JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

and his dear family.

Morning Devotional...

He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.
Malachi 3:3

In ancient days, the refiner of silver would begin his work by subjecting the metal to intense heat.

Then scooping away the dross that had risen to the top, he would look over his completed work to view his own reflection.

Only when he was able to clearly see his own image did he know that his work was done.

As the Lord sends us through fiery trials, the impurities of our faith will rise to the surface so that they can be identified and scooped away, thus reflecting the image of Christ.
                                                                     --Mark Kolchin

The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.
--George Keith

Thank you Pat for the devotional.   It reminds me of the song "Refiner's Fire"

Refiner's Fire
My heart's one desire
Is to be holy
Set apart for you my Master
To be holy
Ready to do your will.

Pat if you happen to have the words and music to this song that would be wonderful

Continue to pray for Papa John

Hi Pat & Ruthie; Thought I'd come to CP to find out news about Papa John; I'm so unhappy that the news is not better! I feel like I personally know Cornelia and him thru his posts; they are such a blessing! My mother in law has a bleeding ulcer; that is why she has lost so much blood. Now that they know what it is, they can treat it, She does get to go home. She is not very happy in the hospital! I hope you all had a wonderful Lords' Day. Ruthie, I was reading your post to my husband; he has gone thru EE, too, says it is a wonderful experience! I will check in again soon, Love in Him,
Cami

8.30 a.m.  England.

Good morning Pat, Ruthie Cami...
I expect you are all curled up in bed now...even Pat and ain't that a miracle.......Pat, in bed I mean!

It is extremely cold and wet here this morning.

I shall be coing back later to find out about Papa John and to read the postings and thus get to know more about you all.  Sometimes I lose the "plot" due to the different timings., but I am thankful to Pat when she sends me any important info. down the line....or rather over the web.  I still can't get used to the jargon!

Thanks for the lovely Devotional Pat.  I always find this one encouraging at difficult times.....

Let us give thanks that Christopher starts his new job this morning.  He's gone off to catch the bus into the city. He said to say he will be in touch later and let you know how things go for him.

MARILYN AND RIA.....I hope you are both feeling better today.

IAIN "Every blessing, peace and joy".

God Bless,
'til later....
Jenny.

Praise God from Whom all blessing flow;
Praise Him all creatures here below.
Praise Him above ye heavenly host -
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

As usual, it is foggy but mild here in Arcata, California.  This is the never-too-hot never-too-cold place - the place of the Redwoods and the seashore.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Back from morning coffee and the housekeepers are here for the bi-weekly cleaning.  I have them clean my office first then I can get back in it and out of their way.  It is always nice to have the entire house cleaned at once and my wife really appreicates the great job that they do.  We had a concrete parking pad put in beside our driveway this last week so our daughter has a place to park her car without blocking one of the garage entrances.  They came back this morning and removed the forms and got paid and it has set enough now for her to park on it this afternoon when she returns from school.

We had a full day at church yesterday, including a great Sunday School class from Matthew 7 on Justice.  Then the sermon was on stewardship as our church begins its stewardship drive for the year.  Our call to worship was from Psalm's 100:

QuoteMake a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!
Worship the LORD with gladness;
Come into his presence with singing!
Enter his gates with thansgiving and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him, bless his name!
For the LORD is good; and his mercy endures forever.
And his faithfulness to all generations!

Isn't that a great Psalm.  The choir sang the song "Make a Joyful Noise" as a round for the Choral Introit.  We also received several new members into our church family and following the service we had a reception for them.  Following that we went out with 5 other people to lunch and didn't get home until 3 pm (think I mentioned this in my posting yesterday).  So it was a busy but enjoyable day until my Atlanta Braves baseball team lost to the Chicago Cubs and thus ended their great season.

Ria, sorry to hear of your sore throat and temperature and hope you will be feeling much better before Wednesday.  Marilyn, hope the headache is gone today as you return to work.

Pat, another fine devotional message this morning and Lee I read what you wrote late yesterday afternoon to Judy and it helps put things in perspective.

Etta Sue, was sorry to read of your fall and your sore muscles and skinned knee.  As we get a bit older it seems to take longer to bounce back from these falls, don't you agree Pat?  Sure hope you are feeling better from your fall as well, Pat.

Jenny, hope your son has a great day on his new job.

See you all later and hope we have some good news regarding Papa John.

Etta Sue

Thanks for the wonderful devotion.

I am happy that there has been no further news of Papa John.  No news is good news.

It is 50°F.  Bright and sunny.  The radio is saying summer weather the rest of the week.  I am going to get Jerry, take him by his doctor's office to get some medicines, and bring him here.  He is going to tell me how to finish the frame and swing seat that he was refinishing when he had his stroke. I told him that I could have sat in the swing for hours yesterday afternoon and then watch the sun set.  Love that swing.

Hello!  Good to see you all here this morning!  We have been to the pool and had our swim, now will soon start working on the tile job again.  We have some of it grouted; will finish grouting what is down, move cabinets, and lay more tile.  Hard work, but it will be nice when we get it done.  (Not perfect, but nice!) ;)

Etta Sue, how are you feeling after that fall?  Pat, how are you doing?  Marilyn, I hope that headache went away by now.

Larry, good to see you today.  The new parking pad will be a real blessing, especially considering all the rain you get there in Georgia.

Ria, I hope you get over that cold, fever, etc. quickly.  Those symptoms can make one feel so miserable.

Good morning/afternoon, Jenny!  Thinking of Chris as he begins that new job.  Blessings to you both.

And of course, Papa John is heavy on all our hearts.....but God is in control, and God loves him even more than his family and we do.  We can trust God to do the best for Papa John.

Hi, Sonja!  Hi, Al!  Hi, Cami!

Good Morning. Congratulation to you Sonja on 2nd place.

Is there any news on Papa John yet?

Thank you Pat for the devotion this morning.

Today is Gilbert's 31st birthday. Time sure flies doesn't it.

Well Al already gave the weather report for this area. I can't say there is fog here 8 miles north of Al in Arcata but it sure is overcast.

Going back to work today. The headache left sometime during the night and my throat is still a little bit scratchy. It looks like I will survive.

God Bless you all

Let's sing!

Victory in Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Eugene. M. Bartlett

I heard an old, old story, How a Saviour came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning, Of His precious blood's atoning,
Then I repented of my sins And won the victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about His healing, Of His cleansing pow'r revealing,
How He made the lame to walk again And caused the blind to see;
And then I cried "Dear Jesus, Come and heal my broken spirit,"
And somehow Jesus came and bro't To me the victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory,
And I heard about the streets of gold Beyond the crystal sea;
About the angels singing, And the old, redemption story,
And some sweet day I'll sing up there The song of victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

Hi, again, I thought I'd stop by and see the new posts! Hi Jenny, Ria, Pat, Marilyn,and to brother Al: I'm sorry your Braves lost, but so happy my Cubbies won! How is brother Iain doing? Seems like alot of our CP'ers have that nasty ole cold. We have gorgeous Indian summer here in Illinois today; My dog and I walked for a long way; he's been kinda neglected while we been with Garys' mom. She is home with 2 grand daughters to fetch and carry for her, but her doc wants her doing for herself now! Pat, I forgot to say thanks for another excellent post; you always know what we need!And, Sonja, Congrats to you; I can't wait to see your photo! God bless all of you,
Love in Him,
Cami

I will just say hello to everyone, as I have not got all the names down in my memory.  If I was skilled like Pat I could just get a banner floating across the screen with all the names.

I really enjoyed the morning devotion, I am always amazed when the Holy Spirit gives knowledge to some one on a scripture that I have read and it did not jump out at me in the same way.

Oh, Pat, thanks so much for one of my favorite hymns, Victory in Jesus, and that music is great!

Hi All

John has just taken Melaura to the Doctor again.  Her eyes are swollen.  She still is running a good fever and feeling really rough.  We all were up last nighe, Kassie was the exception, she is the healthy one at this moment.  On Saturday I ran for the phone and tripped and badly jarred my sholders again.  This has intensified the problem I have been having over the past 6 months.

Amazing love how can it be
That you my King should die for me,
Amazing love I know it's true,
With all my soul I worship you.
Jesus you are my King
Jesus You are my King

This was on the radio.  My I enjoy Christian radio.  If anyone is interested in checking out  one of the very few truly Christian radio stations go to
http://www.cjtk.com/  We do so enjoy having this on all day and listening to "good" music.  Our brothers and sisters in the USA have Christian radio in most cities.

Any update on Papa John?

Bye all

Hi Everyone:

Whenever I hear that song "Victory in Jesus"  I think of the wonderful speaker who had "cerabal palsey" and could hardly talk but God made him an evangelist and speaker.  His name was David Ring.

David Ring would get us all singing "Victory in Jesus"  He had so many problems and yet God turned them all around and made him an evangelist.  He used to say "God don't make any lemons, only lemonade"

I hope you are all having a good day.

I'm on my way to Newmarket.  My daughter is having a fund raising dinner for her christian school.  Paul Henderson will be speaking and there will be a silent auction.   That should be fun.

Will talk to you all when I get back.

God bless    Ruthie

RUTHIE~David Ring still sings Victory In Jesus and says "I've got cerebral palsy, what's your problem?"   :D  He spoke here, in Coos Bay, not too many months ago.

Sonya - Well done sis, more power to your shutter finger. Try celebrating with the 'Clootie Dumpling' recipe I posted this morning, under 'Breads' I think!!

I did not know under what heading to put the dumpling recipe, but I hope you try it out.

I am sure that my brother Chris would tell me exactly where it should go!! Tee Hee!

Hope all went well with the other Chris and his first day in his new job.

Jerry - I was delighted to see you posting over the weekend. Keep up the good work.
