Morning Devotional...

Come unto Me...I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Matthew 4:19

Go ye into all the world, and preach to gospel.
Mark 16:15

Consider these three profound words, spoken by our Saviour: "Come," "Follow," "Go."

Come is a universal invitation, for salvation and eternal rest. Every true believer rejoices in this conversion experience.

After conversion we hear that same gentle voice say, "Follow Me"--into His discipleship training course.

Finally, we hear His challenging appeal, "Go" into a hostile world and preach the gospel.

Be faithful and fearless. Like the Christians in the early Church, go out to turn "the world upside down."
                                                                    --Milton Haack

Tho' your talents may be meager,
offer up the things you can,
And whate'er you do for Jesus
will be useful in His hand.

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, I'll be away this weekend visiting with my children and grandchildren.

We here in Nashville are grieving today. There was a 6-alarm fire in a nursing home, and 6 people lost their lives, including the mother of a man (himself a firefighter who was right there working to stop the blaze). That man and his family have lived on our street for many, many years. How sad.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Jenny

11.20 a.m.

Oh Ruth Ann, what a deep sadness.Just as you are going away.

Truly in the midst of life we are in death.

How much we owe to the firemen and women who put their lives on the line daily.

I pray for the families of those who died........Did the fireman leave youngsters?  His poor wife.

I am feeling sad too re Little Ryan whose funeral was yesterday (see Prayers)..I saw his photographs and he was the dearest little lad.......A BLESSING TO ALL.

I think that is all for now.  I think this is a time to be quiet.  I may come in later.

Jenny.

Kathy

Come.......Follow......Go  Such are the words Jesus has us to hear and commit to our lives as His followers.  All day these are the words that will ring in my heart as I try to do His calling.

Goedemorgen Ria.  I pray your weekend is going to be a holiday for you and your family and that the trip will be a safe one.  Thank you for the language and translation.  What about your tests in the hospital?  Have you had them yet?  I've missed out on some of the NEM posts and am still praying that these tests will soon give you the needed information on osteoporosis.  A lot of info is on the internet.

Ruth Ann, such a tragedy!  I will be praying for the families of those in the nursing home and for the fireman who lost his mother.   A safe weekend to  you, also.

Time for Bible, prayer and then get ready for work.

So glad to see Marilyn back with us

Still praying for Papa John.  May he soon be able to come home.

Pat don't you love those Pampered Chef parties!  I even thought about becoming one of the
representatives one time because of all the neat things they show and the good recipies.  My kitchen has many of them as I try to purchase something each time I go to one.

:) .....until later..
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No man cometh unto the Father but by me.  John 14:6

Good morning to you all/
Mieka.......good to hear from you again....and that was quite funny about the dog and the flea.......you will understand it one of these days.

I pray you all have a great day and keep your eyes and thoughts on the Lord our God this fine morning.
Our thoughts and prayers are still with Papa John this morning and we will give praise to our God for him.
bye for now. Paulette.

Carol

Pat S:  thank you for the devotion.  It is good to know that we can always rest whenever we come to Jesus.

Ruth Ann:  So sorry to hear about the fire in the nursing home.  They are all so vulnerable in those situations.

Best to everyone.  Carol

Pat

Good Morning Everyone...

It's a nice sunny day here today...nice for driving for me as I travel into Toronto to attend the funeral of my friend.  We have been friends since our teens and in later years, she looked after the mailing of the church magazine and inside nearly every copy when I got mine would be a little "sticky" stuck to a page with a little private greeting from her to me.  I'll miss that a lot.  It was fun to leaf through the magazine to find her little private note.

I will be very late coming home so we might just name this topic with tomorrow's date as well as today if I'm too late.

I will pop in again just before I leave.

Ruth Ann, that's just terrible news about the fire.  Very, very sad.

Ria, I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Drive safely and hurry back to us.

How's your son doing, Jenny?  I've been remembering him as he's started with a new doctor.

So glad to see your post, Kathy.  Happy that you can get in here as often as you do.

How's Don's hand, Carol?  I hope it's on the mend now.

Great to see your name pop up, Paulette!  I expect that you're busy with the home schooling now.

Now, I'm off to finish getting ready for my drive to the other side of Toronto.  I really dislike driving around Toronto.

Good morning all!

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WooHOo!

That means the weekend, which at our house is a big, big deal.  Tomorrow we are going to the Warbird Memorial Flying Thingy in Gatlinburg.  Hopefully, I can get some cool pics.  If not, it will just be fun ot watch the airplanes, and to watch Travis (or is almost fanatical about planes and heliocopters) watch the airplanes.

Have a good day.  Hopefully, I'll be back later.  If not, take care and I'll be around sometime this weekend.

Mieka ~ Your joke was very funny.  Most Chinese people cannot pronounce the letter 'R'...it comes out the sound of an 'L'.  So FREE would sound like FLEA, which dogs frequently have.   :( I never know when you are kidding or serious.... ::)

I can't remember who said I must know a lot about PSP....NO, I DON'T.  But I learn by reading instructions and PSP is a super challenge for me.  Also I used to write process sheets for electronic assemblies, so I am used to detailed instructions.  When something is awry or missing, I spot it AND I had been taught that if you critize something, present a solution.  So that is what I did for the tutorials that I was taking.  Now the teacher has me for a Tut Tester!!  But just like everything else, I could never write a tutorial.  I am not creative enough.

Marilyn ~ I am praying that the doctors do not find anything really wrong with you.  I am a believer that when you go to the doctor, they CAN find something to doctor you about.  I go at least once a year to my family physician but not for the 3 month check-ups that he would like.  I tell him, that if I feel I need to see him, I will call him.  I think that these routine quarterly check-ups are scamming the insurance companies and that is why everything is so high...appointments and RX's.

Ruth Ann and Pat ~ I am praying that both of you have safe trips as you travel today.

Today I am going to Jerry's and mop his kitchen floor.  Then he is coming here until Sunday after church.  His daughter's family is to come Sunday.  I need to cut Jerry's hair...glad he gets a buzz haircut.  I need to stop and get a few things before coming back here.  It is cool, 57°F and cloudy.  I hear Ivalou's garden tractor.  But my yard isn't ready to mow yet!!!  Yeah!!!

I received this in a email today.  I checked it out on www.snopes.com and it is true.

Who's Your Daddy?
A seminary professor was vacationing with his wife in Gatlinburg, TN. One morning, they were eating breakfast at little restaurant, hoping to enjoy a quiet, family meal. While they were waiting for their food, they noticed a distinguished looking, white-haired man moving from table to table, visiting with the guests. The professor leaned over and whispered to his wife, "I hope he doesn't come over here." But sure enough, the man did come over to their table. "Where are you folks from?" he asked in a friendly voice.

"Oklahoma," they answered.

"Great to have you here in Tennessee." the stranger said. "What do you do for a living?"

"I teach at a seminary," he replied.

"Oh, so you teach preachers how to preach, do you? Well, I've got a really great story for you." And with that, the gentleman pulled up a chair and sat down at the table with the couple. The professor groaned and thought to himself, "Great... Just what I need another preacher story!"

The man started, "See that mountain over there pointing out the restaurant window. Not far from the base of that mountain, there was a boy born to an unwed mother. He had a hard time growing up, because every place he went, he was always asked the same question, 'Hey boy, Who's your daddy?' "Whether he was at school, in the grocery store or drug store, people would ask the same question, 'Who's your daddy?'

He would hide at recess and lunch time from other students. He would avoid going in to stores because that question hurt him so bad. "When he was about 12 years old, a new preacher came to his church. He would always go in late and slip out early to avoid hearing the question, 'Who's your daddy?'. But one day, the new preacher said the benediction so fast he got caught and had to walk out with the crowd.

"Just about the time he got to the back door, the new preacher, not knowing anything about him, put his hand on his shoulder and asked him, 'Son, who's your daddy?'" The whole church got deathly quiet. He could feel every eye in the church looking at him. Now everyone would finally know the answer to the question, 'Who's your daddy'. This new preacher, though, sensed the situation around him and using discernment that only the Holy Spirit could give, said the following to that scared little boy

"'Wait a minute!' he said. 'I know who you are. I see the family resemblance now. You are a child of God. With that he patted the boy on his shoulder and said, 'Boy, you've got a great inheritance. Go and claim it.'

With that, the boy smiled for the first time in a long time and walked out the door a changed person. He was never the same again.

Whenever anybody asked him, 'Who's your Daddy?' he'd just tell them, 'I'm a Child of God'." The distinguished gentleman got up from the table and said, "Isn't that a great story?"

The professor responded that it really was a great story!

As the man turned to leave, he said, "You know, if that new preacher hadn't told me that I was one of God's children, I probably never would have amounted to anything!" And he walked away.

The seminary professor and his wife were stunned. He called the waitress over and asked her, "Do you know who that man was who just left that was sitting at our table?"

The waitress grinned and said, "Of course. Everybody here knows him. That's Ben Hooper. He's the former governor of Tennessee!"

Someone in your life today needs a reminder that they're one of God's children!

Janet I love your story.  We are all children of the Mighty God!

Karmat I love your quote!  HEHEHEHEHEHEHE

Janet

Pat, your story of the sticky notes reminds me of that old love song "Little Things Mean a Lot"----and that is so true in every relationship.  It's the little, thoughtful things that are remembered.

Etta Sue, that story of being one of God's kids is really good---and I love that giggling little kid!!!  Sounds just like a kid who is being tickled!

We will be having company for the weekend, so I won't be around much, I don't think.  But I will try to pop in and catch up when I have a few minutes.

Mieka, how is my favorite "tiny fish" today?  I love your posts---and I love YOU.

Darrel needs help making a grocery list--see you later!

Oh Etta Sue, I do love you...........Thank-you! That little baby did my heart good. He reminded me of our little William.  He's 9 months and all giggles now!.He's crawling backwards and we have to move everything out of the way!!!  I am going to try to send it to Helen, my daughter.

The true story re the Governor was meaningful too....I hve been feeling that I have to tell those "young men" (see Prayers) that they are God's children.  This is a confirmation...Bless you for that Etta Sue!.

Marilyn, thank-God re the eyes, that will be a relief, also to the pocket, no expensive specs to be purchased.  More towards the new Computer, that too is in His Hands.

Dear Pat, thinking of you at the loss of a dear friend.  I pray for you, but thank God she was a Christian. You will meet again!  Prayers for a safe journey around Toronto...Take Care.

Janet, Judy, Karmat, Ria, Judy B. , Chris and Margit and dear Mieka, ............HELLO!

Have a Blessed weekend all,
See you in His timing,

Well I can't open that fun page.  All I get is the home page of a rock band.   :(

Got a phone call from my pastor today.  His oldest son originally set up our church's website when he was in college.  But now he's working and playing in a band and doesn't have the time.  It hasn't been updated since last April! :o  So the pastor asked me would I take it on.  I told him I'll get together with Tom and see what I can do.  Gee whiz, I'll never get my fall cleaning done at this rate - last fall, that is!  :o ::) ;D

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful afternoon here in Georgia.  I had to drive about an hour this morning to my cardiologist appointment and it is through the foothills of the North Georgia mountains and was very beautiful.  I enjoyed the drive up and back.  My appointment went well and the doctor was pleased with the outcome of the EECP treatments although he doesn't see how they can help.  I told him I was certainly a lot better and I had been able to resume a relatively normal life.  He said he was thinking seriously about acquiring the EECP equipment for his practice and was awaiting the outcome of my treatment and probably a few others.  He said he is going to send a few more for the treatments before making the decision.  He also said it didn't make sense that common aspirin does what it does to protect from heart attacks but he knows it does.  He is increasing my beta blocker by doubling the dosage for three months and then doubling it again at that time.  This medicine apparently takes time to be tolerated at the dosage that does the most good  and said it will cause tiredness until I get used to it.  I may have a problem with my blood pressure getting too low and if so will have to go back to the lower dosage.

Pat, the devotional today is so simple yet so complete.  Hope you won't be exhausted when you get home from your long trip tonight.  Sorry about your friend.

Since my post has gotten so long already as going to forego making other comments today other than to say I hope Cami you are feeling better soon and Marilyn, glad you eye appointment went so well.

Iain

Larry - I'll be praying that your treatment will be successful with not too many nasty side effects.

My first lot of beta blockers nearly sent be droll. The ones I am on now though are OK. The worst side effect apart from tiredness is that I sweat very easily.

Aspirin I suppose we are on for good, but it is heavy on my stomach.

So, enough of my moaning! I am mobile tonight and I am happy and content with that. Things could be so much worse.

Not only am I mobile but I have a Friend that is with me each step of the way. His name is Jesus. I do not know how or why He puts up with me, but He does and the amazing thing is that He loves me as much today as He did yesterday!

Not only that, but when this short journey of mine is over then I spend the rest of eternity with Him in His glory--------------without my sin!!!

Take care folk. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

LOL

I have missed being here.  Thank you for your prayers.  I reported over in Prayers a report on the situation.

I got a card today which said said  'I CAN FACE THE WAVES FOR I TRUST THE ONE WHO MADE THE OCEAN.

I love you all.

Jerry has a clean kitchen floor.  I have a sore body!  I get on my hands and knees to mop.  Well, really a bigger part of me.  Now I know I will be ready for bed tonight.

God Bless All of You!!!!

Hey, Mieka!!!  You say your name means 'little fish' in Chinese!  Just be glad you aren't Hawaiian.  The Hawaiian word for 'little fish' is humuhumunukunukuapuaa!!!!  Now say that three times real fast!!!!

Marilyn

I can finally see, that dilation has finally worn off, 8 hours later. Etta Sue That is one long word for little fish.

Gilbert had to got o the bank and deposit my pay check for me since I couldn't drive. I drove home ok but I wasn't going to chance driving any more today. I was so bored sitting around the house doing almost nothing so I cut the curtains pressed in the hems and sewed them on the machine. Didn't have any problem threading the needle. Still have 4 more to go and have to put up the rods. Need to go buy the fixtures and screws that go on the wall.
