Morning Devotional
Daily Burdens

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11: 28-30

The burden borne by mankind is a heavy and a crushing thing.  The word Jesus used means "a load carried or toil borne to the point of exhaustion."  Rest is simply release from that burden.  It is not something we do; it is what comes to use when we cease to do.  His own meekness, that is the rest.

Let us examine our burden.  It is altogether an interior one.  It attacks the heart and the mind and reaches the body only from within.  First, there is the burden of pride.  The labor of self-love is a heavy one indeed.  Think for yourself whether much of your sorrow has not arisen from someone speaking slightingly of you.  As long as you set yourself up as a little god to which you must be loyal there will be those who delight to offer affront to your idol.  How then can you hope to have inward peace?  The heart's fierce effort to protect itself from every slight, to shield its touchy honor from the bad opinion of friend and enemy, will never let the mind have rest.  Continue this fight through the years and the burden will become intolerable.  Yet the sons of earth are carrying this burden continually, challenging every word spoken against them, cringin under every criticism, smarting under each fancied slight, tossing sleepless if another is preferred before them.

Such a burden as this is not necessary to bear.  Jesus calls us to His rest, and meekness is His method.  The meek man cares not at all who is greater than he, for he has long ago decided that the esteem of the world is not worth the effort.  He develops toward himself a kindly sense of humor and learns to say, "Oh, so you have been overlooked?  They have placed someone else before you?  They ahve whispered that you are pretty small stuff after all?  And now you feel hurt because the world is saying about you the very things you have been saying about yourself?  Only yesterday you were telling God that you were nothing, a mere worm of the dust.  Where is your consistency?  Come on, humble yourself and cease to care what men think."

The meek man is not a human mouse afflicted with a sense of his own inferiority.  Rather, he may be in his moral life as bold as a lion and as strong as Samson; but he has stopped being fooled about himself.  He has accepted God's estimate of his own life.  He knows he is as weak and helpless as God has declared him to be, but paradoxically, he knows at the same time that he is, in the sight of God, more important than angels.  In himself, nothing; in God, everything.  That is his motto.  He knows well that the world will never see him as God sees him and he has stopped caring.  He rests perfectly content to allow God to place His own values.  He will be patient to wait for the day when everything will get its own price tag and real worth will come into its own.  Then the righteousness shall shine forth in the kingdom of their Father.  He is willing to wait for that day.

In the meantime, he will have attained a place of soul rest.  As he walks on in meekness he will be happy to let God defend him.  The old struggle to defend himself is over.  He has found the peace which meekness brings."

The scene at the hydro pond tonight was so quiet and peaceful I had to share it with you.  May you feel and embrace God's peace this week.

He Hideth My Soul  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/he-hideth-my-soul.mid)
(Click to hear music)

I will put you in a cleft in the rock
and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.
Exodus 33:22

Words: Fanny Crosby
Music: William J. Kirkpatrick

This hymn is unique in that it was a poem written to fit the tune. Kirkpatrick brought the music to Fanny Crosby, asking her to write a poem to fit his music.

She, the blind musician who wrote hundreds of hymns, did!

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

Refrain
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.

Refrain

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God
For such a Redeemer as mine!

Refrain

When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love
I?ll shout with the millions on high.

Refrain

Ditto to what Jeanne said!  Judy, what is a hydro pond?  I know that hydro refers to water....??  Please explain.  Sure is pretty, anyway!

I am bushed this evening.  I got up at 6 this morning, all excited about starting my day with Bible reading and prayer, and hadn't even crossed the floor when the phone rang.  It was Debra, asking me to come in to work.  :(  I did, and it was a true Murphy's Law day.  Everything that could go wrong did go wrong, starting with the fact that my car wouldn't start.  My thinking tonight is that I will be saying "no" from now on.  It just isn't worth it, and the money isn't much, anyway.

On a much brighter note, it is sprinkling here, after a day of temps well over 100*.

I sure do miss Etta Sue's posts.....and Pat's......and I see Larry didn't make it in today, either.

Love you folks!

We have a dam, I have posted pictures of it in the past.  Behind the dam the buildup of water we call the hydro pond.  It is a wonderful place to swim and it is a long way from the dam itself  The water is calm and generally warmer than the river.

Today has been a difficult day for getting anything done.  I am tired and so is Kim.  Tomorrow is another day.

Have a great evening everyone!

Somehow, I missed several posts from yesterday.  So see Larry did post, and Marilyn, too.I think I pretty well have the stinky moth ball smedll aired out now, thank goodness!

Since I worked today, I didn't get to the hospital to see about Maxine.  I did go visit her yesterday, though, and prayed her to sleep -- 8)--and stayed and visited with her after another friend of hers came, for about an hour and a half.  I will check on her again tomorrow.

Larry, thanks for the tips.  I hate it when I make those mistakes.  I have something on here now I want to get rid of, but don't know how to do it.  :-\ :-[

Okay, now I'm outta here!

Hi everyone.  We had a nice day weather-wise yesterday with only a very brief shower while our men's luncheon group was eating at Steak and Shake.  Today is Pat's day with the car so I am planning on staying home and continuing to finish up the work on her computer.  As of this morning 31% of her many files have been restored to her desktop but it will take at least a couple more days running day and night.  Patience is required.  Pat is going to participate in a little sewing group started at our church to mke little stuffed dolls and I don't know what else to send to use for Samaritans Purse Christmas boxes, our Family Promise organization that our church participates in where homeless families stay in our church a few weeks a year.  Then she plans to go to have a pedicure.  She had never wanted to do this before she went the other day and now I expect it will be a common occurrence.  I am happy for her to go.  Pat just fixed me a delicious omelet and a piece of rye toast with apple butter and I am full.

Marilyn, you can reset the password by resetting the router.  There should be a tiny little hole that you can take pin and push it in and that will reset it.  However, I suggest you look for a video or check the Netgear website for further help.  To get to the control page for the router you type into the address line of your browser 192.168.1.1 although that address may be different for different routers. I would encourage you to use a little notebook or a computer program like LastPass to store your passwords.  I have used LastPass for quite a few years and it has one master password and that gives you access to any information you have saved in it.  I do pay $12 a year so I can access it on my mobile devices but I think there is a free version.

Judy, thanks for the devotional thoughts for this week.  It is a wonderful thing that we can get release from our burdens when we give them to Jesus to carry for us.  Unfortunately, most of us pick it back up when we don't have to do so.   Beautiful picture from the hydropond.

Janet, sorry you experienced one of those "everything that can go wrong does" type days.  It sounds like the work at the home is becoming very stressful and tiring for you and if you don't have to do it why do it.

Larry--my thoughts exactly!  I don't have to do it, so why do it?  I am wanting to do a big purge on this place, and have made a start this morning!  Too much 'stuff' just keeps piling up, and it's got to go!

I'm looking forward to this afternoon.  My sweet Abby is meeting me for lunch at 12:30, then she is going to the school auditorium to practice walking in her long dress and high heels, just as insurance, getting ready for Friday night.  A friend of mine whose daughter won the Miss Southwest Kansas pageant a few years ago, will be there to give Abby tips.  Friday night is the Sorghum Queen contest she is entered in, sponsored by State Farm Insurance.  She's quite excited about it, and I am praying she will do well, but that the Lord's will for her will be done.  If this isn't something she should pursue, then so be it.  Anyway, I do look forward to spending some time with her.

I will probably come back to check for more messages later this afternoon.

I wish we had a place like you work in Marilyn.  There is nothing here and the cost is way high.

I just finished making Rhubarb jam.  That would have been one of my Father in Law's favourites.  I have to take KIm and go strawberry picking soon, Maybe a drive out today to se if they are still picking otherwise it means a trip to Sturgeon Falls to get them.  That place has ever bearing so we will pick several times this summer, raspberries too and that is one of my favourites!!!

John is in Quebec today, heading towards the west.  Hopefully he gets a trip there to Wisconsin or Minisota.  That would be good miles!!!

Well I'm off have a great day I will be back!

Hi, folks,

It's been a very good day here in Nashville. The temps are moderate and thus far we haven't had any thunderstorms.

Friends met me today for lunch, so that was fun. And I've had several calls from the kids and other friends and relatives.

Y'all have a wonderful rest of the day.

 :)  Hi to you all.  I don't know what happened to my post that I did the other day as I did do one after the 21st..  Well today was a good day for me as I was able to get out in the garden and do some work that had been needed to be done for a while.  Noreen was able to come out and do a little bit to.  She is still having a lot of pain and we see the surgeon on the 1st. of Aug. so we are hoping that he will be happy with her knee and tell us that she can try to start doing more with it. :thumbsup:

We did get a lot of rain and thunder and lightning but we did have a good day and kids have just come back from a vacation so lots of stories from the granddaughter.  Well time to go hit the sack.  thanks again for your continued prayer for both of us.  God's richest blessings to all at C.P.  Love in Christ.  Gordon and Noreen. :) :pine: :rocker: :cp:

Hi everyone.  It is early and I have yet to go to coffee but will have a full morning so decided to just make a quick post today.  After coffee I will take my care up to have the oil changed before I start the daily grind to Athens to resume the EECP treatments.  I am still waiting to hear from them to restart.  That is all I have planned for today.  Before I went ot bed last night I caught up on the postings from yesterday and see that Gord beat me here today because he was a late night person.

OK This has turned into a complicated day.  John's cousin has died, and we are scrambling to try and get John off so we can go.  George had pancreatic cancer, that spread to other organs,  July 9th he fell in the bath tub nothing broke however he was hospitalized.  He was 84.

Please pray for the family, and safe travels for John and I.

We have cool weather here, it is a nice break from the heat of last week.

Have a great day everyone.

Judy, my sympathy and prayers for John and the family.  I'm praying for safe travel and arrangements.

This is a perfect laundry day.  So I did laundry this morning - even got a blanket washed and out on the line.  The sun is shining, the breeze is brisk, the temperature is mid 70's, and the clothes are drying beautifully.  :thumbsup:

Hello friends:

It seems that I do not visit very often but generally I do not have a lot
to share, either I do not want the public to know or it is of not much news anyway.
For some folk when they were destroyed as a child they got over it or just
choose to be silent and that is me. I must say most of the damage was done from birth to mid teens,

On a happy note our son became a step grandpa 2 wks. ago and thus we are great grandparents to a little boy, we will be going to meet the little guy for the first this evening.

Larry:  You always give good computer hints and I should write them down lots of things such as passwords I do keep in a book and also "how to's" as well all I need is to start adding your hints.

Judy: Sorry to hear about John's cousin.

Marilyn & Larry: how do you make laundry soap?

It is a much cooler day compared to what we have had.

Jeanne.
3 Bars Fels Naptha Soap grated
1 Box Borax
1 Box Super Washing soda
1 container Oxiclean

Dump it all in a bucket and mix it up real good, store in air tight containers and use ¼ cup per load. All things can be purchased in the laundry Soap aisle. Make 18 lbs of soap.

Brother Al
Yes they are all done in one day. That is all we do at the spay and Neuter Hospital where I am a Volunteer, Recovery Technician. Good to see you hear.

Larry

I downloaded the Last Pass and when I opened the vault there was my password for the Netgear Router. Hallelujah and Praise the Lord. Thank you , Thank you.

Judy

Our prices are the best around, $100. USD to  Spay or Neuter, we also do Flea Control, vaccinations toe nail trimming as needed. No charge for the nail trimming, but there is a $15 fee for ech injection, Droncit for worms is $20. for cats.

Hi everyone.  I decided to post again this evening as have a full morning planned for tomorrow plus have more work to do on Pat's desktop, although the end is in sight.  So far everything as gone well.

Judy, sorry to hear of the passing of John's cousin.  It sounds like he was a close family member and hope the details can be worked out for you and John. Pancreatic cancer is such a terrible thing (as are all cancers).

Jeanne, we had a lovely morning here and the next few days look like they will be nice with lower temps and one day with no rain in the forecast at all, even a slight chance.

Ruth, glad to see your posting.  If nothing else just stop by and say hi to let us know you are OK.  Congratulations of the new great grandchild  We had a step grandson in our lives for many years even when his mother and my son split.  Unfortunately we haven't seen him or his family for a couple of years and understand they have moved out of state.      Glad you find the computer tips helpful as I always enjoy helping others.  Pat uses this recipe for the laundry soap:
3 tablespoons of Boxax; 3 tablespoons of Washing Soda, 2 tablespoons of Dawn liquid soap (could use something besides Dawn but needs to be liquid).  Boil 1/2 gallon of water to dissolve the powders.  Pat uses 1 cup of the liquid in a large load.  We have used it for quite a while and it does a good job and is certainly much, much expensive that store purchased liquid laundry soap.

Maryilyn, I see your laundry soap is made with similar ingredients but without the Oxiclean.  You must make quite a lot of soap at one time.  Glad you found your password for the Netgear.  I rely a lot on the information I have stored in LastPass and it is an easy place to find information.

Today has been really busy, with it beginning in early morning with a maintenance man knocking at my door, and finished with two doctor's appointments.

So, to quote my MawMaw, "my feathers are dragging" tonight.

Hello, everyone.  Guess I could say goodnight everyone. :)

Marilyn, someone posted a way to do dry laundry soap but just using the three ingredients and leaving off the grated  Fels Naptha.  I did make a liquid soap once and it had all of the ingredients you mentioned except the Oxy Clean.  I have the recipe...but would much rather have the dry.  It really does clean well.  I went to Safeway the other night to get Washing Soda and couldn't find it.  Couldn't even find a spot for it.  I'll try Fred Meyer tomorrow.

Al, I was just thinking of you today, wondering how you were and what you were up to........and here you are! :)  I haven't been here in ages and have just now feeling like posting again.  Are you doing ok as a Texan? (I think that's where you moved to....you can correct me.)

Judy, your picture is gorgeous!

I have an appointment for another interview this afternoon, then Beth and John are coming out to eat supper with us.  There is always something to keep me busy; guess that keeps me out of trouble!

Time to go to the gym and work out with Kristi!

I'D RATHER HAVE JESUS (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/IdRthr.mid)
(Click to hear music)

I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or land;
I'd rather be led by His nail-pierced hand:

refrain:
Than to be the king of a vast domain or be held in sin's dread sway!
I'd rather have Jesus than anything this world affords today.

I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause;
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I'd rather have Jesus than world-wide fame;
I'd rather be true to His holy name:

He's fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He's sweeter than honey from out the comb;
He's all that my hungering spirit needs -
I'd rather have Jesus and let Him lead:

At the age of 23 George Beverly Shea (1909 - ) had a hard decision to make. He could accept a job offer in a secular singing position in New York City with a great salary and wide respect;  or he could continue singing in
churches and for Christian radio programs.

While sitting at the family piano, he started to prepare a special hymn for the Sunday service.  On the piano he found a poem by Mr. Rhea F. Miller.  He immediately began to compose the music for the poem and used the song that same morning in his father's church service.

He also used those words to direct his life and has shared his song, "I'd Rather Have Jesus"  with audiences around the world.

~I'd Rather Have Jesus (1)

     Forty years ago Bev Shea was attending the Bible School in Ottawa (Ontario) where I was teaching. He loved to sing. After more training in New York City he was given an audition at one of the radio stations and was offered a contract.

     He asked that he might sing Gospel songs. He was told that he might use one occasionally, but he would have to use the songs on the Hit Parade.

     What would he do? His mother was praying.

     On Saturday night she placed a poem on the piano. In the morning he composed a tune for it. One verse was:  "I'd rather have Jesus than silver and gold: I'd rather have Jesus than worldwide fame; I'd rather be true to His holy Name!"

     Bev turned down the contract.

     A short time later he was offered a position with a Chicago radio station where he might use the Gospel songs he loved. While there he met Billy Graham.

     The rest of the story is well-known.

Say folks can you encourage Pat to post the pictures of the CPers that were at John's birthday party?  I sure would like to see them!

Have a great day, I have John's meals to prepare so had better get at it.

Hi everyone.  I decided to come back to CP tonight and catch up on the postings.  It looks like all is well with those who have been here today.  I had a frustrating morning working with Pat's laptop as when I looked at the screen first thing it said I had run out of storage space on the hard drive.  When I installed Windows 7 it backed up all of the XP files and that was using about half of the available space.  I deleted them and then got into a mess with the download and had to start again.  I spent a long time trying to remember one of the passwords that I had used when I set up Windows 7.  Finally after much frustration I did (and documented both of the passwords that were used) and so could begin to actually start the restore function again but it started all over so will take several days again.  Pat and I just got back from going out to dinner at a local place and had a good meal.  She had gone with her good friend to another quilt shop and out to lunch today and wasn't in any mood to cook.

Marilyn:  thanks for the laundry soap recipe. To be honest I am a little wary of oxi clean it did get my colors too white.

Pat;  When you have time add those CP pictures, it was a fun time together.

I had a doctors appointment then a trip to my aunts to purchase and replace the battery in her phone.
Followed with dinner at Boston Pizza.

Hi, friends,

This has been a rest-up, catch-up day for me. I learned about a bit of anemia which explains my need to rest often. Soooo, it's time to start with those iron tablets again. The doctor guides me on when to, and when not to take them.

Y'all have a wonderful day/evening with our Lord.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Good morning from the Oregon coast.  We're overcast this morning, nothing unusual, but the sun will break through later and it'll be nice.

I have no plans for the day, but as my son and grandson are staying here now, there's always something to do.  Son has been busy cleaning up around here ...windows, lawn, watering flowers and small garden, etc.   I used to do all that, but since he has been here, I now wonder what I'd do without him. :)  God's timing is perfect.

I find I am limited at the walking I can do, still some back pain from my fall last year, so my getting out is just in short trips.  But I am blessed I can get out for short jaunts to the grocery store.  It makes me feel industrious. lol   I also still tend my flowers (son built a raised flower box for me (it's filled with the most beautiful Wave petunias).

Judy, I love the hymn you posted.  I'd rather have Jesus.  Yes, oh yes.  :)

Hello friends:    :coffee: I have had my coffee for the day how about you.

This is a beautiful sunny day.  I do not have a lot planned for the day just
general tidy up which we all need to do.

Nita:  Like you I find that my walking is also limited due to a knee issue & lower back issue which will not go away and for me finding a larger shoe has become an issue most shoe stores are saying we can order the larger size in but you must pay in advance fit or not it is yours. So wrong, something is wrong in how they choose to do business.   It is also wonderful that your son is so helpful.

I was thinking of showing you a picture of the step grandson but have not figured out how. Perhaps in God's wisdom it should not happen.

Good Morning how nice to see Nita and Ruth posting again. You can make the soap without the Oxiclean I just wanted to try it with the Oxiclean to see how is does on my whites. Instead of the Fels Naptha you can use the Castille soap which might be more spendy. At Coos head it is $5 a bar. Yikes!!

I've been to the gym this morning and increased my workout. I've turned the crunch machine all the to the highest number and am doing  OK with that. It was getting to easy with the lower number and not doing me much good. Walking!! I do a lot of walking at least 5 miles per day.  The Celebrex keeps the knee pain at bay so I can walk up and down these hills.

Hi everyone.  Went to coffee this morning, made a quick trip to Kroger for a couple of items and gas for the car and then went through the drive through at the bank to get some cash out.  I think that is going to be it for today.  This the third day I have felt exhausted and yesterday was a lost day.  I did mange to putter around my desk all morning but ate an early lunch and then spent all but a couple of hours laying down.  I hope today won't be a repeat of yesterday.  I have more problems with Pat's desktop and in all likelihood a virus has attached it.  I am going to run maintenance programs on it today.  We have gone two days now with no rain but the map doesn't look favorable not to get some showers today.

Ruth, sounds like you had a busy day. We have a specialty shoe store here where Pat has purchased her shoes who keep adjusting them and they recently replaced a pair that just weren't fitting right which she had had for awhile without additional cost.

Marilyn, you have done very well on your exercise and walking programs and it has sure paid off for you.

Nita, I have had that thought about God's timing on things and think that is a wonderful reason not to worry about what may or may not happen tomorrow.  Glad your son is there to help you with maintenance of your home.  Wonderful idea of the raised flower bed.

Yesterday was the funeral of John's cousin.  It was really (in my books) different.  There was no eulogy instead all glory for his life was given to God.  No one left that service without knowing the way of salvation.  I spoke to his youngest son about it and His response was "It was honest!"  Yes so very honest.  Our Lord is who needs to be glorified.

We got home about 7 after a long day most of which was spent driving.  We took healthy snack foods with us, and had that was our supper on the way home.

Here is the reunion I had with my pup, Zeek, I was looking at him and he was licking all over my face, mu lips are drawn in so he didn't get to them!  A good face wash was necessary when I got home.  Zeek is a 3 month old Rotti.  HE is such a doll!

Glad you're home safe and sound, Judy.  Sounds like the service was truly a celebration rather than a sorrowful memorial.

It looks like there's mutual affection between you and Zeke.   :D

I have a funny animal story for  all y'all. yesterday i kept hearing a cat meowing and meowing for a long time, I finally decided to go look for the cat adn see what was going on, I though he might be shut up in one of the room, I went in every room, looking behind doors, in the closets under the beds you name it In looked there. I then went to the family room where he like to sit and look out the window. Yes that is exactly where I found harry., not looking out the window but

It's a good thing the aquarium is empty, hasn't had fish in it for years. I call this photo Catfish Harry. the 2nd time he has found himself  in the aquarium and couldn't climb out.

Judy, what a cute pup and he obviously loved being in your arms.

Marilyn, I guess cats can dream too as he was probably waiting for the fish to swim by.  Funny story and a very cute cat.

What started out as a very frustrating morning turned out well as I found three virus files on Pat's desktop and when they were removed the computer then again worked.  I then called Carbonite and got a great tech who was able to take over the computer and make some setting changes and found that the files had all been restored.  He even fixed the external hard drive and started the cloning activity on it.  XP has a different file structure than Win 7 files and he reformatted the external hard disk and now the cloning of the new setup and files is underway.  If the hard disk or whole computer fails, I can simply use the clone and restore what we have on the new hard drive or computer.  This was what I had wanted when I decided to pay the fee for the Carbonite and now believe it was worth the money.  Next time I won't hesitate to call them for help.  I have felt much better today and only needed to rest for a couple of hours this afternoon.

I was here yesterday and it looks like my entry got lost.
As we all know that can also be a good thing.

I got my freezer jam finished yesterday and before I shut down I will be doing the labels.  Hand writing uses less ink but I like the look of the typing.

Larry & Janet: how are Beth and Stacey?

Larry you are so talented and not afraid to make changes and corrections on yours and Pats computers.

Ruth, it's so good to have you posting more often.  I am always interested in what you have to say.

Larry, it is really nice that you know so much about how to manage yours and Pat's computers.

I had a special treat, although very short, yesterday.  My grandson Mark was home just briefly, to serve as best man in his high school friend's wedding.  Wehn I went through Hugoton on my way to the class in Guymon, I stopped to see him.  He was out at the airport, cleaning and servicing his and his dad's airplane.  I asked him what he was going to do and he said "fly!"  I asked where? and he pointed up and said "Up there!"  He was going to go pick up his dad in Liberal and take him flying.  The plane hadn't been moved since March, when he was home last.  Anyway, I got to visit with him a little bit and get several of those wonderful Mark hugs!  He is still going to school near St. Louis.

Class went well yesterday, and I am learning a lot about drawing.  I do wish I had taken drawing classes many years ago; but better late than never!

Our Abby didn't win the sorghum Queen Contest, but she did well.  She looked so beautiful, and was very poised.  She made it through the first two cuts, just not into the final five.  Pretty good to get into the ten before that, out of a field of 35 girls!  We are proud of her.

I am about to leave to go to the hospital to visit my sweet friend who fell and broke her pelvis in four places.  She is still in the hospital, will be for another three weeks or so, then probably will go into the care home.  The doctor has been surprised she has rallied as well as she has.

I am going to Hugoton again tonight to hear a guest speaker at the church our kids attend.

Hi everyone.  We just had another brief shower, enough to water the grass.  We had gone for about three days without rain here in our area.  We did go to Atlanta and had lunch with Stacey.  I think this is the last time that Pat is going to try to make a dinner to take down as it is just becoming too much for her.  We will pick up subs, or chicken or some of the delicious chicken salad that Kroger's has.  Stacey had a fright during the night when she woke up with severe chest pain.  Fortunately the nitro she took stopped the pain. Fortunately, she didn't have to call 911 again.  We did take her the transport chair to have in her apartment in case her wheelchair decides to stop working.

Ruth, I think Stacey is doing as well as she can considering her many health issues.

Janet, glad you were able to see your grandson and it sounds like Abby did well in the contest and expect it was a good experience for her, even the not winning teaches a valuable lesson.  I am glad I didn't give up on the old desktop as it may run for quite awhile.  I put it back into her early this week.  I have to move some printers around and when I look at the tangles of wires involved I really dread doing it but it needs to be done.

We just took our middle son out for his birthday dinner and he wanted pizza so I told him that because of the deal they had tonight, he can have two meals out to celebrate.  He was gone all last week - hiking in the mountains and then more on level ground.

JohnB:  Good that your roof is secure now - it does get harder to do those jobs, doesn't it?  Safe travel.

Larry:  Computers can be so irritating but so necessary.

Bonnie:  You mentioned rain and we had a cool and wet much needed day here.

Janet:  I watched the Ken Burn's show on The Dust Bowl.  Shocking pictures.

Ruth Ann:  It is so kind of you to take your older friends around - they must really appreciate the drives.  Take care of that anemia as it can cause such extra fatigue.

All is not well here with so many issues but we are not in control and do know that everything will work out in the end.  Looking forward to Tuesday's bible study.  It keeps me grounded.

Hi from Sunny Vancouver Island.  We have had one whole month without rain....now everyone wants some!  Must say the warmth does wonders for these old bones.  Even our 17 yr. old Squeek (cat) is moving a little better.  She comes down to my suite to sunbath every morning.....

I had to take Misty for her yearly shots, then have a tooth extracted....Also got the Pet Mobile to come and give her the annual Lion cut so she is more comfy in the hot weather.  There went another holiday....almost $1000.00 for everything.  No wonder the Vet was leaving for a nice long vacation, including a trip to Africa.

Have started on a Gluten free diet...not for weight loss, rather to help reduce pain in the old bod.  Have only been on it a few days so hope I get the same good results a friend has.  Do seem to have more energy tho and that is a plus.  Does anyone have information on the subject?  I am going to invest in a couple of cookbooks and try to make things more interesting.

Would like to put a picture of me in the profile but no longer can figure out how it is done.  Anyone care to help.

Has anyone listened to the new Amy Grant CD?  I have tried it out on iTunes and find it quite nice.  She has written some very nice songs and still sounds fine.  First CD in ten years and she has certainly been busy on different TV stations.

Enough for now.  So nice seeing Al posting...I come to read but like Jane, have my own corner...

God Bless,

Liz
