am off for a nice cup of tea...Nambarrie.  It's Irish tea Pat!
      Goodnight.

      Larry Hanna

      I was just now reading on SeniorNet and found the following disturbing message regarding Papa John which had been posted by his good friend, Norm:

      QuotePapa John

      I received a call from Papa John's daughter Martha a few minutes ago...John had a bad night. This morning at six a.m. he had another heart attack. They had to go back in surgery again and found a blood clot around one of the stents. It has been removed and he is now resting peacefully. He is under heavy sedation and will be for the next 24 hours. Martha said they have been in his room twice today anmd he did not show any sign of recognition. The waiting is difficult; as they don't know what having the heart stopped may have done to his brain.

      I guess our work is cut out for us. Our friend Papa John John needs our prayers more than ever and those who prefer please send your best vibes and thoughts.

      I am also going to post this message in the Prayer discussion related to Papa John.

      Pat

      Oh, my...  I'm so sorry to read this news.  Larry thanks so much for posting it.

      Come on people.  We need to pray now like we've never prayed before.

      As I was praying I was thinking what a blessing it was that Papa John was IN THE HOSPITAL at the time of the heart attack.  What better place to be!  So PTL for that!  Then we will not believe the lies of the enemy that there has been any brain damage during the time his brain was without oxygen.  A dear friend of mine had his aeorta burst while in a resturant and they life flighted him to a hospital some 40 miles distant - the doctors didn't put him on a machine because the chances of him surviving were so slim.  But survive he did and lived another 15 years!  With NO BRAIN DAMAGE!

      Just got home from the ER where they told me that I have Viral Pharyngitis. Nothing they can do for it, told me to gargle with very salty water, and suck on cough drops and throat lozenges, and take Tylenol or something like it for the pain. I'm not contagious so can go back to work on Monday. Just letting uyou all know what's up.

      I am praying for Papa John.

      Bless your heart, Papa John.  I am sad.  This news sure isn't what I want.  But God knows best.  If he wants you in heaven, I know you are ready.  The greatest is knowing that we will meet someday.  I am praying that God's will done.  God bless you, Papa John.  And for Cornelia and Papa John's family, may God wrap his loving arms around you and give you all the comfort only He knows how.

      Until Then

      (Click to hear music)

      Words and music by Stuart Hamblen

      My heart can sing when I pause to remember
      A heartache here is but a stepping stone
      Along a trail that's winding always upward,
      This troubled world is not my final home.

      Chorus
      But until then my heart will go on singing,
      Until then with joy I'll carry on,
      Until the day my eyes behold the city,
      Until the day God calls me home.
      The things of earth will dim and lose their value
      If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
      And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
      Remembered there will only bring a smile.

      The things of earth will dim and lose their value
      If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
      And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
      Remembered there, will only bring a smile.

      Chorus
      But until then my heart will go on singing,
      Until then with joy I'll carry on,
      Until the day my eyes behold the city,
      Until the day God calls me home.
      The things of earth will dim and lose their value
      If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
      And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
      Remembered there will only bring a smile.

      This weary world with all its toil and struggle
      May take its toll of misery and strife:
      The soul of man is like a waiting falcon--
      When it's released, it's destined for the skies.

      Chorus:
      But until then my heart will go on singing,
      Until then with joy I'll carry on,
      Until the day my eyes behold the city,
      Until the day God calls me home.
      The things of earth will dim and lose their value
      If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
      And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
      Remembered there will only bring a smile.

      I will remember Papa John and Cornelia in my prayers and tomorrow when we have our prayer for those on the mend. I believe Papa John is on the mend because I believe in God.
