Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

No honey do list, the list he has created himself is too long as it is.

Was at the doctor today.  I now have a secondary infection, 2 nasal puffers, 1 more of a spray, 3 puffers for the lungs as well as an antibiotic....Hope this works and I start feeling better.... this has gone on for over 2 weeks now and a sore throat for over a month.

We are having problems already with the deer.  They love our garden!  We are talking about putting a dog shelter out at the end of the garden and tethering Rambo out there from early evening till nightfall. It is a large garden too big to fence in.  The deer are beautiful animals however they have become a nuisance.

Well enough for now, Night all

Hi everyone.  A beautiful sunny and windy day.  It is suppose to get up to 78 this afternoon.  I just rescheduled the air conditioning check until this afternoon so it would be warm enough to check.  I have nothing else on the schedule for today so look forward to a laid-back and restful day.  There are always some things to do here in my office so I won't be bored.

Carol, our neighbors have a daughter who lives fairly close and we have offered to help.  Our friend was held over in the hospital last evening after thinking all day he would be released. One of our friends came to Bible study yesterday with a big bandage on his ear as he had cancerous tissue removed and apparently they took quite a chunk out of his ear. He had the MOHS procedure done. It is hard to see how anything good comes out of non-medical drug use, illegal or legal.  It just brings heartache and pain all around.

Marilyn, I hope you got some answers from your ENT appointment yesterday.  I see you have a plan of action to address the problems.

Judy, I thought every wife made "honey-do" lists.  :)  Hope your new medications bring you some relief so you start feeling better.  Don't the dear get in your garden after nightfall?  I know I have seen dear around here at night.

Ruth, thanks for the info on Barry.  I know very little about cities in Canada or even where they are located.

John, did you get Judy an extra large pad of paper for her "honey-do" lists?  I know you are looking forward to your well earned retirement.  (I see Jeanne is anticipating your "honey-do" list as well.)

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, friends,

My son is enjoying his visit, but misses his family terribly. Today we have storms coming, so he's in bed with a migraine. He said, it's wonderful that his wife and family understand about those headaches.

My brother and his wife are coming tomorrow, and hope to eat lunch with us. It's so nice when family gets together.  With their lives as busy as they are, I only get to see them when they come to visit their daughter and family. However, I hear by phone often. My brother calls when time permits.

Marilyn, I understand the tinnitus and needing to get the ears cleaned out. Mine get it every 4-6 months. I have a permanent tube in one ear, and the wax tends to gather around the edges of the tube, threatening to dislodge it. So, I, too am told to use the drops to soften the wax. My hearing really improves when the ears aren't blocked by the wax. :)

I had not heard of the difficulties surrounding the marijuana use in Colorado.  It certainly seems the media keeps that one under wraps!

Larry, I wonder if I'll ever get my old papers in order. It seems something always takes precedence.  About the black rice, my son tells me his wife cooks it with a beef bouillon cube, two cloves of garlic, and a small onion. It ends up being somewhat like sticky rice, but certainly has a good taste. He's learned that it, more than other carbohydrates, seems to help keep his blood sugar more level, so he eats it each meal.

Judy and John, I truly wish y'all a wonderful retirement. You'll find yourselves very busy, but there seems to be a contentment about knowing we've worked hard and been good stewards for our Lord. And, it's great to have more time to volunteer, etc.

Ruth, it's good to hear from you. I agree, I do pray for individuals as they request it, and I also enjoy going to the prayer and praise area here in CP to see the additional requests and reports of progress.

Smokey, that music was really good. I enjoyed it.

Janet, hope y'all have a wonderful trip, and that both of you feel great during that time. :)

Pat, it's good to see you with us, too. :)

Well, I must go - the laundry beckons. And, I must answer. :)

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Marilyn and Judy, I pray you both find relief soon with the latest treatments.  It's hard to always be feeling "not quite right".

With the hearing aids I have to keep the ear wax cleaned out daily.  I can always tell when I've missed some or it has built up faster because I start to get constant little pings with every slight sound - even my own breathing.

I just got off the phone after an hour long conversation with my daughter - she turned 53 today.  And that's my baby!!!

I see the Audiologist next Wednesday for testing. The Dr. seems to think maybe I have lost some of the higher tones then again maybe not. He said it was so dry inside my ears that he wouldn't even risk trying to clean them until we get it softened up with the oil. He said it looked like Eczema in my left ear because it was so dry and scaly. I will be going to a different Physical Therapist than I went to before. I have heard very good things about the place he is sending me.

I am trying to find info on what happened in Colorado, anyone have a link that I can use to get the information?

Today was a busy day, with a lovely ending.  I spent some time with Elizabeth and Ivy.  She is such a cutie, and it is wonderful to spend time with her.

Marilyn I don't know what I would do if I lost my hearing, our dad was hard of hearing, and I remember him saying he missed the sound of the crickets.  Take care of your ears, you don't want to go down that path.

Blue sky, sunny and not overly cold.  Looks like spring is arriving soon!

Have a great day everyone!

Ruth

hello all

At noon both Mel and I had our 5 wk. foot care; and it was so lovely
out that we had lunch out side the first of many for this year.

This will be my last visit for several days. As I have said I have been having issues with my knee be told a month ago that I was not to have a knee replacement but a hip as it is jammed real good. Tomorrow at 1:00 in the afternoon I will be having hip replacement. Please pray that all will be very successful.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Ruth, I will be praying for you and the success of your hip replacement.

Another sunny but cool and breezy day.  It's still dropping below freezing at night, but this too will pass and before long I'll be wishing for cooler nights for sleeping.  We humans are never satisfied, are we?   :D

Hi everyone.  While it is overcast at the moment it is suppose to be a nice day with no rain.  Our day got off to an interesting start when we lost our electricity of about 50 minutes this morning.  I have a feeling a car must have hit a pole and knocked out a transformer.  I have my ROMEO's luncheon today at 12:15.  It is at a Chinese restaurant.

My neighbor didn't get out of the hospital yesterday.  He had been told by his doctor that he would be dismissed and he had called me to pick him up.  However, about the time I got there he called to say they were keeping him as his last x-ray, probably of his lungs, was worse than when they had admitted him.  Later yesterday one of our housekeepers brought her son and three other strong young boys over and they got our old TV and helped get the new one setup.  I am not sure it isn't smarter than I am as haven't figured out how to use the "magic remote" to change the channels.  I did get the Netflix and Amazon Prime set up however.  It is an LG 47 inch smart TV and plenty big for our room.  The chest we had planned to put it on was brought down from our bonus room but turned out not to be wide enough as the legs on the new tv were set out towards each end of the set.  So we are using our sofa table, which works fine but expect Pat will want something else as you can see the wires in back of it.  We also had our AC checked out yesterday and it was fine.  It is 18 years old so always keep my fingers crossed that it lasts another year.

Ruth Ann, is this your son that lives in the Far East that is visiting?  Hope you get to have lunch with your brother and SIL today as sure they will enjoy seeing both you and your son.  I still haven't started on my old papers, guess it isn't a priority.

Jeanne, that little ping sounds would certainly serve as a reminder.  I am so fortunate to not have a hearing or vision problem. Our son is almost as old as your daughter.  It doesn't seem possible--where has the time gone.

Marilyn, hope the PT is helpful.  Pat just got hers setup this morning and will start next Tuesday.  It will be at the same place she had the PT for her knee replacement.

Judy, it is so much fun to be around a little one as they discover the world around them.

Ruth, your hip rather than knee sounds like the experience Pat had as she went to the doctor to get the other knee authorized for surgery but had a hip x-ray and found out it was her hip and not her knee that was the problem and thus a hip replacement.

JohnB

Well everyone I keep hearing about this honey do list and yes don't let Judy fool you. She does have one and no I don't need to get a large pad as she has it all in her head and won't write it down therefore keeping me in suspense. My own list is large enough and joined with hers I am sure I won't run out of things to do any time soon. I spoke with the VP at work today and he has now asked me to consider being available on a part time basis if they need some vacation coverage or something. He seems to be pulling out all the stops to keep me attached to the company. Part time may be a consideration for some vacation money so Judy and I can do some travelling in the winter months and get out of this cold up here. Will have to see though. I am looking forward to doing what I want to do and not what I have to do.  I have worked many years for this privilege. Anyway going to go for now. Have to run a load to Rouyn Noranda Quebec tomorrow and then home for the weekend. Blessings everyone.
Phil. 1: 21. For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Ruth:  Prayers for a successful hip surgery.  You went in for a knee problem and came away with a hip replacement - amazing.

You really don't find national news chatting about the troubles with approving drug use here.  They believe the taxes will be so great - but, they are finding that a drug cartel from the country to the south is involved and they don't pay taxes.

Marilyn:  It sure sounds like you are getting good attention for your vertigo issue.  There will be an answer.

We have a full day planned tomorrow with my meeting the quilt council in Fort Collins while Don has coffee with an old friend.  Then, stopping at daughter's house to hug two grandchildren and visit and perhaps we can see another grand on the way home.  We bought two tomato plants and 8 little pots of multi-colored flowers but cannot plant them until at least six days because of a temperature drop coming.  So, they are in the garage and being misted every day.

Our neighbor had a new bible and it looks interesting enough so must go to the church store and see if it is available.  Can't remember the title.

Our bible study leader is recovering from a bad broken leg from skiing accident.  So difficult she had to stay at the hospital extra days because their bedroom and shower are on the 2nd. floor.  After this, I am sure they will make it a goal to finally move to a one-floor house plan like this neighborhood has and I am always grateful that we don't have to go to the basement if we are not feeling up to it.

Hi everyone.  It is going to be another delightful day here in Georgia with it being sunny and up to 80 degrees.  This is the day for our annual Grayson Day, which will bring a lot of people to our park with a parade and many booths.  I haven't been able to attend for several years as can't handle the walking involved.  I have decided I will take my new TV back, as have 30 days to return it.  I have found it doesn't do some of the things it should, like change channels with the remote.  I will work on it a little more to see if I have missed something and if not back it goes and will be replaced with another brand.  I have a 30 day return period.  Other than coffee this morning I think I will have a pretty quiet day today.  Pat may want to go out to eat at noon but that remains to be seen.  My neighbor is still in the hospital.

John, I am sure you will stay very busy in your retirement.  I know you have been a very valued employee and if you are suppose to do some part time work it will happen.

Carol, hope you enjoy your quilting council today and know you will enjoy the hugs from the two grandchildren and perhaps a third.  For sometime now I have been using the Bible app on my iPhone in Bible study.  I have a very nice, fairly new, study Bible but it is too heavy for me to enjoy using.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable day today.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone on an overcast warm Sunday morning.  I will go to church in a couple of hours and if Pat wants we will go out for lunch.  Yesterday turned out to be an interesting day.  I was able to contact LG television support through the Dish Network tech.  They helped me set it up properly for Dish and to answer some other questions about how the magic remote works and doesn't work.  We will still need to use the Dish remote to change channels and the speaking function currently works only with the Internet browser they use.  I still have a couple of weeks before deciding whether to keep this set or not.  I sure hate to take it back as the beautiful is beautiful and know we will adjust to it.  I have a Logitech Universal Remote I am going to try to set to work with the new TV.

Then I decided to re-install Windows 7 on my laptop and ditch the Windows 8 as it wouldn't update and had never worked correctly.  So I spend a good part of the afternoon and evening installing Windows 7 and then doing the updates.  It took about 4 fo 5 interations of checking for updates to get the software up-to-date but now have it on the wi-fi and am loading software I want on it while working here on my desktop.  I am not going to load it down with software as use it mainly for my evening activities, which are mainly fun and games, reading email and watching Netflix on occasion.  I should have it done before leaving for church.

Pat will start her three times a week physical therapy on Tuesday and I sure hope it helps her.  Hope everyone is feeling well today or at least better and can enjoy this good day that God has allowed us to have.

Ruth Ann Bice

Yes, Larry, it is my son who lives abroad. His wife's counting down the days till he returns, and I'm saying, "How good it has been to be with him again." :)

I hope Ruth's hip replacement went well.

Y'all take care, and I'll return after he leaves on Tuesday morning.
