JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

We played Euchre and then had ham, mac and cheese, salad and veggies.  We were all leaving.  Bette's driveway is drive off the road and turn left into her garage.  Janet, Ivalou and I were in my car and I parked in front of garage door to the right.  Jody and Nancy came and parked in front of the garage door to the left.  Jan Barker and Jane came and parked behind me at a 90° angle.

Nancy and Jody had already left.  The rest of us went outside to leave.  I went on to my car to start it and get it to start warming.  Jane and Jan Barker got in Jan's car.  Janet, Ivalou and Bette were talking and standing where Nancy car had been.  Jan Barker backed her car where Nancy's car was to turn around!!  I heard a scream!  Jan hit Janet who had her back to Jan's car and knocked her down.  We all jumped out of the cars and Janet said her shoulder was hurt.  Jan called 911, I called Janet's husband, Sam.  Janet's glasses were on her head but not where they were suppose to be so she handed her glasses to Ivalou.  Then said, 'Something is in my eye.'  Blood.  Her glasses had cut her check when she hit the ground and blood was in her eye and hair!

Why do they send a firetruck when we ask for an ambulance but the firetruck came first?  Then the police.  Then the ambulance.  The police questioned all of us.  Sam got there and the ambulance took Janet to Riverview Hospital ER.  Jane got in my car because Jan was going to the hospital for a blood draw to prove she wasn't intoxicated.  The policeman asked her to do that but also let her drive and he followed her!  No alcohol was at our Euchre!  No one was at fault.

Janet has had a hard time these last few years.  She is 70 and a diabetic, taking insulin shots.  She went through surgery and chemo for thyroid cancer...they removed a tumor of about 3 lbs!  She fell on her bicycle twice...the last time she broke her hip.  So she isn't a physical strong lady anyway!

Sam said he hoped in a couple of weeks, they could laugh about all of it!

Sam and Janet are to leave for Florida next Thursday and stay beside Kaye Don and Barb.  I called Kaye Don to tell him about the accident.  He called me back in a couple of hours and said Sam and Janet were on their way home.  She does have a broken bone in her shoulder and a couple of stitches in her cheek.  And Sam had three hours to think it and said that 'Barker is better than the Bike'!  So they are already laughing about it.

I still say if Janet had been standing closer to the garage or Jan had been going faster, that Janet would have hit the garage door with her forehead and that would have been a lot worse.

Accidents do happen and praise God, it wasn't worse.

I am going to see my friend Rose today with the brain tumor.  I want to go and don't want to go...does that make sense?

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is another drizzly day and still pretty warm but colder weather is on its way and the possibility of seeing a few snow flakes, although that may be North of us.  Yesterday evening Stacey fell again in her apartment and had to call 911 to go to the emergency room.  She hurt her other hip as her knee gave out on her and she fell on the side that didn't have the hip replacement.  They did an x-ray and found no broken bones but terrible bruising.  She called after 11 pm last night saying they were keeping her in the ER as her blood pressure was dangerously low.  We haven't heard from her this morning although Pat did call the hospital and she is still in the ER.  I may have to go down later today and get her back to her apartment.

Last night I made plane reservations for my SIL for her trip in February when Pat has her hip replaced.  We called her to see how her name way on her driver's license but I misunderstood what Pat had told me and used only her middle initial rather than her middle name on the tickets.  Late in the evening Pat discovered this, thankfully.  A little while ago I called Travelocity and they helped me get it straightened out.  The tickets from lat night had to be cancelled and new tickets issued.  Of course, overnight the price had gone up $11.  I was very relived that the problem could be corrected.

At noon today I am meeting with the lady who is taking on the Treasurer duties that I had done for the last three years.  We are meeting at the bank to do new signature cards and required paperwork and I will turn over all the records to her.  Later today, if I don't have to go to Atlanta to help Stacey, I plan on meeting John, Judy's husband, who as you all know is a trucker as he will be in the South Atlanta area to leave a load.  We will meet at a truck stop north of Atlanta on his way to North Carolina.  I am looking forward to meeting him for a cup of coffee.

Janet, it sounds like it would be a good idea to have a cardiologist closer to where you live.  Does Nitro stop the pain for Darrel?  I agree with your comment on how close we become to our computer friends.  I would love to meet you.  Perhaps you will make a trip to the SE sometime and that might be possible.  Right now I don't anticipate in the midwest and we haven't been there for close to 5 years.  Neither Pat nor I are up to making the trip at this time.

Etta Sue, what a frightening experience you all had yesterday afternoon.  Sure glad it wasn't your car involved.

Carol, it sure sounds like something drug related yesterday.  Frightening concerning the situation developing with doctors.

A special Hi to those postings (or looking in) that I didn't address this morning but just running short on time.

Jeanne Lee

Etta Sue, what an ending to a pleasurable evening!  Although it was serious enough, praise the Lord it wasn't any worse.

Larry, so sorry to hear that Stacey has fallen again.  Her trials just never seem to end.   :(  I hope you do get a chance to meet with John.  He has promised to let me know if he's in this area as he has been in the past, and I keep hoping.

Carol, sounds like that was a good time to stay indoors and away from the action.  There have been a few times when the sheriff cars have been at a couple of my neighbors, but the deputies have always left quietly and alone.

We have a little over 2 inches of white stuff so far - predictions were for 1 to 3 inches so it looks like for once they were pretty close.   ;)

Etta Sue what an experience,  The fire department comes first because they are faster, and can start helping by giving oxygen, there are often paramedics in the fire department as well who can dig in and help!

Larry I hope you are able to meet up with John....Sitting on pins and needles here!

Ok in the attempt to be creative with what we have in the house I am starting a batch of Chili for meals I will freexe John's and set some aside for myself.  Then on to a Meatloaf.  That is comfort food for me, meatloaf whipped potatoes and veggies with gravy.  It's time for meatloaf!  I bought a family pack of porkchops, I will cook them up and freeze them as well.  That gets me ahead for the next 3 or so weeks for part of John's meals.  I am going to have to make my own yogurt this time as I do eat a lot in smoothies!

Time to remember that Our God supplies all our need.....And that is singular, as each need comes up!!

Anyone ready to sing?

I Know Whom I Have Believed
(Click to hear music)

Words by Daniel W. Whittle

I know not why God's wondrous grace
To me He has made known,
Nor why, unworthy, Christ in love
Redeemed me for His own.

(Chorus)
But "I know whom I have believed,
And am persuaded that He is able
To keep that which I've committed
Unto Him against that day."

I know not how this saving faith
To me He did impart,
Nor how believing in His Word
Wrought peace within my heart.

(Chorus)

I know not how the Spirit moves,
Convincing men of sin,
Revealing Jesus thru the Word,
Creating faith in Him.

(Chorus)

I know not what of good or ill
May be reserved for me,
Of weary ways or golden days
Before His face I see.

(Chorus)

I know not when my Lord may come -
At night or noonday fair,
Nor if I'll walk the vale with Him
Or meet Him in the air.

(Chorus)
But "I know whom I have believed,
And am persuaded that He is able
To keep that which I've committed
Unto Him against that day."

Carol

I could use a kneeling rail like they have in churches just reading the notes in here.

Actually, I miss the old kneeling rail and going right up to the pulpit for communion - things change.  Still love communion.

Janet:  I just don't know what to say but hang in there - you always do.

Etta Sue:  We have friends named Barker.  I wish you good friend a healthy outcome.  A neighbor has her car with a warning if there is something too close to the bumper - she has a Toyota Camry.  I want my next car to park itself and have that warning as well.  Wishing.  The firemen come first for anything I see  and they are so well trained that I would trust them in any accident.

Larry:  How neat that you get to meet John.  Sorry about the Stacey having so many mishaps.  I know she wants independence - will say a prayer for that as well.

Don's cold is worse but not at the criteria he says it should be to go to a clinic---- I would take him in a nano second but oh, no - gotta get worse.   ::)  I plan to go to quilting at the little church this afternoon and tie a quilt but this time I am not bending over so far on the table - my back is still a bit "off".  The yellow tape is down at the neighbors - thank heaven.  Otherwise, that always looks like a big crime scene - the  place next to us is for sale and now how would that look to a buyer?

Al Moak

Carol - I'm glad you mentioned communion.  I was just thinking about a message I gave about that some time back.  Communion is like a conversation between the Lord and ourselves.  First, He offers us His Body - His earthly life.  He says, "This is my Body, broken for you.  This do in remembrance of Me.  In other words, He offers us His earthly life in place of ours.  And by receiving it, we're saying, "Dear Lord, I take Your life and righteousness in place of my own.  I need Your righteousness."  Then He offers His Blood to wash away our sin, and we are saying, Oh yes, Lord, I take Your Sacrifice, for I have nothing to offer to make atonement.  Oh, I receive Your everlasting love!
So, right there, at the very time of this rite, we once again receive His loving gift of His Blood and His life.  To approach this ritual in this manner thus becomes very, very special as we actually repeat the most important and meaningful transaction of our lives!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I chose to let this be a quiet day at Ruth Ann's place. No going out, cooking a simple meal of ground pork, a sauce, and black beans. Now, it's time to do as my grandma said and "rid up" the place. :)

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

After reading the trials that Etta Sue, Larry, Janet, Nita and others are having, my automobile problems ARE trivial!!

Thank you, Al...... I do love the Lord's table and I am so thankful that Jesus reminded us:
"   For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come."

Janet

Etta Sue, I am so glad your friend wasn't hurt worse!  Goodness, that was a scary episode!

So sorry Stacey has fallen again, hope she is okay and you don't have to go down there, Larry.  It would be good if you can meet John.

I was gone all day!  We had 360 pieces of art to judge, and only three judges.  So it was a hard job, particularly because of the quality of the work.  For Junior High and High School students, it was just amazing!  I have been to numerous professional shows that didn't measure up to that work!  When we got down to choosing the "Vision" winners--the top five out of all of them--it was really hard!  We have some great young artists in the Western half of Kansas!

I called Darrel about three times to see how he was doing, as he still had pain when I left.  He  seems to be okay, but I am aggravated the doctor's nurse didn't call after promising to do so.  Larry, the closest cardiologists to us are in Amarillo and Wichita, both 200 miles away.

My throat is hurting, my nose is starting to run and my head aches.  So I have taken Zinc, vitamin C and three Tylenol, and am heading to bed.  I do NOT have time to be sick!

Marilyn mine always worked so that if you push them onto high beams they would stay there till I would lower to low beams, that isn't working right now.  It may be just a glitch however I won't be going out in the next few days to check it out.

It is really cold here, -23 according to our thermometer outside.  I am interested what the weather thingy says after I post. I have added wood to the furnace now to wait for it to warm the house up!

Larry, John really enjoyed his visit with you. He was telling me about it last night.  I am so glad you were able to meet and encourage each other!

I enquired into taking a Hebrew course.  I can't do it while on dial-up.  THe cost is $1090, which, considering it is coming from the university of Jerusalem, I don't think is too bad.  I have wanted to learn Hebrew since my teen years.  Cannot do it at this time however it will be something on my bucket list!

Is it time to sing?

Etta Sue

Kitty reminded me yesterday that she was glad that it wasn't Ivalou that was hit by Jan's car!  My, that would have been worse (for us), tearing up what the surgeon did to her arm.  And yes, my car beeps when I get close to something backing up.  Even a puddle in the drive!

The visit with Rose was great!  Rose is ready.  She said as I was leaving...the next time you see me, I may not be alive here on earth.  I will be in heaven in the arms of my loving God.  What comfort!  She is ready!

And Ivalou's appointment with her arm surgeon was changed to this morning.  So I am ready to go to her house in a few minutes.  And my ring is suppose to be ready today.  I will call them later, too!

And I saw Jake at the convenient store where I stopped for cappuccino yesterday.  He said the part came in for my heat pump and to call and make an appointment to get it installed.  So tomorrow afternoon it is.

In 1225, when he was feeling ill and losing his sight, Francis of Assisi
wrote about what was always on his heart:  the praise of God.  In "All
Creatures of Our God and King," Francis' love for God and the world He made
comes out very strongly.  Probably because he lived such a simple life, he
"noticed" things that we, in our busy-ness, overlook.  Francis believed that
all earth's creatures get their life from God and that we all depend on Him
for our continual existence.

PS 145:10,11 "All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall
bless thee.  They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy
power."

From the grateful heart of a devoted Italian monk in the year of 1225 came this beautiful message.

As a great lover of nature, Saint Francis of Assisi saw the hand of God in all creation.  He demonstrated through his own life all the tender, humble, forgiving spirit and absolute trust in God that his hymn urges others to have. At the age of 25, St. Francis left an indulgent fife as a soldier, renounced his inherited wealth, and determined to live meagerly and to imitate the selfless life of Christ.

Throughout his life Saint Francis appreciated the importance of church music and encouraged singing in his monastery. He wrote more than 60 hymns for this purpose. The beautiful expressions of praise in All Creatures of Our God and King have endured throughout the centuries.

All Creatures of Our God and King
(Click to hear music)

"Let heaven and earth praise Him,
the seas and all that move in them."

Psalm 69:34

Author: Francis of Assisi, 1182-1226
Tr. by William H. Draper, 1855-1933
Melody from GeistlicheKirchengesang, 1623

All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing,
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam,
Thou silver moon with softer gleam!

Refrain

O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou rushing wind that art so strong
Ye clouds that sail in heaven along,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou rising moon, in praise rejoice,
Ye lights of evening, find a voice!

Refrain

Thou flowing water, pure and clear,
Make music for thy Lord to hear,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou fire so masterful and bright,
That givest man both warmth and light.

Refrain

Dear mother earth, who day by day
Unfoldest blessings on our way,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
The flowers and fruits that in thee grow,
Let them His glory also show.

Refrain

And all ye men of tender heart,
Forgiving others, take your part,
O sing ye! Alleluia!
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear,
Praise God and on Him cast your care!

Refrain

And thou most kind and gentle Death,
Waiting to hush our latest breath,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou leadest home the child of God,
And Christ our Lord the way hath trod.

Refrain

Let all things their Creator bless,
And worship Him in humbleness,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, Three in One!

Refrain

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I really slept hard last night and got up late this morning.  However, the calendar is clear as far as I know other than a quick trip to the post office and a stop at Kroger for a few items and a prescription.  It rained off and on all day yesterday, just gently, and through the night and still raining this morning.  The temperature is starting to come down and to get into the high 30s by morning.  I had a delightful visit with John yesterday and we were able to talk for about an hour at a truck stop north of Atlanta.  Stacey is suppose to get the LifeLine today but don't know whether she will be at the apartment as is still in the hospital and it doesn't appear they think she should leave today.  However, she called a few minutes ago demanding that we come and get her as she wasn't going to stay any longer.  Pat talked with the nurse and she has apparently been giving them fits.  She tells us they won't tell her anything but the nurse said she has been told.  We are sure it is do to the withdrawal from nicotine.  The nurse said they can probably get a voucher to get her back to her apartment by cab as it is only 6-8 blocks from the hospital.

Jeanne, as you can see from above Stacey doesn't fit the mold as the ideal patient!  Last night the weatherman was saying we could see a few snow flakes later this afternoon but the ground is way to warm for anything to stick.

Judy, John and I had a very pleasant, if too short, conversation.  However, I knew he had a long ways to go last evening to be where he needed to be this morning.

Carol, it wasn't until we had joined the Methodist church many years ago that I had ever experienced a kneeling rail as a part of a service.  I liked it however.

Al, thanks for the words regarding the meaning of communion.

Ruth Ann, I think black beans and rice with a nice salsa or sauce on it is one of my favorite foods.  I just had a meal with that on Monday with our men's luncheon group.

RuthV, I think all trials we experience seem pretty big at the time and then we get some perspective on them or after the fact they seem less so.

Janet, I have no idea whether Stacey is OK or not.  All the information we get comes from her and we often don't get all of the story at the time.  Today is a good example.  I don't want to get her out of the hospital before the doctor's feel it is time for her to be dismissed.  However, the nurse told Pat that they can't keep her there if she doesn't want to be there.  However, it could have some impact on her health insurance if she leave before dismissal.  Your art judging sounds very daunting.  I have always thought judging something like art or a performance that didn't involve scores would be very difficult.  Too bad your cardiologists are so far away.  Do you have a local ER where he could be evaluated if he gets to feeling worse?  Sure hope you are not getting sick.

Hi Marilyn.

Judy, now that is cold.  Do your animals object going outside?  Learning Hebrew does sound daunting but hope you get to study it someday.

Etta Sue, know you will be glad to get the heat pump fixed to work properly.  I am also glat that it wasn't Ivalou who was in the accident.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, we're supposed to get a "dusting" of snow today - I wonder how much that "dusting" will be...

I've been giving the apartment some love this morning, and am about to head out for a moment or so to replenish my stores of a few things.

Then, it will be an afternoon of staying close to the apartment and maybe embroidering for a while. A friend of mine gave me such a powerful magnifying glass that sits on a stand (it was designed to help doctors diagnose patients), so that makes threading needles so much easier. Thus far, sewing and night time driving are most affected by the macular degeneration.

At any rate, may our Lord bless you "real good" today.

The first half of the night was restless and very uncomfortable, but I finally did get some sleep on toward morning.  I feel better today, and wish I didn't need to get out of the house at all, but I need to go get some meds for Beth that the doctor ordered, which medicare no longer pays.

Glad Larry and John were able to meet!  It's so good to have Christian friends who encourage us, how we need that!  (At least, I do.)

I need to get going, hope I won't have to be out long.  Still no word back from the doctor in Amarillo.  >:(

Well, I posted a long post and it vanished.  So will do a small one instead......

Weather is chilly with lots of rain.  I look forward to Spring when my arthritis will hopefully improve and this virus will finally end.  We have had it for weeks and it simply won't completely stop.

My fingers are hurting quite badly now, so will give you all the link to a site that was why I started the post.  My life is rather dull at the moment, so won't bore with details.  I found this interesting site and hope some of you might enjoy the videos.  It is a project of the University of Nottingham's Department of Theology and Religious Studies.  I have only watched two a yet, found Revelation video awesome.    So hope some of you check it out as worth your time....

Liz:  How interesting.  Thanks for the site.  I listened to Romans.  Sorry about your fingers feeling so poorly.  Do you have access to a hand bath appliance?  I bought one for Don when he had hand surgery and after his hand healed, he used it often - there are special blocks of wax that melt in it.  A temporary fix but it does work anytime we have hand aches.  I hope you can find one at your drug store.

Pastor Al:  Thank you for your comments on communion.  I would like to know what you would write about "the Grace of God".  Grace is heavily accented in my upbringing but not so in some churches.  Why the difference?  Thanks for any comments.

JudyB:  Try to search with Google on Learning Hebrew Free and there are a few sites and one in particular has Bible Hebrew or Modern Hebrew.  It says Free.  Good wishes with that search.  So glad that John and Larry were able to meet.

Janet

Hello, Liz; so sorry your long post went "poof!"  I would have enjoyed reading it.  I will check the site you gave us, and especially Revelations, as I am reading two books of prophecy right now, just finished another.  So interesting!  One I have is End Times in Chronological Order--can't wait to get into that one!

I got to use one of these wax hand baths once, and it felt SO good!

Time to get to bed.  I am feeling better, hope to have this kicked by tomorrow so I can accompany Beth for her CT scan, as she really wants me there.

G'Night!

Not much happening today....... Friends came over and helped us bring in some wood. We had a marvelous lunch.... cabbage roll soup, salad, home made bread, cookies & tea & coffee..... altogether a good day.

The wax hand baths sound interesting!!!  O must look it up.  No word on the parts ordered for the car or from the Shouldice Hospital.... oops that's a story for another day.

Good night. May God Bless all the dear people here on C.P.

Grace, Carol, as we know, is "free, unmerited favor." It's the "unmerited" part that's hard to receive.

We are just too  unacquainted with God to understand.  We tend to thlink of Him as like ourselves, but He is not.  He sompletely knows every event in time and space, and they are all under His complete control at every instant,  He is Lord of all - all the time. And He is holy - every thought and every action of His is perfect and totally rightious.  We, on the other hand, are completely unrighteous in all our thoughts/actions,  Considering these entirely different personalities, how could anything good come to us apart from God's grace?  As Paul said, "For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of  ourselves."  Even the faith is a gift of God.
The problem is that we love ourselves and do not naturally want things to be given to us in an unmerited manner.  We want to think WE lhad something to do with earning it.  But we don't.  It's by grace alone.

Al I wish there was a "like" button at times with some posts.  Yours are ones that I would "like".

This has been a cold day here I have felt chilly most of the day despite how I am dressed.  Finally put some poplar in the furnace, it is very dry, almost too dry as it burns quickly, however it gives off a lot of heat.  I am warm now and heading to bed very soon.  I am dogsitting over the weekend starting tomorrow morning.  So it is earlier to bed than normal.

I was on facebook and say that Karma and Nards were expecting rough weather.  Freezing rain and such.  Knowing John was heading that way I warned him.  He managed to get into a truck stop and is safe.  While he was sitting he saw a transformer blow.  So the truck stop had nor power for the fuel islands, lights or anything.  THey shut down and so the truckers sit with no washroom facilities..Not very nice, but nothing they can do.  There were a lot of accidents and trucks ditched in the area.  Lots to watch while he sat.  I am so thankful he is not dependent on outside means of heat and electricity.

Have a good night everyone!

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, friends,

It's to be a beautiful day here in Nashville, with temps going into the mid-40's.

Little Josie car has wanted me to keep my driver's side window down for a couple of weeks. Only restarting the car once or twice would reset the control so I could continue without snow/sleet/rain/cold wind accompanying me.  >:( So, I take her in today for repairs.

And, now for a gratitude - the cable guy came yesterday to work on some problems I had been having and when he left, I had high def TV in my bedroom also. My daughter and hubby had given me that little TV to make times in bed less lonely, and now it can be used as it was intended! So, as he and I talked, I learned he's a Christian and we witnessed to each other.

Such times for me have become my special "wonder moments." God provides and encourages us in so many different ways, and often at times we would least expect it!

May our Lord be with us today.

Hi everyone.  It is a beautiful morning here in Atlanta.  It was 32 degrees when I went to coffee and up to 37 degrees an hour later.  As far as I can tell we didn't have a flake of snow in our area although they did north of us.  The roads are dry here this morning but they had some trouble with black ice in locations around Atlanta.  Stacey was dismissed from the hospital even though the doctor didn't feel it was the best thing for her but she was so insistent (and apparently unpleasant) that he dismissed her and she was home by 10:30.  I didn't have to go get her as they apparently provided a voucher for a cab for the few blocks she had to go.  I expect to stay home all day today and that suits me fine. Nothing exciting to do here in my office other than some routine matters.

Ruth Ann, hope it was only a dusting of snow and not more.  The news made a big deal last evening about the snow in the northern part of the Georgia as if we had never seen snow before.  Have you ever used a magnifying glass had fits over your neck so that your hands are free to do your craft work?  That sounds like a very needed car repair as sure don't want the window down with such cold weather.

Janet, hope you had some hours at home yesterday to do what you wanted.  I did enjoy meeting John very much.

Liz, thanks for that link and I will check it out.  Hope you all get over that virus soon.

Carol, Pat has used the hand bath that uses parafin and it really helped her hands.  She hasn't used it in a long time.  I think hers just used regular wax and when her hands cooled it would peel off to be used again.

RuthV, I grew up on a farm and neighbors always helped each other. Nice that you had friends to help with the wood.

Al, great explanation of Grace.

Judy, I just hate to feel cold but often do in the mornings and by the time I am ready to rest after lunch my electric cover feels so good.  It sounds like John ran into some really bad weather.  Glad he is safely parked.  Hope it didn't take too long to get the power back on.

Al, a great explanation of grace.  I know what it means, in my head.  But that knowledge doesn't always spread to my feelings.  So thank you for reminding me once more not to depend on my feelings, but to simply accept the word of God.

I don't remember if I mentioned this before but I purchased the 'Halley's Bible Handbook' on Amazon.com a few months back.  I am really enjoying reading it as it explains things about the Bible that just reading the Bible doesn't explain.  It even gives you archeological finds about buildings and cities of times past.  It gives you a synopsis of the books of the Bible.  I read about Proverbs today.  Very interesting!

And Liz, I bookmarked the site you gave us.  Looks to be very interesting.  Something to do on a 'J' night!!

Grace.  I believe you have to have faith to have grace.  Grace is like electricity.  You can't see it but you know it is there!

Ivalou doesn't have to have rehab on her arm.  She said she forgot to ask if she could drive!!!!  I didn't say anything.  But she went on to say, it would be nice to drive to the drug store, to Dollar General, to put gas in her car...all less than two miles away.  Yes, it would be nice but she also needs to be safe in her driving.  Not saying she would do something intentional but I don't think her arms and legs are strong enough to drive and her reactions aren't quick enough.  I don't know!  I just let her know that anytime she needs to go somewhere, let me know...I can take her!

And she talked to Barb on the phone and was saying that she wants to come to Florida but we can't until after Feb 19.  And need to be back by March 7.  So maybe we are going to go to Florida after all!  I would love it!  Much after that time, it might be spring break when their family members can go visit.

According to the scales today, I need to get back onto eating better!  Just saying....

Janet

Hello, dear friends!  I love coming here in the morning, to be encouraged by hearing your testimonies of the goodness of our God.  Also to be able to share your sorrows and pray for you.

We are having lovely weather, too!  But they did add the warning to enjoy it now, because we will go back into the deep freeze by Monday.

I am better, still coughing some, but my throat is better and headache is gone; and I did sleep well last night.  So I am praising God for that!

And here is another HUGE praise report!  My youngest grandson Addison wanted to join the Air Force, but flunked his physical.  They found protein in his urine.  After more tests over several weeks, he went to a nephrologist early this week who told him and his mom that his kidneys were likely quite damaged by this time, with such high protein counts, plus blood in the urine.  And he said the Air Force would NOT take him with any kidney damage.  Addison was really depressed, telling his mom there was no use in his continuing college, might as well just work a "grunt job" because he wouldn't likely live very long anyway, etc.  I told Kerri (my daughter) that ONLY GOD could repair those kidneys, and they needed to PRAY and confess healing, not dwell on the problem!

Well......this morning I got the following email from Kerri:  Report on Addison:  ZERO PROTEIN!!!    ZERO BLOOD!!!  The doctor said, "It's a miracle!"  Of course, he wants all tests repeated in March, but I choose to believe he will get a completely clean bill of health then, too!  Our God is so awesome!!

I hope John got on his way and will stay safe; that Ruth Ann gets Josie's window to go up and down as it's supposed to do, that Stacey is doing better and her attitude will become sweeter, and that you all have a wonderful day.

Beth is having a CT scan of her head this afternoon, please pray they can pinpoint the cause of the awful headaches AND be able to take care of it.  Thanks!

Talk to you  all later---oh!  Thanks, Al, for the explanation of Grace.  What a mighty God we serve!

Etta Sue, were were typing at the same time--I will read your post now!

Brrrr freezing cold here this morning. Glad that I don't have a reason to go out. Although I do miss my walks. We have had a dusting of snow, just enough to cover the ice so that I don't where it is. They are predicting a snow storm this weekend so that should warm the ice to melt it a bit.

Al, I enjoyed your post on "grace". To know that though we did not earn, and that we can never earn God's grace by our good deeds and actions.  It is a gift and freely given and not to be taken for granted.

Etta Sue, I also have Halley's handbook. I have enjoyed reading through it. It has been tucked away in my library.  You reminded me to dig it out and study it more often. I have other Halley's bible helps as well. They are all so good.

Janet, what a wonderful praise report on your grandson.  We serve an awesome God. To him give praise and glory!

Made bread and hot dog rolls yesterday.  House cleaning is set for today.  Need to get my exercise in by doing something !   I have to give my hand a break from the cross stitch.  Starting to bother the arthritis in it.  A few days resting it and I will be good to go.

Saying hello to everyone  :hello:

May you feel His peace and love as you walk with hin today
