JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

Hello Marilyn! Here for a little while, but I just did a maternity shoot and have to edit 30 photos! The most a client has ever purchased. Can't complain about that. Hope all is well there. Are you getting any bad weather? I keep seeing bad weather passing through from your side of the country.

CHRIST AROSE
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Robert Lowry, 1826-1899
Musician:  Robert Lowry, 1826-1899

Low in the grave He lay,
Jesus, my Savior!
Waiting the coming day,
Jesus, my Lord!

Chorus:
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o'er His foes;
He arose a victor
From the dark domain,
And He lives forever
With His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Vainly they watch His bed,
Jesu, my Savior!
Vainly they seal the dead,
Jesus my Lord!

Chorus:

Death cannot keep his prey,
Jesus, my Savior!
He tore the bars away,
Jesus my Lord!

Chorus:

THANK YOU, Judy, for the encouraging hymn. I love that one especially at Easter time. I hope you are feeling better with all that you're experiencing right now, and I hope you have a blessed Easter. You're in our prayers. Thank you for always keeping this group going! I appreciate it!

From Chris Saunders

"Go up to the feast, I am not going up yet, my time has not yet come, but when His brethren were gone up He went up also but in secret." John 7.
Jesus did not want to go to the feast with His brethren in the flesh but with His disciples, if the Jewish leaders had attacked his family , the brothers would not have known what to say, or how to defend Jesus or  themselves scripturally, If the leaders had asked Jesus's half brothers if they thought that He was the Chosen One, what would they have said.. yes.. and probably been stoned.. no.. and divided the family? No.. our wise God as ever let them go up alone for their own safety, He had His mother to protect too.
It would have been chaos as the leaders were out to kill Him and He wished to save His brethren from all this, His life was ordained by the Father not his family, no one can ever tell Christ what to do,  nor could anyone take His life from Him before the allotted time, and that is the same today, we can but ask and pray, as  God knows best.
At the feast they were all looking for Him and taking sides against Him, it was going to be very difficult now, this was the last thing our Saviour wanted. No man spoke openly in His favour for fear of the Jewish leaders. We might be tested today. Stand firm.

Hi Marilyn! How was your Easter? How about everyone else here - how was everyone's Easter? We were supposed to have a morning service, but it ended up much too cold. The indoor service was nice. I remember when my girls were young, always dressing them up in Easter dresses, but it seems like it's not a thing anymore to dress up special. After church, we went to John's brother's house for a turkey dinner. Had a nice walk with my sister-in-law talking about the changes happening in the world that are happening way too fast!! Hope you are all well!

What I am about to say won't be popular.

We go to a church where dress is casual.  There are people who dress to the 9's. However most are not.

Thing is people who are on a limited income cannot afford the clothes to dress to the 9"s.. My son in law wears clean jeans, and a clean T shirt, as does Heather. There are so many who need the message who cannot "keep up" with the Jones's.  They need to feel welcomed with no judgement on how they are dressed.

I went to an inner city church as a child and teen.  All of the people who were my age came from "well to do" families.  They had all the modern dresses and suits, which my family could not afford. There were very few from the inner city came to church.  I dutifully went to church every Sunday and weekday meetings.  It was expected.  However having said that my thoughts were not on the teachings, they were on how I wished I could have the "things" they had. Yes this was jealousy and envy and covetousness.

Now when I go to church it is not in "Sunday best" it is in comfortable clothing that is ordinary street wear.  I can talk to those folks who cannot afford the "Sunday best" with no fear of jealously or covetousness.  I really appreciate the example set by our leadership.

Something to remember: back in Bible times through to pioneer days people dressed in their weekday work clothes, they often didn't have a second set of clothes, they would wear what they had. Same applies today.

My church is also very casual.and a small congregation. The pastor wears jeans and a flannel shirt many times.. We are a smal group of caring people. our church was a rund down place 3 years ago. the pastor, and a couple of other people have worked hard to get it in shape and there is still work o be done.

we are located out in the sticks along the edge of the bay surrounded by older homes and hard working people.I love it there and there are people there that I know from when I lived here 13 yrs ago. Frecles goes to church witgh me and everyone loves here. I guess you know she is my service dog.She never leaves m side.

Yes my Baptist church is very casual in dress, even our ministers both male and female wear casual clothes, one male does wear jeans and tee-shirt...Our congregation are a mixture in dress code, some dress smartly, men in a smarter trouser and jumper some jackets and the odd male in a suit...the females in trousers-dresses or skirts...

My daughter, Heather, went to Pat's church once.  She was wearing clean pressed slacks and a clean top along with a sweater.  Heather was introduced to the pastor, he welcomed her then said perhaps the next time you come you can dress properly. She never went back.
This is the mentality that I see in so many churches.

We have had varying weather here.  This is northern Ontario.... Rain, snow, sunshine, clouds, warm and icy cold.  All in one week. Tomorrow is rain and 41F Sunday will be +68F with sun.... There seems to be no consistency.  Last year we lost 90% of our garden due to rain... The produce rotted in the ground.  This year we could have the opposite, drought conditions.  It is crazy.

John will be home on Sunday.  He has made the decision that he will stay home till the next week, and get some of the stuff done that have been left "till the next trip home"!

I am hoping we get enough dry weather to get the garden tilled.  This year we are not planting as many beans or carrots.... I have been buying carrots in bulk, 5 to 10 pounds at a time.  We have the multi coloured carrots and a different Zucchini, it is round! Also there is a pole bean that produces 2 foot long pods All very interesting.
Liz, Doug's wife has ordered sugar beats, with the plan to make them into sugar! She has so many wonderful ideas, and had turned Doug into "his style" of gardening.  Did you know you ca turn Zucchini into flour?  I didn't till he sent me the link!
Did you know you can make a syrup from birch sap? Heather is working on that making syrup from birch sap.  She collected enough to make the soap she is known for, for the next year 59 litres!  now she is collecting to boil down to syrup.  It is really different from Maple syrup, it has a nutty somewhat savoury/sweet taste.  It will be used for savoury dishes, especially beef and venison.
Jon, Heather's husband is working as a labourer with a roofing company.  Hard heavy work for a man about to turn 50.  He is feeling it, the weight of the shingles and climbing the ladder to take them to the men on the roof.  Keep him in prayer for strength and endurance. He is a solid Christian, who believes in prayer.

I have much to get done this weekend.  So I will close for now.  Thank you for the comments on dress.  God be with you and bless each of you.
Marilyn have heard from Janet?

Jacqueline

Judy...how insulting of that Pastor...just the fact that she was there should have been enough...

Good to hear from you Judy. If a pastor said that to me I wouldn't go back either.

It sounds like you will be very busy.

It is so hard to watch Keith  go downhill these days. Every mrning I go into his room to see if he is still alive. I feel like some morning he won't be. All I can do is pray a lot for hnm and try to get him to eat, which is very difficult.

"When Jesus lifted Himself up and saw nobody but the woman, He said to her, woman where are your accusers, has no man condemned you?
She said, no man Lord, and Jesus said unto her, neither do I condemn you, go, and sin no more." John 8.
Jesus had shamed the Pharisees once again, angry and frustrated they were at home gnashing their teeth against Him. But here was the woman awaiting Jesus verdict, she would know that she was not going to be stoned but what was to happen to her..  I imagine she would still be shaking with fear as she lay there, Jesus had just proved a scripture that was not even yet written.. Romans ch.3 v 10...There is none righteous, no not one.. including the woman, but what to do with her, I'm sure there was a mixture of relief and fear, and gratitude when she heard his words, He was not condemning her, but she must change her ways. She was forgiven, but it couldn't go on, she had had a narrow escape, if they had not used her to tempt Jesus she would now be under a pile of stones. When we are delivered from a sin we must stay away from that temptation.
Jesus is all compassion and knows all our sins, that is why He came, to offer Himself in our place, to take the punishment that we deserve, if there is a weight on your heart and mind at the moment, then come to Him, get it out before Him, He is not going to stone you,
But will abundantly pardon.
Trust me, I've been there.
