JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Jeanne--MMMMM, sure wish I was there to visit and sip and eat with you.....and either coffee or tea will be good, I do drink both!

And, by way of explanation, the running I do is on the treadmill, not outdoors.  But I do prefer to walk outdoors in the fresh air and sunshine.  My sister, three years my elder, still walks 4 or 5 miles every day!

Later!

Our friend is tapping his trees this week, so Maple Syrup is coming.

RuthV Have you heard the weather report?  Cold alert for tonight.  One good thing about it is the run-off has slowed. Our creek was quite high.

John is home. Not many miles for the paycheck this week.  He has had too many days with low miles.  This wife is grumbling!

I know the verse in all things give thanks......Sometimes that is hard.

Lovely sunset.  I am so glad that we were at the edge of the Pacific to watch sunset.  This is a lovely reminder in the picture above - sunset means that we can rest and restore.

Pat:  I will tell Don and he loves to hear that one of his pens is being used.  Now he has started making a combination with a stylus rubber end to use on the iPod or iPad - nifty to have around.  How is Paul?

Apparently, the 90 degree F. weather is setting some records here as they usually have that number in the middle of April.  It feels hot when you are right in the sun but not bad in the shade.  Oh, well - we head north before Easter.

Maple syrup?  I thought trees were tapped earlier than this time of the year.  JudyB:  I will send up a prayer for John's working hours.

Larry: Is Stacey's new living quarters helping her?  Yes, just driving in the city can be as exhausting as taking a trip.  We seem to need naps almost daily - especially when we are in house.  ;)

Pat

Thanks Carol.  PLEASE let Don know that I simply love the pen!  The Maple Trees are tapped here in Canada when we have below freezing nights and above freezing days in order for the sap to run.

Sorry, Janet.  I didn't see your post till too late.  :(

Carol Further south from us they already have sap running.  Our friend is north of us and sap is just starting. He works on Maple Syrup up to 18 -20 hours a day.  However this lasts 3 to 5 weeks and is done.  If the temperature is too low during the day it lasts longer.

John has a road test tomorrow.  I have waited to do my groceries till then.

Have a great night everyone, sleep well.

I just know that 32 women have been blessed by God these last couple of days and nights.  What an awesome retreat.  And this facility is a godly place, too.  I have stayed in a lot of different motels and this is the only place that every time you speak to a worker here, they say 'God Bless You' when you are done speaking.  Awesome place.

My cordless mouse died.  I couldn't get it opened to see what size battery it needs.  I took it to the lobby since I know Cindy is pretty savvy with computers.  She couldn't get it opened either.  She finally said it doesn't have a battery to replace.  Well, yesterday while we had downtime, I got it opened.  I showed Cindy and she said 'And I have a battery for you!'  Now my mouse is working.  How many facilities would give you a battery?

I used my earplugs last night and slept like a very, tired baby!  Awesome night of rest!

The retreat is almost over.  Great time!

Cold - about 10 degrees below normal and looks like that's what we'll have for the next week or so.  The snow yesterday and last night only amounted to about an inch - just enough to be clean and sparkly in the sun.

Etta Sue it sounds as though your retreat has been wonderfully fruitful!

Maple syrup - the real stuff - is much too expensive around here for my budget.  My first husband was raised on Log Cabin "maple syrup".  On a weekend holiday we were at a B&B that had a grove and tapped their own trees and made their own syrup.  When we were served pancakes my husband was so used to the commercial blends that he didn't like the real stuff.   :yikes:

Jeanne many areas allow mixing brown sugar into Maple Syrup as it is being boiled down.  The province of Ontario doesn't.  If you ever buy Maple Syrup from Canada make sure it is Ontario Maple Syrup.  Also each area has a different taste.  The best comes from At. Joseph's Island.  It has won the blue ribbon at the Winter Fair most years!  My friends is amazing.  If we knew ahead when John would be in your area I would send a bottle down with him! We buy about 3 quarts every year, and have to be careful how we use it!!!! Often we use it instead of sugar in tea and coffee!

John has headed out to do a driving test for the company.  I don't mind this, it is part of his job that he enjoys.  The gent is driving for another company now so knows how to actually handle the big rig.

We have a cold windy day here. It is hard to get warm.  Spring is on it's way, and the wind helps dry things out.  The creek has gone down, and the concern of flooding has lessened.  We welcome the snow and rain, it will have brought the water table up.

God is indeed good.  This is the day He has made, let us all rejoice and be glad in it!!!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is a truly beautiful morning here in Georgia.  We were able to open up the house yesterday afternoon as it got up to 73 degrees.  Mary had been cooking and the kitchen had gotten very warm.  I turned off the furnace and didn't turn it back on last night.  It is to be even nicer this weekend than yesterday.  I have nothing scheduled for today so plan to stay home unless something unanticipated turns up that needs to be done.  I put on my computer teacher hat this morning and went over all but the music programs I have on Mary's computer with her.  She has had a desktop for several years but doesn't have Internet.

Jeanne, it is about this time of year that it seems winter has been in place a long time.  However, warmer days are ahead. Muffins sound good.

Janet, that must be a page turner if you can hardly put it down.

RuthV, I think the point of being able to say no is that we do what we want to do and not what someone else decides that we should be doing.  If I enjoy what I am doing or feel led to do it then I make the decision to do it.  Would be frustrating to make such a long drive and not be able to purchase what you went after.  At least you had a good and enjoyable lunch.

Judy, just remember that "this too shall pass" in terms of John's hours.  Of course, I understand that doesn't pay the bills.  Hope the miles go up soon for him.

Pat, very nice graphic.

Carol, if the stylus pens that Don is making work better on the iPad than the ones we get off of eBay or Amazon, which are not very finite, I would be interested in purchasing one from him if he is selling them.  I sure wish they could make a stylus that is basically like a pencil point rather than a brush.  Stacey's new living quarters are wonderful in that everything is handicap designed and the building is so secure.  She saw the cardiologist this week and he said she seemed to be doing OK and to come back in 6 months, which thrilled her.

Etta Sue, I am thinking that you are probably not the first guest of the facility that has had a battery die in their computer mouse.  I just had a mouse die completely this week as used two different sets of fresh batteries and no response.  I have ordered a new one that will be here Tuesday that is suppose to have about a two year battery life. Currently I having to move my wireless mouse from my desktop to my laptop when I need to use the other computer.  It sounds like you have had a wonderful time at your retreat and will come home renewed.

Janet

I got up early and went to the health fair that our Pioneer Electric and Pioneer Communications companies here do for us each year.  Got my blood drawn, went around to all the booths, picking up whatever information interested me, attended both the meetings, got nice gifts from them, also had a lovely dinner provided for us free from the Pioneer Companies.  What a deal, right?  The food was done by Webb Barbecue and was delicious!

Now I am home and very sleepy.  I want to go to church tonight, so a nap is next on my agenda.  I have read and enjoyed all your posts, and will return!

Ruth

I always enjoy the time I spend here reading but not posting.

To day I come with a heavy heart but also knowing it is  in God's hands.
I would like that you would remember our family's at this time, our DIL Charlene is waiting to have surgery, her bowl and lung  early stage cancer positive or negative we do not know until all the reports are back. I understand the surgery will take place tomorrow sometime.  In different ways we are all in shock and hurting.

In advance thank you.     Ruth
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Pat

Oh, goodness Ruth!  What sad news.  I'm so sorry.  Definitely will be praying for the family circle and especially for Charlene.   <3

It is an hour and a half drive from Brown County to home.  Soon after leaving Nashville the temperature was 62°.  As I was pulling into Betty's drive it was 45°.  It started out sunny and ended up hazy and foggy.  Big difference.

The fur girls were glad to see me and it didn't take long for me to be unpacked and all put away...all done but laundry.

The girls loved being on my lap and beside me as I watched TV and sleeping with me.

And there is nothing like your own bed!!

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful day here in Georgia.  I will go to church in about an hour or so and then stop at Kroger's for some fried chicken and a couple of other items that are needed in the kitchen.  Pat is walking more but still using the walker and the incision is still not looking too good.  She has a long way to go to recover strength and stamina.

Janet, your health fair sounds like a very enjoyable day.

Ruth, I will certainly keep your DIL Charlene in my thoughts and prayers. I am sure today will be a long day for your family.

Etta Sue, I expect it was a long time for your cats while you were away.  Glad you are safely home.

Jeanne Lee

When Gene and I would leave our two cats for any length of time they would let us know in no uncertain terms they were not pleased.  For the first 24 hours after we got home, as soon as we sat down they would both sit about 4 feet in front of us - with their back turned!   ;D

Jeanne Cimi does that to us if we "go to work" and don't take her!  The other two as soon as John comes in they wine and cry they are so happy to see him.

Information for everyone here.  If someone you know has cancer, send an email to Victoria's Quilts.  They give quilts to cancer sufferers free of cost to the person.  You don't have to pay either. This is a wonderful organization.  Donations are appreciated.  You will need to give the person's name, address, and phone number, as well as your name, address, and phone number.  This serves people across the US and Canada.  Also quilters are needed to make quilts for these folks. See here

John leaves for Solway MN today.  This is a good start to the week!
