JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Hi, friends,

I've been taking someone to work at a hospital for the 7 pm to 7 am shift. (Actually, I think the times may be 6:30p to 6:30a.) At any rate, these early hours are making my life a bit difficult right now.

Also the person gets grumpy from the pain in the broken bone. So, ouch! I just ask for grace, and thus far our Lord has provided emotional stability and compassion. May His provision continue!

Today I've been awake since 5:30 am, and gotten lots accomplished. I betcha I'll sleep well tonight. ;)

May our Lord grant each of the strengths we need for the day at hand, and may He, in His wonderful mercy and love, grant answers to our prayers, provided they are in His holy will do be granted.

Much love to all,
Ruth An

Rest when you can Ruth Ann and take care to eat right.

Hi everyone.  It is sunny this morning but suppose to be overcast most of the day with a possibility of some afternoon rain.  We had a very small turnout at our Friday Men's coffee at the senior center but still had an enjoyable time.  Yesterday afternoon we had a fun time with the new couple from our church that we played cards with a few days ago.  The women really beat up on my partner and I as we played hearts.  Then they grilled some chicken and had a couple of side dishes and we enjoyed a delicious dinner with them.  We had to get the food Pat and the other lady had prepared for the high school group celebration at out church and we got it there right at 6 pm.  Today Pat has an commitment and I am riding with a friend to the ROMEO's luncheon at O'Charley's and that will be enough for today.  Stacey is still in the hospital but was able to keep a little container of lemon Italian Ice down late yesterday afternoon.  Pat just spoke with her and she had tried to eat a little soup last evening and it made her very nauseous and she isn't feeling any better this morning.

Carol, I think we are all seeing sticker shock every time we pay for something.  We try to stay away from clothes that require dry cleaning.  Nice of Don to tidy up the neighborhood.

Ruth Ann, sure hope your transportation service doesn't have to last too long, but from what you wrote it sounds like it might be for several weeks until the leg heals.  Being retired should mean not having to get up early every morning unless you want to.

Hi Judy.  I agree that info on photos is really scary if children are involved.

JudyB

Morning all.  I am half way through the assignment i have to hand in today.  The balance won't be to hard to complete.

Just a while ago our whole house shook, Nothing on the news about an earthquake yet that I can see, however if it was that would make the third while we have lived here.  The whole house shook and there is no wind to cause that!!!

It is a beautiful day today warm, and sunny, no hit of any clouds.  I am off and will check back in a little later.

The difference between earthquakes up here in the North (Laurentian Shield) and what is seen in California and the ring of fire, is the fact that the plates move horizontally rather than vertically.  They do some damage, however not the damage that is seen around the ring of fire.

Our father instilled in me a love of Geology.  The fact that we are feeling earthquakes up here has always been a surprise to me, as I was always taught that earthquakes were not possible on "the Shield".  This goes to prove that God knows more than our teachers!

Larry, the Vette is a 1974 model so it is a classic collector.  It has both a soft top and hard top but it must have some leaking problems, too.

I got call from KD asking about my Nuclear Stress Testing.  They were on their way to Michigan in his new 2013 Chevrolet Silverdo....red.  We like red!  But now I have a job of watering her flowers on the hangars by the garage and around their deck!  They are coming back Sunday.

Kitty found me a red couch.  I have always wanted a red couch since moving into this house.  I have a double Lazy Boy couch now but would like to have a couch that I can take a nap on...that division in the Lazy Boy hurts my hips!  But this couch is at a consignment shop in Lapel.  I may go see it today to either take it or not!  Then will have to find someone to get it and deliver it for me and take this Lazy Boy away!!

And I have a project for church to do.  July 4th, a lady in church is signing for 'God Bless the USA' by Lee Greenwood.  The music director would like some still images to show on the overhead that goes along with the words to the music.  So I need to search for some images online.

That's about it for today!

Judy, we felt the earthquake here too. We have two of our children living in the Ottawa Valley, and they felt it more than us as they are closer. Our son was teaching, and they evacuated the school. It was good to see the explanation of the difference of earthquakes here in the north.

My sister went for chemo yesterday, but was unable to have her treatment as her platelets were too low. Hopefully they will be higher for her next Thursday when they try again. God is in control.

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast and not really chilly but damp and cool morning.  We had rain for a couple of hours during the night and perhaps will get more today.  Just back from coffee and will leave in a little bit to attend a meeting and that will be it for the day.  Pat talked with Stacey a little bit ago and she still isn't doing very well.  The doctor is taking her off of the medicine she has been taking for the Gastroparesis as it apparently has a lot of side effects.  I did have a good time at the ROMEO's lunch yesterday except O'Charley's was extremely busy and very noisy and it was hard to even talk to the person next to you and the service was very slow.  However, the food was good.

Judy, that sure sounds like an earthquake.  Hope it did no damage to your home.  We lived through several earthquakes when we lived in Alaska in the late 60s and they are frightening.

Etta Sue, I would think flowers would be ok for such a short time so surprised they would need you to water them.  Hope the couch was what you are looking for.

Betty, I bet the school children were a bit upset with the earthquake but the school was wise to evacuate the school building.  Sorry to read that your sister wasn't able to have her chemo.

Hi, friends,

I'm just peeking in the back door again. :)

Plans for today have changed, so I think it's good to have a bit of time to check the computer, etc.

Y'all have a wonderful day.

Computers!!  Can't live with them and can't live without them!  I downloaded a Free YouTube Downloader and all kinds of tagalongs came with it.  Then it wants me to update the Flash Player and again tagalongs come with it.  And you don't have the options to say yes or no to these tagalongs.  So I hope I can uninstall them from the Control Panel.  AND I can't find where the Free YouTube Downloader went!  Grrrrr!

I have done nothing but piddle with the computer yesterday afternoon and since.  It's challenging but I am going to win!

Betty

We've been taking nails out of boards this afternoon. We're hoping to use some of the boards to rebuild and have a small shed at the lake. I guess I'll build up some arm muscles doing this. It's beautiful today and we are enjoying the time down at the beach even if we are working. Tonight we're hoping to have a bonfire and get rid of some of the broken boards.

Etta Sue: I agree, computers can  be frustrating. This one has been acting up a bit on me too.

Larry: Yes, it was disappointing for my sister when she couldn't have her chemo because she was "psyched up" for it. Another week might be good for her though. God knows what is best. I've been praying for your family - you've been dealing with a lot in the last while too.

Have a great day everyone!

Betty

I have really been scarce here this week.  I'm sorry about that.  The exercise I have had to do has been brutal.  I finally sent my results to Heather to see where I have gone wrong...  Three times through it and still it's wrong.. Grrrr.

John has come in from mowing the lawns, There is still some left.  Hopefully on Monday he will finish and till the garden.  We need to get it all planted, we are early this year however the weather seems to now be co-operating.

I hope you all have a wonderful evening, and hope Jeanne gets her puter back up and running soon!

Hello to everyone:    I once new a Dilly & Dally both identical twins there full names were Dylis & Dora   to the day that they went home to the Lord they dressed identical one of them did get married but yes they still dressed the same two of everything.   The most caring women you would ever meet.

Marilyn:  congratulations

Carol

Ruth:  I am happy that you remembered your very caring friends  = they sound like they were very special.

It has been a long day with half of it spent in Colorado Springs.  We came home to windy weather but no rain out of the clouds here.  It is snowing hard at Copper Mountain although they won't open the ski resorts says the report.

Etta Sue

JudyB~I forget.  What is it that you are studying?

I am all ready for church.  I am running the projector system today.  We do it for three weeks and then rest 9 weeks.  Today is my third Sunday.  I love doing it but love sitting with family and friends more!

I finally did a Systems Restore yesterday.  I still can't get Corel PSP X5 to recognize my wireless scanner to import photos.  When I click Twain Source...the only option is not my scanner.  I have a photo of my husband and I way back in 1978.  As some photos do, it is mainly red now.  I wanted to colorize it.  I did but used my old laptop and Corel PSP X2.  And the Help on X5 was useless.  Wouldn't even search for 'importing', 'Twain' or 'scanner'.  I did find a website where you could comment but they don't reply to it!  Duh!

I realized that I have Animal Planet on my DirecTV now.  Loved watching shows about cats last evening.

It looks to be sunny today but I think the humidity is high.  The horizon is hazy.  But not a cloud in the sky and not a bit of wind!!  It's 62° and rising!

Hi everyone.  What a night of storms we had starting at about 4:15 this morning.  There was about a two hour or more period of seemingly constant lightning and thunder with some of the strikes very close.  We got tons of rain and flash flood warnings and we may have more rain today.  We will not go to church this morning since we want to go down to Atlanta to see if we can help Stacey if she gets released from the hospital today.  However, it may not be today and if not hopefully tomorrow.  She seemed to be feeling better last evening.  That will probably be it for today.  Pat hasn't said whether she wants to go out to lunch or fix something here.

Etta Sue, that is aggravating when you get programs downloaded you don't want.  I would think there would have been a desktop icon for that YouTube program. I assume you installed the software for your printer on your computer even though it is wireless.  Animal Planet does have some nice programs.  When my dad was in the nursing home he had it on most of the time although would be sleeping a lot or at least have his eyes closed but I watched it when I was with him.

Betty, I remember as a young man helping my dad remove nails from boards and some of them can be quite difficult to remove.

Judy, is this your accounting course you are struggling with?  If so, do they still use practice sets to walk you through the accounting process.  That was always my favorite part of accounting classes.

Ruth, interesting story about the identical twins.

Carol, glad you didn't have to deal with slick, wet roads on your trip.

Yes it is accounting course, and I was working on Closing the Books.  Got all the closing done correctly, however I couldn't get it to balance correctly.  Heather pointed out the major mistakes, I did the corrections, and from there changed the accounts.  Worked through the balances again and found I had an original total wrong.  Fixed that and worked through the accounts again.......The balance was then out $110.....I gave up, submitted my work with an explanation.  Only to realize that I forgot little things like the double underline and other things, all small costly mark wise however those marks add up.  Yes I am disappointed at my mistakes.  The part that I am able to laugh about is the Software Simply Accounting does this automatically......Thinking I will buy this software for next year!!!  I was talking to a friend about my problem and she went into gales of laughter as she uses Simply Accounting and hasn't had to close books since she was in school.

Today it is rainey, damp, good day to relax and rejuvenate.  Next lesson begins tomorrow.

I went out last night to play,  Thought there would be some nice sunset pictures.  In the hour I decided to go out and actually leaving the sky clouded over, and there were no spectacular pictures to be taken.  This is the best I could get.

[attach=1]

I was about 4 feet (or less) away from a deer, however it was so dark that I couldn't get a focus on it even with the flash....It just stood there watching me try to take its picture.

It was good to get away from my work.

Well .... I've been to California and back again.  It seems that road just gets longer every time I drive it!  I came home pretty tired, but have been working on getting rested for the daze ahead.  I will be making the trip once again the end of June.  We are anticipating a mini family reunion then.  My two sisters are coming from back east and we have reserved a restored Victorian mansion in downtown Sacramento for a couple nights (maybe longer).  We plan a tour of the wine country, and an authentic luau, among other things. Hopefully, we will be able to gather some of the local (Sacramento area) family members to join in the fun and festivities as well.

I just wanted to check in and let y'all know I'm still alive and kicking .... and will be back as I can get here.

Y'all take care now, y'hear?
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Well, it's that time again...  time to walk through the musty old CP basement and up the moss-covered steps at the end of the corridor to get to our new "Thoughts for the Week"!  Enjoy the walk or you can CLICK HERE to get there faster---or cleaner!!   ;D
