Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

BIBLE MEDITATION:

"Lord, lift Thou up the light of Thy countenance upon us.Psalm 4:6."

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

How easy it is to be deceived when we are not walking in the light of God's Word.

Charles Lindbergh tells about the time he was flying in a dense fog over Newfoundland. He noticed moisture beginning to freeze on the wings of his plane and thought, "This great adventure is going to come to an untimely end. What shall I do?" Then, he had a moment of inspiration. He pulled his plane up and out of the fog and burst into the dazzling sunlight.

Have you ever felt like you were living in a fog? Friend, He has a word of encouragement for you. You can get near to the heart of God. His light can shine even in the darkest corner of your heart.

ACTION POINT:

Ask God to shine His light into the darkness of your heart. Ask Him to reveal your doubts and fears. Ask Him to reveal your sin that lies covetously in your heart. Then get ready for a blessing. Draw up close, because when you repent, He'll reach in with healing forgiveness.

Jeanne:  Thanks ever so much for wonderful devotions!!!  It reminded me of grim thoughts I had after everlasting pain and itching on my face and all my hours of working out a problem came to naught.  Be still and know that I am with you.    Wonderful to look into the sunshine.

Hi everyone on this President's Day.  It is 36 degrees headed up to 55 degrees this afternoon but it looks like it will cloudy all day.  When I posted yesterday I had completely forgotten about the Senior Valentine Banquet at church last evening.  We had signed up to attend and it was a very nice affair hosted by the Youth Ministry.  We were checked in as we arrived and then escorted to our assigned table by one of the youth.  We were served with a delicious dinner and then a delightful program put on by the young people.  There were probably 160 or more seniors in attendance.

Tonight is the monthly Men's meeting at the church which I plan on attending.  Pat has a Women's Circle meeting at church this morning so this is a relatively busy day for us both.  I also have a meeting to attend at noon.

Jeanne, that is a fine Devotional Thought for this week.  Thanks for preparing it for us.

Carol,  perhaps it wasn't time for you to work out the problem.  I firmly believe sometimes the best action can be no action at all until the time is right.  It sounds like you are feeling better and I sure hope that is the situation.

Perhaps this will be the week we will hear from Janet and some of the other folks who haven't posted here in quite awhile.  New folks are always welcome and encouraged to join us even if it is just to say hello for the day.

Carol

It would be really nice to hear from anyone who is peeking in to check on this site.

Hi, friends,

Well, the weather is to warm up tomorrow so, we will get rain instead of the dreaded mixed precipitation.

I really haven't anything to tell y'all about, except that our Father loves us all, and I love all of you, too.

Hi everyone on a bright sunny Tuesday morning.  We are expected to see temperatures up to 57 degrees this afternoon.  We had some heavy rain and wind during the night.

I did attend the men's monthly meeting at the church last night and had a good steak dinner and then a good speaker.  The speaker was a lady who directs a local program to train people in job and life skills so that they might be able to find a job and improve their life.  It is a mentoring program that has helped over 200 men and women, a large percentage of whom are now working and contributing back to society.  The program does not give food or money.  It is a Christian based program and lasts for 8 weeks.

I have nothing on the schedule for today so will just take it easy today as got pretty tired yesterday.

Carol and Ruth Ann, glad to see you both posting and hope it is a nice day for you both and for anyone else looking in (and hopefully leaving a message).

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I had a J night last night, so have been mighty quiet and resting today.

My sister in law has a diabetic wound on the bottom of her foot. Thus it is heavily bandaged and she doesn't get out when it's raining. We had planned to have lunch today and then go shopping, but all was cancelled by the heavy rains we are having.

Tomorrow we go to her foot doctor, where there's a very large canopy protecting patients as they exit and re-enter their automobiles. So, she will get a bit of an outing then. :)

Y'all have a good rest of the day.

Hi everyone.  It is a beautiful morning here and to get into the low 60's this afternoon.  I am just back from an appointment having my pacemaker/defibrillator checked.  It was a routine appointment and all was well and was told I have about 4 more years of battery life before it will have to be replaced again. I went to the office where I had it checked the first time only to find out I had to go down the street to the Heart and Vascular Center of the Hospital for the check.  I did make it on time only to wait at least 30 minutes beyond the appointment time to actually have the check done.  It will be six months before I have to go in for the check again although an at home check will be done in May which is to read and evaluate the settings on the home monitoring device.  We have the Wednesday night dinner at church this evening but no class afterwards as the Pastor is away on church business.  Scott will be joining us for dinner.

Marilyn, sorry to hear that you lost one of your cats.  Our pets become like family memory and it is sad when we lose them.

Ruth Ann, hope your outing today with your SIL goes well.

Janet

I'm home!  We got here yesterday afternoon, so good to be home again!  Of course, first on the agenda was a visit to Beth and John, picking up a big tub full of mail at the Post Office, then emptying those suitcases!  I started doing laundry right away, and finished that this afternoon.  I think we had seven loads!  :o  I am only about a fourth of the way through that pile of mail; but did sort it last night before my eyes refused to stay open any longer.  But the jet lag isn't nearly as bad, coming home from Europe as it is when we go to Asia!

My, it is so good to read that I was missed here!  I missed all of you, as well.  I am just not up to speed with my iPhone yet, and barely was able to contact John a few times for updates on Beth.  She seems about the same to me, but I couldn't understand a word she said.   :'(  No appointment yet, as the neurologist in Amarillo said he won't see her, as he "doesn't feel comfortable seeing her."  Whatever THAT means.  >:(  I called Dr. Rosin's (here) nurse today and told her I don't care where we have to take her, just get her an appointment ASAP!!

We saw lots of beautiful country, walked a lot of miles, and climbed many hundreds of stairs.  So in spite of a lot of wonderful "eating opportunities" I don't feel I gained any weight, for which I am thankful.

We can now add another five countries to our list we have traveled, those being:  Croatia, Montenegro, Herzegovina, Bosnia, and Slovenia.  The small ship was lovely, with such a friendly crew, all of whom knew all of our names by the second day!  There were 44 passengers and 21 crew, so we were really well cared for!  Our Program Directors wee really good, as well as all the local guides we had.  I believe my favorite part was the small country of Slovenia.  It is very beautiful, with lots of waterfalls and castles.  And very hard to spell and pronounce names!  They don't much like vowels there.   ;)  I did learn to spell the name of their capitol (al?) city, Ljubljana.   :D  We were gone a bit over three weeks this time.  I guess I didn't make it clear before we left, how long we would be gone.  Sorry about that!

Any word from our Pat?  I did read all the posts I missed while gone.  I do hope she is doing well.  I miss her so much!

I want to watch the news, see what I missed while gone.  We did watch CNN a little bit, and Darrel got up at midnight to watch the Super Bowl!

Hi everyone on another chilly but beautiful sunny day.  We had a very good meal last evening at church.  Occasionally the cook prepares a breakfast at dinnertime meal and so last night we had an egg and sausage casserole, cheese grits, biscuits and sausage gravy, fruit cup and a slice of Danish along with orange juice.  I generally don't care for biscuits and gravy but have to say they were outstanding last night.  In an hour I will leave to pick up my friend to take to coffee and then will take him home before going to the church for our Wisdom group.  That will be it for today.  Scott came out after dinner and we enjoyed a nice walk down memory lane to events in his childhood.

Janet, I was delighted to see first your posting in Facebook and then you more informational posting above.  Glad you are safely home and had such a nice time.  Glad you didn't find Beth any worse but how worrisome when the specialist refuses to treat a patient any further.  I hope you can rest up for a day or two from the flight home.

Thanks so much, Larry and Marilyn!  It's fun to go, but always good to get home again!  Maybe by this time tomorrow I will be finished going through all the mail!  ;)

Hi everyone on this beautiful Friday morning.  I have a flexible day planned as nothing on the calendar.  I finally got good Internet reception established upstairs so will probably do some updated and perhaps back up of Pat's laptop that she has in her sewing room.  I also want to catch up on some reading.  I have already done my morning chores in the kitchen and have watered my plant and the two little miniature trees we have in pots on our front porch.  We are expecting a very nice day with it getting into the mid-60's this afternoon.

Janet, I hope you were able to finish going through your mail yesterday.  I am constantly amazed that I can fill up my office waste basket twice a week with papers, magazines and other discards.

Janet

Yea!  I finally got to the bottom of that pile of mail!  And by that time I had filled a big trash can full!  I still have smaller piles to do something with, but at least the whole table isn't covered with it!

Yesterday it got up to 90* here!  And with high winds.  Ugh.  You know how I love the wind--NOT.  But today was really beautiful, with no wind!  I am wondering when we will have winter--march?  Or April?  Maybe both?  These temps are unheard of, for FEBRUARY!!  :o

When I stopped by The Legacy to see Beth and John yesterday, they were just leaving for Garden City.  I asked what they were going for, and John said Beth just wanted to get out for a while.  I said they had a nice warm day for it, and that it would do them both good to get out of that place for a while.  Then today when I went, they weren't there, so I missed them again.

Carol I want to be sure to tell you what we did for Darrel's shingles.  He had them about two or three years ago; went to the Dr. and got a small tube of salve, for $65.  I did a Google search about it and found a cure, which I paid $25 to download.  VINEGAR!!  Yes!  Use a really good apple cider vinegar (we like Braggs).  What you do is to drink two tablespoons full in a half glass of water in the morning.  Then, with a soft cloth, dab pure vinegar on the blisters.  Darrel said it stopped the pain instantly!  And if they started hurting again, we just dabbed on more, or he drank more vinegar.  Cheap, and vinegar certainly will not hurt you.  I hope it works as well for you as it did for him.  I have had the shot, too, so certainly hope I'm not in that 5%!  Within just a few days, those shingles disappeared, and if he had any hint of them coming back, he just did the vinegar thing again.

I'm going to Moscow in the morning to see Curtis and Toni and the little great-grand girls.  So I'm looking forward to that!  I want his advice on some computer stuff.

Larry, do you think having an iPad and iPhone would cover my needs, without a laptop?  This one is getting pretty old, and it is saying it will no longer accept updates for Google as it won't support Vista.  So I guess it's time for me to make a change.  I have friends who only use their iPads now.  What do you think?  I appreciate your opinion.  I would keep this one, for writing and other off-line use.

Hi everyone.  I awoke to a cloudy 50 degree morning and we are to get to the mid-60's this afternoon.  Today is the day for voting in the Republican primary here in South Carolina with the Democratic primary next Saturday.  So one more week of political ads and it should be over until after the conventions.  I need to return one of the shirts Pat gave me for my birthday as she got the wrong size.  The other shirt was just fine.  I am going to suggest to her that we have a late lunch and then she won't have to cook tonight.  She usually is in favor of this plan.  There is nothing else scheduled for today.

Janet, you are not a big computer user from what you have indicated and I do think you could easily use your iPad and iPhone in lieu of a laptop.  I did that for awhile after I gave Pat my laptop and was able to do most things I wanted to do.  There are many programs available that mirror what you would get on a laptop or desk top computer.  I would suggest that if you decide to go this way that you spend $16 or so for a lightweight blue tooth keyboard that will work with the Ipad or even the iPhone.  This eliminates the use of the smaller keyboard.  Here is a link to the one I purchased several years ago and really like it although don't have the occasion to use it very often.  http://www.amazon.com/Anker-Bluetooth-Ultra-Slim-Keyboard-Devices/dp/B005ONMDYE .  You are certainly having hot weather.  Nice to read that John and Beth are getting out for some short trips.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone on this cloudy but fairly warm Sunday morning.  We should get to 73 degrees this afternoon.  Today will be church day and then probably a light lunch as we ate at Ruby Tuesday's yesterday and had a big meal.

Pat

Larry, what a lovely Valentine's Banquet.  I sure appreciate it when we have an occasion at our church hosted by the Young People.

Carol, hope your face is all better now. :)  Yes, what a lovely verse, "Be still, and know that I am God".  I've been peeking but hopefully soon, I'll be posting more and more.

Hi Ruth Ann!

Sorry about your cat, Marilyn!  That's always so sad when we lose a loved "furr-baby".

Hi Janet...  I'm so happy that you had such a wonderful time.  Looking forward to seeing your photos.
