:) Quote of the Week :thumbsup:

In his death Jesus demonstrated God's love for us
in the fullest possible way,
achieved total victory over evil,
and made our salvation possible.
He was not merely a good man who died
as an example of virtue or meekness;
he was the perfect God who took our
burdens of sin and guilt and
made them his burden.
His death was not an example to inspire us
but a sacrifice to save us!

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Explains Why He Must Die
John 12:20-36 NLT

  Some Greeks who had come to Jerusalem for the Passover celebration paid a visit to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee. They said, "Sir, we want to meet Jesus."  Philip told Andrew about it, and they went together to ask Jesus.

  Jesus replied, "Now the time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory.  I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.  Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.  Anyone who wants to be my disciple must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.

  "Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, 'Father, save me from this hour'? But this is the very reason I came!  Father, bring glory to your name."

Then a voice spoke from heaven, saying, "I have already brought glory to my name, and I will do so again."  When the crowd heard the voice, some thought it was thunder, while others declared an angel had spoken to him.

  Then Jesus told them, "The voice was for your benefit, not mine.  The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out.  And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself."  He said this to indicate how he was going to die.

  The crowd responded, "We understood from Scripture that the Messiah would live forever. How can you say the Son of Man will die? Just who is this Son of Man, anyway?"

  Jesus replied, "My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going.  Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you will become children of the light."

After saying these things, Jesus went away and was hidden from them.

   The crowd could not believe what Jesus was saying about the Messiah.  They were waving palm branches for a victorious Messiah who would set up a political, earthly kingdom that would never end.

   From their reading of certain Scriptures, they thought the Messiah would never die (Pss. 89:35-26, 110:4, Isa. 9:7).  Other passages, however, showed that he would (Isa. 53:5-9).

   Jesus' words did not mesh with their concept of the Messiah.  First he had to suffer and die--then he would one day set up his eternal Kingdom.

   What kind of Messiah, or Savior are you seeking?  Beware of trying to force Jesus into your own mold--he won't fit.

Everyone was saying yesterday...'How can it snow?  It is such a nice sunny warm day today!'  Well, it is snowing big time.  When I got up at 7:20am there was barely any snow on the ground and you had to look hard to see it was snowing.

And hour and a half later and all is white!!  Beautiful white.  I am still going to go to church and then the local Lions Club is having their Palm Sunday Pancake Breakfast.  That is always good and then I will be home and watch it snow from the inside.

Prediction of up to 10½ inches of white stuff.  Just praying that the electric stays on!!

Post by: Larry Hanna on March 24, 2013, 09:13:20 AM
Hi everyone.  It is another rainy, chilly and dark morning where I live in Georgia.  As of now I don't plan on going out today. At this point I don't plan on going to church.  I had thought about going to see Stacey but the weather is suppose to be bad most of the day and she indicated she would like for me to be there tomorrow when she has the arteriogram.  She got somemore bad news yesterday morning when the vascular doctor was looking at her foot he found the toe next to the big one had turned black overnight and will also have to be removed.  The wound care person later saw there is a black spot starting on her middle toe so she is preparing herself that she may lose both those toes this week.  They have increased the strength of the pain medication but she is still suffering.  She hasn't called yet this morning.

Marilyn, it has been quite a few years since I could use a treadmill with a stress test but do remember having one and had no side effects for the isotopes.  Your description sounds like the one I had however, The last two or three have been where they chemically stressed the heart since I am paced as well as not being able to tolerate the treadmill.  I don't think it is anything you need worry about.  Too bad you can't do the test in one day.

Janet, good advice about drinking the water.  I had forgotten about having hold my arms above my head.

Etta Sue, cats can take good care of themselves for a day or two.  Hope the pancake breakfast was enjoyable.  Thanks for the devotional thoughts for this week.  Hope you don't have too much snow today.

Ruth, Stacey lives about an hour from us.  However, there are quite a few miles of Interstate highway and sometimes the traffic is terrible but try to so during non-rush hour periods.

Janet, it sounds like you are describing the chemical stress test where you lay on the table being monitored and at one point they insert the chemical and it does make you feel a bit sick but it quickly passes.  The last one of those I had last year was better as they were using a different substance.  Sorry about your peach trees and the freeze.

Carol, at least you are aware of the hazard areas on your drive back to Denver.  Your young neighbor isn't being very realistic and you are right about the expense of the cigarettes.  I wonder if he has attempted to negotiate with the hospital on the amount he owes?

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/when-i-survey-the-wondrous-cross.mid)
(Click to hear music)

May I never boast except
in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 6:14

Words: Isaac Watts, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, 1707. Charles Wesley reportedly said he would give up all his other hymns to have written this one.
Music: "Hamburg," Lowell Mason, 1824; first appeared in The Boston Handel and Haydn Society Collection of Church Music, third edition, 1825

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o'er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Thank you, Etta Sue, for this week's devotional.  Truly sobering thoughts to consider as we are reminded of our Lord's sacrifice.

A few moments ago I watched as my neighbor hooked her Tracker to her grandson's truck and began a new phase of her life.  Her husband passed away in November, and her family have been wanting her to be closer to them, in Washington, so she has found a little house in town near her daughter, and is moving north.  Yesterday she had a yard sale, took "left overs" to the Hospice Thrift Store, and packed her Tracker and grandson's truck with as much as would fit, and they are on their way. She and grandson will be back in about 3 weeks, with a moving truck, for all the big stuff and that will be it.

The first of May I will have new neighbors.  And so goes life.  People come into your life and then leave to go in new directions and others come to fill their place.  I will miss Laura, but I know she will be happily ensconced in her new home, with family nearby.  It is best for her.

Thanks Etta Sue for the timely reminder in this week's devotional.

Larry, I'm so sorry about Stacey.  It reminds me of the many times in the dialysis unit with Jack seeing folks who suffered from diabetes being told the sad news of more and more of their toes and/or feet having to be amputated.  It was so sad.

Hello to everyone who may stop by this week!

We had a little bit of rain yesterday, then it got colder and began to snow.  This morning, everything was white, but not a lot of snow.  And now it has mostly melted!

Beth called and said she thought it best not to come take her to church today as it was so cold and icy.

We went to church, then to the new restaurant in town.  Darrel hadn't been there before.  It sure wasn't anything special!  But we didn't hav e to cook at home.

Larry, I am continuing my prayers for you and yours.  So sorry about more bad news for Stacey.  :(

Janice, so good to see your post today.  You are special to this ol' gal!

Jane, I sure hope your new neighbors are as nice as Laura is.

Larry, I'll continue to pray for you all...this is just so sad.

We are having sunshine today, but still feels cold to me.  I can't wait for some warm weather to warm up my house and old bones. :)

Thanks for the devotional, Etta Sue, and Pat, for the graphic.  Our Passover Lamb.... thank you, Jesus.

It is so far a beautiful day here in the north!  I woke up to a wonderful RED sky, it looked so beautiful! Thing is a red sky is to us a warning....I turned the radio on and heard that we are to get rain today.  With the amount of snow we have in the bush that isn't a good thing.  The runoff will be high.

John and I were out and about yesterday, and we saw a young moose in a field.  I didn't have my camera with me, so used my Blackberry to take a picture.  Unfortunately the moose is too small in the pictures and enlarging it didn't work either.  I had a small point and shoot that I kept with me all the time.  It quit a couple of months ago so I am down to my Cannon.  I will have to have it with me all the time from now on as well I guess.  We also saw deer.  the animals are on the move, spring is here even though we have snow.  Drivers need to take care driving at night!!!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Thou art the Everlasting Word,
The Father's only Son,
God manifestly seen and heard,
The heaven's beloved One;

Chorus:
Worthy, O Lamb of God, art Thou,
That every knee to Thee should bow!

In Thee, most perfectly expressed
The Father's glories shine:
O the full Deity possessed,
Eternally divine!

Chorus:

True image of the Infinite,
Whose essence is concealed;
Brightness of uncreated light,
The heart of God revealed.

Chorus:

But the high myst'ries of His Name
An angel's grasp transcend;
The Father only (glorious claim!)
The Son can comprehend.

Chorus:

Yet loving, Thee, on whom His love
Ineffable doth rest,
Thy members all, in Thee, above,
As one with Thee are blest!

Chorus:

Throughout the universe of bliss,
The centre Thou, and Sun,
Th'eternal theme of praise is this,
To heaven's beloved One.

Larry, I am glad your faith is strong, with the latest on Stacey's condition.  It must be so hard for you and Pat to keep up your spirits with each day seeming to get worse.  Prayers for you and yours.

Janet, thanks for the latest stories.  You are a very good interviewer, and your readers appreciate it!  Did Beth get new glasses yet?

We had terrible winds here Saturday...sustained in the mid 40's and long gusts to 60 mph.  In fact the winds blew a train off the tracks west of here about 50-60 miles.  Link for the story:
http://www.cnjonline.com/news/windblowstrainofftracksnearfortsumner.html

A large building downtown had its roof rolled back. The wind blew some of my stuff around on the patio.  My wooden bench which my brother made for me blew to the other side of the patio, turned upside down, and lodged under the porch swing.  My doggie igloo was moved several feet away, and a few other things upside down.  I consider myself lucky though, it could have been worse.  It was much calmer yesterday, but was very cold.  Wind chill was 6º so I did not go to church.  Elaine said the church was packed, only one combined service for Palm Sunday. She plays the organ. We usually have two services and I always go to the 8:30, when I am able to go.

Carol, I hope you and Don had or will have a safe trip back home.  I feel bad when I hear of young folks smoking, it can be so dangerous.  Our son died of a stroke at age 50, and I feel sure it was caused by his smoking.  He wouldn't listen to us though, way back then, when we tried to convince him that it was dangerous.

Greetings to all who enter here today!  ~Janice

Morning here and children are playing tag until the bus comes.  This school system starts late as our childrens school began before 8 am.  Don is trying unsuccessfully to get the laptop working and there is a hardware problem.

Loved the beautiful picture of the lamb.  Thank you, Pat!!!!!!

Most of our snow has melted, and it is still thawing temps, so the last will likely disappear today.

Janice, I am sorry about those terrible winds!  I dislike windy weather more than any other kind, but here we get a lot of it.

I continue to be disappointed in the Bible series.....parts are good, but so many things don't follow the Word closely enough.

No, they haven't even yet taken Beth for her eye exam, so it will probably be at least two more weeks without glasses for her.   :(

I injured myself at the gym on Friday and paid dearly for it, was in a lot of pain the rest of the day, all night and half of Saturday.  Lots of Ibuprofen and water, very little sleep.  Today Kristi had me doing things to correct the problem.  She is SO knowledgeable, and I really appreciate her.

Thanks for the comments on the stories.  I have an appointment for another interview tomorrow, with a fellow who was the Jr. High principal here for many years.

Larry, may you be blessed today, and not get any more bad news for Stacey.

What a night!  First I got an email saying that the two preachers from my old church has video of their sermons on the web.  I watched one and a half of them.  Danny still has it!

Then, I greased myself up with Vicks and went to bed.  For two nights, I have been wheezing.  I cough and I wheeze a different tune.  I have never had a cold like this one before.  I finally got up and played Solitaire on the laptop and went back to bed.  I think I slept good then.  But it was really late when I did get up.

It had been snowing all night long.  What snow we had yesterday morning, melted.  But we have a whole lot more now.  I opened the side door...I have about 2 feet of snow on the deck.  I went to the back door and there is a 3 foot drift inches away from that door!  Any snow at all and I can't get out the front door.  So I called Jim, Bob's brother, at his office.  Alicia, the receptionist, said that Jim was out at Bob's this morning and not to worry about the cats.  Jim will keep an eye on them.  Whew!  Even if I get my drive open, I still can't get out!

It is still snowing as I type but tomorrow it is to start being warmer!!  And all of this is to melt!

I thought Tony and Charlene were in Florida.  I got a picture from Charlene of snow.  So I called Tony.  He doesn't go to Florida until THIS Friday!!  So he was at work.

So sorry to hear that Stacey may loose more toes.

Outside my window today is white and the American Flag across the road is standing straight out to the southeast!!

Hi everyone.  I am just back from being at the hospital to visit with Stacey.  I spent a couple of hours with her as she awaited two hours for them to come and take her for the arterial gram, which could take from 1 to three hours or so.  So I decided to come home and am now resting.  Everyday it seems the news gets worse for her.  The gangrene has started in all of the other toes on her foot and they will be removing all of the toes and back into the portion of the foot behind the toes.  I don't know when this will be done but doubt they will wait too long.  All this also probably could be impacted from the test results today.  She seems to have accepted that this has to be done.  It is cold and windy here today but at least no snow.

Hi everyone, it is a very chilly but nice morning here in Georgia.  It is suppose to only get up into the 50's later today.  Our main activity today is another trip to Atlanta as Pat has a 1 pm appointment with the surgeon to check again on her incision.  The therapist yesterday, and Pat agrees, think things are looking much better and sure hope the doctor agrees.  I doubt that we will see Stacey today, although haven't talked with her this morning so not sure what might be happening with her today.  Just the hour trip down and back is very tiring for Pat and also getting in an out of the car a couple of times.

Pat, hope your trip to London to meet with Ross finds him willing to listen to the plan of salvation.

Don, I voted for Steve.  Is there a prize at the end of the contest.

This world is not my home,
I'm just a passing thru,
My treasures are laid up
Somewhere beyond the blue;
The angels beckon me
From heaven's open door.
And I can't feel at home
In this world any more.

O Lord, You know,
I have no friend like You,
If heaven's not my home,
Then, Lord, what will I do?
The angels beckon me
From heaven's open door.
And I can't feel at home
In this world any more.

They're all expecting me,
And that's one thing I know
My Savior pardoned me
And now I onward go:
I know He'll take me thru
Tho I am weak and poor,
And I can't feel at home
In this world any more.

O Lord, You know,
I have no friend like You,
If heaven's not my home,
Then, Lord, what will I do?
The angels beckon me
From heaven's open door.
And I can't feel at home
In this world any more.

Just up in gloryland
We'll live eternally
The saints on ev'ry hand
Are shouting victory,
Their songsd of sweetest praise
Drift back from heaven's shore,
And I can't feel at home
In this world any more.

O Lord, You know,
I have no friend like You,
If heaven's not my home,
Then, Lord, what will I do?
The angels beckon me
From heaven's open door.
And I can't feel at home
In this world any more.

I have memories of that being sung in four part harmony in our home in Toronto.  Those were the days!!!!

We expected rain yesterday, thankfully it didn't materialize.  We are having a slow melt this year so far.  This is a good thing, we are avoiding the problem of flooding.

John is heading States side again He will be home Friday, truckers don't get holidays off. He has a trainee again.  This is a job he enjoys, he loves teaching drivers how to drive safely.

Have to run, have a great day everyone.

My g-nephew and girl friend got my drive open with his 4-wheeler.  Then asked me while I was standing at the door if there was anything else that needed to be done.  Yes, can you shovel me a path so I can get to the drive?  He looked at me like I was dumb.  Then he got his shovel and started to come up on the deck.  He stopped and said, 'Here's where all your snow is!!'  Yep, I told him so!  So he shoveled me a path.

Only the front half of my drive needed opened.  The rest was bare to the pavement.  It did seem all the snow landed at my back door and side door.

So I got up today and went to the pool and then lunch at Arby's.  I got the chlorine washed off my body and washed my hair.  Now waiting for it to dry so I can cat sit again today.

Tonight is Meal On Us at church so I plan to go there.

The heat pump isn't working.  Probably froze up outside!!

They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Revelation 7:14

Words & Music: Lewis E. Jones, 1899

Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you o'er evil a victory win?
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide;
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow.
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

Good day everyone.  We have a sunny day here, snow is melting nicely and our friend is working in the bush harvesting maple sap.

Soon Al Moak will be moving to Texas.  Let's keep him in prayer as he prepares for this new chapter in his life.

Have a great day folks!

Hi everyone on a bright and beautiful Georgia morning, but a rather chilly one.  I plan on staying home the rest of the day.  The three trips to Atlanta in three days with another tomorrow has taken a toll on my stamina although have rested well and will get more rest today.  The news regarding Stacey just gets worse and worse.  The arterialgram done on Monday showed blockages up and down the entire femoral artery in her leg, which undoubtedly was the cause of the gangrene.  So tomorrow at noon they have her scheduled for another arterial gram at which time they will see if they can balloon the artery and also they will remove the remaining four toes on her foot.  If they can't successfully balloon the artery then they will have to remove her leg.  This morning she was told they wanted to do an echo cardiogram before the surgery, which is to be done this afternoon,and the surgery will definitely be done tomorrow and is schedule for noon.  At least we won't have to fight the rush hour traffic to get down to the hospital.  Pat is planning on going with me tomorrow.  She has definitely been much stronger and is walking much better.  She saw the doctor yesterday and will see him again in a month and did get a good report and I see a noticeable improvement with her this week .

Don, do hope your grandson wins the prize as sure that would be very exciting for him.

Etta Sue, glad you are able to get out and that your g-nephew shoveled the path for you and opened your driveway.  I really dislike heat pumps, although we have one for the upstairs room but don't have to use it now as we don't go up there.

Judy, thanks for the hymns.  At least this isn't a real long trip for John and he is doing what he likes to do.

Please, God!  Take this cold away from me.  Four nights now and I haven't been sleeping well.  I do believe it's time for this cold to be gone!

'Meal On Us' was a success.  Meatloaf, mac and cheese, broccoli cole slaw and a pink strawberry cup cake.  Wonderful.

It is bright and sunny here and the snow is slowly disappearing.  Looks like palomino ponies in the fields.  The birds are loving it being able to eat whatever is in the grass.  Inky is watching Kitty TV as I am typing.  She loves watching everything that moves from her kitty perch!

After shutting off the heat pump for 3-4 hours yesterday, last evening, it worked fine and still is.

So terribly sorry to hear this news about Stacey.

Larry I will continue o pray for Stacy. Diabetes is an is an awful disease. The disease can do so much harm to ones body if one doesn't take good care of themselves. I'm not saying  that Stacy hasn't taken good care of herself. She has had so many health issues to deal with and this one  has really taken its toll o her. I pray for her peace of mind as she goes into surgery and has the atrial-gram today. I pray they won't have to take her leg.

Hi everyone.  I am going to be brief this morning and just check in for now.  We are ready to leave for the hospital for what could be a very long day.  The surgery for Stacey is now set for 1 pm rather than noon.  Pat is going with me this morning.  We are taking our lunch so we don't have to do all the extra walking at the hospital to get to the cafeteria and back.  I will try to get back later today to let you know what has happened.  If I don't just know that I was too tired to do so.

Thank you all for your continued prayers.  This is going to be a very difficult day but God will see us through it.

Praying fr Stacey, Larry and Pat.

What a bright sunny day in Indiana.  Not a cloud in the sky and quite breezy...the American Flag is standing straight out to the southeast.

Today I am taking Ivalou to get her massage, then we will get a bite to eat somewhere.  Once I am back home, I will get in my car and go do cat duty at Kitty's house.  I need a few things at Dollar General and then back home.

I need to do laundry sometime.

I did get some Mucinex at the drug store.  Finally some relief from the chest congestion.

Words by Johnson Oaktman, Jr.
Music by George C. Hugg

There's not a friend like the lowly Jesus.
No, not one!  No, not one!
None else could heal all our soul's diseases,
No, not one!  No, not one!

Chorus
Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There's not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one!  No, not one!

No friend like Him is so high and holy,
No, not one!  No, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly,
No, not one!  No, not one!

Chorus
Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There's not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one!  No, not one!

There's not an hour that He is not near us,
No, not one!  No, not one!
No night so dark but His love can cheer us,
No, not one!  No, not one!

Chorus
Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There's not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one!  No, not one!

Did ever saint find this Friend forsake him?
No, not one!  No, not one!
Or sinner find that He would not take him?
No, not one!  No, not one!

Chorus
Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There's not a friend like the lowly Jesus,
No, not one!  No, not one!

Was e'er a gift like the Savior given?
No, not one!  No, not one!
Will He refuse us a home in heaven?

Chorus

It went well for me at the hospital this morning, My Dr. was there and she said I did amazing on the treadmill part. Then they sent me to the cafeteria with a coupon to eat fatty foods before the imaging took place. I had 2 slices of real bacon ,1 scrambled egg, a small scone, yogurt, whole milk, and some string cheese. 503 calories. Yikes. I knew this day was going to mess up my food intake.

I go back tomorrow for the resting part of the stress test they are going to chemically ( Radioactive Isotope) stress my heart/ after then inject the stuff they want me to go eat and come back an hour later and the will put me through the imaging machine again, That's the part that scare me. That bed they had me on today had a thing with a pillow on it for my head and it had a ridge on the end that was right below my neck on my upper shoulders and it sure did hurt.

I didn't get to tell the tech until after it was all over. He is supposed to change that tomorrow so that I will be more comfortable. They took 512 pictures today and there will be that many again tomorrow.

Praying for Stacy, Larry and Pat.

As the Supreme Court ponders same sex "marriage"  :uglystupid: the ground is falling away in Washington State.  A message?

One of the interviews with gays quoted something about recognizing "holy matrimony" - I want to know how anything that is described in the Bible as "an abomination unto the Lord" can be called holy!  And one woman complaining that because the federal laws didn't recognize her "marriage", when her partner died she had to pay $300,000 plus in inheritance tax.  How much must that inheritance amount to?

How long will the Lord stand for this?

No, Jeanne, not a coincidence at all!  I just read two books, Israel Omen 1 and Israel Omen 2, which show the parallels between when the government does something totally against the Word, and then we have catastrophic weather, etc.  The second volume is all about since O has been in office, and warns that we are in for a horrible event to come!

My mom's sister used to live on Whidby Island, where the ground is falling away!

And O is so determined to take our guns away and leave us defenseless.  Using the tragedy in Sandy Hook is just beyond the pale, in my opinion.  >:(

I need to be typing up another story, just haven't been able to make myself get with it!

THE OLD RUGGED CROSS (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/theoldruggedcross.mid)
(Click to hear music)

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He'll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I'll share.

Hi everyone.  It is 9 am and both Pat and I are still resting from a good nights sleep.  I am going to share the email I sent to family and some local friends last evening after we had talked to the doctor when Stacey's surgery was over.

Stacey made it through the surgery of about 3 1/2 hours.  They had to take care of a blockage in the lower abdomen that the doctor had to fix and then were able to to balloon and stent her lower leg in the one of the three vessels in the lower leg.  The other two vessels were blocked and he couldn't do anything with them but said he was able to get good blood flow to her foot.  He then amputated the remainder of her toes up to the mid arch.  There is another problem with infection that he doesn't think is related to the foot and they need to find what is causing the white cell count to be so high as ist is running 18 to 20 thousand and she has been on antibiotics since she has been the hospital the last nine days.

She was in  recovery for an hour or so and then was taken back  to her room.  He said she will eventually be able to bear weight on the heal of her foot, which is great news.  She will be here for another week or so and then go to rehab.  We were gone yesterday for eleven hours.  Pat got along well but we both immediately went to bed as soon as we got home.  I haven't decided whether I will go back down to be with her for a couple of hours today or wait until tomorrow and just try to rest today.

Marilyn, as Jane said the chemical stress test isn't to be feared but hope the tech makes you more comfortable.  Glad you did so well on the walking part but not surprised since you do a lot of walking.

Janet, agree about how something can be Holy when it goes against what the Bible says.  I head a minister and someone else debate this issue a couple of days ago and the minister didn't believe that gay marriage was wrong.  I don't know what church he represented.  I wonder if North Korea is what is going to bring us great trouble either in trying to attack us directly or cause us to get involved in another war. Certainly hope I am way off base here.

Larry, thank you for the news about Stacey.  It is good news that they are able to get blood flow to her foot and so the surgery didn't have to be any greater.  I pray they'll be able to find and cure the infection that remains.  It must have been a very long and very stressful day for you and Pat.

So many prayers and concerns today.  May God bless you all.

I do believe this cold is slowly going away!  I think I am among the living again!

I got an email from Kitty.  They were spending the night at Jackson, MS, last night.  May go by Sikeston, MO, where they have a farm...if not they should be home late this evening.

I got an email from Tony and Charlene...they must have left in the wee hours of the morning for Jacksonville Beach, Florida, pulling a trailer with their cycle in it behind their car.  Charlene's aunt, uncle and cousin is in Jacksonville Beach.  She also sent me a link to Glympse.  I checked it out and I could see a map with an arrow (Tony and Charlene) inching through Atlanta.  It is a free app so now I can see where they are!!

Tonight is Good Friday Service with a drama, communion and candlelight service.

Larry, thank you for the update on Stacey, and I pray they do find the source of the infection and get that stopped.  Try to get some rest now, and trust the staff to care ofr Stacey until you feel up to going back to see her again.

I attended a Good Friday service at the care home and it was so nice.  The church doing it has a number of kids who are being taught music by one of their members; so lovely to see and hear kids playing strings!  One little girl must have been all of eight or so, and playing a tiny violin!  Others played violins, one little boy had a smaller size bass.  They also sang He Arose!  which is my favorite Easter song!  So nice to attend a well prepared and presented program.

My eyes do not want to stay open so I am about to take a little nap!

Our engine problems today in the middle of nowhere were minimal compared to all the health issues here.  Grateful that they found the needed parts and we drove on a discharging battery for over an hour. Very carefully. All was fixed with our great relief and prayers of thankfulness.

Larry. Continuing prayers for Stacey to heal totally and keep spirits up

Etta Sue. Glad you will be better for Easter.

It's so good to be back home here at CP.  Y'all are like family, and how refreshing the last 2 hours as I "listened" to the conversations flowing around me.

I'll be praying with and for each request. These are serious, and I will treat them as such as I pray.

Those stories are so well done, Janet. Along with your other marvelous talents, this is a newly discovered one.

I've had company and we've done major work in my apartment. How grateful I am for a loving son who has freely given his time and talent for organization and deep cleaning to help me. This is the trucker son.

Tonight was a rainy, cold night, so I didn't attempt to drive to church for the Tenebrae service. This is a service I attend each year, but the macular degeneration just will not allow me to drive on rainy, misty nights. And, I try to keep all driving at night to a bare minimum.

May our Lord be with us as we observe the events of this weekend. And may He be given all praise, adoration, and worship for the love He bestowed by taking our sins to the cross with Him.

G'nite, friends,

Ruth Ann

Hi everyone.  It is a lovely day here in Georgia and suppose to get up to 70 this afternoon.  Just back from coffee and think Pat wants to go to Walgreen's after bit to get a little something to take to Stacey for Easter.  We plan on going down tomorrow and spending sometime with her.  I spent a couple of hours with her yesterday and she was looking good although her foot was throbbing.  When I got there it still was a little over an hour before she could have anymore pain medication.  I plan to just take it easy today and rest as feel more tired today than yesterday.

Jeanne, it was a long and stressful day but the outcome was so much better than what it could have been that we just felt a sense of relief.

Judy, the infection doctors were in to see Stacey yesterday morning so know they are trying to work on the problem.

Etta Sue, glad you cold was better yesterday and hope it is even better today.

Janet, it was nice of the church to come to the care home and present a program.  I have always liked "He Arose" also.

Carol, hope your breakdown in the middle of nowhere wasn't too serious.  At least with cellphones we are no longer cut off when something happens.

Ruth Ann, nice of your trucker son to help you when he has time.  It sounds like a wise move to stay in at night for your safety in driving as well as the safety for others.  I still see extremely well but do not like driving after dark.

I hope everyone has a very blessed Resurrection Sunday Tomorrow.

I got the results of all the tests, everything is normal. I'm glad someone thinks I'm normal. Heh heh.

Beautiful day here on the Oregon Cost. Great walking weather not too hot not too cold. So it looks like I need to walk off those to fatty meals I had to eat in the last two days. Yikes, I don't usually drink cow's milk and I had to drink whole milk two days in a row. I usually drink either Almond or Coconut milk on the rare days that I do drink it. I usually only put it in my oatmeal. And Pork Bacon EW!! I had to eat that too, I like pork but not the bacon, I eat Turkey Bacon. I am getting back to normal but those two meals sure  made me feel yucky. Now to get my body back into the SENSA mode with SENSAble meals and I'll be a happy camper.  I have lost a total of 30.5 inches and 23.6 lbs in this past year. No more belly fat on me either. So I am really feeling good about myself especially with the added  good test results.

I think last night was the first night in a very long time that it did not get below freezing!!  How nice.

And today it is bright and sunny and I think the bicyclers are out on my road.  I lost count at around 20 or so bikers.  One just went past on one of those bikes that you sit down on and peddle with your legs out in front of you instead of below you.  Four more just passed as I was typing!!

Maybe spring has sprung!

Good Friday Service was very touching last night.  The drama was about different disciples and their story and about Jesus and how he was betrayed.

I have been invited to Jeff and Linda's house tomorrow for Easter dinner.  It is so nice to be included in Ivalou's family dinners.  Tony and Charlene are in Florida so I won't be spending time with them.

Kitty and Bob should be home tomorrow!

I am glad they are getting on top of things Larry.  The pain will be bad, let her know we are all praying.

I pray each one who comes and visits our coffee stop, has a really peaceful weekend as you reflect on the true meaning of Easter.

At the Cross  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/at-the-cross.mid)
(Click to hear music)

"There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all men." 1 Timothy 2:5-6

Words: Isaac Watts, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, 1707; Ralph E. Hudson wrote the refrain in 1885.
Music: "Martyrdom," Hugh Wilson, 1800

Alas! and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For sinners such as I?
[originally, For such a worm as I?]
Refrain

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, Thine—
And bathed in its own blood—
While the firm mark of wrath divine,
His Soul in anguish stood.

Refrain

Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!

Refrain

Well might the sun in darkness hide
And shut his glories in,
When Christ, the mighty Maker died,
For man the creature's sin.

Refrain

Thus might I hide my blushing face
While His dear cross appears,
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt my eyes to tears.

Refrain

But drops of grief can ne'er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give my self away
'Tis all that I can do.

Home.  there is nothing like coming home.  the children are planning Easter Day and we need only show.

Resurrection Day is the perfect name.  We once belonged to a church named the same as a reminder of the joy.     May all of you and those you care for have a beautiful day.
