Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

May the Mind of Christ My Savior

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. --Philippians 2:5 (KJV)

If ever there was a hymn that served well as a prayer, it's "May the Mind of Christ My Savior." In the dead of night when I cannot sleep, when anxious thoughts erode my peace of mind and keep me awake, I recall the words to this hymn. When I feel far from God and unable to pray, I borrow each stanza of this hymn and make it my prayer. Before I know it, my heart is at rest.

May the mind of Christ my Savior live in me from day to day
By his power and love controlling, all I do and say.
May the word of God dwell richly in my heart from hour to hour;
And may all who see I triumph, only in its power.
May the peace of God my Father rule my life in every thing;
That I may be calm to comfort sick and sorrowing.

May his beauty rest upon me, as I seek the lost to win;
And may they forget the channel, seeing only him.
May the love of Jesus fill me, as the waters fill the sea;
Him extolling, self abasing - this is victory.
May I run the race before me, strong and brave to face the foe;
Looking only unto Jesus as I onward go.

The next time you cannot find words to wrap around your circumstances, flip open the hymnal. One of the blessings of memorizing scripture songs, praise choruses, or beautiful old hymns is that each stanza provides a ready resource of rich and fruitful fodder for prayer. For your prayer time today, choose a favorite hymn you know by heart... borrow the words and turn them into your personal praise, confession and intercession to the Father.

May the mind of you, my Savior, live in me from day to day... by your power and love controlling, all I do and say.

Thanks Pat, for the very good devotional!

Well, Wiarton Willie didn't see his shadow today so apparently that means an early spring in north western Ontario!

But...

I heard that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow so that means at least six more weeks of winter!!!

There you have it folks!  Tried and true weather predictors!  HAHAHA!

HAHAHA!  It doesn't really matter anyway, Pat.  Around here six more weeks of winter would be a very optimistic forecast!  Right now it's snowing heavily, there's about 10 inches on my from porch so far and it's supposed to continue until sometime this evening.  And the temperature is all the way up to +4 F (about 24 C).

I managed to get my door open about 3 inches in order to take this photo with my phone!  Somewhere under that is a pathway!

Gee, Pat!  That looks like home!  I keep pushing my storm door open to clear some of it away so it won't get piled up so much I can't get out.  Of course, that leaves the rest of the porch and steps and path with about 16 inches deep (so far) that I'd have to wade through.   :(  I'll wait until it stops before I take a picture.

Hi everyone.  We had a very rainy night but about 8 am it stopped and we have a perfectly clear, sunny afternoon.  It has been a super busy day.  I got up fairly early to start working on Pat's laptop.  I have restored it to factory condition and have it connected to the Internet, which was the problem causing this drastic measure.  Now the many Windows updates will have to be done and then install the programs she wants and get her files back on the computer.  I did save copies of her files and took pictures of her desktop so will be able to set it up again pretty much as she had it.  I have several hours of work ahead of me to get it restored.

We went to COSTCO this morning and joined.  It is about 15 minutes from the house and it is very new.  I would not attempt to shop there without the electric cart and even by the time we got home I was really tired.  We were there for over three hours and had a quick lunch there.  Now the problem is trying to find space to store the food as things come in big quantities.  While I was laying down, after resting an hour, I read the message boards.  Now will just make a short posting.

Carol

Our daughter came for a 3 1/2 day visit and here in Tucson the rain and fog did not stop until the moment we drove her to the airport.  We did have a break the first day and went on a desert walk behind a museum - just sprinkles of rain at that point.  Otherwise, there was a lot of flooding so we stayed away from the low areas.  She was not feeling well - just got a job offer and answered it when she got off the plane.  We were wondering what was keeping her and she was on the phone accepting the new job which means she will be working "in the Cloud" for a tech company but out of her home mainly.  She was a bit anxious and other family things going on so we hope we were good mom and dad for her to relax.

Don was painting again this morning and I have touch-up to do later.  We keep seeing things to do but now must visit with two cousins who have limited time here.

Pat:  I hope you didn't have to walk out on that path - it looks like heavy and wet snow to me.  The depth is tough to shovel.  Remembering Minnesota winters.  Thinking that you knit sometimes, maybe that is your sister?  I finished the sweater (pattern sent to Judy) after three years.  It is so heavy but made for those really cold days.  What have you been up to lately?

We watched the Super Bowl and it was a good game but the Seahawks made a big mistake and gave the win away.  Not fun to watch - my cousins and brothers are sad for sure.

We are driving to Yuma (too close to the border) to visit two cousins who came from Washington.  It is always warmer in that area and the pool in the park is just the perfect temperature at this time of the year.  We shall see what they decide.

Carol

Larry:  Those big store runs wear anyone out.  Yes, there is savings and then the issue of putting things in storage.  Luckily, we have cabinets in the garage and I only buy the best bargains and things that will fit.  Glad you are settling in with shopping and working on that computer.  Each day you can check another thing off the list.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone on a bright, chilly morning here in South Carolina.  It was 30 degrees when I got up at dawn this morning.  Yesterday was another very busy day.  I did have success in restoring Pat's computer to factory condition and that did re-establish the Internet connection, which we had lost on the computer.  I got some programs installed and will work more on it today.

We did go to COSTCO and joined.  Then we did some shopping and had lunch.  We managed to spend about three hours in the process.  It is a new store and very nicely laid out and very clean.  We did manage to spend quite a few dollars as Pat stocked up on meat for the freezer.

I learned yesterday that I am going to have to get regular car plates until I can get a new doctor's certificate and prescription for the handicapped plates.  It seems there are many hoops to jump through to get various things done.  After the plates we will focus on new Driver's license but have 45 days after coming into the State.  My Georgia plates run out on the 12th so can't wait around.

Carol, happy that you daughter has a new job and hope she is feeling better soon.  The Super Bowl did end in a strange way with the unbelievable catch by Seattle and then that very strange play at the end that gave the game to New England.

Does 220F below zero sound cold?  ( that's about -300C)  That's what it was at 5:30 this morning.  After 14 inches of new snow piled up on my front porch.  [attachimg=1]

Larry, seems like there's always one more thing that has to be attended to.  Is there any way you can get a temporary handicap tag to hang from the mirror?

Gord Brown

:)  Hi to all on C. P.    It seems a long time since I was on here.  Again doctor's app. and helping look after the grand kid's does take a lot of time.  We love having our grand kid's so close and today we have our youngest here as her parent's had to go to a funeral up in Toronto.

I took time last night to read through the last posting's for the past few weeks.  They are very interesting and some are so interesting to find out what you are all doing.

Noreen has a date to see the surgeon and to discuss what the next step is going to be with regards to her right knee the date is the 27th of Feb. but on the 24th she also has an app. for her eye regarding a cataract so we would value your prayers for these two thing's

Larry I am so glad that you are getting settled into your new house and that you are taking your time to get the boxes empty. May the Lord richly bless you in this new area that you are in. :coffee:

Well All others may the Lord give you a wonderful week and also some opportunities to be a witness for him.  Love in Christ.   Gordon and Noreen. :cp: :groupwave:

Carol

Gord:  Nice cheer squad!  You mentioned Noreen's knee surgery and I am reminded of a cousin who took a bullet in Korea so long ago and he has had numerous surgeries.  This last one was to replace the plastic plate.  Imagine - plastic or steel= neither sounds very good.

Pleased to report that daughter is feeling better.   Don just left for his very first acupuncture appointment.  there is a 5 session new patient procedure which he thought would be good to at least try as his shoulder is in pain too often.  Tomorrow we will drive to Yuma and stay at a motel while visiting our Washington cousins who are down here in trailers.  I could sleep in an old chair but decided the floor and a chair won't do for our aching bones.  We plan to go over the border for a few hours at a heavily used entrance - suspect the afternoon return will be heavy with the 5 million who are recently arriving but we need some things and they do like tourists in that area.  Heavily armed police all over.  There is a very old toothless woman sitting on the curb and I always buy her baskets then go to a little shop where they are making metal decorations - a family business.  Last time we bought two quail and it is just fun to meet the people again. We always go to a bakery first for a cup of coffee and fresh sweet roll.  Once a year.

Hi, friends,

It's good to catch up with everyone.

All the reports of snow and bitter cold temps make be wish for warmer weather for all. By the way, Pat, Chattanooga Chuck didn't see his shadow either. :)

I'll be going for today. Things to get done, and the day's more than half gone already!

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

Hi everyone.  It is a bit of an overcast morning but above freezing and certainly nothing to complain about.  I feel for the folks up North and the winter weather thay are having with snow and ice and more apparently on the way tomorrow.

Yesterday was a day of some frustrations in trying to get my new car tags.  We went to the DMV and found we hadto go to the County Seat first and pay property tax on the vehicles.  So we had a nice 17 mile country ride to the new County courthouse and paid the taxes.  By then it was past lunch time so we stopped for something to eat and then decided we were tired and came on home.  Our son came over and spent a couple of hours and had dinner with us.  The knees are still giving him a lot of problems. I did further work on Pat's computer but didn't have very much time to spend on it so there is more to do today.  We haven't made any specific plans for today.

Carol, hope the acupuncture treatments give Don some relief from the shoulder pain.  Hope you enjoy your trip across the border while you are in Yuma.

Gord, it takes awhile to read the past postings when we fall behind, even by a day.  Hope Noreen gets satisfactory answers from the long awaited doctor appointments.

Jeanne, 22 degrees below zero is way, way too cold along with the large amount of snow.

Jeanne Lee

Guess what!  It's cold but at least above zero at 120F and - surprise, surprise - it's snowing:D  This time might be only a couple of inches, but that will bring the total so far this year to almost 5 feet.   Oh well, at least there's no wind this morning.

Gord, you and Noreen are always remembered in my prayers.  I shouldn't complain about the weather when I read about what she's going through.

Hi, friends,

I've been working on another consulting project, plus taking my sister in law to the doctor and then shopping today.

Now, I'm ready for some down time. :)

Y'all have a good rest of the day with our Lord.

Hi everyone on another overcast but relatively warm morning.  I was finally successful in getting my cars registered in South Carolina after four trips to the DMV.  Each time it was something else.  While I waited yesterday the State's computer system was down for about an hour.  I will again have to go back when I get the paperwork necessary from my cardiologist for the handicapped plates.  Nothing special on the schedule for today other than continuing to unpack and attend to the myriad of details that still must be attended to.  My sister called yesterday and she and my BIL plan on visiting with us about a week from now for two or three days.  We will put them to work!  :)

Jeanne, it seems that snow total got large very quickly.

Ruth Ann, you seem to be kept pretty busy with the consulting jobs.  You must enjoy doing the work.

JudyB

It is cold here in the north yet again, -25C wood furnace is running hard.

We are heading out to the Target liquidation today.  All Canadian stores are closing. I don't shop Target their prices are too high however today they may be better and we have a birthday boy to shop for, also some grocery shopping.

Have a great day folks!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Larry, yes I enjoy the work, and don't have to leave my apartment to do it. All the work is done on the computer. So, I can work at it at my own pace.

Judy, that's a pretty cold temperature!

Much love to all who come here.

Ruth Ann

Judy, we had -220 F a couple of nights ago - that's about -300 C I think.  My furnace is going almost non-stop.  I'll be glad to see the end of this winter.  And don't talk to me about global warming!  :ticked:

Hi everyone.  It is a chilly but sunny day as this Friday starts off.  However, it will warm up to the low 50's this afternoon.  I got up late today as perhaps overdid a bit yesterday.  I plan on taking things easier today.  I was finally able to get one of my cars in the garage emptied out all but two boxes.  I think there is only one box left on the main level and it contains things that need to go to Pat's sewing room so will wait until the stair lift is installed.  There are still a few boxes to unpack in Pat's sewing room upstairs and in the attic.  There is a good possibility our closing date for sale of our home will be next Thursday, which is a couple of weeks earlier than we had thought.

Judy, hope you found some bargain at Target.  We seldom shop at Target either.

Jeanne, sometimes I fear we will all freeze if this global warming continues.

Marilyn

Today I am 75 gosh I sure don't feel 75..  I have started back at the gym  just 3 days this week.  I will increase to 5 days  after next week. going slow after being off for 2 months. Thank you Jesus!!!!

It is sure pouring rain but we will be going out to dinner this evening maybe at one of the places in the Casino, (No gambling) or the the Greek place, just waiting to see how much it is raining at that time.

Well tonight is dinner out.  We have been married 44 years.  I was planning on really splurging and going to a hotel for the night but John has a bad cold back so it is dinner and a movie.

These are the roses John bought me.  Have a great night everyone!

Jeanne Lee

A birthday - Marilyn, 75 isn't old unless you let it make you old!  Best wishes on this your special day.

Judy, enjoy celebrating those 44 years.  Dinner and a movie sounds like a good way to do just that.   ;)

We had a wonderful visit with my two cousins and their spouses - we stayed in a motel because the floors were probably too small in their trailers anyway and I didn't care to try.

Don's shoulder does feel better and he has a 2nd. acupuncture tomorrow.  Cautiously optimist.

Ruth Ann:  Prayed for your friend to have healing for her infection.  Love your resting on your laurels idea.

Jane:  Praying for Joy - she is a beautiful girl.

We drove back today and Don slept well most of the way - oh, yes I was driving when he slept. :D  We went to Mexico for a few cheaper things - medicine, etc.  Those poor people have nothing - you see mothers with their babies in a cloth trying to sell gum or some nonsense doo-dad - and we walk through a gate with our passports to our crazy but wonderful country.  Counting blessings.  Wishing that crooked country south of us would have a heart and really help their people - on a soapbox  so forgive me.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I sure am thankful to be back once again. It was a nice day, and I enjoyed being out in it. And, our Lord made it possible for me to find everything on my to-do list at one location! Praise His name.

Marilyn, I'm chasing behind you, so you're blazing my way into 75. :)

Judy and John, what a wonderful time to celebrate your life together. Happy anniversary.

Carol, thanks for always remembering everyone who posts. May your hubby really benefit from his treatments.

Larry, it will be good to get the house you now own to rights, and then to take care of selling your other house. Y'all certainly are brave to make this step. I look up to y'all for your strengths.

I have one unspoken prayer request tonight.

Y'all have a good rest of this day with our Lord.
