JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Have a good Friday everyone!

We took a little hike in a park yesterday and it was not a great place but oh, what a view of the city, and airport and mountain range.  Very rough to walk though and we won't be going back - it was more of a bike trail and so eroded.  Then, we stopped at the church for coffee and we had books to read so we just enjoyed that soothing time.  Don is reading the car manual.

Hi everyone.  It is a cloudy and misty day here in Georgia with a 60% chance of rain.  At least it was 21ยบ warmer than yesterday morning.  It got quite nice yesterday.  Pa't's lunch with her friend was cancelled as the friend wasn't feeling well.  So Pat and I went to a buffet for lunch and ran a couple of errands.  Last evening our son called on his way back to North Augusta from a training session over around Birmingham and said he was headed our way.  He got here about 7:30 and stayed for about 90 minutes.  After he left here he still had about a three hour drive home.  Pat will be gone awhile today but I plan on staying home and just working here in my office.

Carol, if the men meet in a noisy restaurant the noise is compounded in addition to the men talking at the table.  I have great hearing and still experience not being able to hear someone at the other end of the table when we have 8 or 10 guys.  We have also included singles in our after church group and our morning coffee groups.

Janet, time spent with friends is never wasted.  It is easy to get isolated and that isn't good.  My computer seems to be OK.  I don't know where that silly desktop background came from but was able to change it.

Janet

You're sure right about that, Larry!  I just wish we had more friends who had time to spend with us.  God will bring them, because I have asked.

Carol, glad neither of you turned an ankle or anything on the rough walk, glad you enjoyed the view!

I have been busy today working on stuff related to getting the children's book published.  I pray it will be a blessing to many, many kids.

God has the tough end of the deal.  What if instead of planting the seed you had to make the tree?  That would keep you up late at night, trying to figure that one out!

Hi, friends,

Yes, son #1 is the one with the headaches who lived in the same complex but a different building about a half block away.  Yes, he's doing SO much better.  I believe it's a result of all the prayers that have gone up in his behalf.

He and his wife and new family (3 children & 2 little grandchildren) seem to be doing very well.  And, he took his kitty, who is also adjusting to life as an immigrant to the Philippines. :)

I hoped to hear from my doctor today, but am doing relatively well with the big black brace.  Sure seems to be heavier this time around than in 1995 when I broke some bones in the right foot. Now, just couldn't be age, could it???!!

You were talking, Larry, about a certain % chance for rain, well, our percentage was at 30%, and of course, I went out to the bank right in the middle of all that 30% chance of rain!  At that time, my opinion was that MY day had 100% chance of rain. :)

Y'all have a great rest of the day.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Marilyn

Ruth Ann did Leslie move to the Philippines? I must have missed that, It is good to hear that he is doing so much better.

My day began with joy--Bible reading and prayer; progressed to blessing my spouse with a lovely breakfast; to frustration--no internet connection!; to happy--got it back after fifteen minutes or so with a tech at Pioneer help desk.  Then a call from my oldest sister, and now I think it just might be time to go shower, wash my hair and get dressed.  I want to bless my friends with some deviled eggs, something she can and should eat, as she needs lots of extra protein now.  This afternoon at 4 I will go on the Sr. bus to another concert, at Liberal this time.  Don't I live an exciting life?  ;)

Ruth Ann, thanks for the explanation about your son, I was really confused.  Hope he has many happy and healthy years with his wife and family!

Better get with it--daylight's burning!

Age gives good advice when it is no longer able to give a bad example.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I was gone all morning so now just eating my lunch and reading and writing on the message boards.  It was not so chilly this morning but has been foggy that has lasted all morning, which is unusal to last that long.  I am looking forward to the Georgia/Auburn football game later this afternoon.  I like the 3:30 start as it doesn't interfere with my afternoon rest.  Pat has country ribs cooking in the crock pot for dinner and I see we are also having baked beans.  I hope she will also make a potato salad as those items go well together.

Janet, you now have experience with publishing a book so you want is needed and to expect.  Are you self-publishing this one?  I am so glad I have a loving God and that I am not it.  Hope you enjoy the play.

Ruth Ann, sure good new on your son's health after so many years.  I know that things are sure getting a lot heavier than they used to be.  We even got some new dinnerware to get something lighter than what we had.  We also had a 100% chance of rain last night.  When the weather predictors came up with the percentage system they really couldn't be wrong.

Hi Marilyn.

Jeanne Lee

At 11:30 p.m. the cable went out, taking the internet with it.  That lasted just 1/2 hour.  The same minute the cable came back, the power went out.  That lasted almost exactly one hour.  Followed, of course,by...  clocks, clocks, clocks.

The people across the road, just opposite my computer room window, are putting up their Christmas decorations!!!

Jeanne, I noticed yesterday that the city crews had laid the big decorations that mount to the light poles at the foot of the poles.  Can Christmas be far behind?   :yikes:

I thought it was probably smart to put up the lights while the weather was still mild.  But they've turned them all on tonight!   :yikes:

Carol

Bring on the Christmas lights.  Our end of town has workers putting up the lights and I will not call them Holiday lights.  I wonder when the Atheists will demand no lights.  Gonna have to march one of these days.

Larry:  I think I heard your Georgia lost today's game.  Don was watching Baylor/Texas Tech.  Yes, he goes to the breakfasts and does get to hear some of the chat right by him.

Marilyn:  Nice, new picture!

Larry  I'll bring the potato salad.  It does sound like Pat has been feeling better lately - wonderful.

Janet:  Yes, indeed - you do live a lively life.  I make my deviled eggs with dry mustard, and a little mayo.  Mom's way.  Similar to egg salad which was the sandwich of choice on every road trip our family ever made.

Judy:  What a nice looking man, your friend I mean.  Prayers for his complete recovery.  It is terribly difficult for the family too.

It is hard to believe it is 50 years from JFK's assassination.  I had invited a lady from work over for lunch when we heard the first report.  It was a year after the Cuban situation too - Don being in the Air Force on alert for that time.  Time does fly.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone on a dreary looking morning in Georgia.  It was warm all night and is now 61 degrees.  We are suppose to have some rain throughout the day.  We will go to church and then so out to eat.  Yesterday was a peaceful day.  I watched the Georgia/Auburn football game which was unbelievable.  Auburn led throughout until the fourth quarter when Georgia scored enough to put them ahead one point with limited time left.  Auburn was on the last drive and what appeared to be their last play and appeared to be not caught until a Georgia player flipped it up in the air to prevent the catch but it came down in the hands of an Auburn player who easily got the touchdown resulting in their win. The announcers, one of whom had been doing announcing since the 1970s, said they had never seen such a game.  It was really exciting at the end of the game.

Jeanne, I guess people want to get the outside Christmas decorations up before it gets too cold or snowy.  I haven't seen any here yet but will probably next week.  Displaying those light already seem a little early.

Carol, I heard this morning that one of the schools here in the USA had banned children from bringing toys to give to other children since it might promote Christianity.  What insanity.  We are not able to go and shop for filling a Christmas Child's Shoebox but I looked at the website this morning and found that you can shop online so think we will do that.  Tell Don he really missed some excitement by not tuning in the Auburn/Georgia game.  Pat surprised me last night at dinner not with a potato sald but a cauliflower/broccoli salad, which is one of my favorites.  We had a delicious meal and enough left over for another one.

Carol

We were ready to be hunkered down this morning for the big winds - where are they?  Up north some place.  We can see really heavy snow in the peaks though so that is good for water next year.

Larry:  Exciting game for you but sorry your beloved team didn't win this one..  How sad is this country going?  It is out of control when we can't give gifts to those who really need a lift in life.  I see such a stronger separation between us and that isn't good at all.  What does Pat put in her broccoli/cauliflower salad?  Sounds healthy too.

I started a little pork roast on 200* this morning and set the bread machine for a loaf of rustic white bread all for tonight.  The sun is shining in my sewing area so this it the time of day I like to see what I am doing down there.   :)

Have a wonderful and restful Sunday all.

Janet

Carol, where do you buy dry mustard?  Does it keep really well for a long time?  Do you have a good egg salad recipe? (for sandwiches)  I am looking for other ways to prepare eggs for Paula than deviled eggs.  Her body is starving for protein, causing terrible leg cramps almost every night at about 3 AM.

We shopped for our "shoebox gift" when we went to Liberal, and bought more than I could cram into the box.  We were to return them to church this morning, which we did.  Beth wanted to know all the things I put in the box, so I told her as many as I could remember, anyway.

I am used to them putting up the Christmas lights on Thanksgiving weekend, so was surprised they did it this much earlier.  And things are just crazy---I read about a boy being suspended from school for BURPING in PE class.  Good grief.  What next?  We need to pray consistently for our country, for sure!

Carol, I always enjoy the Christmas lights, was just a bit surprised to see them this early.  Of course, Christmas market is in June now, for the stores to buy.  My daughter always goes to Christmas market--used to be in July, now in June.

Our pastor is on vacation, so youth pastor spoke this morning.  He did a good job, even though he was nervous.  This young man's dad died when Jacob was two months old, so he has had special problems in his life, but is a special man of God.  He will get married next weekend, in St. Louis; but told me they will have a reception here the first of December.

Our small group is meeting at 5 this evening, rather than 6, so the guys can be home to watch the Chiefs play the Broncos!  Our KC Chiefs are having an awesome season!  Even I will probably watch tonight!  ;)

The concert I attended last night was great!  Dale Gonyea is so talented, and can compose a song at the drop of a hat!  Very good pianist, and comedian, just totally enjoyable.  He couldn't believe the wind here yesterday!  It really was terrible, and kept blowing until 11 last night.  I got home at 1:00 AM.

Being miserable is a habit; being happy is a habit, and the choice is yours.
