Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

I was so nice and cool when I got up at 6, but is really heating up now!  I went to the gym and had a good workout, felt good about it, as I was so tired all day yesterday I had my doubts about going.  What a wonderful difference a good night's sleep can make!  Thank, you, Lord!!

Lon and crew have been here, the outside of the addition is finished and looks SO nice!   ;)  I will take another picture (have been taking them as it progressed) and then....hope to be able to show you!  ;)  Lon has to go get "stuff" and will be back on Friday.  He is working on cabinets for one of our banks, trying to juggle two or three jobs at the same time, and I understand that is not easy.  So I am being patient.......

I was certainly NOT impressed by the president's speech last night.

Darrel has gone to the chiropractor.  Tomorrow is his pre-op appointment with primary physician.

Great news!  My sister Shirley and her daughter JoAnne are coming for a short visit.  They will be here on Saturday.  I am getting a bed ready (it hadn't been used for a long time so needed to wash all the bedding) and doing a bit of housecleaning in anticipation of their visit.  I can barely wait!  Love those gals!

And, one last thing....I have all the questions ready to email to each of you for the stories.  But I do not have all of your email addresses.  So if you and I haven't exchanged emails, you need to send me a note with your email address, please.  Send it to janet@pld.com.  Thanks.

I will go ahead and send a few to those whose addresses I have.  Please feel free to add any other information, memories or stories you want.  The more you tell us, the more interesting and better your story will be!   :)   I am excited to get started on this project.  Oh!  If any question seems too specific for MY area, feel free to talk about the area where you are, or where you grew up, etc.  Thanks a bunch!

Hi everyone.  I am sitting here eating my lunch as have been gone all morning.  First I went to coffee, then to the church for Bible study, then to Kaiser for some blood work and my flu shot and finally made a short visit with my friend, Rod, at the hospital.  I was shocked when I went to the room where I had previously visited him and someone else was in the room.  On inquiry I found they had moved him down a floor, which is a step-down level of monitoring.  He thinks he will get to go home tomorrow but is still a very weak man and will have to have home physical therapy.  He is still waiting the neurology doctor to see him regarding the Parkinson's. I got Pat's computer set up yesterday except for some final things and getting her flies moved over.  I tried to do a download from Carbonite and it could only handle 5,000 files in an individual download and it took hours as made a big zip file..  Unfortunately, when I looked this morning the download hadn't completed, which I think was due to Pat closing the Chrome browser when she began to use the computer last evening.  Since this process is going to take many, many hours to complete and her old computer is still operating, I am going to bring it back in to my office and access her files and move them with a memory stick or DVD.  It will take awhile but should be much faster and there are probably many files that don't need to be put on the new computer.  I am very disappointed in the carbonite and plan to see if I can't cancel it for the remaining months and certainly won't renew it in the future. I feel I have wasted my money on that product, but live and learn.

I need to go rest for a couple of hours so am going ahead an post for the day and will read all the previous messages later.

Are you all still having a problem posting a message?

Do you have to wait and wait and do you then get a long error message?

Hi everyone.  It is another sunny and warm day in Georgia.  We have to leave in a few minutes to go to Atlanta as Pat has a doctor's appointment.  We thought we were going to have lunch with Stacey but that has been cancelled as she now has the flu.  So we will take the few things we have for her and leave them outsider her door.  Neither Pat nor I need to get the flu.  We will then come home for lunch.  I am in the process of coping the files from Pat's old computer into her new computer.  I brought the old computer back in and hooked my desktop monitor and keyboard up to it and attached a mouse and I was in business.  This is going to take some time so brought my laptop into my office so I could read the message boards and post.  We did go out to our favorite Mexican place to eat last night and had another good meal.

Yes Pat that is exactly what I see and I do find my message has posted.

JudyB

Jeanne Lee

Yes, I'm still getting that message when I post.

Yes from here as to seeing the same message.

Flooding all around today - with warnings.  I am watching a coyote creeping by a neighbors yard.  They always survive.  today, someone named Jesus (pronounced heysu) is coming to clean our carpet. He always sounds happy on the phone - how marvelous that this man cleans our carpets and is happy.  \

Don is at the men's breakfast.  I am going to quit a  book club because this month's selection is a worthless trash novel.  Not worth anyone's time to read.

Yesterday was just so sweet for me.  A good friend with lots of problems of her own and I sat and had a coffee from the church seating area overlooking the mountain range - spectacular view.  She has the gift of putting everything into perspective and listening and offered to pray with me - both of us had our loads lifted.  How perfect that we moved to find such good people in our neighborhood.  Now that we are retired and no children in the house it is so wonderful to have and take the time for these special moments.

Gord Brown

:)Good afternoon to all.  Praise his beautiful name.

Larry:  Well you and Pat have such a time with your computers but it sounds that you have them fixed.  Your poor daughter she has the cold and you cannot come in contact with her.I do hope that she will get stronger. :)

I just talked to Etta Sue on the phone and she seems well and also her sister is doing o.k.

Judy b.  Did John finally get the truck fixed?  I do hope so.  I remember when the coaches first came out with computers in them there was so many problems.  Hope you are doing well God bless SIS.

Pat the last post that I did I did have the same problem but it did go through. :coffee:

Well The physio that is treating Noreen is not happy with the way her leg is responding to the treatments so pleas continue to pray.  Thank you for all that do. :)

Well must go for now.  God Bless.   Gordon and Noreen :cp:  :rocker:

Yes John's truck seems to be fixed.  However I am not holding my breath on that one!

Zeke was wining so it was back out for another walk.  Yup that was the solution.

A warm sunny afternoon turned into an overcast windy evening.

Have a great evening everyone.

Janet

We got a beautiful rain!  Praise God!!

Late night, not enough sleep, I feel like a zombie today and I have so much to do..... :-\

I was supposed to keep the two youngest g-g-daughters this afternoon, but the baby is sick.  I don't really feel up to it, so guess it is just as well.

Darrel and I spent all morning at the doctor's office.... :-[....oops!  I already told you that, didn't I?  Sorry.

Back to the chores!

They have called in the National Guard for the foothills area - many sad stories from this flood.  Now they are saying it is numbers of "biblical" proportions.

Janet:  It is so frustrating whenever you hit a patch of sleeplessness.  Sorry - I cannot tell you what will work.

Neighbors want us to go with them for pizza tonight and it just started raining heavy here but we shall see what it looks like around 5. Nothing should be flooding in our area we are watching though.   A young man on t.v. shows a big fish he caught in the street that is flooded.  Amazing.

Gord:  Glad that you had a chat with Etta Sue and I am glad that she is doing well.

The temperature has dropped to 56 with the wind it feels like 50.  Pat this is coming your way I do believe.
border.
I have to get supper ready, (preparing for one is not easy) change a dog bed and get Zeke in, feed dogs and cars, then relax.

I am expecting John to call once he is close or over the border.  I have something from FB for you all to read.  It will let you know how happy I will be when John retires.

THE LAST 22 YEARS OF OUR MARRIED LIFE HAS BEEN SPENT MOSTLY APART..LEAVING US ONLY TOGETHER ON WEEKENDS AND DURING VACATION WEEKS..NOW, INSTEAD OF SEEING A SUITCASE SITTING BESIDE THE DOOR EVERY SUNDAY NIGHT...WAITING EVERY MONDAY NIGHT TO HEAR THAT KENNY HAS ARRIVED SAFELY TO YET ANOTHER DESTINATION...WAITING FOR THE NIGHTLY PHONE CALLS TO CHECK IN...LONG WEEKS FOR THE BOTH OF US WHEN WEEKENDS HE WOULD HAVE TO WORK OVER...

HE IS FINALLY COMING HOME. IN ALL THESE YEARS WE HAVE BOTH HAD TO LEARN HOW TO ADAPT TO MANY THINGS ON OUR OWN...BECOME MORE INDEPENDENT OF EACH OTHER...HAD TO ADJUST TO ONE STAYING HOME AND RAISING KIM WHILE THE OTHER FLEW AWAY OR DROVE THE HIGHWAYS TO MAKE A LIVING FOR ALL OF US. A GOOD LIFE IT HAS BEEN IF YOU CAN GET PAST THE SEPERATION PART..

THE TRICK IS...YOU HAVE TO LEARN THAT YOUR HEARTS HAVE TO WORK HARDER TO STAY TOGETHER EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE PHYSICALLY APART AND ONCE DONE...YOU KNOW, THAT IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE YOU ARE AT..TOGETHER YOU WILL STAY.

KENNY HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE TO GIVE 100% TO WHAT EVER HE CHOSE TO DO..AND THOUGH HE WAS AWAY ALOT...WHEN HE WAS HOME HE MADE SURE THAT WHOEVER NEEDED ANYTHING...GOT IT.

FOUR SUITCASES HE HAS GONE THRU DURING THESE YEARS...EACH ONE WINDING UP BEING BATTERED AND TORN FROM ALL THE TRAVEL...EACH ONE BEING LOST AT ONE TIME OR THE OTHER ONLY TO ADD TO THE FRUSTRATION OF TRAVELING.

I LOOK AT THE SUITCASE AND THINK...IN THE BEGINNING IT WAS SHINY AND NEW...STRONG AND ABLE TO HANDLE THE JOB IT WAS GIVEN...THEN, AFTER TIME, IT BECOMES WORN AND TORN AND JUST SITS IN THE CORNER WAITING TO BE REPACKED AND SENT OUT TO DO IT'S JOB.

MAKES ME THINK OF KENNY...HE STARTED THIS ADVENTURE SO LONG AGO...A DECISION THAT I LET HIM MAKE ON HIS OWN...ONLY SUPPORTED HIM WITH IT ALL THESE YEARS...AT THE TIME IT WAS A GOOD CHOICE...ONE THAT MADE US STRONGER IN MANY WAYS...WEAKER IN SOME...BUT MORE TOGETHER THAN IF WE HAD SPENT ALL THESE YEARS LIVING AS NORMAL FOLKS DO.

YOUNG, AMBITIOUS, OPEN TO LEARNING EVERYTHING HE COULD, DEPENDABLE, MAKING A LOT OF MONEY FOR THE COMPANY HE WAS WITH AND A COMFORTABLE LIFE FOR ALL OF US...IN THIS TIME HE HAS BECOME WORN AND TIRED...LIKE THE OLE SUITCASES...HE HAS DONE HIS JOB AND DID IT WELL AND IS A VERY SMART AND CAPABLE MAN IN HIS FIELD OF CHOICE AND IS DEMANDED BY A LOT OF PEOPLE ALL OVER THIS COUNTRY...HE IS RESPECTED FOR HIS KNOWLEDGE AND HIS FAIRNESS AND HIS HONESTY AND EVEN ON WEEKENDS HIS PHONE RINGS CONSTANTLY AND HE IS FOUND TO BE TROUBLE SHOOTING A PROBLEM OVER THE PHONE FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS RUN INTO PROBLEMS...

THIS HE WILL DO WITH EASE AND MANY TIMES PEOPLE WILL REQUEST ONLY HIM TO COME INTO THEIR PLANTS AND WILL HOLD OFF WAITING FOR HIM UNTIL HE CAN ARRIVE...THIS IS NOT BRAGGING, THIS IS FACT, HE IS VERY SMART AND ALWAYS PUTS THE CUSTOMER FIRST..THAT IS WHY HIS PHONE IS NOW RINGING OFF THE HOOK FOR HE WILL SOON UNPACK HIS SUITCASE FOR THE LAST TIME...

COME HOME...AND WE WILL PICK UP OUR LIVES AND LIVE THEM TOGETHER ...MAKING A LOT OF CHANGES...LEARNING NOT TO BE SO INDEPENDENT AND TO RELY ON EACH OTHER MORE AS THE DAYS GO BY...A NEW PHASE IS BEGINNING AND AN OLD ONE WE HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN WILL BE PUT ON THE SHELF, LIKE THE OLE SUITCASE AND PUT AWAY IN THE PAST.

IT DID IT'S JOB AND DID IT WELL, NOW IS THE TIME FOR US. TRAVEL WILL MAKE YOU OLD BEFORE YOUR TIME...KENNY'S FEET ARE SLOWER TO PICK THEMSELVES UP NOW..HE IS TIRED...HE IS NEEDING HOME...HIS HANDS ARE CALLOUSED AND WORN FROM THE MANY YEARS OF WORK...HIS MIND IS TIRED AND NEEDING REST...

AND GOD SAW THIS...HE PUT IN HIS PATH 3 JOB OFFERS , COMING OUT OF NOWHERE...HE LEAD KENNY TO THE PLACE HE IS NOW TO BE IN HIS LIFE...AND THE DOOR OPENED FOR HIM...IT IS A WONDERFUL THING TO KNOW THAT YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE THE BEST YOU CAN...YOU HOPE THE CHOICES YOU MAKE ARE THE RIGHT ONES...YOU TIRE BUT STILL WALK FORWARD AND YOU KNOW THAT GOD IS WORKING THINGS OUT FOR YOU EVERY SINGLE DAY..

AND IF WE GIVE MORE THAN WE ASK THEN ALL THINGS WORK OUT AS THEY ARE MEANT TO BE. KENNY WILL PUT THE SUITCASE AWAY..HE WILL START THIS PHASE OF HIS LIFE LEAVING FOR A NORMAL JOB, AT A NORMAL HOUR, GIVE HIS 100% , AND RETURN HOME TO BE HERE AT NIGHT...SOMETHING HE HAS NOT KNOWN FOR SUCH A LONG TIME.

HIS VOICE RINGS WITH EXCITEMENT WHEN I TALK TO HIM...THE LINES ON HIS FOREHEAD SEEM LESS PROMINENT.... HIS SHOULDERS DO NOT SEEM TO DROOP AS LOW...EVEN HIS STEPS SEEM HIGHER AND STRONGER...GOD KNEW THAT THIS WAS THE TIME AND WE ARE SO THANKFUL THAT ALL THINGS COME IN HIS OWN TIME NOT OURS...

FOR HE IS LEADING US EVERY STEP OF THE WAY AND HE KNOWS WHAT IS BEST FOR US AND WHEN. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT ALL THESE YEARS HAVE FLOWN BY SO QUICKLY...

NOW AT 60 YERS OLD HE WILL RETURN HOME TO WHAT I HOPE WILL BE MORE RELAXING YEARS FOR HIM...ONES HE CAN FINALLY ENJOY BEING HOME AND BEING WITH HIS FAMILY. WHATEVER IS TO BE IN THESE COMING YEARS WILL BE...THEY WILL BE WHAT GOD HAS PLANNED FOR US...

AND LIKE WE HAVE DONE ALL THE YEARS BEFORE...WE WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW HIM AND ALL WILL BE JUST FINE. SO ....THE OLD SUITCASE WILL SOON BE PUT ON THE SHELF...MANY STORIES I AM SURE IT COULD TELL...PACKED AWAY INSIDE WILL BE OUR PAST LIVES...AND WHEN KENNY WALKS IN THE DOOR WITHOUT IT FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME...WE WILL START OUR NEW ONE..TOGETHER...

SOMETHING WE HAVE NOT KNOWN FOR SOME TIME NOW. GOD IS GREAT...GOD IS IN CONTROL...GOD LEADS US DOWN THE PATHWAY HE HAS CHOSEN FOR US...WE JUST HAVE TO HAVE THE SENSE TO FOLLOW HIM. SO...LIKE SO MANY YEARS AGO...WE WILL START OVER...WE WILL BEGIN ANEW...AND WE WILL GO FORWARD TOGETHER IN WHAT YEARS ARE TO COME...IT HAS BEEN QUITE A RIDE...ONE WE RODE TOGETHER AND SOMETIMES APART...BUT ALWAYS REMAINED TIED TOGETHER IN THOUGHT, IN HEART AND IN SPIRT.

ONE SUITCASE IS BEING PUT AWAY..."MY SUITCASE" IS COMING HOME...INSTEAD OF WORKING FOR A LIVING NOW...WE WILL WORK TOWARDS EACH OTHER...SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME IN COMING...WE ARE COMING FULL CIRCLE IT SEEMS...STARTED OUT TOGETHER...YEARS WE SACRAFICED APART....NOW TO COME TOGETHER ONCE AGAIN...

IN THIS TIME I HAVE BEEN MOST PROUD OF KENNY AND WHAT HE CHOSE TO DO AND HOW HE CHOSE TO DO IT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT THE LIFE THAT SOME WOULD HAVE CHOSEN...IT WAS OUR LIFE...AND NOW, WITH GOD STILL IN THE LEAD...WE ARE TOGETHER ONCE AGAIN...STRONG WE WERE THEN...STRONGER WE ARE NOW AND STRONGER WE WILL BECOME. I CAN NOT SAY THAT IT WILL BE EASY...FOR IT WILL NOT BE...

A LOT OF ADJUSTING ON BOTH OUR PARTS...BUT WE HAVE ALWAYS WALKED TOGETHER TO WHATEVER LAID AHEAD AND WE WILL WALK ON EVEN NOW.

SO...COME ON HOME KENNY, PUT THAT SUITCASE ON THE SHELF AND WE WILL BEGIN AGAIN...THIS TIME WE WILL GO TOGETHER ...EACH OF US HOLDING TO GOD'S HAND AND BELIEVING IN HIM AND IN US. TIME FOR YOU IS NOW...GOD IS HOLDING ONE SIDE OF THE DOOR OPEN AND I AM HOLDING THE OTHER SIDE...YOU HAVE DONE WELL...NOW WALK ON THRU TO ANOTHER CHAPTER IN YOUR LIFE...THIS TIME WE WILL WALK IT TOGETHER. THANK YOU LORD FOR YOUR BLESSINGS ON US.

Pat called and asked me to break this up to make reading easier.  It is from FaceBook, another wife expressing what I feel, the tears flow at her words.  I am anxiously waiting for John to retire.  I am not sure when that will happen however he is 65 and i pray it is soon.  Like her John has had other offers for when he retires, we will wait and see how God leads!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone on another sunny day here in Georgia.  I went to coffee at the Senior Center this morning and plan on a quiet day at home as don't have anywhere I need to go.  Pat was told by her hip doctor yesterday that she is still in the healing process and the x-ray showed nothing wrong with her hip.  This relieved her mind even though the pain is still there.  We couldn't see Stacey yesterday as she is down with the flu.  We did go to her apartment and I just opened the door (I have a key) and set a bag inside with the few things we had to take to her this time.  We will be going down again next Thursday and hopefully we will be able to see Stacey then.  Apparently there are many in her building who have or have had the flu.  My friend Rod was able to come home from the hospital late yestereday.  I will call him this morning but not too early as hope he has been able to sleep in.  He is to have physical therapy at home and I hope it starts soon as he isn't able to walk now.

Carol, so glad to see your posting and know you haven't suffered in the floods out there.  It looks like the rain will continue into the weekend.  Perhaps the carpet cleaner is just happy to have a job.  It sounds like you have met a really nice friend at your church.  Is Jenny OK from the flooding.  I know you live fairly close so hope she is safe as you seem to be.  Did you see the news film of the rescue of the man whose car was upside down and they were not expecting to find him alive but he was.  It was really gripping to watch.

Gord, as always good to see your posting.  Stacey has the flu rather than a cold.  Glad you heard from Etta Sue.  I had emailed her a couple of weeks ago and it sounded like she was doing fine.  Sorry that Noreen's leg isn't progressing as they would like.

Judy, these animals can communicate pretty effectively.  They get us trained.  :)  Judy, that was a long story but can certainly understand how you would relate to it.

Janet, hope you were able to sleep last night and will feel better today.  You all don't need to be exposed to a cold with Darrel's upcoming surgery and the demands you have on your shoulders.

Janet

Thanks, Larry and Carol.  I did sleep last night, after getting up and taking an otc sleep aid.  I do not like to do that, as I do not want to become dependent on  any kind of meds to help me sleep.  I was very groggy when I got up, but worked through it and did go to the gym.  My arms were so sore from Wed's workout, so I only did treadmill and lots of stretches to relieve the soreness.

Our carpenter (Lon) has the flu.  His dad is worse than Lon--has the diarrhea and vomiting, plus the awful headache.  I told him to just stay home and get over it, we really don't need that, especially with Darrel's surgery coming up on Tuesday!  And if the kids and grands are still sick, we will have to skip Curtis' party on Saturday.  He will be thirty, so  Toni is going all-out for that one.

I did see the dramatic rescue from the overturned car in the water!  Wow!  Those guys are heroes!

I got all the laundry caught up yesterday, so today will remake the beds, dust and do the floors....ah, the joys of housework!   ;)

It is still really overcast here, and so nice outside!  Wonderful weather, and I am thankful we are not having the storms other areas are getting, nor the awful fires.

I resolved this morning not to complain about anything for one whole day.  Do you realize that is hard?  I have become aware lately of how much I do complain or criticize, and am not at all pleased about it!  God will help me to do better, and to live with an attitude of gratitude!  Glory!

Time to get with it!

Good Morning from an overcast Oregon coast.  I am taking happy to Coquillle this morning for his monthly check up. He is starting to have some  issues with his hind legs, sort of liming and he does walk pretty slow. He's 15.5 now so I don't expect him to get better very soon if at all. I do take good care of my animals, so i thing he will see 16 next may. Bebe is again too at 12.5 yrs now. She has a bad heart and I have to watch her very carefully if she decided that she wants to take a walk.

I saw all the flooding in Colo, i don't know how close it is to Aurora when my grandsons and their families live.

Janet you have my email address to send the questions to if you so choose.

I am back to home after spending the day in the Bay.  Forgot a few things, so that means a trip tomorrow.  $80 to fill the Explorer......at $1.379 a liter it is expensive.

I need to go and get the car unloaded.

Carol

Yes, still problems earlier with the message but I am going to post this anyway.

Marilyn  Aurora area had 5 inches of rain at one time and there were problems in the streets.  Of course, you probably know it is far from the hills so there isn't any major flood danger or mud/rock slides but surely there have been basements flooded from the more than normal rainfall.  Do you have any questions I could possibly try to find?

Larry:  Certain that Jenny is alright as she is above the street we drive on - can't say for sure but if there was a problem it would have been a basement leak or most likely nothing at all.  Have not seen anything from her mentioning a problem.

There have been and likely more to come some amazing rescues from the flash floods.  Communication is down so it is really difficult to find some missing people.  We give thanks for being safe here as the heavy rains could have gone anywhere - the most rain in 500 years.... is that a message?

Marilyn

Pat I get the error message.

Hi, friends, I have also had that error today when posting.

I was very surprised to realize there had been 4 days pass while I was doing lots of nothing!

Now, it's past 1 am and I'm still wide awake. I went out for a while today. Visited my disabled son, went to get a soft drink, read the newspaper while still in the car, and then caught up on all the DVR'd programs. :)

Y'all have a wonderful day, and I truly hope those Colorado rains and California fires stop.

Love to all,
