Morning Devotional...

SAVIOR AND LORD

Verse

For by grace are ye saved through faith... it is the gift of God.
Ephesians 2:8

God chose His only begotten Son as the channel for His grace and truth, for John witnesses that "grace and truth came by Jesus Christ!" The Law was given by Moses-but that was all that Moses could do. He could only "command" righteousness. In contrast, only Jesus Christ produces righteousness. All that Moses could do was to forbid us to sin. In contrast, Jesus Christ came to save us from sin. Moses could not save anyone-but Jesus Christ is both Savior and Lord. Grace came through Jesus Christ before Mary wept in the manger stall in Bethlehem. It was the grace of God in Christ that saved the human race from extinction when our first parents sinned in the Garden. It is plain in history that God forgave Israel time and time again. It was the grace of God in Christ prior to the Incarnation that made God say: "I have risen early in the morning and stretched out my hands to you!"

Thought
All that Moses could do was to forbid us to sin. In contrast, Jesus Christ came to save us from sin.

Prayer

Lord, Thank you for coming to save us poor sinners, and not to condemn us.

From Devotions By Dr. Tozer

Hi everyone on another beautiful Sunday morning.  Today has no plans beyond our normal Sunday when we attend Sunday School, church and go out to lunch.   I did finish up working on the laptop for Pat to use upstairs.  I was able to remove the hard disk from the old laptop and make an external hard disk out of it with an inexpensive enclosure I had gotten from Amazon.  I copied off her files from it on the upstairs laptop and will do the same for her downstairs laptop this morning before she gets up.

Hope Janet and Darrel are feeling a little better today although this is probably the third day which has a reputation of not being the best but better days to follow.

Don for getting the new week started  here with a fine devotional.

Hi everyone on this Monday morning.  It looks like I am the only one posting here yesterday.  We had a nice day yesterday although it got pretty hot and humid.  After church we rode in the golf cart up to where we had to park to attend church.  It was up a small incline and the heat had sapped my energy.  We elected to come home and have lunch rather than go out.  Yesterday was Graduation Sunday and the high school seniors in attendance wore their graduation gowns and caps.  They basically conducted the service and did a super job.  At one point in the service they awarded 24 scholarships to the high school graduates or college graduates continuing with their education.

Today's schedule is two appointments for Pat at 11:30 for a test that is suppose to take about an hour and then to see the doctor to discuss the results at 1 pm.  Today is bill paying day.

The church we attend is changing with the new pastor bringing in people he worked with from Chicago.  Everything is different - a lot more music before the sermon.  We do look forward to a month series of afterlife that is beginning in about two weeks.  That is always interesting.

We tried for two days now to find flowers for the front entrance and everything has been hail damaged  - too poor to plant.  We may try again today.  There are evergreens completely gone because of the record setting early cold in October in the neighborhood.

Larry, that is great news of all the scholarships for the young graduates in your church.  Everything helps.  So nice that you can help Pat with the computer problems.

Reading my email and one from a soldier overseas wrote thanks for his package - he mentioned that someone had taken the Bible and the book "Jesus is Calling" - he said that is OK.  .... we will never know how that is being used.   :)

Hi, friends,

I'm sorry I've been away for awhile. Please forgive me.

I really enjoyed reading all the messages posted since I was here last.

Thank y'all for the great devotions posted.

My goodness, I'm so sorry to learn of the wreck Janet and Darrel had. Wow! Everyone is correct in saying our God was in control to keep even further damage from occurring. May our Lord keep y'all during your recovery.

I wish I could remember to respond to everyone. But y'all know I love you and really care.

May our Lord bless us and keep us today.

Ruth Ann

Tuesday morning.  We had some very nice rain during the day yesterday and again last night.  I awoke about 4:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep so got up at 5:30 and started my day. The yard people should be here in about 25 minutes for the weekly mowing.  Pat's appointments went well and we got out of the office at the time her second appointment had been scheduled.  We stopped at Longhorn's and had a very good, although expensive meal for us.  We had just sat down at the table and a lady was leaving and stopped at our table and gave us a $3 off coupon and her gift card that had a small remainder on it of a couple of dollars.  We also had a nice gift card so there was no out of pocket expense for the meal.  I had one of Flo's steaks and it was delicious but should have been for the price.  I probably won't ever order it again but with the gift card it was doable.

The main activities today will be to go to coffee this morning, have lunch downtown and then at 12:15 pick up my son to take him to his heart doctor's office for a PET scan.  He went yesterday to do the test but his blood pressure was too low and they couldn't do the test so rescheduled for today.

Carol, I don't understand what your "afterlife" reference means?  Interesting about someone stealing the Bible and book that you had sent him.  Hopefully the person will come to a knowledge and acceptance of Jesus Christ into his life.

Marilyn, Judy and Ruth Ann, short messages or long messages, either are welcomed as it lets us know you are OK or at least OK enough to feel like writing.

Had a busy morning and this afternoon my car is going back to the shop. the Power steering fluid still has a small leak but is making a horrible noise when I make any turns. I still think it is the power steering pump. But Keith said to just let them diagnose the problem and not to tell the what I think it is. I am sure going to be an "I told you so" if it really is the pump.

Tomorrow evening I have a board meeting to attend for the Pacific cove Human Society I m a new board member there. Getting involved in  the community after all these years. both with PCHS and The Furry Friends Therapy dogs.

Hi everyone.  The sun is shining but probably won't see much of it this Wednesday as suppose to be cloudy and overcast most of the day with the chance of more rain.  I just checked my rain gauge and we had about 1/2 inch of rain during the night.  Now I won't need to water the yard tomorrow.  Our son was not able to have the test done again yesterday as his blood pressure was even lower than on Monday.  It was 72/44.  The Cardiologist was across the hall and he came over to see him and said they couldn't do the test until he got his blood pressure back up to an acceptable level.  He cut down the two blood pressure meds he was taking.  The doctor told our son he wasn't to go back to work until the pressure is back up and gave him a note for his boss.  So it will be another week without pay although he will go back as soon as he can if the BP gets back up.

I have nothing specific on my schedule for today.  Pat is planning taking our DIL to the thrift shop run by the Community Ministries and then on to a doctor's appointment.

Marilyn, frustrating when we take a care in and then have to immediately take it back.  Hope they get it fixed this time.  Good for you taking a position of service to your community as a new board member of the Humane Society.

Hi everyone on a beautiful morning after a night of rain.  We had 1 1/2 inches last evening and night.  Pat and I went to Kroger's yesterday for the first time since we moved here.  It was Senior Discount day and it was very busy.  Before I got into the store an older gentleman was sitting in his car apparently waiting for his wife.  As I walked by and smiled he spoke to me saying didn't he know me.  I told him I had just moved here so didn't think we have ever met.  We introduced ourselves and spoke for a few minutes.  Then there were no riding carts available so I sat on a bench at the front of the store while Pat did her shopping and an older gentlemen came over and sat down and we struck up a conversation and introduced ourselves.  This is a very friendly town and certainly exhibits Southern Hospitality.  Today I plan on going downtown for coffee with the men and then will go to the church for the Thursday Wisdom group.  This afternoon Pat and I plan on going to get haircuts.

The garage called It is definitely the Power steering pump that needs to be replaced for another $650+ They can't get it in until Monday as it has to be ordered. I knew it all the time and kept telling Keith that is what it was.

Hi everyone on a beautiful blue sky and puffy cloud type morning.  The grass in the yard is a beautiful dark green and with the rain we have had has already grown quite a lot after being mowed on Tuesday morning.  I didn't get a haircut earlier as I had planned so will try to do that today before I am mistaken for a sheep dog.  Pat has plans for something at noon and then we will meet and go out for a late lunch/early dinner.  She has cooked the last few nights and needs a night off from the kitchen.  Other than those two things my day is clear as far as I know.  We did hear from our son yesterday evening and his blood pressure is back up and Pat said he sounded like his old self and hopes to get to work this weekend.

Marilyn, one shutters when having to take a car in for repair.  However, they won't run forever without occasional maintenance and replacement of some parts.

Hope this turns out to be a nice day for everyone.

I just read the update on Janet and Darrel and such good new is that he is going to be closer to their home - otherwise, there would be a really long drive for Janet.

We are having a lot of storms and they seem to be much stronger this year even including tornadoes.  Our new roof was replaced and this is only two years after the former roof was replaced.  Fearful of huge rise in insurance cost for Colorado.  I can imagine Texas and a few others are having the same predicament.

One son walked over last night and his normally very obedient dog (Loki) would not mind him at all - We had a good laugh because Loki just kept walking where he wanted to go and of course, knew there was a bone for him hidden.  Such a character!  Loki comes in my house and does a safety search - he looks downstairs as well.  We know he just wants to protect everyone - then, he comes for his reward.

Larry:  I take "afterlife" to mean after we die - and where will we go.  That is how it was written.  It is very nice that you have taken to the new town.    I think of you when I hear "Gratitude is an attitude" and try to live up to that quote.

Hi everyone on this Saturday morning.  I think we had a bit of rain during the night as see some evidence of it on the windows.  We did have the buffet for lunch/diinner out yesterday at Ryan's. I didn't make it to the barbershop so that is on tap first thing this morning once they open up.  I have nothing else planned for the day.  Pat said she plans on working in her sewing room and I will just work here in my office at a leisurely pace.

Judy, thanks for posting the update on Janet and Darryl.

Carol, I heard on the news about the terrible storms in Colorado and also the Denver area.  Sure hope you and Jenny and families are OK and that you didn't have any of that unbelievably large hail I heard them talk about on the news. Your concerns about home owner's insurance rates increasing are undoubtedly well founded.  I agree with you on "afterlife".  I also agree with you on "Gratitude is an Attitude".

Hello!  I hadn't been getting my email notifications for this topic, so I got behind.  Of course, I have had a lot of stuff going on, too.

Paul, I wanted to thank you for that wonderful photo of Darrel!!  That is one of the BEST pictures of him I have ever seen!  Could I get a copy of it?  Please?  Thank you.  I will always remember fondly our special time with you and Pat i Niagara Falls.

Darrel is doing better, and sounds like his old self now.  I was really concerned as he seemed to be in a fog about what happened and where he was for several days.  So I feel much relieved.  I will be going with Lon, our carpenter who did the renovation after our water loss, to see Darrel this afternoon.  I am still not driving as that is very painful for me and thus I don't feel really safe in doing so.  And the pain meds are making me foggy as well.  But this, too, shall pass, and we have SO MUCH for which to be grateful and thankful to our wonderful protective God and the angels he sends to our aid in times of need!.

I did post an update in the prayer area as well.  Thanks to all for the prayers!  God bless you!

Hi, friends,

I've been staying in most of the time, with occasional outings. Yesterday was such a day. It was spent with my sister in law.  She is a sweet conversationalist and also has a phenomenal memory. So, our tasks seemed easy with such good company.

Y'all have a good day.

Larry, DD is within walking distance from our house.  There are predictions of a lot more severe weather however, we are usually skipped over because our place is closer to the hills. Stiil, we can have heavier snowfalls.

We are having a god dy thank you!
