JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Morning Devotional...

Peter Sees a Lesson
Acts 10:1-23 NLT

  In Caesarea there lived a Roman army officer named Cornelius, who was a captain of the Italian Regiment.  He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.  One afternoon about three o'clock, he had a vision in which he saw an angel of God coming toward him. "Cornelius!" the angel said.

   Cornelius stared at him in terror. "What is it, sir?" he asked the angel.

   And the angel replied, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering!  Now send some men to Joppa, and summon a man named Simon Peter.  He is staying with Simon, a tanner who lives near the seashore."

   As soon as the angel was gone, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier, one of his personal attendants.  He told them what had happened and sent them off to Joppa.

   The next day as Cornelius's messengers were nearing the town, Peter went up on the flat roof to pray. It was about noon, and he was hungry. But while a meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.  He saw the sky open, and something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners.  In the sheet were all sorts of animals, reptiles, and birds.  Then a voice said to him, "Get up, Peter; kill and eat them."

  "No, Lord," Peter declared. "I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure and unclean."

  But the voice spoke again: "Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean."  The same vision was repeated three times. Then the sheet was suddenly pulled up to heaven.

   Peter was very perplexed. What could the vision mean? Just then the men sent by Cornelius found Simon's house. Standing outside the gate, they asked if a man named Simon Peter was staying there.

   Meanwhile, as Peter was puzzling over the vision, the Holy Spirit said to him, "Three men have come looking for you.  Get up, go downstairs, and go with them without hesitation. Don't worry, for I have sent them."

   So Peter went down and said, "I'm the man you are looking for. Why have you come?"

   They said, "We were sent by Cornelius, a Roman officer. He is a devout and God-fearing man, well respected by all the Jews. A holy angel instructed him to summon you to his house so that he can hear your message."  So Peter invited the men to stay for the night. The next day he went with them, accompanied by some of the brothers from Joppa

What lessons has God had to repeat in your life?

   "What about the heathen who have never heard about Christ?"  This is a common question asked about God's justice.

   Cornelius wasn't a Christian, but he was seeking God, and he was a reverent and generous man.  Therefore, God sent Peter to tell Cornelius about Jesus.

   This shows us that God "rewards those who sincerely seek him" (Heb. 11:6).  Those who sincerely seek God will find him!  God made Cornelius's knowledge complete.

Janet

Etta Sue, thanks!  I enjoyed that!

I went to see Beth and was reading to her, but she just could not stay awake, so I told her to sleep, I will go back tomorrow.

When I got home, Darrel was "watching" football on the insides of his eyelids.  And I feel sleepy myself--must just be a sleepy sort of day!

Wonderful Words of Life
(Click to hear music)

"You shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life." Philippians 2:15-16

Words & Music: Philip P. Bliss.

I carried that song through two seasons of evangelistic work, never thinking it possessed much merit, or that it had the element of special usefulness, particularly for solo purposes. It occurred to me to try it one day during the campaign in New Haen, [Connecticut, 1878,] and, with the help of Mrs. Stebbins, we sang it as a duet. To our surprise the song was received with the greatest enthusiasm and from that time on to the close of the meetings was the favorite of all the hymns used. As an illustration of the hold it got upon the people all about that section of the country, I received a letter from the Secretary of the Connecticut State Sunday School Association offering me what seemed an absurdly large sum of money, if I would, with Mrs. Stebbins, come to the State Convention and sing that one song.

Sing them over again to me, wonderful words of life,
Let me more of their beauty see, wonderful words of life;
Words of life and beauty teach me faith and duty.

Refrain

Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life,
Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life.

Christ, the blessèd One, gives to all wonderful words of life;
Sinner, list to the loving call, wonderful words of life;
All so freely given, wooing us to heaven.

Refrain

Sweetly echo the Gospel call, wonderful words of life;
Offer pardon and peace to all, wonderful words of life;
Jesus, only Savior, sanctify us forever.

Refrain

Knowing how Etta Sue loves to post scriprure, I have had this hymn in mind for some time, to go alomg with Etta Sue's post!

We had a wonderful time with Ruth and her husband.  Lively conversation and pleanty of laughter.  Thank you Ruth!

RuthV

We had a wonderful time, too.... Judy. Your a wonderful cook and I really enjoyed the dinner and especially the dessert!!
As I mentioned to Judy I come in here often to read, however am shy about posting. All of you have become my dear friends and I really miss those who have not posted in a long time. I will endeavour, with God's help, not to be a stranger.

John helped my husband Everett, change a tire. Tomorrow I'm heading to North Bay to have the multidirectional switch replaced on my car..... I have had the headlights going off without warning since September!!! Time to do it!!!

Larry Hanna

HI everyone.  It rained during the night and is raining lightly this morning but it still to get up to 65 degrees today.  The housekeepers are here this morning and they changed a mattress we had on the twin bed in my office with a mattress upstairs in preparation for Pat's sister coming to stay with us next month to help Pat after her hip surgery.  We didn't get out of the house yesterday.  The Falcons game just about wore me out and I was laying down watching it all afternoon.  What a game and a cliff hanger.  It is interesting how many games come down to a last second field goal for a win.  I guess it just means it isn't over until it is over.  Nothing unusual on the schedule for today.  Our Monday men's luncheon group is going to a favorite place where they have really good food.  This evening I have a meeting to attend.

Janet, thanks for your nice comments about my postings.  Glad Beth is feeling better.

Judy, are you asking about the Chorus "Altogether Lovely"?  It would be a job to have meals for three times a day for a week.  However, sure they are much better for him than eating out all the time.

Etta Sue, thanks for your devotional for this week.  I have often wondered about that same question but figure that isin God's hands so don't worry about it.  I like watching some of the games from the insides of my eyelids.

RuthV, no need to be shy about posting.  I firmly believe it isn't what we write here but the fact that we do write that keeps the links of friendship strong and new folks are always welcome.  Not good to have your headlights going off when you don't want them to.

Jeanne Lee

There's some faint sunshine this morning, but the pea soup fog we've had for the last three days is gone - and so is most of the snow.  It looks like this is the last day of the January thaw, with temperatures dropping tonight and tomorrow and then maybe more snow toward the end of the week.

RuthV, it's always so good to see a posting from you.  Don't worry about what you have to say.  There's certainly nothing earth-shaking in my posts!  I'm sure everyone is waiting impatiently to find out what the weather is like here!   :lol:

Larry, those close games that go right to the last second seem to show that the two teams are very closely matched.   :)

YEs Larrry about Altogether Lovely.  Unfortunately for John he has the same thing for his meals every day for a week, this week roast beef, veggies, potatoes and gravy for supper, eggs and sausage for breakfast and ham sandwiches on a healthy bread for lunch.  However next week will be homemade chili for lunch and chicken or pork chops for supper. That is how I try to get some variety.  I don't give him desserts, however he gets bananas and yogurt.  He can't take other fruit over the border, US customs would confiscate it.  They do allow canned fruit, but that is an expensive way to go.

I am excited today to restart a bible course with the Online Bible College.  I am waiting for a couple of questions to be answered, and I will be back at it. Also I am looking forward to taking an online accounting course.  I have so much time alone that this year I have decided to fill the hours with learning!

Time to sing.....Don't forget if there is a song you would like to hear let me know!

Faith of Our Fathers
(Click to hear music)

Lyrics: Frederick Faber, 1849.   Composer: Henri Hemy, 1864.
History of the Hymn--Faith of our Fathers is an English Catholic hymn, written in 1849[1] by Frederick William Faber in memory of the Catholic martyrs from the time of the establishment of the Church of England by Henry VIII.[2] Faber wrote two versions of the hymn: with seven stanzas for Ireland and with four for England.[3] The Irish version was sung at hurling matches until the 1960s.[4]

In England and Ireland it is usually sung to the traditional tune Sawston; in the U.S. the tune St Catherine by Henri Hemy is more commonly used.

Faith of our fathers, living still,
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword;
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whenever we hear that glorious Word!

Faith of our fathers, holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death.

Faith of our fathers, we will strive
To win all nations unto Thee;
And through the truth that comes from God,
We all shall then be truly free.

Faith of our fathers, holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death.

Faith of our fathers, we will love
Both friend and foe in all our strife;
And preach Thee, too, as love knows how
By kindly words and virtuous life.

Faith of our fathers, holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death.

Thanks, Judy, for the music you post on CP.  I admire people who are musical.  I am but I only tap my feet!  I don't know the lyrics to many songs...but I can tell you if a word is sung wrong but I can't tell you what the right word is!  I can't sing and I don't play an instrument.  I think my favorite song now is 'Ancient Words'.  We sing it at our church a lot and I do get the meaning of it!

Church was awesome.  Then I brought Ivalou home and went back for Sunday School.  When I went in, Larry, the teacher, said 'I have a job for you!  I want you to let me know 5 minutes ahead of closing time so I can wrap things up.'  It seems that at council meeting, people were talking how great their Sunday School class was and one in ours said, 'Well, we didn't leave until 12 o'clock!'  Larry took that to mean he was too long when in fact, it was meant as...we enjoy the class so much that we didn't even notice it was 12 o'clock until we were dismissed!!

Anyway, I sat down and pulled my Droid out of my pocket.  I took the silence off and set the alarm for 11:25am.  I was holding my Droid in my hand.  The lesson was God's view of Marriage and Family.  (Eph 5:18--6:4) Larry makes our lessons very interesting with sometimes totally different takes on the verses but true to their meanings.  Suddenly my alarm went off....a rooster calling!!  It scared me and everyone laughed!  I said, I will see if I can find another sound for next week and they all thought the rooster calling was great!  Uh, Larry still talked another 10 minutes but who cares?  We have nothing to do but go home or go out to eat!

Betty, Evelyn and I did go to Red Lobster and then back home.

Ivalou and I went to her granddaughter 'new to them' home to celebrate Melissa's mother, Linda, and brother, Parker's birthday!  Her home is huge!  Most all the rooms are twice the size of her old home plus a dining room, office, loft/family room and another bath!  Just hope she doesn't fill it up like the old house!

Then it was stopping to get some groceries and home in the rain.  There is so much water in the ground that there was no way I could walk across the grass from Ivalou's to my house.  So I walked to the road, on the road and on my drive.  I could tell that my deck was icy so I went to the end of the deck and gingerly walked to my door.  Ivalou was watching me from her door so I flipped the light on and off to let her know I was okay!

Ivalou said earlier that she doesn't have any water.  The breaker is off and she has water for a minute or two when she puts it back on, then it goes off again.  Her pump is under the house in the crawl space and the crawl space is probably full of water!  It either needs to drain or someone hook up a sump pump and pump it out!  Her son, Jeff is suppose to come today and check it!

Hoosiers have lake front property.  About the time you think it can't rain any more, it does.  And with the warmer temps we had all the snow has melted and into the ground as well!  We needed this last summer when we were in a drought!  It is cold today and not suppose to get above freezing.  Glad I don't have anywhere I have to go today!

Janet

Etta Sue, it would be nice if you  could send the excess water to this area.  We could really use it!

I went to the gym early today, walked 2 1/2 miles on the treadmill, 30 seconds fast, 2 minutes slow.  I was wearing the heart monitor thing, and she will tell me tomorrow how I did.  Then I came home to shower, followed Darrel to the auto shop, he took Beth's van for repairs, brought him home. Later, I had a chiropractic appointment, then met a friend for lunch.  We went to Subway and each had a salad.  Kind of spendy, though, $7.58, and not that big a salad.  So now we know!  ;)

Darrel didn't go to the gym, as he got heart pain on Friday after walking 5 minutes, slowly.  I called Amarillo, they are to call me back....we will see if they do!  They were supposed to call by the end of last week!

Judy, having the refrigerator in the truck sure makes it nicer for making meals for John.  And besides saving $$, the meals are better for him.  Good for both of you!

I need to make an appointment with someone to get another story done.  I have been being a little lazy, because my email went to the paper's spam filter and the last story got delayed a week for publication.  But I need to get with it again!

I arrived home about an hour ago, mission still unaccomplished!! There is an additional module that controls the high beams, turn signals, etc that has to be replaced and, unfortunately, the part is nowhere to be found in North Bay!!  The mechanic was able to wire the car so that I could get it home; then tomorrow, he and another friend are going to put their resources together to scout around for one.... if none is found then we have to go to the dealer. I have a 1993 Chrysler New Yorker Salon vehicle that was built in August 1992, so still has many 1992 parts; found by trial and error in this past escapade!!

I am totally relying on the Lord's leading in all this. This new mechanic advised that because I am a senior I can get 19% off parts and labour.  :cheer:

I also need new front struts, which I've known about since last March..... I was quoted a price about half of what was quoted last March, so I think I'll get them done.

Judy, I have figured out a way to download some of the music, so now I can listen to it while I'm working here on the computer.

Janet, I'm praying for Darrel.... trusting that you get that phone call.

May God be with all of you... so thankful that He knows our yesterdays, is with us as we go through today, and controls and knows our tomorrows!!

Larry John is heading down your way, not sure if he will be close enough for you to get together.  Do you know where Forest Park is?  That is where his delivery point is on Wednesday afternoon.

This has been a quiet day.  The temperature is dropping, and I have been making regular trips to the fire to load it.

I will see you all tomorrow.

Carol

Looking at the picture on my left of Mt. Ranier.  That is the mountain I am so familiar with since I spent most of my childhood into late teens in Seattle.  Our favorite view from the city.

Loved both of the songs today and yes, they are most familiar.

We met with friends who have moved closer to our area here - she has Parkinson's Disease and would you believe she looked and moved better than last springtime?  We went to Mimi's for lunch and everyone had the special soup and salad.  Their split pea ham soup was OK, not the best but it does take hours to get that one right.  Salad was fresh and crispy and we had such a good time.  They have a beautiful home, now they are making Scottsdale their home as one son lives close although they have children in Minneapolis and outside of Chicago.  We are so fortunate that all four of our children live within an hour's drive of our home - will never leave for the warmer climates except three months.

Ruth V:  Funny, just a few weeks ago our neighbors had the same problem with their Volvo - they bought it in Sweden (very good price there) and toured Europe and the part had to be shipped from Sweden to where they were staying.

Janet:  Oh, I have made some lulus for dinners - of course, the family won't let me forget.   :D  I bought some fabric at Hobby Lobby today and the girl forgot to give me the entire discount  :-\  will still frequent them.  Best for Darrel and Beth to stay out of the cold.  This will pass quickly.

I hope everyone is healthy and staying away from the people who have the flu.  A man we met said his neighbor had been in the hospital for more than a week.  Sounds awful this year.

Folks there are two urgent prayer requests in Prayer and Praise.  Please check them out, and pray!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I notice that the last 2 posts I put here have not stayed in place...hmmmmm.

Oh, well, at least God and I know I was here. :)

It's a cold, miserable day in Nashville, with icy rain coating the cars with ice and cars and bridges getting "tangled up" because of black ice forming on the bridges. Thankfully, its warm in my apartment and no appointments to call me out tomorrow!

Y'all have a wonderful rest this evening.

Love to all, and love, adoration, and praise to our Lord who loves us so much.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Larry Hanna

Norm, glad to hear that Dot had a better day yesterday and hope you both got a good nights sleep last night.  It is amazing what a coat of paint does around a home.  It is frustrating at times to not be able to tackle some of the smaller projects around the house.  I have never been very handy around the house but do try to keep things in good order.

Jeanne, sometimes if I didn't write about the weather here I wouldn't have much to write about and I do find it interesting what others are experiencing with their weather.  Eye witness reports are always more accurate than those big generalized weather maps you get on the news.

Judy, John may be like me in that I don't mind eating the same things several days in a row.  In fact, I have just about the same lunch everyday when I am home as I have eaten for years.  This is a sandwich, an apple, and some carrots.  Of course, I do eat out two or three times a week so get variety there.  Your Online Bible College course sounds interesting.  What will you be studying?

Etta Sue, it does sound like you have a fine Sunday School teacher.  Sometimes we just do't want something good to end.  If you are going to hold your phone as a timer you could consider just setting it to vibrate and you would feel it rather than hear the alarm.

Janet, the cost of eating out is reflecting the food prices in the grocery store.  Sorry to hear that Darrel experienced more heart pain.

RuthV, know it is frustrating to take a car in for repair and then still have to take it back again.  Hope they are able to fix you up today.  Most of the songs we have here are either MP3s and Midi files and should be downloadable by right clicking and saving the file to your hard disk, which I expect is what you have done.  I am finding many websites have coding that won't allow you to save the file offline but we don't have any of those that I am aware.

Judy, Forest Part is south of Atlanta a bit.  I live East of Atlanta about 30 miles.  Will he be staying overnight here in the area.  I would love to get together with him if he has time and we can find a good place to meet.  I think you have my telephone number and feel free to give it to him and if he has time he could give me a call and we can see what might be worked out into his schedule.

Carol, I was just speaking to my son on the phone and he asked if I had heard about the Seattle Snowball Fight.  Apparently it was something involving a large number of people using artificial snow.  I just did a Google search and it set a record.  I haven't looked at the video yet.  We have a Mimi's not too far from us where we have eaten a couple of times.

Ruth Ann, we are still warm down here, up to 64 degrees today but won't feel that warm because of the moisture in the air.  Glad you can stay in out of the bad weather.

Jesus Wondrous Saviour!
(Click to hear music)

Jesus, wondrous Savior! Christ, of kings the King!
Angels fall before Thee, prostrate worshipping;
Fairest they confess Thee in the Heav'n above.
We would sing Thee fairest here in hymns of love.

Fairer far than sunlight unto eyes that wait
Amid fear and darkness, 'til the morning break;
Fairer than the day-dawn, hills and dales among,
When its tide of glory wakes the tide of song.

Sweeter far than music quivering from keys
That unbind all feeling with strange harmonies.
Thou art more and dearer than all minstrelsy;
Only in Thy presence can joy's fullness be.

All earth's flowing pleasures were a wintry sea,
Heav'n itself without Thee dark as night would be.
Lamb of God! Thy glory is the light above.
Lamb of God! Thy glory is the life of love.

Life is death if severed from Thy throbbing heart.
Death with life abundant at Thy touch would start.
Worlds and men and angels all consist in Thee:
Yet Thou camest to us in humility.

Jesus! All perfections rise and end in Thee;
Brightness of God's glory Thou, eternally,
Favored beyond measure they Thy face who see;
May we gracious Savior, share this ecstasy.

Larry john has had the same breakfast since he was a child.  That is what he enjoys.  I do try to give him something different however he always returns to the norm.  For the other meals he doesn't seem to mind eating the same thing for a week, but the second week it is time for a change.  I watch for really good sales on the Maneater meals,$1.25 or lower that gives him a change for dinners.  They are normally over $5, so that is a real treat once or twice a year.

Ruth Ann don't know why your posts didn't stay.  Sometimes things just go "poof" in cyberspace.  I've had that happen as well! I sent an email out to an organization back in August, cc'ing it to a friend.  She received her copy last week!  LOL

Today is a colder day, however the fire is going,and I am warm.

I have been to the pool and to Taco Bell for a quick lunch.  Then home for a shower and head washing.  Now I am waiting until time to get ready and leave by 2:30pm.  I am to get Ivalou, Janet and Jane and then head to Bette's for Euchre.

And take my trash to the road sometime before 6:30am tomorrow!

It is nippy out today.  Still in the 20's.  All of the 'ponds/lakes' are frozen over and the ice is cracked due to the water underneath soaking in the ground.  Looks like the waves on a lake that has frozen!  The sun was shining but it is out of sight right now.

Tomorrow I am to visit Rose...my friend with brain cancer...after fighting lung cancer for two years.  Bless her heart!

Hello!  How are all of you today?  I  called Amarillo yesterday, and the nurse finally did call back later in the afternoon.  She told Darrel his Nuclear stress test was "Abnormal" and that he should keep the appointment on Jan. 24.I  I wish he had asked a couple of questions, but he didn't.  He is having spells every day, and I don't feel he should wait that long to go back.  We are discussing having our local doctor find a cardiologist somewhere closer.

And the doctor saw Beth yesterday.  He changed some of her meds; added Melatonin (again) plus another one to help her sleep, and is ordering another CT scan.  We are hoping that may pinpoint the reason for all those awful headaches.

We had a very light dusting of snow overnight, and it is quite cold here.  I had another bad night, finally got up before four; went back to bed at 6 and fell asleep, waking again at 9.  So my whole day is off kilter, time-wise.  I did go to the gym, though, and had a good workout.

Larry, hope you and John can work it out to meet, that would be so nice.  I wish I could meet you as I feel I know you pretty well already.  Amazing how close we come to feel to our computer friends.

Lots to do, see you all later!

 Just popping in to say hello. It has been really nice here the last few days. But now I think the January thaw is going to end. Temps are dropping and it gives a little more snow tomorrow.  Just came in from walk. It was much easier to walk the fields this time as the snow has dropped a lot. Even managed to walk on the woods trail. Quite refreshing and enjoyable.  I love getting into the woods in the winter. Never seen as much as a rabbit or a squirrel.  They must have heard me coming :) Quiet here as usual.
Have a good day everyone and may the Lord bless.
All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made

Hello Chrisle!  Glad that you had a chance to walk in the woods with the thaw.  I used to love to walk on the crunchy snow early in the morning to go out and start the car - well, not starting the freezing car but the quiet crunch of boots on snow.

Nita:  I read the news on your sister and said a prayer for her and you as well.

Janet:  Can you call and ask if there are any cancellations & time for you to get Darrel to Amarillo?  It is possible that the word "Abnormal"  means just a tad off of "Normal" - wish they had explained it more to you.  Go with your feeling on this though.  Good wishes to you two.

Jeanne:  Maybe you could help me with another thing I would like to have put under my name on the left.    Could "I Samuel 16:7 " be set under my name?  It is a verse that almost haunts me because I am quick to judge before even knowing.  Thank you for any help. " For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. "

Much to watch outside our window today as several young men in the apartment complex were taken away in handcuffs.  Maricopa County Arizona Sheriff's cars (5 black & white, and 3 undercover) were parked in front.  They were taking samples out of the place and set up a lab on the deck (across from us) testing who knows what.  They had to wait for permission to go inside for the search - all like a movie scene here today.

Jeanne Lee

Carol, I've added the scripture reference to your signature line.  The entire verse is too long, I'm afraid.

Hello!!

I took the car into Powassan, and attended a new Ladies Bible study as the one I had been going to has been called off until the spring as most of the attendees asked for the postponement due to bad driving conditions.
I was expecting a message on the phone to say that they had found the module, however there was none when I returned.... so I'll phone tomorrow to see if there is an update. In the meantime the lights are hardwired into the ignition so that they come on when the car is started.... no high beams, though.... however I'm really thankful to have the vehicle to be able to move around.
We are in for a cold spell, tonight through Friday.... we (you and I) will be feeding our wood stoves often these next few days, Judy.

I have some hot tea ready, will see you tomorrow.

Carol

Jeanne - thank you.  I really did think the entire verse would be too long.  Sometimes, I look up the verses on other names.  Anyway, this is a good verse for right now.

We looked out the window and there is a huge truck plus about 4 undercover police vehicles.  They carry things out in paper shopping bags and I heard a thud a little while ago and larger stuff being carried out.  What in the world would those young men thinking????  This began early in the morning and it is really dark outside - 7:30 PM our time now so a full 12 hours I know about.

Don has a cold so we will take it easy around here for awhile and see if he can get over this with OTC meds.  We don't have a doctor here but do have insurance.  Our friends moved to Scottsdale and wanted a doctor closer and have called about 90 doctor's offices without one taking them on.  She has a specialist but no General Practitioner.  This is what is coming our way - shortage of doctors.

Janet

Carol, I did call and let them know Darrel has been having "spells" of pain and shortness of breath every day.  They said take him to the ER!  I told them we'd been there and done that, and are waiting for the Dr. in Amarillo (whose nurse I was talking to) to do something!  We wanted to know if we drive that 200 miles, is he just going to talk to us, or is he going to fix the problem?  She said she will ask him--he was out of the office today--and let us know.  And so we wait....  He took two nitros today for the pain.  If he takes three, five minutes apart and the pain is still there, he has to go to the ER.

So sorry to read about dear Nita's sister.  Wonderful attitude she has, though.  Each of us must walk that path unless Jesus comes before our time, but it is so hard for the families.  We just came home from a Bible study and were told of three deaths in our small town today.

I must get to bed, will be going to Liberal tomorrow to help judge the scholastic arts fair.  Need to get some sleep, please God.

Ruth the problem you are having with the lights must be contageous.  My regular beams are fine but the high beams don't work unless I pull the turn signal forward.  As I passed the farm with the solar pannels I saw deer cross the road.  THankfully I could see them.  Becareful down that end of our road!

Well this is a tight month for us. I am thankful that john was home over the holidays, but we are paying for it in the pay check.  I will have to be inventive with meal preparation!

As Ruth said we have a cold spell this week and will be feeding our furnaces.  We were spoilled with last weeks weather.  Already the frost heaves in the road are appearing in the same old places.  every year they try to fix them, only to have them heave again in January.

We have two families struggling with cancer. Both are posted in Prayer and Praise, take time to read the requests and leave a note. (Those who have thank you!)  Please keep them in your prayers and thank God for your health, it is so precious.

I am heading to bed Will have tea with you all tomorrow.  Who is bringing the cookies, or is it tarts this time!
