Hi everyone.  It is another cloudy but very warm day here in Georgia.  We expect to reach 74 degrees this afternoon.  We had a nice visit with our friends yesterday in their new cottage.  They are getting settled and it looks like they will be very comfortable there.  They are still cleaning out their two story home so they can list it for sale.  Today is our ROMEO's lunch at O'Charley's.  This morning I finished up setting up the computer for Pat that I have been using.  The monitor was delayed in arrival but hopefully will be here today and she should be set to go.  I worked several hours on it yesterday and now will conform the new computer to the way I want it.  That will be it for today.

Pat, thanks for posting my story and Janet thanks for writing it up.  I haven't read it yet but will do so a little later.

Ruth, I hope your day isn't dreary again to today.

JudyB

Sky is clear and it is cold out.  I have to get the fire lit, I wear sweaters to stay warm and delay lighting till the afternoon, that way I save wood.

John is on his way home, and I'm looking forward to seeing him.  This has been a tough week.

God bless you all.

Carol

Pat and Janet:  I just sent three pictures.  Something has changed on the email attachment site and it was impossible for me to send them all together.  Always something.

JudyB:  Sorry that this has been a difficult week  for you - what has John decided on which job he will take?

We went to Sam's Club as the deadline for renewing is coming up and we won't be renewing.  We did find two pairs of slacks for Don so I can throw out two pairs that are not so good, not good enough to be donated either.  Now, Don is still working on the garage door and that isn't working either.  Cold out there.

I thought I wrote in here about a friend having normal numbers on his cancer so that is such a blessing.  My physical was this morning and all is very good.  Now to keep working on my memory.  Feeling blessed and very grateful.

Janet

We just got home from Garden City.  It has been 14 to 15 degrees all day, so one doesn't spend any longer outdoors than necessary!!  Br-r-r-r!  Darrel had a short checkup with his interventional heart doctor.  It didn't amount to much, but he is doing well.  I don't care for this doctor at all.  He is loud, brash and confrontational.  If I need a heart doctor, I will look elsewhere!  If you have a real problem, he doesn't treat it, anyway, just sends you to somebody else.

We got some Christmas shopping done while we were there, and that's good.

Carol, I will go look at your photos!

Larry, doing your story was a pleasure.  Hope you like it!

Judy, I'm glad John will be home and hope you have a peaceful weekend!

Hi everyone, I have  experience a rather bad day yesterday starting with a flat tire. It took Keith 3 hours of working on that wheel to get the tire off and the little donut put on.  Also I  was going to grind some flax seed using the blender when the  blender threw the jar off  spreading seeds all over the kitchen counter and floor, what  mess that was to clean up. I cut the palm of my hand in the process, so put some on lavender oil and and a band aid then went on with the cleaning. On top of all that I came down with a cold.

Today I called Walmart to see if they took appointments for the tires, but they don't, they did, however, set aside a pair of tires for me adnd told me that they open at 7 and to get there early because by 10 am it gets pretty crazy. So it looks like we will be getting up early on a Saturday morning to go buy tires for my car.

It is now thundering and raining, we were supposed to get snow, it may still come.

Marilyn I had a pastor who said, "It came to pass, it didn't come to stay."  Sorry the day turned out like that.

We are still in a bit of a quandary about the job situation.  Will let you know when we decide.

John is home and tomorrow night is the Christmas Dinner at church.  I am looking forward to that.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Sorry I've missed being here for a day or so.  I laid down yesterday and it ended up that I had lain down for the night. ;)

And, today about the same thing happened, but this time I awakened.

I was out for an annual checkup in the freezing rain. Then met friends for lunch/dinner.

A friend texted that she had learned we might have ice, "was I in and safe or out playing in the weather." My reply was that I thought I'd take my boot out and check to see if it skates. She responded that she had had a conversation with that boot and it said it doesn't skate - to go back home!  ;D

They even canceled our Christmas parade this year, along with the Christmas tree lighting. Oh, well, maybe by cancelling that parade some individuals won't get wet, cold and sick.

And, most likely we will see the lights on the city's Christmas tree anyway.

Y'all have a wonderful rest of the day.

Hi everyone.  Some of that cold weather has arrived in the south as it went from 74 yesterday to 42 this morning.  I am certainly not complaining about the temperature as so many over the country are having such bad weather.  Our big activity for this afternoon is to go to the Aurora Theater for the Christmas Canteen show. I am still trying to get the desktop computer all set up as Pat wants hers and like I like mine.  I am having trouble getting one of the printers to be online and will have to work with that today.

Carol, we dropped our Sam's Club membership a year or so ago as you have to buy such large quantities.  I think we are getting a new Costco fairly close by so will probably join there for a year or so.

Janet, I wouldn't like that doctor either.  Fortunately I have some very good doctors who I really like.  I still haven't had time to look at my story but haven't forgotten about it.

Marilyn, I think you have every right to say you had a bad day yesterday.  Sure hope today is better.  Hope you get your new tires today.

Judy, I am sure you all will make the right decision on the job situation.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like it will be a good time to stay in where you are nice and warm and safe from the bad weather and keep your car parked.

Janet

I went to my friend Pat's house last night for a jewelry party, and as I was driving home, I noticed the exterior temperature was 2 degrees!!  Now, that's the coldest we have had in a long time!  Wind chill was at -10.  Glad I didn't have to be out except from her house to my car!  This morning, it is clear UP to 7 degrees, so we have a heat wave going on!  ;)  But very little wind, so I really don't mind the cold, since I don't have to work outdoors or anything.  We are blessed to have a warm, comfortable home.  God is so good to us.

Darrel surprised me by saying, "Let's go out to breakfast."  So we did that, then stopped and got two items we didn't find yesterday.  Now I'm about to start wrapping gifts again as soon as I finish here.

Good to read all your posts this morning, and I hope everyone stays safe and warm.

Hi, folks, I've had a very quiet day today, but seem to be getting revved up now. :)

I like to do a few things each day to let the apartment know I'm happy here. This evening will be time to "love" the living room.

Y'all have a good day.

Ruth Ann

Janet

Ruth Ann, I like the way you express that!  I try to "love" my home some each day, too!  If I don't, I get too far behind on the loving!  ;)

Hi everyone.  It is another rainy and dreary morning here in Georgia but really not too cold.  I have already made a trip to the church to take the caramel corn that Pat made up into small bags for the annual craft and bake sale.  They had many beautiful items for Christmas and for gifts displayed.  This sale is only for members of the church.  Yesterday we had a wonderful time at the Christmas Canteen we attended.  It was a professional musical program with so much energy and plain fun with great singing and a bit of comedy.  It last 2 1/2 hours with just a 15 minute intermission after about 1 1/2 hours.  Needless to say Pat and I were both exhausted just from watching them.  On my way back from the church I stopped and got Pat and I something for a quick breakfast and we will attend church later and go out to eat lunch.  That will be plenty for today.

Janet, did your car complain in having to start in such cold weather?  There is a lot of cold weather across the country.

Ruth Ann, I bet your apartment is appreciating your tender care and you are enjoying it too when it is done.

Janet

No, Larry, the car didn't seem to mind starting, thank God.  It is used to being in the garage, not out in such cold weather, so that's a blessing, for it to start right up.  I surely do not miss those days of having to run the car for a while, and scraping ice off the windows!  Brrrr!  Love having a garage!  That program sounds like it was so much fun, I love those high energy performances, , but like you, it sometimes wears me out just watching!

Boy, I'm glad Darrel is sitting here in a warm room watching the Chiefs play Washington, because I sure wouldn't want him (or me) out in the stands in that snow!  They are sliding and falling on the slick grass, too.  And the lines on the field are almost obliterated!  Wow!  Gotta be a hard-core football fan to sit in the stands and watch that game!

A long-time friend, who is several years older than Beth, passed away on Friday.  She was married and had two sons, but then she got a brain tumor, and her health had gone steadily downhill.  She has been in the care home here for several years, and for the past two or three years could no longer talk.  But Darlene had such a heart for the Lord, and always had a smile and a 'thumbs-up' for me, with a sparkle in her eyes.  She loved the Lord so much, and I know she's having a grand time in heaven, free from the prison of a body that would not respond to her wishes any more.  I asked her to tell our beloved Pastor Bill hello for me.  Her service is at our church tomorrow.

Chicken's done--see you later!

Hi, friends,

It's been an icy, cold day, so with the boot and being more clumsy because of it, I chose to remain at home today. The church has 14 steps to the door, so don't want to risk falling.

But I enjoyed 3 church services by tv today, and each left me with thoughts to ponder.

Y'all have a wonderful day with our Lord.

Janet Leave the wipers up off the windshield.  That will make clearing the window easier.

Marilyn

I did go get my new tires yesterday early in the morning,we were at Walmart by 7:45am. Today I bathed happy so he will be clean for his Vet appointment on Friday.

It has been very cold here, in the 20's.

Thanks, Judy, but I prefer leaving the car in the garage!  There was no precipitation the other evening while I was in town--the night it got down to 0.  ;)

Twenty sounds pretty good to me right now, Marilyn!  But our cold snap is over, at least for a few days, I think.

Yesterday was Don's birthday celebration at oldest son's house.  Only one grandson is missing but will be "home" for Christmas.  He is in Canada playing hockey and they are allowed one "foreigner" to play on the team - he is the foreigner.  I think that is so funny.  Our second grandson has been accepted to Colo State  - Fort Collins & is looking for scholarships.  Our granddaughter made the desserts last night and everything is always chocolate.

Janet:  Never mind the personality of any doctor if they happen to be brilliant.  I had a surgeon operate on  my neck years ago and he was rude beyond normal - excellent surgeon.

Glad you are getting the new tires at least.

JudyB:  "It came to pass but didn't stay" - nice quote.

Ruth Ann:  Wonderful that your city still has Christmas lights - our big city now only says "holiday" lights on the city building but they can smoke pot on the front porch so that is more imporant to their minds.

:coffee:

Janet

Oops!  Seems I 'spoke' too soon about our weather, as it is 5 this morning!  But may get up to 17 as the day goes on!  Maybe clear up to 50 by Friday, though--that's Kansas for you.  :)

John Hagee is preaching in a bright red suit with red-striped tie--very festive!  Most men wouldn't wear bright colors, especially in suits.  Darrel always complains when he shops for clothes that, "Why don't they make men's clothes in nice colors?  All they usually have is brown (he dislikes brown!) charcoal gray, navy blue or black!"  Aren't you glad God made each of us unique?  What a boring world it would be if we were all alike!  And if we were, it wouldn't likely even matter who we married!  What a thought!  I think I better corral my runaway thoughts and get with it!

Marilyn, did you get your new tires on your car yet?

We went to a dinner party of our small group last night.  It was fun.  We played 'Balderdash' and had a lot of laughs!  That group has good imagination!  ;)

At 1:00 is the service for Darlene, and Darrel's diabetic support group meeting is tonight.  And since I got up two hours later than usual, due to being out later last night, the day is fleeting fast!

Carol, please give Don my belated birthday greetings and best wishes for a wonderful year ahead.  So nice almost all your family could be together to help him celebrate.  When all is said and done, family is what matters!

Greeting to all who pop in later!

Janet, you've got us beat - at least for now.  We're going to be in the mid-20's today and low 20's the next few days.  But then at night it will drop down to single digits for at least four nights, maybe more.  Yep! It's winter.   ;D

Janet I remember back 1967-1968 the "prominent" fellows in our youth group wore various shades of white, or very pale grey suits.  I always liked the lighter colours as well.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is a rainy day and very dark and dreary.  I didn't feel well yesterday and don't today so won't be attending my men's luncheon or my meeting tonight.  This too shall pass.

Janet, in Green Bay, where a game was played yesterday, it was below zero and in Philadelphia they played part of the game in a heavy downfall of snow. Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend.

Janet

Yes, Larry, we saw part of that Philadelphia game, where they had to brush the snow off the lines on the field.  Tough guys!  I noticed there weren't many spectators in the stands, though!  And the Chiefs won, by a huge margin!

I am trying to order a gift card from Snap-On Tools for Mark, for Christmas.  And their site won't work.  Frustrating.  :-\

Time for me to get dressed and ready to meet the day!

Hi, friends,

It's almost time for me to hear from my Philippine family, so won't "talk" too long.

It was time for my neighbor to get his other cataract removed today, so a good bit of my day has been taken up with taking him, waiting on him at the surgery center, and taking him home. He was so angry and rigid about when I put the drops in his eyes the last time that he's on his own this time. He threw a full fledged tantrum on me for being only 6 minutes late, and after I had called letting him know when I was leaving from across town. None of us, though, can take into account a wreck along the way that was causing 3 lanes of traffic to merge into 1 lane... Oh, well, I guess that was trying to put pearls into a "sow's purse" as is referred to in the New Testament. :) All we can do is try to serve our Lord as best we know how and wait for His guidance from there.

Then, it was time to see to it that the faucets were dripping at the house before bad weather this week, and then to pick up mail and make sure that a mail forwarding card was filled out.

All told, that took up most of the day. Now it's time to wait for the doctor to call with results of a test done last Friday, and to then check the internet till time to get the call from the Philippines.

Y'all have a good day.

Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  We actually saw the sun for a couple of minutes today but it is overcast again.  Yesterday was pretty much a wasted day and spent a lot of time laying down resting.  I don't think today is going to be much better but I do have a commitment at 11 am that I will honor and a couple of quick errands and then will rest for the remainder of the day.  Pat has been busy Christmas shopping online.  It takes awhile but is much easier than walking through the stores.

Ruth Ann, what ungratefulness that your friend displayed.  It sounds like you had a very busy day.

Marilyn, I as sure you take good care of your car.  I remember when you bought it a number of years ago.
