JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

How To Overcome Satan

Ephesians 6:10-17 says...

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Morning Devotional...

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.
Ephesians 3:14-15

Sometimes we say, "What a small world!" But the world is no smaller than it's ever been.

What we really mean is, "What a big family."

Think of it, most of the family of God is already in heaven. The older we get the more people we know there than we do here.

This is the family of God--one big, joyful fellowship in heaven and on earth!

Are you getting to know your family members?

O That Will Be Glory

"We share in His sufferings in order
that we may also share in His glory."
Romans 8:17

Words & Music: Charles H. Gabriel, in Make His Praise Glorious, by Edwin Excell (Chicago, Illinois: 1900)

When all my labors and trials are o'er,
And I am safe on that beautiful shore,
Just to be near the dear Lord I adore,
Will through the ages be glory for me.

Refrain

O that will be glory for me,
Glory for me, glory for me,
When by His grace I shall look on His face,
That will be glory, be glory for me.

When, by the gift of His infinite grace,
I am accorded in heaven a place,
Just to be there and to look on His face,
Will through the ages be glory for me.

Refrain

Friends will be there I have loved long ago;
Joy like a river around me will flow;
Yet just a smile from my Savior, I know,
Will through the ages be glory for me.

Refrain

Hi everyone.  It looks like I get to be the first to post for this new week.  I will be very brief today.  Our weather starting tonight doesn't sound very good in terms of more snow and possibly ice.  It doesn't take much down here to create havoc.  Our son was planning on coming over on Wednesday but that is certainly in doubt at the moment.  Today I will go with two friends back to the apartment and get everything ready for the charity to come and pick it up.  I don't think it should take more than a couple of hours to finish up.

Pat, thank you for preparing our devotional thought for the week.

Jeanne Lee

Wonderful devotional, Pat.  Thanks!

Cold.  That's about all there is to say about today's weather.  Maybe a little "warmer" come Wednesday and Thursday, but also maybe a lot more snow.  Still haven't found that flipper thing for my bread machine so I'm eating only store-bought bread.   :(

Pat, I have thought about that so often--about there being so many in heaven now whom I know.  With the arrival of each one we loved here on earth, heaven becomes even sweeter!  I'm looking forward to going there to reunite with all of them----right after I see Jesus, of course!  (Or in whatever order He wants it.)  I know it will be perfect!

It is cold here, too, with more snow predicted.  We got a tiny bit last night, not enough to measure.

And it's Monday again, which means back to the gym and our usual routine.   I praise God for health and strength to do whatever He directs me to do.

That is a lovely song -

Our good friend Pat left this morning with her little dog.  After years of caregiving and losing her husband just about three months ago, she has turned her total attention to the dog and we do understand why that has happened.  She is doing so well now - much better than we expected so that is good to see.  We will go for a little visit probably next month.

I see more hazardous weather on the weather map.  Here in AZ, the need is for rainfall as there is drought and it would surely clean the air.

Pat

Hi Everyone...

Had a lovely visit with my niece today and we had a  :cup:  cuppa together.

Later in the afternoon, I was soooo tired.  I thought I'd lie down for an hour.  The next thing I knew was waking up and the house in complete darkness but I was fully dressed with only a light blanket on top of me and I wondered why!  :)

I have been taking a muscle relaxant for a severe area of pain and I guess it made me sleepy today.

Hi everyone on a stormy day here in Georgia.  We had rain all night and just now some sleet is mixing in with it.  They are predicting we may have up to 1/2 of ice tomorrow along with snow.  The schools are out today and tomorrow.  Fortunately, the temperatures will stay right around the freezing mark.  Are concern is losing power but we have a kerosene heater so can get some worth.

Two friends went with me yesterday and we finished cleaning out Stacey's apartment.  Now just have to get it scheduled for a charity to pick up what we haven't donated.  Her friend at the apartments wanted a lot of the furniture and kitchen items.  The management at the apartments knew of a elderly lady whose power chair was beyond repair but didn't quality yet for another one and we are giving her the power chair.  We brought a lot of small things out here to sort when we have time and most of it will eventually go to charity.  I will work on notifications to service providers to stop charges today and tomorrow.
Be back tomorrow if we have power.

Jeanne Lee

We have cold.  Oh, boy, do we have cold.  And nobody seems to know whether the next storm will hit north of Albany or stay more to the south.  And my car is still wearing the snow that fell last Thursday.   :(

Pat, I know the "lost" feeling waking up from a nap in the dark.  A month or so ago I dozed off in late afternoon and when I woke up the clock said 4:30.  No lights, pitch dark...  it took me a few minutes to figure out whether it was a.m. or p.m.!   ;D

We got a beautiful snow last evening!  Not a lot, maybe three inches, but it fell so beautifully, big, fluffy flakes with no wind.  I love it!

I spent a full thirty minutes jumping on the rebounder today, so that was another good workout.  I am progressing with my weight loss and am almost down to the weight I was in 2007!  That makes me happy!  :)  Enjoyed a call from my sister Shirley this morning!  :)

I would like to request prayer.  There is a guy in Dodge who publishes quite a big paper every two week, or maybe it's once a month.....anyway it's called Southwest Kansas Faith and Family, and he puts all kinds of encouraging Christian stories in it.  He wants to feature Beth and me and the book in an upcoming issue, but can't get over here to interview us because of the weather.  So he has asked me to write quite a lot about the book and us, and to get a good photo of us, and email it all to him.  I'm okay with the writing (Have already begun) but would appreciate your prayers of agreement that all will be done in a way that glorifies God.  I do have a good camera, so should be able to get a good photo.  I probably have one of us together.........somewhere!  ???   That, plus Larry's review on Amazon should give the book a boost!  )Thank you, Lord!)

Are you watching the Olympics?  I have just seen bits and pieced so far, been busy.

Hi, I'm slipping in the door this evening. Was out and about - got the oil changed, took someone to the doctor, mailed Valentines cards for the kids, etc. So, I've spent some quiet time here in the apartment since midafternoon.

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

Sounds like a lovely afternoon, Ruth Ann...

I've been  sorting some of my yarn--a much needed chore.

Pat:  Muscle relaxers can really make a person drowsy.  You needed the rest.

Janet:  It sounds like a winner to have your book mentioned in the media.  Someone mentioned something like the Rebounder being used for a Parkinson patient - does that sound possible.

Well, we went to a pool party here (this pool is not now heated) and brought our own food & hot tea for me.  It was for the group of Canadians who have bought a huge number of these units - tomorrow night they will discuss the management & what it can afford.  We have been irritated that they fired the manager here - who is so reliable and such a worker.  Why?  Now there is no one on the grounds so they save money but I think that is a mistake.  Met a couple of the Canadians and we talked hockey.   :)  She loved it!  Met a new renter who is from a few miles from where my mother & family are from - a little town in Minnesota.  Small world.

Now I am calling a cousin who has Atrial Fib concerns.

Call me a grouch but I never cared for Halloween or Valentine's Day.

Jeanne Lee

Janet, it seems the Lord is opening another door for the book and your testimony.

Hi everyone.  I wanted to post before we lose power, which we are certainly expecting.  We have had sleet and rain all night and it is now in the high 20's and not to get above freezing all day.  We are to get more ice later today.  Already the trees are getting very icy.  We had power all night and I have brought in our oil lamp and we have several smaller light sources.  I have the new kerosine heater on the closed in porch but didn't bring in the filler tube and now it is too dangerous to try to get back to my shed.  We can probably find another way to fill the heater.  So we will be fine.

Larry Hanna

Janet, wonderful news about the Newspaper article in the works.

Jeanne Lee

Larry, the morning news is full of reports about your area.  Please be careful.  And if you get the kerosene heater going, don't forget about ventilation.
Click for Corinth, New York Forecast" border="0" height="41" width="127

JudyB

Larry don't go for the fuel for the heater.  Do you have any clay flower pots that you can get to?  Smaller is better.  Use a couple of tea light candles and turn the pot upside down over then with something holding it up off the table.  The candles will heat the flower pot and keep a room warm.  I'm sure you will have food that you can eat cold if power does go off.

Praying for you Larry.

Ruth

Good afternoon:   I think all of us are talking about the cold, I sure wish it would warm up but them at this time of year perhaps it will allow for more snow to fall so which is best? I will say that we are having a lot of beautiful sun I sure wish that I could go out walking but that is not possible at the present as I am having too much knee pain, better days are coming.

Pat: Are you finding any surprises in the sorting of your yarn?

Carol: Even muscle relaxers are not working that well nor are a lot of the other pain killers.

Marilyn: what corner are you hidding in?

Larry: My thoughts are will you and your family .

I know this may sound strange, but I am really enjoying re-reading my book!  I hadn't looked at it for some time, need to refresh my mind so I can write the stuff needed for the paper.  And I am praying for a surge in book sales after the article is produced.  Grandson Mark is home for a while, and he will come Friday, bringing his lights and other photographic equipment to take a good photo of Beth and me.  Then he will help me get it onto my computer and emailed to the guy.  Love those grandsons!  <3

Carol, no, I hadn't heard of using a rebounder to help with Parkinson's, but who knows?  It just might help!

Larry, if you do lose power, I hope it won't last long and that you will stay safe and warm until it is back on again.  Judy's hint for warmth is one I hadn't heard; sound good!  You are still in my prayers.

I'm going to a "Junk Gypsy Tea Party"  this afternoon.  I had never even heard of Junk Gypsies, had to look on Pinterest to see what they wear.  No help, as I had none of that stuff.  So I'm wearing Beth's Cave Girl costume John got her (it's too small for her but fits me).  I will look like Betty Rubble from the Flintstones, I think.  Maybe Mark will help me post a photo so you can see me.  It's a birthday party for one of the gals in our scrapbooking group.

Carol, I do NOT do halloween, but I do like Valentine's day.  And I got the cards in the mail for my little great-granddaughters, also one for Abby.

Time to go get rigged out for the party!  Have to make something to eat, which is going to be cut-up fruit, so I can eat something without guilt!

Jeanne Lee

Janet, we'll want to see the picture Mark takes of you and Beth!  You can email it to me when it's ready, if you want, and I'll be glad to post it.

Judy, I never heard of that way of getting some heat but it sounds like a good idea.  Only problem - I don't have any clay pots any more.   :(
Click for Corinth, New York Forecast" border="0" height="41" width="127

Jeanne it may be an idea to get one for that purpose....Never know when you will need it
We loose power regularly so I find all the ideas that I can. LOL

Hi, friends,

Since weather was threatening, I rescheduled my appointments and stayed inside. A fall, if my bad ankle didn't have strength to keep me upright on slippery pavement, would not be a good idea. So, appointments can wait until the weather's better. :)

Tonight I wanted something different for dinner. How 'bout a bag of low fat microwave popcorn? That's all that appealed to me.

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

Hi everyone.  We are among the fortunate in that we never lost power yesterday.  The citizens heeded the warning and requests and stayed off the roads and are asked to do so again today.  The last of the snow in the area is to move out later this morning and it is to get above freezing for awhile today. Over 300,000 people are without power in the State.  Our son was without power for 4 hours yesterday and I don't know about today as the Augusta area was hit harder with ice than we were.

I realized this morning that I had failed to get my car inspected by my birthday and won't be able to do it today.  Or course the Tag offices are closed anyway. Yesterday Pat and I continued to work on going through Stacey's things and making notifications. We will just continue to work on the things that need to be done again today while we are housebound.

Jeanne, fortunately we didn't need to use the kerosene heater.

Judy, I never heard of the tea pot idea. I have copied out your instructions and emailed them to myself and Pat so I could find them again in my email.

Ruth, sorry to read that you are still having a lot of knee pain.  I am ready to see some sun down this way although we really aren't very cold, just below freezing.

Janet, going to a costume party would be at the bottom of my list of favorite things to do.  Hope you have a good time.

Ruth Ann, glad you are staying in.

Don, I agree with you on being more busy.  I just don't push myself as hard anymore so have less time I am willing to put towards work.  Hope you aren't iced in like we are.  It sounds like it is bad in NC.

JudyB

Larry I was praying you wouldn't loose power.

I have been searching for a product called "roving" for making mittens.  On the way home Tuesday I was thinking about getting a tea from Timies, and passed a craft shop.  I swung in and asked the owner, "Do you by chance carry roving?"  HE took me to shelving with many colours and the price although a little high was manageable.  If I had driven to Sturgeon I would have used gas as well as the cost of the product therefore more expensive.  (Sturgeon is an hour away.)  Half my knitting project is done!!!

John has gone west this trip and will make good miles, the last week of this month he is off.

In Canada Monday is Family Day,  The liberal government decided in their wisdom that we needed a special holiday in Ontario in February.  Everything will be closed. The kids enjoy the time off.

I'm off to do the fire, and finish the last half of my project.

Ruth

We have another beautiful day.

Judy: What is roving?
I new about using candles for light as well as they would generate enough heat to keep the chill out but a clay pot would work as well, good idea

Larry: It was good that you did not loose hydro.

Janet: How was the party? and  I know that you will have a good picture of you and Beth.

Who is  following the 2014 Olympics we are.

On the radio I heard we had a small earth quake the center of it was in the middle of Lake Ontario.
I have an appointment this afternoon and before that I have a small to do list better go and get it done.

Guess what!  It's snowing!  How unusual!     As of yesterday we were about 14 inches above normal and this is predicted to be anywhere from 8 to 16 inches before it's over.  There are already reports of accidents on the Adirondack Northway, the New York Thruway and the Mass. Turnpike.  The bad road conditions arrived earlier than people expected, I guess.  This is one old lady who will not be sticking her nose out the door.
