Morning Devotional...

In Debt to the Attributes of God
Allistair Begg

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Romans 8:12

As God's creatures, we are all debtors to Him: to obey Him with all our body and soul and strength. Having broken His commandments, as we all have, we are debtors to His justice, and we owe to Him a vast amount that we are not able to pay.

But of the Christian it can be said that he does not owe God's justice anything, for Christ has paid the debt His people owed; for this reason the believer is in debt to love. I am a debtor to God's grace and forgiving mercy; but I am no debtor to His justice, for He will never accuse me of a debt already paid. Christ said, "It is finished!" and by that He meant that whatever His people owed was wiped away forever from the book of remembrance. Christ has completely satisfied divine justice; the account is settled; the handwriting is nailed to the cross; the receipt is given, and we are no longer in debt to God's justice. But then it follows that since we are not debtors to our Lord in that sense, we become ten times more debtors to God than we should have been otherwise. Christian, pause and consider for a moment.

You are as deep in debt as you can be to every attribute of God. To God you owe yourself and all you have: Offer yourself as a living sacrifice; it is but your reasonable service.

A Debtor to Mercy Alone
Words by Augustus Toplady

A debtor to mercy alone,
Of covenant mercy I sing,
Nor fear, with God's righteousness on,
My person and off'rings to bring.
The terrors of law and of God
With me can have nothing to do;
My Savior's obedience and blood
Hide all my transgressions from view.

The work which His goodness began,
The arm of His strength will complete;
His promise is Yea and Amen,
And never was forfeited yet.
Things future, nor things that are now,
Not all things below or above,
Can make Him His purpose forego,
Or sever my soul from His love.

My name from the palms of His hands
Eternity will not erase;
Imprest on His heart, it remains
In marks of indelible grace.
Yes! I to the end shall endure,
As sure as the earnest is giv'n;
More happy, but not more secure,
When all earthly ties have been riv'n.

Hello, Pat!  I enjoyed that devotional, but have a question.  What does he mean by "his disinterested love?"  It just doesn't seem to 'fit' and I am wondering about that.  Is the Lord ever disinterested in anything about His children?  That really caught my eye!

We are about ready to go to the gym.  Darrel is going today again, will take it easy, of course.  We see a new cardiologist on Thursday.

Mary didn't show up.   :(  I do wish she wouldn't tell me she's coming, and not come, or at least she could call and say she isn't coming!

Hi everyone.  It is a cloudy morning but they say little possibility of rain today.  When I came to my office this morning I found my computer out of order.  I have a backup hard disk that I will put in my computer later but the data is two years old so think I will just do a complete reinstall.  I don't think I will have lost much of importance as save most of my files on the cloud. I have my usual Monday activities plus Pat has her pre-op physical this morning.  She didn't sleep well last night.

Janet, glad you enjoyed the work at the home but sounds like you paid a price.  I enjoyed the actual game last night but thought the half-time show was a mess as couldn't understand a thing that the singer said.  It was quite a light show and then they had to stop the game due to a power outage in the stadium.  At least not all the light went out.  Our church for several years has taken a Souper Bowl collection after the services to go to our local food bank.

Jeanne, the sports world never takes a break.  Football continues into basketball season, which pretty much continues into the baseball season.  Thanks for filling in the gap in my knowledge of the ice and snow remover product.  The only commerical I really liked was the M&M's one although the clydesdale one was nice.  However, must admit I didn't pay much attention to the ads.  Great story about Dr. Tillotson.

Judy, hope you don't need to redo your test.  Heres hoping you soon get a high speed internet connection.

Jane, thanks for keeping us updated on Faye's writings.

Hi RuthV.

Pat, thanks for the devotional.

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/when-i-survey-the-wondrous-cross.mid)
(Click to hear music)

May I never boast except
in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 6:14

Words: Isaac Watts, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, 1707. Charles Wesley reportedly said he would give up all his other hymns to have written this one.
Music: "Hamburg," Lowell Mason, 1824; first appeared in The Boston Handel and Haydn Society Collection of Church Music, third edition, 1825

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o'er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Thanks, Pat, for the devotion.  Did I miss the 'go to the next Thoughts' post?  I had to come here manually.

And thanks for Dr. Tillotson's story.  I, too, would love to visit with him.

I found out that Rose's visitation isn't until Wednesday and funeral is Thursday at their church.  I wonder why so long of a wait.

Today Kitty and I are going to Hobby Lobby.  I have a few things to get and Kitty always has painting supplies to purchase.  She asked me to lunch with her and Bob but I declined.  I will try to be there by around 12:30.

Thanks for the comments on the story of Dr. Tillotson.  They are very nice people, the kind you like having as friends/neighbors/community members.

We have had our workout and are back home.  I need to do some cleaning around here, then have another dental appointment at 2:45.

Larry, there were a couple of those commercials, especially the kissing one, that I found just disgusting.  I have no idea what they were advertising.  I must admit, I was reading on my Kindle Fire and not watching closely, though.  I was rather pleased that the Raven won, even after losing their momentum after the problem with the stadium lights.  I went by the church for a few minutes early in the game, and made a plate to take to Beth.  She was in the dining room when I walked in, saw the plate and her eyes got big and she said, "Oh, boy!"  So that was worth the trip to town, to make her happy!

I would rather like to see the Bud commercials.  Maybe I can Google them.

Etta Sue, what a  cute white Teddy Bear you posted!

I like to shop at Hobby Lobby, they are a Christian company and deserve our support.  They are fighting the Obamacare requirement for them to provide contraception meds for their employees.  Not right to be forced to do what goes against their conscience.  But then, what IS right about Obamacare?  I received an email from someone the other day, a comic piece where Obama is talking to an really elderly woman saying to the effect of "Sorry, you cannot have a hip replacement but you are eligible for free contraception."  What a joke!  More truth than fiction to his comments though.

Janet, I got my KindleFire out and ready to do a little "research" now....haha.  My little brain thinks any effort to understand what I am doing is research.  E-mail coming in a little while.

Hello to everyone.  Pat, thank you for the devotional today.  A good one!
Adios,  ~Janice

Interesting that during the Super Bowl, I saw several players - some with scriptures tatooed and one at least giving the sign of the cross.  On both teams.

We just watched a video of our grandson giving his senior speech.  It was so honest and refreshing that it brings tears to our eyes.  He had a time adjusting and had demerits or whatever the first year and half and was almost asked to leave school when he took an entire day to think about things and turned himself completly around.  He knew his parents and us prayed daily for him.  The mates really cheered after his speech.  It was so inspiring.

I have been trying to find an inexpensive dress - never have seen so many trashy dresses so I may have to wear the one bought years ago.  A nightmare.  I could sew my own dress but just detest even thinking about it - too much work.

Etta Sue:  It sounds like your friend's Homecoming is a blessing in pain relief.

This was my devotional for today.  So many I hear questioning God becaue of the number of ungodly leaders so many countries have  I hope you find this as interesting as I did.

How can God be in charge when some rulers are such tyrants?

The king's heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he turns it wherever he pleases.

Proverbs 21:1 NLT

God's authority

God rules his creation. Nothing is outside his authority — not even the leaders of the nations and kingdoms of this world. No person is placed in a position of power outside of God's will. This can be a great comfort when we see leaders take over in various places, especially leaders with whom we do not agree.

So what does this mean for the cruel tyrants of the world? It means that they too are under God's authority. Satan may author their evil acts, but their wrongdoing can only occur within the boundaries God sets. Why those boundaries are where they are for some nations is a question only God can answer. But we can rest assured that no power is in authority outside of God's plan. God always accomplishes his will, even through the most wicked leaders. God is always the final authority.

WISE WAYS  How will you pray today for the leaders of your country, as well as for leaders around the world?

Today, Lord, may I trust that you are the sovereign authority over all that happens in my nation. May I trust you, even as I work on your behalf.

A leader has two important characteristics: first, he knows where he is going; second, he is able to persuade other people to go with him.
AUTHOR UNKNOWN

A real leader faces the music when he doesn't like the tune.

No One Cared For Me Like Jesus (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/nocfmlj.mid)
(Click to hear music)

I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus
Since I found in Him a friend so strong and true;
I would tell you how He changed my life completely -
He did something that no other friend could do.

chorus:
No one ever cared for me like Jesus;
There's no other friend so kind as He;
No one else could take the sin and darkness from me -
O how much He cared for me!

All my life was full of sin when Jesus found me;
All my heart was full of misery and woe;
Jesus placed His strong and loving arms around me,
And He led me in the way I ought to go.

Every day He comes to me with new assurance,
More and more I understand His words of love;
But I'll never know just why He came to save me,
Till some day I see His blessed face above.

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast day here in Georgia but not too cold.  I got up fairly early this morning and tore into my desktop computer to change out the hard drive.  I finally figured out how to remove the old hard drive (it was simple once I got the right combination) and put in the replacement drive and powered it up.  Unfortunately, it didn't work either.  I called my friend, Rod, who is very knowledgeable about computers and he is going to bring over a tester later this morning to be sure the power supply is working as he said that could be the problem.  So I will stay home today and not attend my meeting.  Pat thought maybe I should get a new computer but think this one can be fixed.  I don't think I will probably replace the desktop as no longer do much on it that couldn't be done on a laptop.  However, that is down the road.

Janet, is Dr. Tillotson and his wife in the care home?  I agree with you on that kissing commercial.  Glad Beth enjoyed the plate of food you took to her.  I know that the food in care homes, gets very boring.  I think the same is true when we eat in the same place over and over.

Janice, I also saw that cartoon about the hip replacement not being available under Obamacare but offering free contraception.

Carol, nice that you could see your grandson's senior speech and it sounds like he is a very fine young man who can think for himself.

Gord, do hope your new granddaughter continues to gain weight and that the cough soon goes away.

Judy, it is sometimes hard to accept that God has directed the way some of the world leaders take their countries but I do believe that it is all a part of God's plan for the world.    Thanks for sharing that piece.

Good morning, friends,

I, too, missed the link to this discussion. It certainly is good to read all your posts.

Today I'll be ambarking on a project that will keep me busy for a number of days - making something with chicken scratch embroidery. It looks like lace when finished, but does take some time.

Y'all have a wonderful day with our Lord - and keep those postings coming. ;)

Love,
Ruth Ann

Ruth Ann, what is Chicken Scratch embroidery?  I had not ever heard of that, is it done on a sewing machine?  I am guessing it is done on a foundation that can be torn away, because of the lace effect you described.  I would love to see some of that!

Judy, thank you for the song, "No one ever cared for me like Jesus".  My grdtr Sara sang that song at Earl's 95 year old sister's funeral awhile back.  We told her to choose a song that she liked.
Thank you also for the devotional about God's Authority....how true that is.

Larry, I want to thank you for your posts, you always remember everyone and comment on their posts.  I am guilty of going blank when I post, for I have forgotten most of what I read.  I don't mean to leave anyone out, but I just forget.  So thank you, for your insight on all subjects.

My daughter retired (early out) from her job at Social Security (SSI section) at the end of the fiscal year.  She now has a part time job as assistant to our Director of Missions for the eastern side of NM, for our state Baptist Convention.  She is so much better off, her SS work was so stressful it was just ruining her health.  I can tell so much difference in her health and outlook on life now.

My grdtr Patty and hubby and son will be here this week, for a final visit before leaving for Korea next week. They have to be in Seattle by the 13th. They are to take one car to Dallas to have it shipped, and bring their other car here to leave with her mom, my daughter.  Then rent a car to go back to El Paso. They will have at least a 2 year assignment in Korea, possibly 3 years.  Good grief!  I may not ever see them again this side of heaven...I am 80 and surprised to reach this age!  My mom didn't.

Everyone have a great day.
Blessings,  ~Janice

The conflict in Syria continues to escalate.  Are we on the brink of world war three?

Still waiting for Mary to show up.  Last night after I was in bed, she called to say she was about five miles from Guymon, would go spend the night with her mother and come here today.  We shall see.......

Janice, thanks for the help with the Kindle!  I am gradually figuring out some things, but get so frustrated when I can't get anything on the screen except what I last had, turn off and back on, same thing. Yikes.  Kids now won't have these problems, my 2 year old great granddaughter can use her little iPad with no problems already!   :-[

I worked out this morning, Darrel had a chiropractor visit.  If Mary gets here in time, she said she wants to take us to lunch.  I really dislike not being able to depend on what she says.

Does the part in the devotional about God's "disinterested love" not bother anyone but me?  Hey, Al--what do YOU think?  I just do not understand it.

I must go, need to shower before lunch time.

Kitty and I did get to Hobby Lobby.  She gave me 2 small skeins and a Pound Cone of Sugar and Cream cotton yarn.  I will make necklaces with the small skeins but use the cone for dish clothes!  Good Florida projects while they watch things on TV that I don't care for!!  At Hobby Lobby I got two more small skeins of cotton and three skeins of Yarn Bee Chrysalis.  It is the same as Premier Starbella (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TbeTLuVKFE) If you click on that you will see a YouTube on how to use this yarn and make a Ruffled Scarf.  I finished a Chenille scarf last night and started one of there ruffled scarves.

Today I went to the pool and then to a Mexican place for lunch.  Then to Walmart.  I found a couple of gowns to wear in Florida...then went to where card table and chairs were.  I found a 5-piece set but no way could I put it in a cart and no where was a clerk!  Finally I saw two clerks walking together so I told them my dilemma.  That called Mark to bring a dolly.  He followed me to check out and took this big box to the car and put it in my truck!

Then my car turned right into a Nails place.   ;)  I have never had my nails done....never..ever!  My nails look terrible.  They are soft, break easy and the thumb nails have splits, ridges vertical and horizontal and even dips.  Most of my nails are spoon nails.  So now I have the prettiest nails that I have had since I was in high school!!  But I have already bummed up my index finger on my right hand... :'(

Then home.  I got the big box of table and chairs out of the trunk and then walked it and turned it end for end to get it into the house. I gathered the trash since this is trash day and unpacked my table and chairs.  Now it can all go out tonight with the trash!!

Now it is computer time.  The sun is trying...really it is...but not quite making it!  It is still below freezing.  Someone at church Sunday said the normal at this time of year is 37°.  Not this year.

Oh, yes!  And I got a call while getting my nails done from the heat pump people.  The parts they ordered came in so they are to work in the heat pump in the morning...$$$$.  It will be costly but hopefully, it will keep this house warm during the day.

JudyB:  I just finished changing your new email address.  Thanks for the message.

I did go to the knitting group and of course, made a mistake while chatting.  I can't talk and knit at the same time.  Meeting some very nice gals, and one is at our new church.

We always like the Budweiser commercials especially since we lived in Fort Collins and could visit the Clydesdale horses and colts plus Dotty the Dalmation.  If you ever have a chance, go to the free tours at least and it is spanking clean and just the nicest place.  You don't have to have any beer - yuk.  :)  They brought out a horse and you should have seen Dotty perk up and she had to go over to nuzzle the huge horse, it was so sweet.

Cleaning everything today.  A cousin & husband are coming for lunch tomorrow so I plan on making lemon cupcakes from fresh lemons here and a soup and Thursday the pastor is coming so he will have a chicken fiesta salad, cornbread and lemon cupcakes.  Friday, we plan to go to an art fair with friends a few miles away.   Hopeful that the rain will stay off until that afternoon.

Janet:  Sorry about the no-show.  Nice that Beth is feeling good and ready for that good food from church.

Etta Sue:  Great that they are to work on heat for your house.

Lindsay Vonn - a great skier was injured today.  We hope that she makes it back to compete in the Olympics.  She is a good friend of Tim Tebow.  (That is all my local news from home).

"His disinterested love" I think it's a poor choice  of  words.  God is not "disintested, but the meaning is that He  doesn't receive personal gain  from it.

Hi, friends,

It was not a stressful day, but a day filled with activities and phone calls.

I'll be praying for one stressed out and ready to give up couple I know. I pray for each of them, for the family, and for the couple as a couple.

Well, it will be a restful day tomorrow. I'll be calling the doctor for fresh prescription for my strips for the new blood sugar monitor. Also, putting away things bought at WalMart today. Then doing a bit of research on the computer - what a nice day for which to prepare.

Y'all have a wonderful day - I agree, I can't remember to respond to each message like Larry, but it's so interesting to follow the conversation as it evolves.

May our Lord grant each of us a blessing today, and then may we rest in His peace as we prepare for the evening of rest.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  I wanted to post early this morning as it is going to be a busy day.  After coffee I will go to Bible study (Pat is not going today) and then have ROMEO's men's luncheon at 1 pm at Golden Corral.  I also need to stop at Kaiser to pick up a prescription for Pat that she left there on Monday.  We are suppose to get up to 65 degrees today-very nice for early February.  My friend and I determined yesterday that my desktop has bitten the dust as the motherboard is gone.  It is not worth replacing it so now have to decide what to do, either get another laptop for use in my office or another desktop.  I am thinking I won't do either at this time since when my SIL is here for 2 1/2 weeks I won't be using my office since it will be her room.  I could just continue to use my laptop but don't want to get into a habit of sitting in this chair all day long in front of the TV so want to continue using my office in the morning.

Ruth Ann, I never heard of chicken scratch embroidery.  I sure it will be beautiful when finished.

Janice, I see you had the same question on the embroidery.  Glad I am not the only one who didn't know.  :)  Please don't worry about not commenting to each poster.  There are some days I don't do much of that either.  I do appreciate your thank you note.  Sure glad your daughter was able to retire from Social Security.  Having been a federal employee in a very stressful job I can relate and have never missed the work, only the people. It sounds like she has a lovely job now.  Many years ago Pat worked at the Synod of Mid-america in Kansas City and I think she enjoyed the work as wasn't a stressful situation. Hope you will be able to see your granddaughter on her return from Korea.  Don't forget you can maintain face-to-face contact with her over the Internet via Skype or Facetime with an iPad or iPod Touch.

Janet, just remember that the menus are at the top of the screen if you want to navigate to something else.  However, the big icons make it much easier to find things in most instances.  It is a shame that your friend is not more dependable but we have no control over other people.

Judy, so happy for you finally getting a high speed Internet connection.  This will open up a whole new world for you.

Etta Sue, I don't have a clue on the yarn but really don't need to know more than what you have said since I will never be a knitter. :)  Glad you are happy with her nails.  Maybe they can repair the one that was banged up.  You certainly had a busy day yesterday.

Carol, nice you have a knitting group to attend.  I have seen the Clydesdale horses a couple of times and they are huge but beautiful animals.

Hi Marilyn.  Is this a workday for you?

Al, thanks for the explanation of "His disinterested love" as I had no clue.

Well, Mary still hasn't shown her face around here!  She called last night to my cell, but I was in my recliner with a lot of stuff on my lap, and by the time I got over to the table where my phone was, she hung up!  And then turned her phone off immediately!  I have left her at least five messages, no return call as yet.  >:(  We do have other plans, cannot wait around on her for a whole week!  Sorry, TMI  :-[

Larry, I forgot to answer your question about the Tillotsons.  No, they are not in the care home.  I did everyone there and in Assisted living whose permission I had, now am branching out into the community, because people are really enjoying the stories and want me to continue writing them.  Thanks for asking.

Time to go work out, so I need to get my gym clothes on!  See you later!

I have two ruffled scarves done now.  The new skeins go fast!

Janet, that was hit by Jan's car, called last evening.  She is having surgery on her shoulder today as I am typing.  She said shoulder replacement.  Didn't know they did that.  And they won't be going to Florida unless the doctor says she can do rehab on her own instead of at a facility.

The heat pump guy is on his way!

Ivalou needs a perm and I need a haircut before going to Florida.  We are trying to find time and a place for that since our beautician is not doing hair because she had rotator cuff surgery like Ivalou.  There is a beauty college in Noblesville and we think we will go there next Wednesday!

Today is the visitation for Rose and tonight is Wednesday Night Live.

Ivalou needs to go to CVS and we need to take our papers to get our taxes done.

Even for me, I am busy this week!!  And it looks like next week will be the same!

Welcome, Delightful Morn  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/welcome-delightful-morn.mid)
(Click to hear music)

"Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God." Exodus 20:10

Words: "Hayward," John Dobell's A New Selection, 1806

Music: "Das Lieben Bringt Groß Freud," Friedrich Silcher, 1827, from a Swabian folk tune; arranged by Lowell Mason in his Carmina Sacra, second edition, 1841

Welcome, delightful morn,
Thou day of sacred rest!
I hail thy kind return;
Lord, make these moments blest;
From the low train of mortal toys,
I soar to reach immortal joys,
I soar to reach immortal joys.

Now may the King descend,
And fill His throne with grace;
Thy scepter, Lord, extend,
While saints address Thy face:
Let sinners feel Thy quickening Word,
And learn to know and fear the Lord,
And learn to know and fear the Lord.

Descend, celestial Dove,
With all Thy quickening powers;
Disclose a Savior's love,
And bless the sacred hours:
Then shall my soul new life obtain,
Nor Sabbaths be enjoyed in vain,
Nor Sabbaths be enjoyed in vain.

Patty and Richard (and of course my GrGrSon Sidney) arrived last evening to my dtr's house, just down the street from me.
They will be here a few days.

Elaine came by my house last night to ask about parking a car or two at my house.  Also she told me that Richard got a jury duty notice in her mail box yesterday!  How ironic, he is on his way to Korea and gets a jury notice!  Of course he will be excused.  They have been keeping Elaine's address on their car titles, etc. and New Mexico uses that registration list to select juries.

Yes, Larry, we intend to use Skype but someone will have to show me how to use it again.  I signed up for it several years ago and only used it once.  I think my KindleFire has a camera for that purpose.  Patty once sent me the sweetest picture that she had made of Sidney on Skype with his dad in Kuwait, giving each other a high five!

Janet, your friend Mary sounds like someone I know.  She was so bad about saying she was coming, and then did not, that I finally told her that was rude and to stop making promises she didn't intend to keep.  I do not usually tell people off, in fact almost never.  But after awhile you get fed up.

I wondered about the "disinterested love" also, and figured it must have been in a certain context and I am no Bible scholar for sure.
There is another question I have though.  About the judgment for Christians.  Some say that is all about the rewards and some say we have to answer for our sins there.....what about the scriptures that say when we confess, our sins are forgotten and gone as far as the east is from the west.  I tend to believe our judgment will be about the rewards.  Any comments from anyone?

bye now, ~Janice

Great and thoughtful question, Janice.

I tell the devil to stop filling my head with thoughts of having to deal with my sins after  death because
I, too, believe strongly that our sins have been forgiven or the death on the cross is in vain.

Please , dear Al, or anyone else let us know what you feel..

Janice, there are two judgements:  The Great White Throne judgement and the Bema Seat judgement.  At the Great White Throne, those who failed to accept Jesus as their Savior will be judged and have to account for everything, even every word spoken in this life, and receive punishment for that (being cast into outer darkness forever!)

But at the Bema Seat, Christians are judged to determine what rewards they are to receive.  What a relief to know we don't have to listen to the awful list of all our sins read out in front of a multitude of people!  Whew!

I am still not comfortable with the "disinterested love" quote....sorry, Al.  Can you clarify that any more?

Well.....Mary called again a bit ago, said she is "on her way" here from Guymon now.  If so, she will be here within the hour.  I was just about ready to do exactly what Janice had to do!  Frustrating!

Etta Sue, I love those scarves, but am not a knitter nor a crocheter.  :(  Have fun in Florida!

"What a debtor you are to divine sovereignty! How much you owe to His disinterested love, for He gave His own Son that He might die for you."  I cannot tell with any assurance the meaning of this phrase as used here.  I can only surmise that it is intended as a reference to the kind of love God gives to even unsaved people - keeping them alive, providing them rain, etc.
Title: Re: Thoughts for the Week~Feb. 3

Could it be referring to the mention of being a debtor?  Possibly meaning God's love is not a loan that needs to be repaid with interest added on?

Hi everyone,  It is a rainy but not too cold morning here in Georgia.  I understand this front going through our area is part of the one headed to the NE that may bring the bad blizzard conditions.  I will take the rain any  day.  I just got back from shopping Walmart.  I decided to use the push cart this morning, not a wise decision, as am really dragging around and will have to rest here in my easy chair to recover some strength.  I looked at their desktop computers, which I have decided is what I will get, but didn't see any that I wanted so will shop around some more.  I saw the first daffodils blooming this morning and yesterday noticed we have three flowering trees across the road from us that have bloomed out.  I think it is a little early but it has been warm a lot of the time including the 67 we had yesterday.

Janet, I can't imagine being so inconsiderate as Mary has been to you.  I would never tell someone I was going to do something and not do it unless there was a serious reason not to and then would immediately notify the other person.  Nice you are featuring other people in your community for your articles.  We each have a story to tell.

Etta Sue, I would think Janet could easily find a physical therapy place in Florida.  Guess they can replace most joints and heard the other day about replacing knuckles.  It sounds like you have some busy days planned before you leave for Florida.

Janice, enjoy your time with Patty and Richard and Sidney.  To me there is something extra special about great grandchildren, perhaps that I lived long enough to see them.  I am doubtful that I will ever see my four great grandchildren again as they live in upstate NY.  We do feel blessed that their father, who is separated from our granddaughter, still is in contact with us and sends of pictures of them.  We got some Valentine cards to send to them and the great granddaughter has a birthday in a few days.  Glad to hear you will be using Skype and you shouldn't have any trouble using it.

Joyce, good to see you posting.

Marilyn, a belated Happy Birthday greeting.  Yesterday was my sister's 69th birthday.  You are a year older than I am.  I have to admit I felt my age this morning trying to shop.  Hope you enjoyed a nice dinner.

Happy Anniversary Judy and John.

Al, is your son now living with you?

Jeanne, interesting thought.  Are you ready for the snow?

We Are His Hands  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/we-are-his-hands.mp3)
(Click to hear music and sing along with the White Heart band-You may need to increase the volume of your speakers)

Words and Music: White Heart

White Heart formed in 1982 with most of its members coming from Bill Gaither's group.  White Heart was a Contemporary Christian Music pop-rock band which formed in 1982. White Heart's discography includes thirteen albums, the most recent of which was released in 1997. Original members Billy Smiley and Mark Gersmehl worked with a continually-changing cast of band-mates. In 1985, former roadie Rick Florian became the lead singer.

Although White Heart has not officially "retired" as a band, remaining members Smiley, Gersmehl and Florian are each pursuing other interests. Smiley started his own label, Cul-de-Sac Records. Gersmehl continues to write music and has released solo efforts. Florian is a real estate agent in the Franklin, Tennessee area and also continues to sing for various recording projects.

We are His hands
We are His feet
We are His people
Children of the Lord
We share the hope
We share the dream
Believers in Jesus
Children of the King

His Spirit lives within us
Flowing like a river
Filling us with strength
So that we can reach out for our brother
Help one another

We are His hands
We are His feet
We are His people
Children of the Lord
We share the hope
We share the dream
Believers in Jesus
Children of the King

Some of us build, some are teachers
Some can sing like angels
But all of us can love
Like He loved, pure and simple
So warm and gentle

We are His hands
We are His feet
We are His people
Children of the Lord
We share the hope
We share the dream
Believers in Jesus
Children of the King

On my way home from the Rose's visitation last evening, I decided I wasn't going to go to the funeral today.  Main reason, that would be 100 miles driving and just didn't think that was necessary.

So I called Ivalou last night and asked her to go to Woody's for lunch.  We did and then took her to CVS for her to get her meds and the bank for money and to Dollar General for some items that we both needed.  That took us over 2 hours!

I am feeling overwhelmed with having Euchre here at my house the 19th and leaving for Florida the 20th but I can do it and will do it!  Like I say, next week is a busy week so I am going to start cleaning tomorrow.  Not deep cleaning...just a lick and a promise as Mom would say!

I finished a white ruffled scarf last night and also made a necklace but I joined the rounds wrong.  But I found a couple of crocheted flower patterns so will try to make one this evening to cover up my ugly joining on the necklace!!

I also brought in my TomTom GPS and have updated it to use in driving to Florida.  And making a list of items that I don't want to forget to take to Florida.

I will be ready for Euchre and for Florida!!

Oh, yes!  The heat pump is fixed and it was $250 cheaper than what was quoted!!  That will help pay for the propane gas I have had to use!

Marilyn:  Happy Birthday - I hope you enjoyed your dinner out.
Judy B:  Congratulations on you wedding anniversary.  You were brave to choose February  for a wedding.

Larry:  They have the worst carts and every once in a while, I tell them that their carts do not roll very well - sorry you had such an ordeal.  Just going in the store can be tiring.

Janet:  That is strange - maybe she is losing her memory?

Etta Sue:  Enjoy planning for your trip to Florida.  You can do it!  Just fix something that you can freeze if there are leftovers and that is one thing out of the way.

Our new to us pastor came for lunch and stayed for two hour visit.  We had such a nice time.  He had to leave for a funeral for a neighbor's 19 year old daughter who died from the flu.  Those poor people.  After he left, we took a long walk and I have dishes all washed & now washing clothes a little late in the day.  A cousin & husband came yesterday and she wanted to go out for pizza special -   Tomorrow, we will pick up friends and they have tickets to an art show.

Mary did arrive yesterday, and she had been having phone problems.  It was really stressful waiting for her, but she's such a fun, energetic and loving person I couldn't stay mad at her if I tried!  She is "out pitching" today.  That's what she calls it.  She is a salesperson par excellence!  She had a huge box of scarves plus boxes and boxes of perfumes to sell.  We will see tonight how she did.

At the gym this morning, I think I must have done one of the exercises wrong and pulled muscles in my lower back.  It hurts!  So I went back by and Kristi showed me stretches to do to correct it.  and she added, "Drink water, drink water, drink water!"  So I am.  :)

We are going to a Sons of Thunder meeting tonight.  This is the rare meeting when they invite their wives!  They serve a nice meal and have an inspirational speaker.  This will be Darrel's first meeting, but I hope he will continue to go after this.

Time to get ready!

Hi everyone.  I woke up about 4 am and haven't been able to go back to sleep.  So I got up a little before 6:30.  I have a number of things I hope to accomplish today but will have to pace myself better than yesterday as really wore myself out.  I do feel rested this morning.  Several of the items will require only a few minutes and are not demanding, such as getting my car inspected where I just stay in the car.  The rain stopped during the night and has moved on to the NE to join that Arctic air for the big snow and wind event expected.

Etta Sue, you showed your respect for Rose by attending the visitation and that would be a long drive.  It sounds like you are getting the preliminary work for your trip well organized.  Glad the heat pump bill was less and not more than quoted.  That must have been a pleasant surprise.

Carol, so far I have found the carts to be satisfactory although one of them ran down just as I was taking it into the store to return it.  Nice that you could have some private time with the pastor of your church.

Janet, glad that your expected guest finally arrived and that you had a good time with her.  Hope your back is OK this morning and not too sore.  I have never heard of Sons of Thunder before that I can recall.  What is it?

Hi to all who stop by later today.

Good morning!  It's snowing just as was predicted.  Supposed to ease off for a while this afternoon and then really heavy over night.  But I have plenty in the freezer and in the pantry and I'm warm and dry, so I'm all set until the Lord sends my neighbor to shovel me out (or sends warm temperatures and rain to melt everything).   :thumbsup:

it is a cold snowy day here in the north.  There hasn't been a lot of snow however it is still coming down. We have enough wood we are hoping for the end of the month and into March. We may have to go into the bush to get more if this cold continues.  Neither of us are looking forward to that.

I am still concerned about Heather.  The Doctor told her to take a week off due to the concussion.  Unfortunately she cannot afford to do that with the,school work load also she will loose her school funding.  We were chatting on line yesterday, she had found a quieter place to sit and her head was throbbing.  there wasn't any dizziness though.  I know this can take time to heal and having to continue the workload she is carrying is slowing the healing, however she has the determination to continue.  I was joking with her that she needs to wear a hockey helmet to protect herself........she doesn't want to look stupid! LOL

Time to sing!

The Banner of the Cross  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/the-banner-of-the-cross.mid)
(Click to hear music)

"For those who fear You, You have raised a banner." Psalm 60:4

Words: Daniel W. Whittle, in The Gospel Choir, by Ira Sankey and James McGranahan (New York: Biglow & Main, 1885).
Music: James McGranahan

There's a royal banner given for display
To the soldiers of the King;
As an ensign fair we lift it up today,
While as ransomed ones we sing.

Refrain

Marching on, marching on,
For Christ count everything but loss!
And to crown Him King, we'll toil and sing,
'Neath the banner of the cross!

Though the foe may rage and gather as the flood,
Let the standard be displayed;
And beneath its folds, as soldiers of the Lord,
For the truth be not dismayed!

Refrain

Over land and sea, wherever man may dwell,
Make the glorious tidings known;
Of the crimson banner now the story tell,
While the Lord shall claim His own!

Refrain

When the glory dawns—'tis drawing very near,
It is hastening day by day—
Then before our King the foe shall disappear,
And the cross the world shall sway!

Refrain

Janice, I'm not in the area that is considered under a blizzard warning.  We're not expecting anything that severe this far north, and if the power does go out it will likely be a fairly isolated area, not widespread, and fairly quickly restored.  But don't stop praying that it doesn't go out!  The house would still get pretty cold.   :D

Hi, friends, just a word to say "hello" to all of you. It's time to leave to help someone with some cooking this afternoon and also to the bank, then I'll be glad to be inside my warm apartment this evening. :)

Happy anniversary and happy birthday greetings to Judy, John, and Marilyn. Y'all have begun this new year with happiness and love, and I pray God will add His good blessings of good health, happiness, hope, and the opportunity for a much closer relationship with Him as the days go on.

Janet, the stories are so good. I really enjoy hearing them.

Larry, if it were not for the electric shopping carts, I don't know what I'd do. Back in 2000 the neurologist told me to use them because of a condition wherein muscles and nerves in my legs have no communication.

Well, y'all have a wonderful day with our Lord.

Do you see the time that I posted this?  Why so late, you say?  Well, I knew if I got on the computer first I wouldn't get my house cleaned.  I moved furniture, dusted, swept, spot cleaned carpet, extended the dining room table, put things in their place, moved things around in the utility room, fixed bacon and eggs for lunch and now looking at the mailbox and wishing the mail would appear in the house instead of me walking out and getting it!

And I am pooped!  I think I could fall asleep on the spot!

But now for Euchre, I only have to set up the card tables and chairs, clean the bathroom, and make sure my part of the meal is ready to serve.  I see a light at the end of the tunnel.  I know Euchre is still 11 days away but I will only have to sweep with my battery operated sweeper and dust what looks dusty!  I will need to put things up in the kitchen...I tend to leave things out if I think I am going to use it again in the next few days!!  I am tired but it a 'feel good' tired!

Etta Sue.  So that's the secret.  Maybe if I had Euchre here, I would clean my house?

I do need to get busy I guess.  Granddaughter will have to do most of it as it's mostly hers!  She's used my upstairs unused bedroom for storage, but now I have a grandson (12) who will be moving in that room in March.  I couldn't do it alone, but his dad will also be here and I will be grandma only. :)  I wouldn't want the responsibility of being in charge of a 12 year old...boy or girl.  :D

I've been watching the news about the big storm coming for the east coast.  The warnings are dire, but I'm sure hoping and praying every one will be safe.

I also watched a thing on the news re our "big one" (earthquake) that is coming one of these days.  The prediction was that here on the coast, we could potentially be without electricity for 6 months.  I've tried to think of how I would cope.  My cooking, my heat, are both electric.  About now, a wood stove sounds like a great thing!

I always end my pondering with a prayer and my immense gratitude that I belong to the One who is in charge of everything everywhere.  When it is my time, I will go be with the Lord.

Nita, I sure wouldn't want to have the responsibility for a 12 year old boy - especially these days.  But it sounds like things will be under control, having his father there as well.

Larry, the Sons of Thunder is an organization of men who like to get together to praise and sing to the Lord, pray for each other and have inspirational speakers.  They also have a nice meal before the meetings begin.  They organized this in (I think they said) August of last year, and it is already seeing an average of 200 men attending each month.  They took the name from what Jesus called James and John--the Sons of Thunder.

The meeting last night was really nice, but a little too long.  It was sweet of the men to invite their wives, so we better understand what it is the guys do.

Darrel and I spent the day in Garden City today.  His Dr. App't. was at 10, but the doc got called out to the hospital, so we sat there until after eleven, then were told to come back at 1.  They were pretty prompt at that time, and we like the new doctor.  He sat down and explained things to us that we needed to know.  So we think we will be happy for making the switch. Darrel can get labs done here and return in 8 weeks time.  We also had shopping to do for stuff not available here in our small town.

Mary is busily painting on my jungle wall.  So far, she has added three Monarch butterflies, three hummingbirds, a parrot, and has a couple of frogs sketched in.  Then she is going to paint some big cats--leopards, most likely.  ;)  I'm just letting her do her thing, as "too many cooks spoil the broth!"  She went out yesterday and sold $1000 worth of perfume, and some scarves.  Today she sold $400 worth of perfume.  Do you know anyone in Barrow, Alaska who needs ice trays?  Mary could sell them to them, needed or not!

Beth wanted us to stop at KFC and bring her a chicken pot pie, so we did.  She was already eating supper when we got there, so she kept it for tomorrow.

Thanks, Larry, yes, my back is better today, but I do need to do the stretches Kristi showed me again, as it is tightening up again after sitting in the car and at the doctor's office, and in the car again.  Did quite a lot of walking in Home Depot and Walmart, or it would likely be worse.

I have decided not to go to my painting meeting tomorrow, and since Mary is here I had a handy excuse not to go.  It's such a long drive to paint a small project, and I had considered not going anyway.  I think I have made the right choice.

See you tomorrow!

Our sins have been judged and born by our Savior.  Thley cannot be born again.  We may know of them, remember them, and thank our dear Savior for bearing what was not His, but we shall not have to answer for them,

Well, we did get quite a bit of snow, but nothing like what New England is bearing.  This morning it measured about 8 inches deep on my front porch, after the wind had been blowing some pretty good gusts which may have affected it.  Tonight is expected to be very, very cold - below zero - but then it looks as though it will be a little milder the rest of the week.  (Notice I said "milder", not "warmer"  ;D )

I have a little miracle to report.  I lost our checkbook and have been searching everywhere 3 or 4 times over - and we were parked at the bank going in to report a loss of about 4 checks in that book.  I had the car door open and was looking under the seat one more last time - saying a special little prayer to Jesus when Don came behind me and spotted the checkbook caught in the passenger side of the seat belt on the bottom.  I can't tell you how it ever got in such a strange place but It was such a relief to finally have it back.  Grateful

We picked up our friends (he just had cataract surgery) and they had tickets to a lovely art show in Scottsdale.  We couldn't afford to buy a post card -  ::) but it was outstanding.

Jeanne Lee:  Hang tight in that cold weather - time is going so fast that it will soon be March.

Janet:  None of us use perfume anymore and I rarely did in the past - just a tiny bit.  Most churches ask that cologne and perfume not be used but I can start sneezing if anyone just has to have their perfume.  Don had to ask his secretary once to cut off her perfume and she was OK with his request.  Good for Mary for being such a good salesperson.  Darrel - I thought it was a Harley group when you said "Thunder".   ;)

JudyB:  Don't you want to put your child in a full hockey uniform?  She must know that Canadians love hockey.  Have a good weekend.

Don made breakfast.  The sky is ominous but it is sunny right now - temperature is dropping but nothing like back east.

Al:  Thinking of you and it is good to hear that your son will be visiting soon.

Nita:
QuoteI always end my pondering with a prayer and my immense gratitude that I belong to the One who is in charge of everything everywhere.  When it is my time, I will go be with the Lord.
Good thoughts!

This Is the Day the Lord Hath Made  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/this-is-the-day-the-lord-hath-made.mid)
(Click to hear music)

This is the day which the Lord hath made.
Psalm 118:24

Words: Isaac Watts, The Psalms of David, 1719

Music: "Arlington," Thomas A. Arne, 1762; arranged by Ralph Harrison, 1784

This is the day the Lord hath made;
He calls the hours His own;
Let heav'n rejoice, let earth be glad,
And praise surround the throne.

Today He rose and left the dead,
And Satan's empire fell;
Today the saints His triumphs spread,
And all His wonders tell.

Hosanna to th'anointed King,
To David?s holy Son;
Help us, O Lord; descend and bring
Salvation from Thy throne.

Blest be the Lord, Who comes to men
With messages of grace;
Who comes in God His Father's Name,
To save our sinful race.

Hosanna in the highest strains
The Church on earth can raise;
The highest heav'ns, in which He reigns,
Shall give Him nobler praise.

Oh, how nice to wake up to a clean house and sunshine!  The phone woke me up.  My SIL saying how glad they were that we were coming down to Florida to see them.  She promised it would be nice, warm weather while we were there!!

Now I want to look online for crocheted flowers.  I want to make a necklace for the 'Lone Bag' for Euchre...it is given to the person who makes the last lone in Euchre.  We never have much expense but everyone seems to like the necklaces that I wear.

And I want to print the tallies for Euchre.  Two projects that will be done for 10 days from now!  Looking ahead!  Feels good.  I don't feel overwhelmed now!

I did hear that Janet is home from her shoulder replacement.  Before surgery I asked her if she thought she might be able to play Euchre with us and she said if she can get here, she will.  Ivalou has a board with a slot in it to hold the 5 cards, someone else can shuffle and deal the cards for Janet.  So she would only have to play with one hand!!

The sunshine looks wonderful out there!!  There are a few puffy clouds and a gentle breeze!  BUT.....but it is only 32°.

Hi everyone.  It is a sunny and nice day but was cold last night.  Yesterday at coffee I was talking about shopping for a new computer and one of my friends said he had one that was only a year old or so that he would give me.  Needless to say I accepted his very kind offer and now have a desktop once again.  I spent all morning loading programs and uninstalling programs he had that would not use.  I also deleted all of his files (he thought he had done so but had not),  I have a few more things to do with it to complete the figuration I want, but there is no rush about doing so.  I will rest after finishing my lunch and then will help Pat wrap up some chicken and other meat that I bought yesterday and we will freeze it.  I also need to dump the ice from the ice maker, which needs to be done about every three weeks and also reset the time on the thermostat when the heat comes on in the morning.  That will be it for today.

Jeanne, do you live very far from Granville, NY?  That is where my great grandchildren are located and I heard from their father this morning that they only had about 2 inches of snow but got yesterday off from school.

Janet, that sounds like an impressive group for a relatively small community.    Glad you all found a new doctor that you like.

Carol, I have never liked most perfumes or men's aftershaves either.

A special good afternoon to all how have posted that I didn't respond to but running late today.

Larry, Granville is not too far from here.  They were a little farther off the "fringe" of the storm than we were.  What we got here is just about the normal type of winter storm, nothing extraordinary.

Larry, good news on the gift of the computer!  God does know our needs and takes good care of His own!  Don't work too hard today, okay?  I am having some problems with this laptop, especially in the email program.  It "sticks" and wont let me do anything when I first turn it on, and I am concerned, as I have stuff on here I surely do not want to lose.  Any ideas?

Jeanne, glad you aren't snowed in with three or four feet of the white stuff!

Carol, good to hear you found the checkbook!  Those things can really stress a person.

When we got home last evening, Mary was painting on our "jungle wall" and after supper she started again.  I went to bed about an hour and a half later than my usual time, she was still painting.  I woke at 5 and she was STILL at it!  I said, "You're pulling an all-nighter, huh?"  And she replied that she had gotten her second wind and wanted to keep going.  I told her I wouldn't wake her today, then!  I think she finally went to bed around 7 this morning, so will likely sleep most of the day!  She made great progress on the wall, though!

The gun and coin show is today, think Darrel and I will  go check that out.  The wind is howling again.  :(   :P  My most 'un=favorite' kind of weather.

Etta Sue, you are all organized now, good for you!  Feels good, doesn't it?  I don't believe I have ever been that organized that far ahead for anything--I could take lessons from you!  ;)

Gotta run, see you later!

Nice kitty!  Mary brought Darrel a dog.  He is a little American Eskimo and really cute.  She will leave him here, then if Darrel doesn't bond with him, the next time she comes she will take him back.

Great photos, and evidences of love in so many of the posts read tonight.

I was with my son for a couple of hours today, and it's great to see how far he's come since he began improving.

Much love to everyone.
