Morning Devotional...

BIBLE MEDITATION:

Matthew 28:1-7 King James

1. In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2.  And, behold, there was a great earthquake; for the angel of rhe Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3.  His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow;
4.  And for fear of him the keepers did shake and became as dead men.
5.  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye; for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6.  He is not here; for he is risen, as he said.  Come, see the lace where the Lord Lay,
7.  And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and behold he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him; lo, I have told you.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast.
Hebrews 6:19

RESURRECTION BAY
from: Today's Turning Point by Dr. David Jeremiah

In the movie "The Hunt for Red October", the opening scene was filmed in Resurrection Bay, Alaska. This dramatic setting received its name in 1792 when the Russian trader and explorer Alexandr Baranov was forced to find refuge there during a vicious storm on Easter Sunday. Resurrection Bay has the distinction of remaining ice-free even in the dead of winter. Even in squalls and storms, it provides safe harbor.

As Christians, we anchor our souls in Resurrection Bay. The world may be caught in a thousand tempests, and storms may arise from all directions. But the empty tomb assures us of tranquility and a passageway to heaven that will never ice over. Jesus died and rose again to give us peace with God and the peace of God -- life both eternal and abundant. We anchor our souls in the haven of rest.

As hymnist Priscilla Owens put it: "We have an anchor that keeps the soul steadfast and sure while the billows roll, fastened to the Rock which cannot move, grounded firm and deep in the Savior's love."

In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil.
Edward Mote

He Lives  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/he-lives.mid)
(Click to hear music)

Words & Music: Alfred H. Ackley, 1887-

I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today;
I know that He is living, whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him, He's always near.

Refrain
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me I see His loving care,
And though my heart grows weary, I never will despair;
I know that He is leading thru all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing will come at last.

Refrain

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King!
The Hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find,
None other is so loving so good and king.

Refrain

HYMN HISTORY:

Rev. Alfred Ackey (1887-1960) was preaching during an evangelistic crusade. After the service he was trying to persuade a young man to give his heart to Christ, when the man said, "Why should I worship a dead Jew?" Ackey stated, "HE LIVES! I tell you, He is not dead, but lives here and now! Jesus Christ is more alive today than ever before. I can prove it by my own experience, as well as the testimony of countless thousands." Later that evening the young man gave his heart to Christ. It was during this experience that Ackey wrote not only the words but also the tune for our hymn, "He Lives."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today;
I know that He is living, whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him He's always near.
In all the world round me I see His loving care, And tho my heart grows weary I never will despair;
I know that He is leading thru all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing will come at last.
Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King!
The hope of all who seek Him, the help of all who find,
None other is so loving, so good and kind.
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.
HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY!!
Hi everyone and Happy Easter.  It is an overcast morning but close to 60 degrees.  We had rain during the night and more is expected today.  I guess last week caught up with me yesterday and still feel it today.  I got about 10 hours of sleep last night but went to bed a couple of hours before that and this morning I don't feel rested at all and am a bit short of breath.  No chest pain so nothing to worry about just another one of my tired days.  We are planning on going to the hospital later this morning and spending a couple of hours with Stacey.  That will be the main activity for today.  This is the first Easter service at church I have missed in many years but just not up to that and the trip downtown as well.  I did get my Federal and State income Tax filed yesterday electronically.  That is a relief as time was beginning to run out.
Marilyn, good news for you on the medical front.  You have done a wonderful job on your weight and diet plans.  Keep up the good work.
Etta Sue, those low bikes sound anything but pleasant to ride.  Glad you were able to be with Ivalou's family for the Easter dinner and get done with the kitty patrol.
Judy, I have mentioned to Stacey several times about how many folks are praying for her and she so appreciates it.
Carol, glad you are home safely and that you don't have to cook for Easter dinner.
Ruth Ann, hope you have a wonderful Easter day.
Jeanne, I like the graphic for this week as it reflects the joy of the Easter time with our risen Lord. Thanks for the devotional for this week.
Janet, Happy Resurrection Day to you and to each person visiting this discussion group.
Christ the Lord is ris'n today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heav'ns, and earth, reply, Alleluia!
Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once He died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!
Love's redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids His rise, Alleluia!
Christ hath opened paradise, Alleluia!
Soar we now where Christ hath led, Alleluia!
Foll'wing our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like Him, like Him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!
Well our plans for an afternoon and dinner at Christian friends came to an abrupt halt. We were heading out, and stopped for a coffee, When I headed back to the car I saw antifreeze pouring out of from under the hood......Not good news. The car was overheating, and within minutes we were out of water/antifreeze, stopped on the side of the road. Thankfully we have CAA and were towed to the garage we use, then got a relative to drive us home. That was a nice visit. We are home, and john is working on the neon getting it fixed.  (He got it fixed.) We haven't used it all winter, and discovered there is a seized wheel at the back. You know it never rains but it pours!!!  I never need to go anywhere during the week, just watch, I don't have transportation, and I will need to go somewhere!!
It is good that this happened when it did and not on our way south to Guelph on Thursday.  God will protect us many times if we listen.  We listened.  Who knows what we were being protected from by not going to our friend's home.  Another delay, but in that I say Thank you!  We made a connection with another family member....Again I say Thank You.
HE IS RISEN!!!
Happy Easter everyone.  My daughter cooked a lovely turkey dinner for us and this person in truly blessed by having such a caring family.
I posted this and it disappeared when Judy did a post, so am doing this in word and will paste.   It is hard for me to type now due to arthritis and would like it to stay put!
Mentioned in that post how my SIL could really benefit from prayers as is terribly stressed due to his business.  One contract he had for 30 years, who were very pleased with his work, was bought by an Eastern Co. and gave the contract to some cheapy firm  who pay their employees terrible wages.  Had the nerve to ask him to work for 1/3 the wage and are making thousand more than he charged.  So staff had to be laid off.  Now another large contract that he has had for years, has a new manager and put the work out to bid without renewing his contract.  Companies are coming into the valley, paying slave wages,  doing shoddy work and putting decent companies out of business.  My SIL is a decent, moral and kind man who has long term employees and pays them good wages and benefits.  I don't know how all of this if going to end.  He is going to be 60 in a couple of weeks and not able to retire.  Neither are his employees.  So unless he is able to keep that contract, I just don't know what will happen.  All this stress is also very hard on my daughter, who as most of you know, is anything but well.
Larry, I am so sorry about Stacey.  I will pray for her as well as Beth.  All we can do is hold onto our faith in Jesus.  At age 80 I am finding it hard to deal with all the changes that keep happening in our world.  Things are spinning out of control at an alarming rate.
I really enjoy the devotions, music and graphics and especially the stories that Janet posts.  They are first rate and bring back lots of memories.
Think I will go and hug my cat now.....and move her.  She has stolen my chair!
God Bless,
Jeanne:  Bright and beautiful picture for this week!  Thank you and also thanks for the meaning to "He Lives".
JudyB:  It seems that you and your hubby as well as us two have had vehicle issues this week and everything turned out better than we expected.  I do hope all of your vehicles will be properly working.
Liz:  There will be an answer for your son.  Sorry about all the frustrations in change for the not so good  things in life.  It boggles my mind to see the younger ones settle for mediocre work.
Happy Easter to all.  We had a lovely late lunch and only two of the family were out of the state so we give thanks for everything.  Some computer problems lately - otherwise, we have things back on track mostly.
He is risen indeed!  Just as He said.  I heard several Easter sermons today, at our church and then more on TV.  All good sermons.
Our daughter and gr dtr came and brought a ham dinner to my house.  What a treat, all I made was a pitcher of iced tea.  I really enjoyed the meal, as I was rested pretty well.  I can't stand long enough to do much cooking anymore, so I gladly let them take charge completely.
I think that blow hard new president of North Korea is just sounding off again, but we can't afford to ignore his threats.  I would not notice so much except gr dtr Patty and family are living in South Korea, have been there for a month now, and she has told her mother a code word she is to use if she and young son have to leave there in a hurry.  Their car has not arrived yet so they have to walk almost everywhere.  I don't know if her soldier husband rides with one of his buddies to the base or not. She is home schooling their son.
It is getting more Spring-like now, and feels so good to sit out on the patio and enjoy the outdoors.  This winter has taken a toll on this old lady, and I am so glad it looks like it is finally gone.
It is getting late, guess I better sign off.  I hope everyone has enjoyed the day.  I watched part of the final episode of "The Bible" tonight, just could not watch the violence our Savior endured so that we would have opportunity for salvation, and assurance of heaven.
Larry, still praying for Stacey, and I hope you are rested up by morning.  This is hard to keep up the pace I am afraid.  I know you rest when you can, but that is not always possible.
Blessings,
~Janice
I hope you've all had a wonderful Easter.
It was especially awesome to see the message posted by you, Liz.  I've missed you so much.  I'm sorry about your arthritis too.  I will continue to remember you and your family in prayer.
Larry, you and Pat have been through so very much in the last while.  Please know that I'm thinking of you so much and praying for you all.  Give my love to Stacey.
It's so late so I must go to sleep.
How good it is to hear from our Liz!  I pray things get sorted out for your son in law so that he can keep his business going and keep his employees.  It is sad that so many do shoddy work and are not honest in their dealings.  Thanks for the compliments on my stories--I appreciate that!
Janice, I'm sure that having loved ones in South Korea is worrying! I pray that idiot North Korea has for a president doesn't do something totally stupid and provoke nuclear war on all of us.  We are truly living in dangerous times, and the last days are here.  But I do know God is in control and will be forever.
We took Beth to our church's Saturday night service, then yesterday morning Darrel and I attended services at Country View Baptist, following which, we picked up Beth and went to Hugoton where we enjoyed lunch with Diane's family and then spent the entire afternoon out in their back yard.  The weather was perfect, and it was fun watching the little girls hunt Easter eggs and then play with them for hours.  Beth loved being outdoors, a rare treat for her.  I was concerned she might get sunburned, so pulled her back into the shade, but later she asked me to put her back out into the sunshine..  When we took her back to the home, the residents were in the dining room, and the first words out of Beth's mouth were, "I spent the whole afternoon outside!"  :)  She is so easy to please it almost makes me cry.
Today Beth has an  appointment with a urogolist in Garden City, so I will be leaving here in a bit to go with them.  They allow me to ride in the bus with them because I am (at least technically) still an employee of the care home.  A dear friend passed away last week and her funeral is at 2:00 today, so I am hoping we get back before then so I can attend.  She was the last founding member of our church.
Now I'd better stop, as you probably don't want to read a whole book right now!   8)
Hi everyone.  It is a nice sunny morning here in Georgia and it is to get to 72 degrees this afternoon.   I am happy to report that I am feeling much better this norming and think the tired spell, which I have occasionally, has now passed.  We had a nice visit with Stacey yesterday.  Pat had made some ham sandwiches to take with us rather than trying to get to the cafeteria at the hospital. So as Stacey had her lunch we ate our sandwiches.  It wasn't the typical Easter dinner but it served the purpose and the sandwiches were made with ham.  Stacey was in a good mood yesterday.  She will be having another surgery on Thursday where they will do a skin graft to cover her foot and so will be in the hospital for several more days.  The cardiologist said the latest chest x-ray indicates there may be some fluid around her heart and they are keeping a close watch on it.  They are still working on the unidentified infection that is causing the blood count to be so high but said the numbers were down a bit, which was good to hear.  We probably won't try to go back down to the hospital again until Thursday, when she has the surgery.  I watched both of the basketball games yesterday and sure was sorry to see the terrible accident that the Louisville player experienced with a very bad bone break of his leg.
Judy, sorry to here you are having car problems and that you had to miss your afternoon and dinner at Christian friends yesterday.
Liz, have you thought about getting software that would allow you to dictate your postings rather than having to type them.  I am not sure that there isn't a built in program in Windows 7 that will do that.  I know that Dragon has a very good speech recognition software.  Sorry to read about the difficulties your SIL has experienced with his company.  These situations can create such stress for all involved. The world seems to be changing very quickly and certainly not all for the better.
Carol, glad to read that your car problems turned out better than expected. I wonder how our younger people and those still in the work force are ever going to be able to save for retirement since many companies are going to part-time employees without the benefits.
Janice, so nice that you didn't have to do much for your Easter dinner.  There comes a time when the younger generation must step in and take on these responsibilites.  Worrisome situation in North Korea and especially for your family under the circumstances.
Pat, thanks for your concern.  We just take things one day at a time and so far have weathered the storm as we all must when things seems to pile up for any of us.  This week is starting out to be a little less hectic.
Janet, so nice you all could spend the afternoon outdoors and know that must have been a wonderful things for Beth.  It sounds like you have a very busy day ahead of you today.
Rise, My Soul! Behold 'Tis Jesus (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/stuttgart.mp3)
(Click to hear music)
Author:  J. Denham Smith, 1817-1889
Musician:  Psalmodia Sacra Gotha, 1715
Rise, my soul! behold 'tis Jesus,
Jesus fills Thy wond'ring eyes;
See Him now in glory seated,
Where thy sins no more can rise.
There, in righteousness transcendent,
Lo! He doth in heav'n appear,
Shows the blood of His atonement
As thy title to be there.
All thy sins were laid upon Him,
Jesus bore them on the tree;
God, who knew them, laid them on Him,
And, believing, thou art free.
God now brings thee to His dwelling,
Spreads for thee His feast divine,
Bids thee welcome, ever telling
What a portion there is thine.
In that circle of God's favor,
Circle of the Father's love,
All is rest, and rest forever,
All is perfectness above.
Blessed, glorious word "forever!"
Yea, "forever!" is the word;
Nothing can the ransomed sever,
Naught divide them from the Lord.
Easter Sunday weather was beautiful - mild and sunny, although those at the sunrise service must have shivered a bit with 28 degrees.   And it turned out to be quite special for me.
I was sitting quietly, reading, when there was a knock on the door and there was a neighbor with plate of food - what turned out to be about three meals worth for me.  I thought it was really special that they thought of me, since they had six extra cars at their house and it must have been really hectic there.  Then a couple of hours later he came back with an assortment of desserts.  More to save for another day!
Plus, after I had stuffed myself with ham, potatoes, string bean casserole, etc. - and was wishing I hadn't eaten quite so much - a call came from one of the single ladies at church asking if I'd like to join her for dinner.  I felt bad that I had to refuse that since it meant she'd be alone, but there was no way I could eat anything more.
The weatherman played an April Fools trick on us today......It was snowing quite heavy when I woke up.  John has been dealing with snow since he left the house.  I'm home, warm, have food in the fridge, and need nothing!
The church was packed and three people went forward during invitation.  Always great when Christ receives new followers.
Sunday school was sparce...I think the women had to go home and cook.
Ivalou and I came home and then we went to Jeff's house.  At first we didn't think we could get there.  There was a road closed...putting in a round about.  I went through an addition....came back out where we went in!!  Then tried another addition.  Ended up in the parking lot of a huge Catholic church and finally got back on the road to Jeff's house.  We came back a different way!
Oh, the little kids were delightful yesterday.  When Kailin was asked why Easter was so special, she said, 'Jesus woke up from the dead so that we will never die but will live our eternal life in heaven with God.'  She's four!
Ivalou and I both have lunches today fixed by Linda from leftovers.  Two days in a row of Easter dinner!!
I was so tired when I got home that I took a couple of hours nap.  Then I watched 'The Bible'.  I thought the series was very good.  Glad I watched it.
Then I headed for bed.  I do believe last night was the best night of rest for a long time.  I took the last of my Mucinex this morning.
Tonight is Church Council Meeting.
It is cloudy but sunny in Indiana.  Windy...Old Glory is standing straight out to the east.  It's a little chilly at 39°.
Did the image ever load for you?  April Fool!!
You got me, Etta Sue!  I clicked on several things trying to get that image to load!
Jeanne, how nice of your neighbors to "feed " you so well.  God bless them!
Well, what a long, nearly useless day this was.  After rushing to get there, we sat and waited for over four hours at the doctor's office.  But, the good news is, no obstruction, nothing wrong he could find.  By then we were all very hungry, so went to Golden Corral and ate---too much.  :P  There were four of us, the two CNAs, me and Beth.
And I can sure tell I missed my nap today!  Just got home a half hour ago!
Easter dinner was at son's home - the single son.  He was heading straight after to the mountains so we all pitched in to cleanup.  By the way, our area would need 7 feet of snow to be normal.  Water problems for six states from this lack of Rocky Mountain snowfall.
A series of computer problems and it has been hard on Don as we are trying to recovery from the drive.  Our neighbors had us over for dinner tonight and she made individual Shepherd's Pie with asparagus on the side and a plum coffee cake.  I had cooked a crockpot of split pea soup all day here and we will have that tomorrow - that ham bone from yesterday came in handy.
I accidentally swallowed my morning pills tonight and realized it right away then took my nighttime pills - good thing I don't take too many pills and two are double calcium so that is alright.
Etta Sue:  Ha back to you.  I saw the X and didn't touch it.
Hi everyone.  It is another sunny and beautiful day here in Georgia.  I was able to sleep in a bit later today as we don't go to coffee on Tuesday and Thursdays.  The situation here has changed again.  The doctors told Stacey yesterday that her foot amputation is not healing and that it may be necessary to remove her entire foot.  Pat is concerned that the stent in the leg may have closed, which can happen, as she is complaining about pain in her leg.  They also told her they see fluid accumulating around her heart, i.e., congestive heart failure as her heart isn't strong enough to pump the fluid off.  We had not planned to go back to the hospital until Thursday but may go again today.  We don't know what or when something is going to happen to the foot but assume it may be on Thursday.  Stacey hasn't called yet this morning.  However, there is good news also that Pat is doing well.  She will have her last home PT on Friday.  Yesterday she was shown how to sit in her easy chair so she can get her feet up and that made her very happy.  She had been sitting at a card table to use her computer and now can go back to what she is used to.  I put the living room back in order again as put away the table.  Each day she seems a bit stronger if she could just build up some stamina and hopefully that will come with time.
Jeanne, you were certainly blessed on Sunday to have such nice neighbors and you get to enjoy the food for more than one meal.
Judy, that wasn't a very nice April Fools trick getting the snow.
Etta Sue, where there is a will there is a way.  Glad you were finally able to get to Jeff's house Sunday.  Glad you are resting better.
Janet, our men's group ate at Golden Corral yesterday.  I am finding the older I get the less appetite I have.  I visited the salad bar but passed on the other items and had a little dessert (still haven't lost my taste buds for sweets).  It was terrible that Beth had to wait so long to see the doctor but it sounds like good news that she received.
Carol, there have been a couple of times I have taken my morning pills at night.  Maybe your life will slow down a bit for you this week so you both can recover from your travels.
I've taken my scraped hand to the doctor twice so far and will be going again on Thursday.  He says it is healing nicely.  But trying to keep the bandaging on the right hand dry and clean certainly is a hassle.   :(
I heated up another plate of Easter dinner last night - the rest of the veggies, etc., and I have enough of the ham slices for a couple of sandwiches.  Ham & cheese with lots of mayo on whole wheat bread.  Ummmm
Jeanne try wearing a plastic glove over the bandaging, to keep it dry, You wouldn't have to wear it all the time just when near water......That would help keep it dry.
Larry I am sorry about Stacy. I pray the medical profession soon get's to the bottom of the problem.  Is there any way they can aid the removal of fluid around the heart?  It is a blessing that Pat is doing better.
Carol I have done that as well with my meds, however more often I forget my bedtime dose and have to take them in the morning.  Mine too are mainly vitamins.
I have an assignment to complete this week, I want to get it done by tomorrow.  I will be away on Thursday and john will be home Friday, so I don't want this on my mind while he is home.
The Old Account Was Settled  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/the-old-account-was-settled.mid)
(Click to hear music)
"Every one of us shall give account of himself to God." Romans 14:12
Words & Music: F. M. Graham
There was a time on earth, when in the book of Heav'n
An old account was standing for sins yet unforgiv'n;
My name was at the top, and many things below,
I went unto the Keeper, and settled long ago.
Refrain
Long ago (down on my knees), long ago (I settled it all),
Yes, the old account was settled long ago (Hallelujah!);
And the record's clear today, for He washed my sins away,
When the old account was settled long ago.
The old account was large, and growing every day,
For I was always sinning, and never tried to pay;
But when I looked ahead, and saw such pain and woe,
I said that I would settle, I settled long ago.
Refrain
When in that happy home, my Savior's home above,
I'll sing redemption's story, and praise Him for His love;
I'll not forget that book, with pages white as snow,
Because I came and settled, and settled long ago.
Refrain
O sinner, trust the Lord, be cleansed of all your sin,
For thus He hath provided for you to enter in;
And then if you should live a hundred years below,
Up there you'll not regret it, you settled long ago.
Refrain
Judy, I do have a rubber glove that I use for things like dishwashing, etc. but it makes those chores take longer.  Actually I did have two pairs of rubber gloves from when my wrist was in a cast, but somehow there's only one glove left - thankfully it's for the right hand.   :D
Larry, I meant to say how sorry I am that Stacey's troubles seem to be multiplying.  Now I know why I woke up during the night with her name in front of me.  You, Pat and Stacey can all be sure my prayers continue.
So sorry to hear of Stacey's troubles.  I pray that the medical personnel gets a handle on every thing soon.
I have two things done and two to go.  I have been to the pool and my nails are a bright 'Ruby Pumps' color.  I will think of Mom when I look at them...her name was Ruby.
Now to take Ivalou to the DDS and then lunch.  We found out a few years ago that Sandstone Pub has great hamburgers so we are going to see if they are still good today.
Then I am sure a nap is in store when I get back home.
It was only 28° when I left this morning but now it is a whopping 37°!  I will be so glad when the freezing point is done for a few seasons!
Hi Everyone...
Larry, this is not good news about Stacey.  :(  I'm truly sorry.  BUT...  great news of how well Pat is getting along.
Sorry I've been AWOL this week.   As some of you know and as I've mentioned before, Ross, one of my Moderators on Photography Cafe is very, very ill and yesterday, the doctor went in to see him and he was told that he only has a "few days, perhaps a week" to live!  He's not a believer and I'm quite saddened by this.  He's a wonderful friend.  (He was Paul and my wedding photographer in May of 2008).
For any of you who are registered on Photography Cafe (or who wish to leave a message), here's a topic we opened for Ross...
There are some photos in there for all to view.
Larry, I was hoping to see better news of Stacey this evening, and am so sorry to see that things are not improving for her.  I will continue praying for her, and for you and Pat, as well, of course.
Beth is in the hospital.  Today at lunch, they tried to take her blood pressure and couldn't even get a reading, nor could they get a pulse!  So they called the ambulance and rushed her over to the emergency room, then later decided to admit her for maybe 48 hours to keep an eye on her.  They think the problem is they increased her muscle relaxer and also put her on Cipro for the UTI she has, so the combination of those may be the culprit. One day at a time, Sweet Jesus.......  I went in and stayed with her until 5:00, will of course stay  in close touch.  I asked them to please try to get some kind of call light she can use, they were working on that when I left.  She is near the nurses station, so that may be a really good thing for her!  And she got her new glasses this afternoon, was so happy about that.  :thumbsup:
This is our small group Bible study night, last one before a break.
I called the hospital and spoke to the nurse last night just before going to bed.  She said Beth's BP was holding more or less steady in the low 80/57 range.  Of course I will be going in to see her after a while, it is only 7 AM here.
What a mighty God we serve!  May each of us know his presence, His comfort, His peace today.
I finished this story yesterday, so happy reading!
                                                                    BOBBY J. (BOB) WELCH
Bob Welch was born near Ringling, Oklahoma, on August 2, 1934.  He grew up in the Ringling area, close to the Red River, in Jefferson County, Oklahoma.  He said Ringling was named for the Ringling Brothers Circus.
Bob had one brother and two sisters.  Their dad was a farmer who also worked in the oil field, he always said, "to support the farm."  Bob attended Mountain Home Country School, a very nice school with all 12 grades in one building, from second grade through high school.  He graduated in 1953 in a class of nine students, and when they had their last reunion, 8 of his class still survived.
Bob then attended Murray State School, a branch of Oklahoma A & M, now Oklahoma State University, for two years.  He then transferred to Durant, Oklahoma, and attended Southeastern State Teachers College.  He moved to Quinter, Kansas in 1956, where he began his teaching career.  He had not yet graduated college, but had 110 hours of credits, and was allowed to teach.  He taught 6th grade there, then was hired as grade school administrator.  Bob told me that schools used to have two separate school boards, one for elementary and one for high school.
Mr. Welch finished his BS at Durant, and then continued classes through Hays until he got his Masters in 1963.  He and Carol moved from Quinter to Ulysses on July 4, 1963, and they both remember that was a very hot day!  Merril Durr became superintendant here that same year.  Since Bob had experience with buses, he was made transportation supervisor, a job he did for 15 years.  Also in that same year, the textbook rental program was started in the Ulysses schools.
One of Bob's favorite teachers was Chester Fields (imagine the teasing he got!) a coach and teacher at Mountain Home high school.  He kept in touch with him for many years.
A favorite childhood memory is hunting and fishing with his dad and his brother.  They sometimes used a seine to catch fish, and whatever kind they caught, they had a big fish fry that night, and ate them.  His family had an outhouse, and his parents didn't get electricity until 1951 or 1952.  Running water was having the kids run to the well, get the water, and run back to the house!
When he was a junior in high school, Bob said they had a class teaching electrical wiring.  Since electricity had just been brought to their area, people needed someone to wire their houses for it, so they furnished the wire and other needed supplies, and the students did the wiring for them free of charge.  It was very elementary, as most people only wanted a porcelain fixture for a light, and maybe one outlet.  The kids did everything except the breaker box connections.  Bob remembers one boy with big feet missing the ceiling joist and stepping through the ceiling, so they had to patch that.
4-H was big in that area of Oklahoma, most kids belonged to a 4-H club.  In about 1951, Bob won grand champion on a Hereford steer he raised.  That is a special memory.
Carol was in the same class with Bob from second grade on.  They remember their senior trip was made in a school bus with about three sponsors, and both juniors and seniors got to go.  They went to SE Oklahoma, then to NE Oklahoma, to Oklahoma City, where they went to an amusement park.  They remember going roller skating one night on the trip.
Like most kids then, they attended movies, at a cost of 10c per ticket, and popcorn cost 5c.  In free time, kids played hide and go seek, black man, tag, Red Rover, and other outdoor games.  They also played softball, basketball and track at school.
When they began dating, young folks usually went to town, just went over to each other's houses and visited, or went to movies.
In about 1951-53, gasoline was priced at 15c per gallon.  Work Bob did when he was young: he started pulling cotton at a young age.  First, they pulled their dad's crop, and then they hired out to other cotton farmers at $2.00 per 100 pounds.  Lots of peanuts were raised there, and he described the peanut harvest to me.  I hope I got it down right!  First, they went through the field with sweeps which cut underneath the vines, and then they had to pick them up and shake the dirt off them.  This was called "peanut shaking."  The vines, with peanuts still attached, were then piled up in wind rows to dry for several days, after which time, they had to be picked up with pitch forks, piled on wagons and taken to the thresher.  The thresher knocked the peanuts off the vines and blew the vines into a big pile.  The vines made peanut hay, comparable in feed value to alfalfa.  Bob said he always enjoyed feeding peanut hay, because he could always find a pocketful of peanuts still in it, very handy if he were hungry!
School was started early, around August first (in those days most schools started after Labor Day in September).  This early start was so they could dismiss school for about six weeks to allow the kids to help with the harvest.
Bob met his future wife when Carol moved to Mountain Home school in second grade.  They lived about six miles apart, and began dating when they were both juniors in high school.  They married on April 9, 1954 in Ringling, at Carol's brother's house.  Their honeymoon consisted of one weekend at Lake Murray, and Monday found them back in college.  The couple has three sons and two daughters; now there are 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Welch says with inflation so high now, it is harder for young people to get ahead.  He feels manners and morals are definitely lacking, compared to 30 years ago.
His hobbies are still hunting and fishing and he regrets there is not much fishing anywhere close to Ulysses!  He loves pheasant hunting and never misses a season.
Some of their travel experiences are having taken three cruises:  the inside passage to Alaska, flew to Hawaii and cruised to the five major Hawaiian Islands; and a Panama Canal cruise.  The Hawaii one was their favorite because of seeing different islands, different types of scenery, and the wonderful climate.
Bob had two years of Air Force ROTC while in college.
The achievement or accomplishment that gives him the most satisfaction is having a beautiful wife and having raised five great kids.  A valuable lesson he learned that he would like to pass along is:  work hard, tell the truth, and be kind to people.
Some of his best years were those spent raising his kids, even though he worked very hard then.
One of the jobs he did while attending Murray State was being dorm custodian one year.  His chores included sweeping the halls and cleaning the bathrooms.  The next year he worked with the maintenance man, doing all kinds of carpentry and repairs.  Bob said, "I learned from every job I ever had."
A wild thing he did as a teenager was riding horses off a bluff near their home.  He said "We sort of slid off, but it was a crazy and dangerous thing to do."
Mr. Welch was in a play in high school and enjoyed it very much.  His favorite Christmas song is White Christmas, the Gene Autry version.  His favorite food is a good steak; favorite movie is a good western, and he also likes the movie Singing in the Rain.  (Bob and Carol saw this movie while on their senior trip, and when they came outside, it was raining!)
He rather regrets marrying so young, because that knocked Carol out of getting to finish college.  But she says she doesn't regret it.
Bob taught himself to drive at a very young age.  Like most kids then, he had to drive a tractor on the farm, which he began doing at the tender age of 8 or 10 years.  He said his dad owned a B Farmall, which was a small tractor.  He started driving a 1947 Chevy ¾ ton pickup when he was so small he had to sit on a stack of pillows to see over the dash and then slide almost off the seat to reach the brake.
Mr. Welch said if he could do anything over, "I would probably listen better to my parents' advice.  I never wanted to disrespect them."  But he liked riding horses, hunting and fishing more than he liked going to school, so one day he decided to miss the bus, then he could spend the day doing what he liked.  But his dad turned out to be something of a philosopher, and after Bob missed the bus, he said that was a pretty good thing!  Then he set him to cleaning out the animal pens, and he spent his "free" day shoveling manure.
His first car was a jet black '40 Ford convertible with a white top.  He gave $400.00 for it in 1951, and got $375.00 for it as a trade-in on a 1950 model Ford.   The first Ford, the '40 model figured into his scariest time.  He had changed wheels and tires out on it, and had just finger-tightened the lug nuts before letting it down.  Then he tightened them with a wrench, but forgot the left front one.  It was prom night, and he had his sister with him, was on the way to pick up Carol.  He crossed a bridge and felt the car wobble, and then after he got off the bridge, the wheel came off, rolled past the car, jumped a fence, went a quarter of a mile and ended up in a creek!   By the time he chased it down and got it put on the car, after losing most of the lug nuts and borrowing one or two from other wheels, I imagine the party was late getting to the prom!
Bob's hopes for the future of the USA are that we do not get into another war; that Korea doesn't provoke a fight with us; that inflation eases off and prices go down.
His mom and some cousins close to his mom's age were the ones who most inspired and influenced Bob in his life.  They attended a country church 1 ½ miles from their house and the cousins always taught Sunday school.  His mom never liked to miss church, and the family attended most Sundays.
He really admired a couple of uncles who taught him to hunt and fish and enjoy life.  In the 1930s one uncle had the reputation of making the best jack rabbit chili in the country.
The biggest change Bob has seen during his lifetime is in technology; both in automobiles and computers.  The first president he voted for was John Fitzgerald Kennedy.  The worst crime he remembers is the Clutter family murders, after which the Welches began locking their doors.
He feels the greatest achievement of the USA is giving everybody the opportunity to do or be whatever they want, if they are willing to work for it.
Bob said he had his mouth washed out with soap a few times!
His favorite comic strip is Pickles.  He regrets that he never got to take any kind of music lessons.  He did play sports in school:  basketball, softball and track.  His favorite novels are those by Zane Grey.
He said as a kid he doesn't remember eating out very often, but once in a while they would stop for a hamburger when on the road.
Some of the changes he has seen come to our area of SW Kansas since he moved here:  The biggest change is in Agriculture, going from ditch to sprinkler irrigation.  They used to raise lots of sugar beets, cantaloupe and watermelons here, and it was a treat for his family to go to the melon shed and purchase over-sized cantaloupes fresh from the field.
Changes in the schools are that there is so much more state level control of the schools now and so much more paperwork for the teachers and administrators.  "I used to have time to spend with the kids and the teachers, but the last few years 75% of my time was spent on paperwork required by the state.  Another change is that we used to have a county superintendent of schools, whose job it was to gather up reports and get them to the state.  That job was held by a woman when we first came here, and she always tried to visit each school in her district during the school term.  That job was abolished years ago."
Bob's work history includes seven years in the Quinter schools and 36 years in Ulysses, mostly as Elementary school principal.  Some of the things he shared with me that were part of his job included having to take kids with head lice home.  They would tell the parents that the kids weren't to come back to school until the head lice had been treated, so as to prevent the spread of the problem.  If the kids came back, and hadn't been treated, Mr. Welch had to take them home and remind the parents of the need for treatment.  Sometimes this was not well received!  He also spoke of the early years, when a child would get sick at school, and the parents weren't at home, they had an old couch on the stage where they put the sick child until a parent could be contacted.
Mr. Welch retired in 1999, and he said he misses the kids most of all.  He really enjoyed working with kids, especially the kindergartners, and the interaction with all of them in the hallways, on the playground and even in his office where they were sent for misbehaving.  In those days corporal punishment was still the norm, but he said he never gave any child more than one swat with the board, then he would ask if they thought they needed more.  No one ever thought they did!
While he didn't live here during the 30s he does remember wind damage in Oklahoma when the blowing sand would cut off the tender young cotton plants right at the ground.  There were also lots of grasshoppers that ate the cotton plants, and farmers had to poison them.  After moving here, there were some really bad dust storms in the '60s and '70s.
The worst thing to happen to Bob was a bout with cancer about 2004, but after surgery and radiation, it is gone, so they are thankful for that.  The best thing to happen to him was Carol!
Bob would like to be remembered as a person who tried to do right by everybody, who tried to take a special interest in those kids who were struggling in school.
The legacy he will leave is five kids who are hard working and respectful and who are teaching their kids to be the same.
The greatest lesson he learned in life:  If you treat people fairly and like you would like to be treated, you will have friends who respect and will help you.
His favorite type of music is country/western, favorite song is Happy Trails.  His favorite scripture is the Lord's Prayer, and his favorite TV show is Bonanza.  I asked him about practical jokes, and he said he played a few of those, but found they always backfired!
As a child, Bob's punishment was usually a firm lecture, a man-to-man talk with his dad.  His mom used a switch from a salt cedar tree to switch his backside, and he assured me that really did sting!  While in high school, he said there were two brothers who didn't get along and were always fighting about something.  One day the other kids "egged them on" and encouraged them to really fight, forming a circle around them to watch.  The principal came out and ordered them all into the office, where he proceeded to give each one a good whipping with a board paddle—hard!  Bob said he edged over to the end of the line, thinking the principal would wear himself out by the time his turn came and he wouldn't get whipped as hard—but that was in vain.  He still got a hard whipping.
Nicknames he had were Peewee, which he disliked, and Skeeter, which he liked.  He named his steer who won grand champion in 4-H Skeeter.
Some memorable pets he remembers are an old dog called Bingo they had for many years, and a small red dog named Ted that would find the terrapins that ruined the cantaloupes in the garden.
Mr. Welch said the most important decision of his life was going into education.  "By the time I went to college, I'd had all the manure shoveling, cotton pulling and peanut shaking I wanted, so decided to be the first in my family to go to college and do something besides farming.  So I went into teaching, then administration.
The worst decision he ever made was diving into water without first checking the depth of it.  It was quite shallow, and he said he was very lucky he didn't break his neck.
If he were to give an 18-year-old one specific piece of advice, it would be:  Be prepared to work hard and do your best to earn what you want.  Don't expect it to be given to you.
Bob feels the smartest thing his parents ever did was to work hard, save their money and invest in land
I asked if he had some favorite memories to share, and he said the good memories far outweigh the bad from his 36 years in the Ulysses school system.  An amusing story from his time in Quinter was that one day he was out on the playground with the kids.  He had worn dress pants, and while playing with the kids, he ripped the entire seam out of his pants.  He didn't realize it, but every time he turned his back, the kids laughed.  When he realized the problem, he had to go home and change.
I think a community is really blessed when it has good teachers and administrators; those who really care about the kids.  So I am happy to have had the opportunity to visit with Bob and Carol Welch and get to know them better.  Thank you for sharing your story!
He Keeps Me Singing  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/he-keeps-me-singing.mid)
(Click to hear music)
My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
Psalm 63:5
Luther B. Bridges, 1884-1948
There's within my heart a melody
Jesus whispers sweet and low,
Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still,
In all of life's ebb and flow.
Refrain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
Sweetest Name I know,
Fills my every longing,
Keeps me singing as I go.
All my life was wrecked by sin and strife,
Discord filled my heart with pain,
Jesus swept across the broken strings,
Stirred the slumbering chords again.
Refrain
Feasting on the riches of His grace,
Resting 'neath His sheltering wing,
Always looking on His smiling face,
That is why I shout and sing.
Refrain
Though sometimes He leads through waters deep,
Trials fall across the way,
Though sometimes the path seems rough and steep,
See His footprints all the way.
Refrain
Soon He's coming back to welcome me,
Far beyond the starry sky;
I shall wing my flight to worlds unknown,
I shall reign with Him on high.
Refrain
Judy, that will indeed keep me singing all day!
Please don't include my "injured" hand in the same breath with the problems of Stacey and Beth and others of our CP family!  There is no comparison - my biggest problem is clumsiness, trying to keep from banging it again, and wearing a rubber glove for wet chores.  Really more annoying than anything.   ;)
Hi everyone on a cool and overcast day here in our area.  It is only to get to 57 degrees today.  I hardly know where to begin today as what we were expecting as of yesterday has already changed twice this morning regarding Stacey's condition.  This morning she was seen by her vascular surgeon and he said they would have to take the leg up to the knee.  However, around noon she learned that the surgery will likely be delayed two or three days as her white blood cell count has gone up again and the surgeon is concerned by infection at the new amputation site if the surgery is done tomorrow.  The blood cultures they are taking may take up to three days for results and thus the surgery would probably not be until Monday at the earliest.  Today is her 15th day in the hospital and no end in sight.  They have also done another chest x-ray to look for the fluid situation around her heart.  Needless to say this new situation has her very upset, as it does us, since it potentially changes everything.  Her grandfather had his leg amputated above the knee and was never able to return home but spent the rest of his life in a nursing home.  She can't get that image out of her mind.
I know you will all understand that if don't make many individual comments to the postings since yesterday.  It is sustaining to know we have continued support and prayers from so many friends.  Sometimes there just are not words to say in situations and this seems to be one of them.
Janet, I know you understand, and I other here understand,  the emotional roller coaster having our children in poor health it can put us on.  Glad that Beth is getting the attention she needs and hopefully it is just the medicine.  I will continue to pray for you all.
Gord, I will be remembering Noreen as she goes through the knee surgery and the recovery period.  Will you be her only care giver when she comes home?
Jeanne, hope the doctor continues to be pleased with the healing process on your hand.  Health issues are all important so of course you are included in our prayers.
I sure enjoyed reading about Mr. Welch!
Whew!  I am sure feeling that I am not as young as I used to be.  I have been cleaning house.  I work a bit and rest a bit!  But it is done!  Feels good.
Now to go get the mail and see how Ivalou is.
Then this evening is Wednesday Night Live Bible Study and I want to go to Walmart or somewhere for supplies to make potato salad for Small Groups Bible Study.
I am praying for all your concerns of your loved ones.  That's right.  When it rains...it pours!  May God bless you all!
A little birdie said that it's Jane's birthday today.
Happy, Happy Birthday, Jane.
I do not know how to do animations or I would have lots of balloons or even a cake with candles showing --so just use your imagination--the thought is there..
Hi all, Stacey just called again about 3:45 to tell us the surgery is now back on for about 9 am in the morning.  Apparently they have decided that there isn't an infection that is causing the very high white cell count and thus there won't be the delay they had indicated this morning.  What a roller coaster ride.
Happy Birthday Jane.
Thank you for taking time to mention my birthday while y'all are dealing with such serious situations in your own lives.  Yes, I have managed to pass another milestone on this journey called life .... I thank God for good health and wonderful friends.  He has blessed me far beyond anything I deserve, that's for sure.
I continue to pray for all the needs here.  I can't imagine what it is for you to face such challanges day after day.  It is truly a blessing to know that our faith holds and sustains us all ... without Him where would we be.  Can't imagine.   :-\
I just can't imagine all the stress so many of you are going through right now.  We care.
Jane:  Birthday greetings to you.  Don't these years go much too quickly?
A cousin from Washington state just emailed me that they are buying a trailer to put on their site in Yuma.  It means that he won't be hauling his small trailer over a mountain pass every year and so much more convenient for them.  They stay at least 4 months and go back to rain, slush and mud even now.
Back to Bible Study today and the list of prayers needed just expanded while we were away.  Our neighbor undergoing chemo is 10 X better this year than a year ago at this time.  He wants us to take him out for Chili Rellanos (that Texan!)  So happy to see him up and around with more energy.
Larry, my heart aches for all of you, and my prayers continue.  I know a nursing home sounds terrible to Stacey, but after Beth adjusted, she doesn't mind it that much.  She knows we don't have any other options here.  I pray for peace for all of you, as I do understand (somewhat anyway) the stresses you are living with right now.
Beth was released from the hospital and sent back to the care home today, they discontinued the muscle relaxer that was causing the problem (they think it was,anyway)  She seemed better this evening, but had a headache.  I didn't think her problems could ever seem light, but just now, compared to Stacey's.......
Note to JUDY--I sent you an email answering your question, but it was bounced back as undeliverable.  I don't know how to send private messages in Facebook.  What now?
Time to to to bed!
I just know that if I could take these burdens away from my friends and their families, I would.  I can't but God can.  Look up to God and somehow those burdens seem less.
I went to Wednesday Night Live last evening and then to Wendy's for a late supper.  Then to Walmart.  That is the time to go.  I found a parking spot in no time and the store wasn't crowded at all.  I zoomed right through it.  And the $$$ zoomed right out of my billfold.  My, have prices raised in the last year or so!
Today Ivalou and I are going to Art's Pizza.  Art's was the first pizza joint ever in our vicinity.  He is long past dead but his family is continuing the pizza and pizza recipes!  Yum!  Not far from Art's is KMart...the only KMart for miles around so we will stop in there to see if anything has our name on it!!
A bright and sunny day in Indiana but still chilly.  Only 36°.  Brrr!  Some day.. ::)
I was hoping to see a note from Judy before I take this laptop to the "computer hospital" but don't see one.  I likely won't be here for a few days, don't know how long it will take for them to go through this machine and clean it up, etc.  I have been waiting for grandson to do it, not happening, so will take it down town.
Prayers continue for Stacey.  Beth is doing all right now, except for the headaches.
May God bless each of you here is my prayer.
OK Pat you made me cry. I always cry when I hear Amazing Grace.
Please say a prayer for Gilbert as you read this. He is in the Hospital this morning have the Inguinal Hernia removed, i don't know yet how long he will be there. He called as he was checking in to ask me if he was allergic to Penicillin, I told him not that I know of.
Larry what is the word on Stacy today. Please let us know.
Just as we got to the hospital a little after 8 am this morning Stacey called and said the surgery was postponed as her white blood cell count was up again over 17,000 and the surgeon wanted the cause of this to be determined before he operated further on her.  He later came to her room and explained that he has been practicing for 30 years and has seen it that if healing is not occurring and he went ahead with the amputation then he would then have to go back and remove the leg above the knee rather than below the knee.  So we have no idea of when the surgery will be rescheduled or how long she is going to have to stay in the hospital.
Pat spent the morning with Stacey and I went to her apartment to gather her dirty clothes to bring home to wash.  While there I straightened her apartment so it will be in good shape when she comes home.  I finished cleaning out things in the refrigerator that could spoil and could not be frozen.  We got home about 2pm and are both tried after fighting the rush hour traffic this morning getting down to Altanta and then the activities of the morning.
Janet, so glad to see that Beth is out of the hospital and hope the headache soon goes away.
Marilyn, I had that surgery done several years ago on both sides and it wasn't bad at all.  I hope all goes well for Gilbert.
Hi everyone on a dreary, damp and chilly overcast day here in Georgia.  I am just back from coffee at the senior center and before long it will be time to leave to attend my ROMEO's luncheon, which meets at 11:30.  By the time Pat came to bed last night her toe that has the gout was hurting her terribly and is even worse this morning.  She had used up all of her pills for the gout and has now requested more but is going to be a while before she can get them.  She just now finished soaking her foot in Epsom Salts and that has helped a bit as well as taking some Aleive.     Just as she was finishing that the physical therapist came for her last visit.  So she is in for a miserable day.  Certainly glad this didn't hit her yesterday as there would be no way she could have gone to the hospital.  Last evening we went out to eat, which was the first time in probably about three months.  We haven't heard from Stacey yet today.  They did a xray of her Charcot Foot and also a CT scan last evening but she hasn't heard anything as to if this could be the source of the white blood cell problem.  I looked up what the normal count for women should be and it was between 4,300 and 10,000 and hers is between 17,000 and 20,000.
Marilyn, glad to read that all went well for Gilbert.  I felt that would be the case.
I loved hearing the pan flute and 'Amazing Grace'.  Hard to explain what that song does to me.
So happy to hear that Beth is back in the 'home' again and that Gilbert is home from his surgery.  Now to keep him down, is the problem.  And Stacey.  I pray that her numbers go down so she can have her surgery and be done with it.  Go on with her life!
And Pat, she sure doesn't need gout on top of everything else.  Ivalou takes some kind of medicine that prevents gout.  I don't remember what it is now but she hasn't had gout for years now!
And hoping that Janet's laptop isn't in too bad of shape and it can be fixed quickly and easily!
Ivalou and I had a wonderful spring day yesterday eating pizza and shopping at KMart!  We both enjoyed it very much.  We need to do that more often.
It seems that Kitty broke a flower pot and cut her right hand.  She had to have 4 stitches put in her hand.  I told her if she needed company to call me.  She did last evening.  I hadn't eaten so I went to her house and got her and then to Dairy Queen.  Then back to her house to chat.
Sarah, her sister, lives in Bluffton, Indiana, in an Assisted Living Home.  She has Alzheimers.  Kitty was going to call her this morning and if she didn't have many activities to do, I was going to drive Kitty to see her.  Kitty woke up with her had throbbing so decided she needed to stay home and take care of her hand.  I had a 'J' night last night and was glad that I didn't have to take her but I would have.  I can sleep some other time.
What a bright sunny day we have here in Indiana.  Oops!  The neighbor took the flag down so I don't know if there is wind or not but it is 50° and suppose to get in the mid 50's for the high of the day!  I just wish it was nice enough to sit on my deck in the sunshine.
I have been out to Coquille to take both Dogs in for the vet to examine, Yearly checkups before getting their yearly Bordatella vaccine before they go for boarding. Happy's skin fungus has come up again right behind one of his ears, Doc told me to get him cut down to a puppy cut so I can better work in the anti-fungal shampoo to his skin. Bebe is now 12, she has developed a heart murmur and the EKG  was pretty erratic. He said no more walks for her unless she just wants to go  across the street and back home like she does sometimes, just very short walks.  She also need her teeth cleaned but will have to have another EKG and chest x-ray before she can have any anesthesia. Happy will be 15 next month.
Hi everyone on a beautiful and sunny, lovely day here in Georgia.  This is a big day for Atlanta as the NCAA Basketball Finals are this evening, there are concerts in the parks and the Braves play this afternoon or evening.  They are expecting between 100 to 150 thousand people to be downtown for those events.  Pat's foot is feeling much better today.  She soaked it in Epsom salts twice yesterday and took Alieve and that seems to have helped.
We did get some good news yesterday regarding Stacey.  They did a bone marrow test on her yesterday morning and as a result have told her she doesn't have leukemia.  They also did a CT scan and x-ray of her other foot and found she has two more broken bones in the foot (breaks 18 and 19 in that foot) from the Charcot Food Disease and there is inflammation in her foot.  This may be the cause of the high white cell count. She was able to get in her wheelchair yesterday and go outside for a couple of hours and enjoy the fresh air (this was with the doctor's permission).  However, this morning she is running a 101 degree temperature so won't be able to leave her room today.  There is a man in the room next to her with an infectious disease of some type and yesterday one of the techs came from his room with the protective clothing still on into Stacey's room.  Stacey told her to get out and immediately called the head nurse and reported it and told her she never wanted that tech back in her room.  Have to hope she hasn't been infected with something else from this carelessness on the part of the tech.
Etta Sue, nice you could go over and cheer up Kitty.  I know Dairy Queen always cheers me up.  :) It sounds like you had a really nice day yesterday weather-wise and thanks for sending on down this way.
Ruth, nice that your aunt enjoyed the surprise eating out place.  Thanks for your thoughts in our regard.
Marilyn, sounds like not great news regarding your dogs but good to know what you are dealing with.
Gord, sorry to read you have not been feeling well but it sounds like you are making improvement.  Not good for a singer to lose his voice.  Thanks to you and to everyone for your continued prayers and kind thoughts.
Judy, I know you will have read above concerning Stacey today.  She did have a restful night. The physical therapist told us now to make our own inexpensive ice packs using rubbing alcohol and water in zip lock top bags.  I think we used two gallon bags and put one inside the other to provide a seal if the bag with the solution were to spring a leak.  I couldn't remember the proportions so Googled it and here is one of the recipe links:  http://bonusmommie.com/2013/03/30/diy-ice-packs/  They really work and if it get too hard add more rubbing alcohol and the opposite if it is too watery.  Glad your procedure went well.
Large bags of frozen peas are handy when icy cooling is needed as well.
I am recovering and much better today so Don wants me to go with him to the HOA meeting.  Oh, joy!   Sipping some tea called decaff Bengal Spice.  Not bad.  Good things happen too as Don and son were able to hang a rather large picture over the living room stairway so it looks so nice with the colors in the area.  Also, a biggie for me is the fact that I "found" the sewing machine extension table which is quite expensive and it was hiding behind storage clothes in a basement closet.  Feeling so good that I look forward to going to church tomorrow and hopeful that can be done.  Weather temps are dropping and there are several days of moisture including snow coming - not at all unusual.
We are trying to live with an antenna on the television and there are cutting in and out problems.  We like to hear both sides of the stories and now have to resort to searching through the internet.
I do believe my cold or whatever it is is worse today than ever!!  I should have called the doctor's office yesterday and either saw the nurse or got a prescription called into the drug store.  Too late now!!
Now I have told Kitty that I will take her to her sister's on Monday and Ivalou's class lunch is Tuesday.  We both go to the doctor's office Wednesday...mine for a BP check.  Hope I see the nurse!!  I need relief.  I want to be outside in this nice weather but I am afraid of the temperature change.
Our furry kids are aging.  I think Ali Cat was born in April 2001.  She came to my house near Memorial Day and was eating dry cat food and knew what kitty litter was.  So she will be 12 this year.  And Inky was born in November of 2003.  She came to this house on the coldest day of the year...December 30th, 2003 so she will be 10 years old!  She also knew what dry cat food was and kitty litter.  They both act like kittens with lots of sleeping in between the running around!
It is overcast today but nice out!  63°!  That's the warmest this year!!
Etta Sue out fur babies age too, and show their age.  Cimi will be 13 this year.  She sleeps most of the day, lifespan is about 15 years.  Rambo has been kenneled most of his life now that Stiches is gone to her new home I am working with Rambo.  Not much work to be done.  When Stiches was here it wasn't uncommon for him to mess in the house.  He has been with me constantly and there have been no messes day or night....This is such good news.
John has a young lad with him for a few weeks.  This guy actually knows how to drive! It is a pleasure for John to be in the truck with him.  He has initiative, found where Solway MN was without John telling him to....Most others require a "See Dick run." type of training.  Etta Sue How far is Solway from you?
Now that I have finished and balanced my accounting lesson..I am heading out to take some pictures.  There were some ice formations I'd like to photo!  I hope that they are still there!  Bye for now!
I also fit into that picture. I do have enough pictures for I think 3 or 4 projects and then that is it done.
Judy B.  Are you in Guelph or are you back home? I do hope that you are feeling better. ;D
I will look in later and see if there are any other posts.  God bless.  Gordon. :cp: :rocker:
When we go to Guelph we do a turn and burn.  Round trip in one day, as a driver John doesn't find it hard. I have done it often enough that It is quite easy.  Unfortunately we don't have time to visit.  We stopped in Orangeville for supper and met up with Ian, then home.
I was out today for a while taking some pictures of ice formations.  It was fun however the one I was looking for has melted!
I Have a test to write, so I am off for today.
Good evening  CP sisters and brothers. Rain here today. I managed to get in a few minutes walk with Happy, Bebe wanted so bad to go when we got back but it was raining too much to take her out for a short one. I work tomorrow it is feral Cat Day but I was told that we only have about 30 cats, geez that's plenty once you add a few dog in the mix.
Gilbert is doing well, he called today to let me know how he is doing.
Hi Folks Just thought I would put a few words down here. Sitting in a small truck stop in Marshall Michigan for the night and I have a trainee with me this week. We are on our way to Cedar Rapids Iowa. Weather is quite pleasant here at the moment and hope it remains that way. As I go through all the posts and read of the some off the problems folks are having I sense a real need for blessings from our Great Physician. We need to stand fast together in prayer and ask that Gods will be done. He knows what is best in all situations and we can have comfort in knowing that He is in control. I will go for now. Time to rest up for tomorrows run. Will try and see if I can pick up a signal tomorrow night. Blessings to all. John
Hi everyone.  It is to be another beauftiful sunny day here in Georgia, as was yesterday.  Pat and I both had a very good nights sleep.  Of course, I was worn out from watching all that basketball last evening but both games were competitive, as it should be at this stage of the tourny.  I will not attend church this morning but rather will go down and visit with Stacey for a couple of hours.  She was thrilled again yesterday when my sister and BIL sent her a new bouquet of flowers and she sent both Pat and I a photo of them she had taken with her phone camera.  She seems to be in good spirits and the temp she had yesterday morning was gone yesterday afternoon.  She is ready to proceed with the amputation if the bone marrow tests come back OK as the test took three days for results.  She told the sugeon she doesn't want to wait until Thursday for the surgery if it can be done sooner.
Carol, glad you found your sewing table extension and think I know what you are talking about as Pat has one of those sewing tables.  Her sewing table also has a large fold down piece on the back and she has kept that available for use for a long time.  It takes up a bit of room but makes a wonderful surface.  Glad you are feeling better and hope you were able to get to church this morning.
Etta Sue, sorry to hear your cold wasn't on the way out yesterday as you had earlier thought.  Hope it is better today as sounds like you have early week plans and need to be feeling up to them.
Judy, it sounds like your accounting course is going well.  It is always a great feeling when that balance sheet balances and the other reports as well.  Nice John has someone with him he enjoys being with.
Marilyn, I hope the cats and dogs are nice to you today.  Glad Gilbert is doing well.
John, hope your run today with your trainee is very enjoyable and you find nice weather this week.
Watch that glob....it will change!!
I didn't go to the church today...first Sunday of missing church in over 5 years!  I just didn't feel like taking a shower so I stayed home.  After 12 hours of cold meds I do feel much better.
After while I want to go fill the gas tank in the car so that when we get back from taking Kitty to see her sister tomorrow, she can pay to fill it again.  And I need more meds from the store!
It is nice and sunny today.  67° already!  I wish I could sit in the sunshine outside but I don't want to push it!
I called the minister's wife to let her know that I would be at Small Groups tonight and bringing potato salad to go with Rhonda's Sloppy Joe's and Evelyn's dessert and buns.  I will probably take some chips, too.
I lost one post so I hope to post this one before I lose it!
This may be TMI but my grandfather was born April 7th, 1870!  Happy birthday, Granddad!
