Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Judy, the hot dogs are shriveled up - did you get lost?

Jeanne----awwww.. :-\  too bad.;  Left-ver, shriveled hot dogs aren't the best lunch, either.   ;)

Fair week is winding down.  We went out to the barbecue this evening; Beth and John were there, too.  They are really enjoying being out and about and not having such hot weather.  It got pretty warm today, but  not too bad, yet.

I took a couple of my scrapbooks and entered them at the fair, as a set.  They are the photos of our trip to Guatemala and Costa Rica......and I won a grand champion on them!  :) :D

Some sad news here.  A couple of years ago, there was a bank robbery here in town.  It sounded suspicious, but nothing was done until recently......now FOUR young women have been charged with embezzlement, bank robbery, and making false statements to the FBI.  All of them have young children, and two of them attend our church!  (One lived in our house for several years!)  It is heartbreaking.  If convicted, they could spend over 30 years in prison.  Another matter for prayer, for sure.  Greed does terrible things to people, doesn't it?  All four were employees of the bank.

Hi folk:

Both Mel & I were a part of John's surprise birthday it was something that he did not expect to be sure.
Not only did we have a wonderful visit with Judy & John but we also met Ruth V and her husband and also we did have a visit with Paul & Pat.

Pat:   I enjoyed the video Learning to Lean.

Janet:  Lovely that John and Beth are spending time together.

I will sure be glad when the hot days give up and go away.  Presently Mel is out cutting the lawn and then he will be doing the neighbor's next door. On days like this it would be nice if the grass just did not grow.
We have some of what can be called the 4 o'clock flower which is just starting to bloom. This plant does have another name but what is meant by the name it opens up late afternoon for several hours .

Thank you to Carol, Pat, Ruth, and everyone else who wished me a happy birthday.  Oh my, how quickly the weather changes now!!! Only last Sunday I posted about the lack of humidity and the pleasant breeze.  Since Monday we have been in the midst of the worst heat wave (yet) of the summer of 2013.

I haven't been online much the last few days due to computer troubles.

Tonight, for example, I left the Facebook site to google something, and could not get back into facebook. Keep getting a notification re server problems, and yet I am on here!!

Jeanne. Sorry about the hot dogs. We turn left when we should have turned right I guess. Will have to buy you dinner when I get to Wilton next. LOL.
Janet i agree it does save a lot of money to do these projects myself but I think I'll pass on this kind of project again. Guess I'm not as young as I thought I was. LOL
Should wrap up the roof job tomorrow with the installation of required flashing and replacement of siding to the house. Hope every thing will be good as new then. Attacked some wasps tonight with a special concoction designed to encourage them to think another residence would be in their best interest. Maybe they wont bother me tomorrow. Got stung 4 times today and they got Judy once. Well that's all for now folks Gods blessings on you all.

Hi everyone.  I got up before sunup this morning but now the sun it peeping over the horizon and it is to be another warm day.  Yesterday I ended up taking the new laptop we had purchased back.  As I started to put it together I wasn't working correctly and after about two hours of hassle, plus some the night before, we decided it wasn't worth it.  I am going to try working on the old desktop somemore as can't hurt it since I doesn't work now.  I have a couple of things in mind and will bring it into my office where I can have an ethernet hookup for internet as have lost it via wi-fi on Pat's desktop.  I will go to coffee at the Senior Center shortly and then we are meeting at a friends house to play domino's this afternoon and then will all go out to eat.  So it will be a full day.

John, thanks for the update.  I didn't realize you had to put on a new roof as that is a big job especially in 90 degree weather.  It sounds like your timing was great.  Wasp stings are no fun.  Hope the spraying takes care of them.

Janet, I am not sure on the low sodium but do know my friend with the prostate cancer now spread to his bones is to start a new round of radiation (I think it was radiation and not chemo) and his sodium is low.  He was told the radiation will not work well if you have low sodium so they are working to increase his.  My doctor felt mine is still stable, even though low, and he will monitor with another blood test in six weeks.  Wish I could help you with your computer although must admit I am losing interest in doing a lot on the computer and very tired of dealing with computer and printer problems here.  Nice that John can take Beth to the fair as that must be such a pleasant change from the home.  She will be tired when he leaves but a good tired with lots of memories to last until his next visit.  Congrats on your grand champion scrapbook.

Ruth, when it gets real hot and dry down this way (something that hasn't happened so far this summer) our grass just stops growing.  However, this year it needs mowing every two weeks.

Bonnie, it sounds like the Facebook server was the problem and not your computer or internet service if you were able to access other sites.  Stay cool.

Judy, when I moved to this house, which has vinyl siding, I had them come and put vinyl on all the exposed wood around the windows and other places, except the doors.  Even my sun porch is fixed in vinyl and is my shed out back.    I just have to have the house pressure washed occasionally to take care of the mildew.  Otherwise it looks like it did when we moved in and will never need painting.  I replaced the roof in the last year or so and don't expect much in the way of outside maintenance to be needed as long as we live here.  While tiring all the work this week is probably a welcome change from the truck driving.  Just a change of pace is often helpful.

JohnB

Phee Job done. Just a bit of clean up work left to do. Thing I will back to work on Mon to have a rest. But I don't have to worry about the roof leaking anymore. That is a comforting thought, especially because I,m on the road a lot and that leaves Judy to look after things on the home front. I must admit Im feeling joints and muscles I forgot I had. Think I will turn in soon. Blessings every one.

Hi everyone.  We actually had a day yesterday without rain and that was very enjoyable.  We did have a nice time playing domino's with our friends and then ate at a Mexican restaurant but were home before 7 pm.  I was so tired I went to bed an hour later and am really washed out this morning.  I don't plan on doing much today although would like to get started on Pat's desktop work but that may have to wait until another day.

John, glad your roof job is done and it is a nice feeling to not have to worry about roof leaks.

BonnieA

Hi Larry.  It sure seems as if it was the facebook server that was the problem.  I was able to go back in the next morning.

John and Judy.  Glad your roofing work is done, and especially glad that John's surprise party was a success.

We had two major rainstorms last night.  One around 5:30 that was so severe the bus supervisor radioed his staff and recommended they pull over when they saw a safe spot to do so and wait the worst of it out.  The thunder and lightning seemed extremely close!!  Stop lights were not working, lots of trees down, and a wire down on one of the busiest streets in the city.
The sheet lightning on my way home from my evening clients was very pretty.

Then, around 12:30 in the morning I awoke to the sound of more heavy raini and thunder.  Looks like we may get some more rain today.  On the positive side it has brought a respite from the drastic humidity we've been having lately.

For the last couple of years I've felt deprived - no "real" thunderstorms to speak of.  Well this summer is making up for that!!!  Already four times "severe thunderstorms" have arrived here and stuck around for what felt like a loooong time.  Three of those storms have brought what seemed like lightning strikes in the immediate area - flash and sound just about simultaneous.  :yikes: When the rain comes with strong winds  I remember the big drawback of using open windows and fans for cooling the house.    :D

We have had the nicest weather I ever remember for Fair Week!  So nice not to have it beastly hot or the wind blowing a gale.  Today is another nice one--cloudy and wonderfully cool.  Thank you, God.  I know there have been lots of storms, I see on TV about floods, hail, lightning strikes, etc.  So I really feel blessed, weather-wise.

Larry, sorry you are feeling washed out today, and glad you can do only what you feel up to doing.  I am pretty tired today, too, after a hectic week, but am off to Guymon for the continuation of the drawing class, as soon as my friend Dee arrives to ride with me.  I have already prayed about it, so expect much better results from today's efforts.   :)

John, I understand going back to work for a rest!  Sometimes our work at home is much more tiring than the job.  But that 'stuff' has to get done, and sometimes there is only us to do it!

Jeanne, enjoy the storms, but hope you don't get wet from leaving the windows open!  You do live in such a beautiful area.

I really miss those who used to post and no longer do.

Oops!  There's Dee!  Gotta run!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Here's hoping all are well today (or as well as possible!). :)

I'm about to leave to take 2 ladies to lunch today. One is celebrating her birthday, and the other is a mutual friend (85 years old) who doesn't get out much. So, we three ladies should have fun. The birthday gal suggested Mexican food, and there's a one of those restaurants not too far from the older lady's home. (yum! yum!)

Y'all have a wonderful day.

I went to Guymon, Oklahoma again today to the art class I'm taking, and spent the day drawing.  And am happy to report that both the instructor and I saw good progress in my drawing!

Sad news......my sweet 96 1/2 years young friend fell yesterday and fractured her pelvis in four places.  Of course, she is in the hospital.  I went to see her this evening and she knew me and was happy to see me.  Her daughter is hoping to catch her doctor tomorrow to ask what Maxine's prognosis may be.  He was not on call this weekend, so another doctor saw her.

I went to bed and couldn't sleep so here I am and am really hoping I can soon go back to bed and get some sleep!

Hi everyone.  I have my grand daughter here for the summer.  Kimi is 13 and has the care-free-ness of youth.  We are up and running today, New Church, with a pastor who was at our old church whom we have known for 17 years.  We didn't go there before for other reasons. We have always loved John's ministry.  Just hope the music doesn't turn My husband off too much!!!

I will be back this afternoon with the new devotional!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  i think we are going to have a warm day again today and probably a chance for rain this afternoon.  Yesterday evening several areas around Atlanta got 3-4 inches of rain in a short time so flooding of certain places was likely again.  We had some thunder but don't think we had any rain.  We are going to church this morning and then taking a couple out to eat at the fabulous buffet we found a few weeks ago.  Sure hope the food is as good today as it was then as am anticipating a delightful meal and good time with friends.  We will pick them up after our church and theirs at their home, which is close to us.  I have just now started to install Windows 7 on Pat's desktop as have given up on the XP.  I was happy to find her computer was compatible with Windows 7.  So I will be spending several hours in getting her computer set back up with the new software as have to re-install all of the programs and files, printers, etc.  I have done the new install quite a few times so know what to do. I have it set up here in my office so just have to swivel my chair to get to it.  I will take my time over the next day or so as it doesn't have to be all done today.

Ruth Ann, hope you had a wonderful lunch and a great visit with your friends.  I bet they appreciate your taking them out to eat. I did check out the link for the info on the low sodium and see I have a couple of conditions that is probably contributing to it for me and that is the congestive heart failure and third stage kidney disease.  My heart doctor is watching things very closely.

Janet, so sorry to hear of the fall that your friend experienced.  The bones get brittle  and fragile as we age.  Glad you enjoyed the drawing class. I bet you are a great student and already bring a lot of knowledge and skill to the process.  Hope you were able to get some good sleep last night.

Judy, Kimi will help keep you young this summer.  Hope the new church works out for you.  It sounds like your churches are going through the same thing as ours in terms of music.

Janet

Judy, enjoy Kimi while you can.  How I miss those days with Abby!  She is into so many grown-up things now that she has no time to spend with Grandma.   :(  But she is calling me more now, so I treasure what I can get.

Larry, we are having nicer weather continuing.  Hope the buffet is good again today.  Beth and John asked us if we wanted to meet them at the Downtown cafe after church, but we got out a little after 11:00 and they went to a different church, which usually gets out about 12:00, so we came on home.  I had a real scare with my computer last night.  There is a virus thing called ATV that keeps popping up, and it said I had all kinds of "infections" so I clicked for it to correct them---and it wiped out all my personal information--even my membership and password on here!  I was SO frustrated (and felt so stupid, too).  But after I went to bed, while lying there unable to sleep, the words 'system restore' popped into my mind.  Do I got up and did a system restore--and I'm back!  Whew!  Computers still scare me.

I plan to go to My Father's House in Hugoton tonight to listen to a gal talk about her recent trip to Israel.  Should be interesting.

We had an invasion of moths in Darrel's closet.  He noticed a place on one of his pairs of dress pants, asked me what it was, and it was moth holes!  There were numerous spots of them on thos pants, and then we saw that a number of his tee shirts are being eaten, too.  So we got moth balls and put them in there, and I put some in my closet, too, just in case.  But I can barely tolerate that smell!  :P  So I took them out of my closet this morning and put them in the coat closet in the garage.  But I noticed the blouse I wore to church this morning stank of moth balls, so now my problem is how do I get rid of that smell from my closet?? I have the closet door open and the bedroom window, too.  We will leave the moth balls in his closet a few more days, but I hadn't had any damage to my clothes.  Oh, my.  Never expected this problem.

John just called, so I will run to town and eat lunch with Beth and him.

Hi everyone.  Am checking in late this evening rather than in the morning as am working on Pat's desktop and have made a lot of progress. I was able to install Windows 7 and now and the wireless is again working.  I have several programs installed, a few of her games and have started the file restore from the Carbonite Account I have for her computer.  The Carbonite process says it will take a few days to complete as there are a lot of files.    I was happy to find Pat's computer was compatible with Windows 7.  We had a great time with our friends at lunch and the food was equally as good as the first time we visited.  The only problem was I got full too fast.  It has been a good day all around as we had a good church service this morning with the little Bible School children singing a couple of songs for us.  I have decided not to sing the hymns as it takes so much energy and that helps a lot.  I just follow along or close my eyes and listen to the words and sign along in my head.

Gord, sure hope Noreen can start her physical therapy soon so that it will help the pain.  She has had a terrible time and thus so have you.  Glad your friends are rallying to help with meals.  I know who much that was appreciated for us when several of our church friends brought us delicious meals.  Of course this time on the hip Pat's sister was here and she is a good cook but she appreciated a break in meal preparation a few times when the meals were brought in.

Marilyn, we have been making our own laundry soap for several months now and find it works perfectly well and is so much cheaper just requiring two ingredients and hot water.  Pat also prepares this and we take it to Stacey to help with her expenses.

Janet, I am proud of you thinking of the system restore.  Don't ever fall for those popup like that as they are usually scams to get you to pay them for a supposed program.  Just go to Ctrl + Alt +Delete and the open the task manager and close the program from there as sometimes even clicking on the X in that popup and install mallware or viruses.  Glad you got your computer back operating.  Bad news on the moths and I have always hated the smell of moth balls.  I don't think we have ever had a problem but remember mother using them on the farm so can still recall the smell.

Marilyn

Larry I am having a problem get the wireless to work on my Netbook and this computer. I have forgotten my password and also we have a different wireless routed than when I first got this new computer. This Win 8 works on both wireless and wired. I can also use wireless  ob my cell phone but I can't log-in without my password. My question is How do I change my password?
